Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was away to get the Droid X's music.apk working on other phones.
The reason I ask is because it has visualizations and seems to be the only player out that does this.
I did try to install the music.apk from a Droid X dump but it forced closed. I guess because i didn't have the libraries it calls too. Is it possible to do this in anyone opinion?
I have a Droid G2 with CyangenMod.
I would even pay if someone found out away to do this.
I noticed there is a Visualization.apk in the system/app folder on the droid X, Also there is a folder in the syste/ect called motorola that is called visualization in this folder there is a presets folder with a whole bunch of .milk files! does this mean if you have a droid X you can user any milk drop visualization you want?! I put that in my system/ect. I tried to run my music.apk it ran but when i doubled click the album no visualization.... =( still working on it. I think i need to have the actual music.apk from droid X but it forces close when i tried to install it after selecting song. I also copied libvisualization_jni.so to my lib folder.
Well I got mostly everything installed I needed and the player does come up and will start playing music for a second but when it trys to go to the screen with the album on it it force closes. I can also go to menu and there is a visuals option if i click it it force closes. I feel like i am so close but so far lol. I really wish i knew what .so files it calls on.
I don't know if this could help you or not but I came across this on another thread.

So, I was tinkering around replacing apps and came across and AOSP ROM that I found here:
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/...-stable-aosp-1-5r3-updated-8-27-2009-a-22208/
To get to my point, I pushed over the music app from this ROM and low and behold, you've got the vanilla android music player, which is, IMO much better than the HTC iteration. I thought I'd share it with the rest of you, because I think I've seen this requested before...
For those who haven't used it, I think this runs noticeably faster than the HTC music app, and is also more finger-friendly, which I find great when I'm using it to play music in my car.
EDIT: I'm on Fresh 1.1. This is from a AOSP 1.5 build
EDIT 2: Also, I have found that you can remove HtcMusic.odex and HtcMusic.apk, and this still works fine!

Mind posting a screen shot of the icon -- I'm not a member on the other forum, also what ROM are you running? I tried to installed this and wasn't able to. I'm running Gumbo1.5c -- I think this music.apk might be for 1.6 +

I'm on Fresh 1.1. The icon looks exactly the same as the HTC music app, which I haven't attempted to remove yet. However once clicking the 'artist' 'album' buttons it asks which app to use as the default for this action, I just chose com.android.music instead of com.htc.music.
I pushed it over as so:
Code:
adb push music.apk /system/app
didnt work for me either, tried pushing it to Gumbo 1.5c bare....

I could push it and got it to work -- but removed it anyway and went back to the HTC Music player.
Trailblazer101's Modified Camera
Alright Guys, here it is Released within a reasonable amount of time, too haha
This Camera has the GPS Tagging feature added back in Which I find to be a very nice feature I also added in the "Battery Alert Removal" and "Call Alert Removal" mods too...
This is OUR original Camera modded, not one copy and pasted from the Fascinate... I spent the better half of three-ish days looking over GizmoDroid's modified Camera for the Fascinate (which I am thankful for, and you all should be too! :]), and porting over the GPS specific features into ours You should notice the Ticker still gets locked when opening the Camera, so all the other specific features for our phone are still in tact so basically a lot of work went into this...
As always, I need to proclaim that this is only for deodexed Rom... So stock roms directly from the store will not work! That, and you being on EC07, but that should be obvious by now
Now, time for the downloads! Just rename appropriately and copy and paste the apk over the original in /system/app Of course, you need to be rooted to do so

I still love you man! XD
good job as always! cant wait see what final .apk looks like
Just tried it. Works perfectionately.

Has anyone tried this modified camera with EC09?
It doesn't seem that many people had much to say about this mod, and just recently I finally had it happen where I went to use my camera but the low battery warning prevented me from doing so.
I decided to give it a shot. It didn't work for me. I renamed camera.apk in my system/app folder and then put Trailblazer101's camera.apk in that folder. It wouldn't launch for me, even after reboot. I was able to rename the original and get the old camera back, but I wondered if there was something I should have done differently, or if anyone had gotten this to work with EC09.

I've thought about trying it, but I haven't gotten to it, yet. I would try moving the stock camera completely out of the /system/apps folder (to sdcard), myself. The only concern I would have is the same issue that is going on with the phone dialer. If the certificate date is different from that of camera firmware, it may cause havoc.

if anyone wants the cooliris gallery3d (which i prefer over the moto gallery and the miui gallery posted here), here's one that works. it even works with your picasa albums, you just have to open the motorola gallery and hit refresh, the albums will start appearing in gallery3d.
to install, you have to either adb push to system/app and set correct permissions
or
copy to sdcard, use rootexporer (or similar) to copy to system/app and set permissions (need root)
reboot
once cwm works for the a2, i'll create a flashable zip
i also have the stock music app as well that would work, but just use ubermusic and google music beta.
This works pretty well after it renders the thumb nail images. I'm still hooked on quickpic unfortunately. It reminds me of the Samsung captivates 3d gallery.
This is the stock 2.3 gallery, which is what Samsung uses

Whoa this is really nice. Thank you.
Why Moto doesn't include this stock is beyond me. Only one week till the Google acquisition vote...
I want to believe.
I managed to delete the original gallery on my KF while trying to delete something else. Should this be the the 3d gallery apk? Well I couldn't seem to find it on line so I pulled the one off my Samsung Droid Charge and attempted to push it to system\app with Root Explorer but when I attempt to install it just says that it did not install. Any ideas? Wrong apk or permissions? Need a quick class on what I am doing wrong, did not see it posted elsewhere. I am rooted and like to use it to put some family pics on the ADW home screen.
Thanks!
Ok, got the right apk from krelvinaz (thanks so much). Using Root Explorer I clicked install and it installed in data\app. Didn't do anything to permissions. So now while rooted OR unrooted, I try to use the picture frame widget. If picking the picture from Gallery it lets me resize, hit save and it just closes without adding anything to the screen. If I hit the widget and use QuickPic for the picture selection, it creates the frame on the screen but it is black with nothing in it.
Any ideas? Do I need to change permissions or load the apks in a different folder? This all worked fine before I screwed up and deleted gallery. Worked when it was rooted too.
Bump.
Anyone? Tried several different apps. The ones that work either just put up a black box or put up the pic but it doesn't stay and reverts to the black box. Worked before so something is missing since I deleted the gallery the first time.
Does anyone have Moto Blur player apk file ?
I like its build in radio and on screen lyrics.
(I've used it for year then switched to Galaxy Nexus, now I miss it )
Bump!

Bump..
Anyone please xD
In theory this could work, but there might be issues. Within the code of Android, and each manufacturer's respective skins, there can be certain issues when trying to replace a stock .apk for another manufacturer's. I guess you could replace the music player on your phone and rename it with the motoblur one, but there might still be issues.
