I dont think it will work without a little resizing for fit our screens size tho
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCljZBeHzpE&feature=player_embedded
in action..course we wouldnt use THAT splashscreen but Its still pretty neat
It looks awesome. I definitely would love that.
the jpgs in the animation are 480x800 but they are all sideways lol
Wow, that would go great with my splash screen!

Would def want this for the Evo.
Im not to sure resizing would work. If anything wouldnt it make the animation smaller on our phone since it seems to be in landscape?
I'm bored...I'll try to make it.
If I do this, would people want it landscape or portrait?
I would go with portrait personally if it doesnt take away from the animations too much..Considering the size, if people wanted it in landscape they should be able to use it straight out correct, since its 480x800?

I can do both but the original animation is in landscape so I have no idea how it would stretch (or not) in portrait.
We'll see.
Here you go guys, it was in the Myn thread and it works just fine (its in landscape)!! Props to tolo3 for making this a flashable zip.

Sorry to hear that. The animation does work though.
I just pushed it to my phone manually. Now I'm on the hunt for a sound file that would complement the animation. It's a bit too long for my normal boot time but I may shorten the clip a bit.
You can just extract the bootanimation.zip and just use Root Explorer to copy it over to system/media. Or Toggle the signature verification. Mine didn't finish though. It booted to my home screen before it was done. :-(

Yeah it is too long, when I first applied it I was reflashing a rom so it went all the way through, but now it gets to the point where it zaps the apple but it doesn't finish the explosion. If there is a way to make the animation go all the way through without interruption that would be great.
It's been a long time since I found a bootanimation that I was willing to "fix" just to have it on my phone. I rebooted 4 times just to watch it over again .
I used the old mac crash sound as the intro and the rest are self explanatory. I also cut the clip down from the original. Hope everyone likes it. Oh, my old camera sucks and I'm sorry for the crappy quality.

Yes, its a video of it.
I would attach the animation if people didn't mind not having the sound mainly because I can't guarantee it will sync on their phone the way it does on mine.
I was just trying to show what it looks like (the shortened animation) and see if anybody wanted it.

Sorry it took a bit. Between being a lil hung over and trying to learn how to do the update script slowed me down but I got it.

Definitely interested here. Same as above though...I assume the background could be changed via standard method built into the phone?

I suggest you zip and release them as-is, and tell folks how to change the image themselves
Personally I really dig the last one, and would use it.
I concur with the above -- I've been looking for a good lockscreen replacement, and yours with the Android mascot instead of the lock would be absolutely amazing (especially the last one)
I like the 2nd one in the pic ... one with clock over the lock ... can we erase that SPRINT ... haha
how about small android on the bottom of the lockscreen remove time and put iwhat? on top of his head ala someones avatar

You cannot have any transparency in your image. I have compressed all your layers flat and gotten rid of transparency in the .zip below..it should work.
I will fix my first post's link also.
Check out the bootscreen thread here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=661219
Link the picture and the download in your main post. So people can see them.
I just did what danknee did.. But he beat me to it.
Also the xml file was loading the boot2.img and then looping it. But there was no boot2 image so it was going to black screen. I think it was working without flattening it. Since he said it popped up and then when black.

This gif image above will only load to black, it has tons of transparency. The gif is only rewriting the new parts of the image and the rest is transparent. You need to flatten each layer of the .gif and have zero transparency.
I fixed your new image and made it flashable in the zip below.

its an apple-zaper in case you cant figure it out... it is a 2 part sceeny but i didnt want to post it that way... part one is the zoomin EVO... part 2 is a cycle with apple bugs flyin and dyin by the evo...
EDIT:
rename applezap_bootanimation.zip as bootanimation.zip and push to phone reboot to see it do its thing... my phone zaps 2 iphones before it fully boots fresh rom it should keep looping till booted
ill also post the layered tif image file for this boot... <- if you download this you know what to do with it...
hmmmmm no one out there... with sound skills... wow... ok... ill guess keep waiting till i have time to create one...
i could try something... but first:
how long does the animation last?
how fast, aka. FPS?
does it loop?
the evo zooms in once and the the apple flying toward the evo loops... then again i can make it do anything... i can make more iphones fly towards it...
i can shoot you all the pngs that go into the bootanimation.zip ... but for some reason when i zip it up and create the dext.txt and push it to the phone it doesnt display right... so im trying to figure that one out right now...
edited the post before, but you posted before i submitted the edits... see above
this might help...
7 frames for EVO to zoom in
16 frames for apple-zap ...
20fps ~ 1.2sec first loop...
right now im trying to figure out how to zip without compression and make a proper dext.txt as soon as i figure that out ill have a functioning bootanimation.zip and then proper timing can be done... any help is appreciated...
how flexible are you with the timings? I can make something but you might have to tweak the animation to fit the effects.

