Does the lookout app work with rooted phones? If not, what other virus protection software works with rooted phones?

AFAIK, Yes.
Although have you tried asking Lookout themselves?

Yeah I just got an answer back today and lookout themselves test the app sometimes with rooted phones.

Lockout work with rooted phones, and I tried it with 2.2 Custom ROM and works also.

Honestly, I don't think these apps are necessary.
I tried using them before, but they just slow the phone down.

[APPS] Gingerbread Screenshot app nonroot

Has anyone come out with an app for stock gingerbread nonroot that has screen capture capabilities? I'm on a stock Nexus One running Android 2.3.3

Try "Shootme" peoples saying it work without root.
Is anyone developing anything to take advantage of the Gingerbread native screen capture capabilities?
Id have thought it would be a popular app if something were to make it to the Market. Or is the limited availability of Gingerbread putting developers off?

Unless the phone is rooted, ShootMe does not work. I tried it on Nexus One 2.3.3.

Maybe it's due to the 2.3.3 but I know a few peoples using it without root. Even some nexus one owner.

It works on certain unrooted phones but not the Nexus One unless on a custom Rom maybe (which would suggest rooted)

If the rumor is true, then they already know that you rooted, so uprooting isn't going to help you

How would they know?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
according to what i read directly from the source P3Droid, they may have been tracking root users for quite some time, if thats true then unrooting wont be helping you.
I was only rooted for a week and never used a custom rom, overclocked, or wireless teathered.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
Again, according to the source, there are several ways to track when someone roots their phone, such as having a file that warns the network when it detects someone rooting, chances are if they are tracking root users then they already know you've rooted, even if it was only for a week. Again, this is IF they are tracking us.

You can unroot using Z4root then just delete it from your phone.

Yes you SHOULD be able to unroot with z4 but like the previous posts say, if they are tracking root users you could well be screwed. If there is any tracking going on it must not be stored on the phone though. If it were, one of the many modders in this community would have uncovered it. I would think that it would be stored on the server side....
D2G stock & rooted

Error 49..Google movies.

Anyone else getting this. I am unable to stream or download movies. Unrooted 3g Xoom.
Happens on rooted devices, because of root. But no one has said anything about non rooted. Are you unlocked? Have you tried a reboot?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
No I am unlocked...but there is no way for me to OEM lock as I got screwed from the one click lock unlock thread. So no movies for me till netflix
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
That's the reason I don't trust one clicks. Id rather screw it up my self and not be pissed at anyone else :\

You can still lock your device you just need to download the img files from Motorola. Its a pretty easy process.

what nubsors said, I was originally rooted the old way i.e. manual way, then unrooted went to stock for 3.0.1 update, then got bored and rooted using the 1 click method, and manually installed the 3.1 update. Couldn't get Google Videos to work so I reflashed all of the 3.0.1 img files, oem locked it and got the OTA, and it works like a charm

I can confirm this working on my Captivate, though I'm running Cognition 5 beta 1. (I have heard from others running 2.2 that the Netflix app doesn't work for them)
I can also confirm it works on Cognition 5 V1.0 as well.

Also can see it in Android Market on my phone. Never saw it before.
It is not showing for me on Miui Its a good thing it was working with the hacked version from a few months ago. I will just go back with that.
The first version out earlier today didn't go past the sign in screen. Just updated it to a newer version and now it works flawlessly.
Andromeda3
So for everyone that can't get it to work. Pull it up again and it will say newer version available. Update it. Maybe it will work now.
Now for cog 4.5.3 this included.it being listed on the market?

[Q] Using LG's official gingerbread update

Hello,
I am currently dusting my old LG Phoenix off for my girlfriend as her blackberry just died. My LG phoenix is rooted using the gingerbreak.apk however, it is still using Froyo.
I would like to update this to 2.3 for her and was wondering if I can just plug my phone in and run the 2.3 gingerbread upgrade tool from LG. Is this possible? Would the phone retain the root?
Thanks,
P.S. I tried looking around on the forums however, I am using a computer at work so I might have overlooked something.
It should if you download and install OTA Rootkeeper from the store. Once installed backup root then upgrade and reinstall OTA and restore.