No.
For the Evo, you'll want to create a sequence of images from the gif itself. You need to export the .gif file as a set of .png images.

Original creation by Gla'DOS:

Please use one of many instructions to push this boot animation to your phone.
Unzip the android_audio.zip and push the mp3 file.
Leave bootanimation.zip alone and push that file.
All credit goes to Gla'DOS, I only resized the images and added the audio. This runs smooth on my incredible, stock speeds UV.

Nope, all you need is a working SDK install, no root needed (you are pushing files onto non-protected parts of the file system). You can still foul up your phone, but would highly rare if you follow one of the many guides recommended by the OP.

cool beans. thanks for the help!
I downloaded SDK at the developers site. In the packages section it includes a bunch of stuff pertaining to 2.2. I don't want to download those correct?
It wouldn't harm/cause problems as far as using ADB, but you don't need them, so save that room for pr0n... because as everyone knows, Android is for porn!
Call me immature, but this video always makes me laugh =).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IraQfhlMwi4
What does it mean by PUSH item in SDK?
Works great, thanks a lot!
Flashable version
I could not get the animations to stick using adb, so I found a flashable boot animation and replaced the ani with the scribble ani.
Just flash in recovery. Works great!
Flare version here.
No audio on either. You can get that from first post.
(I take no credit for the animation or flashable files. I just put them together)
Maybe a red scribble instead of the green? Possible? Appreciate it if so.

Yeah should be easy pickings (what the hell, why did I type that?!). I need to wake up and drive to PA in a couple hours anyway, so this will give me something to do, thx!
Edit: Here you go, I hope this is what you were looking for. Even though I picked a colour I thought was red (I extracted a colour out of jonnybueno's Red Sense Theme), it turned out looking a bit orange on my screen. I am editing this on my personal laptop (which is not colour optimized, the hardware to do so is currently in storage as I make the move back to college), so if you'd like a different colour, just give me HEX code or provide an image you would like the colour of red to be extracted from. Take a look at the animation first though, maybe it's only orange-y on my screen.
Well...
I had nothing to do (besides watch Adult Swim) until daylight broke and I hit the road so I made a second attempt. It's better but it's still not where I would like it to be. Also I am noticing that the 2nd batch of images (the one that repeats) seems to be a shade darker than the intro images. Here is a comparison of the first "orange-y" images and the second, slightly less "orange-y" images. I'm going to leave it as-is for now. When I return tonight, if anyone has requested the exact colour of red they would like (like said before, in hex format or an image I can lift the colour from).
First Attempt:
Second Attempt:
Off I go! bb tonight, have a good week all! - DBG
I've made a red version of this but it has a spinning circle indicator!
I take no credit for it, I modifed it from the post here
Flash it with a recovery manager. Enjoy!
First things first... if you don't know what you're doing, I suggest you read as much as possible on XDA regarding bootanimation.zip files before attempting this to gain a better understanding. 2nd, if you break your ****, it isn't my fault. 3rd , make a backup for the love of god. Additionally, beyond this post I will NOT support this further.
Alright, this is the first time I've ever attempted to do one of these and it's a little bit tougher than it looks. I pulled images from youtube of the Nvidia gaming boot/splash screen and went through one by one, resized, retouched etc...
It looks pretty cool and I created a custom graphic at the end.
It was extracted from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhEEUkJL4iM frame-by-frame.
I added this image to the end, it "loops" for a second right after the nvidia screen and right before the phone boots.

I would included video of the whole thing but I've already spent a lot of time on it, maybe I'll do it later.
I use this with MIUI, not sure what else it will work on.
A sound goes with it, I got the sound from Avetny's animation thread, not sure who the original author was, but thanks to Avetny! You can also download the file from the MIUI theme manager if you're there, makes this process easier also.
Instructions:
If it works for CM7,, these will most likely be the instructions... adb push or use root explorer or equivalent to move bootanimation.zip into /system/media.
1) If you're using MIUI, first, download the nvidia boot sound from the online theme manager and also a boot animation.
2) Then, copy my bootanimation.zip file into /data/system/theme/boots (if you dont have the theme folder, create it to make the theme manager work in the first place).
3) Ensure your bootaudio.mp3 file is also in the same folder /boots or /media based on your rom.
All done! Enjoy! Remember to say thanks!
Thanks, it works on CM7 Nightly 103. The video size is a bit small but overall it looks nice.

Yea bit small but works on Weapon G2x rom
Sent from my G2x Weapon
It's small b/c the images are 480X480 and the desc file has the images as 480x480. So this will be "small" on all G2x displays, but I don't think it's really that small.
Anyway, here is a gif for you to preview it. The speed is close but not quite correct. The NVIDIA portion comes first and then the Android loops till the phone boots.
