Hello there,
I have heard from a friend of mine that Android is much more better than WinMobile so I tried to install it. The installation finishes but on version 2.1 and 2.2 I can not use the touchscreen so I can not even enter my PIN code.
I have also tried 2.0 and somehow it works but it does not seem to get any WiFi connection and neither any other connection.
I have read in other threads that people use Android on the HTC Touch HD without any problems so what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? I appreciate any kind of help

So I have a modded HTC HD2, which will reboot by itself while Im running an app or on the internet browsing. Sometimes just randomly, I have had this current configuration on it since I got the phone. But this problem is happening more often now. Sometimes when it reboots I have to go through hell to get android to bootup again. Please direct me in the right direction to fix this, or if there is a better configuration of mods I could change to.

You need to google for froyostone sense V.3.2 that will work better
Hello,
As some of you may already know, the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update creates issues for those using eduroam WiFi networks because of a bug in wpa_supplicant.
These are the most relevant discussions I've found googling around:
EDIT: Can't post links apparently, google yourself...
I now have my HTC Wildfire asking if I want to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 and I don't know what to do because I really need a working eduroam WiFi and I'm still a noob when it comess to Android. But at the same time I'm very excited about Froyo and I'd like to upgrade.
Does anyone know what is the situation right now? Has the bug been fixed?
What is your experience with Eduroam in Froyo? Does it work out-of-he-box? Does it work at all?
Thanks a lot for your replies, any info is useful!
Somebody please help...
Nobody is using Eduroam network on its Android phone?
Please share your experience!
Problem is gone in 2.2.1 on SGS
Updated my Wildfire to 2.2.1 yesterday and Eduroam connection is now broken.
Not a big issue for me, so won't attempt a fix until next year now.

I've got a Wildfire as well and eduroam is very important for me (basically the only free wifi access I have). I can't believe Android devs are not fixing this, it's been around for more than a while.
@bael666: Is it really fixed on SGS?
How can it be fixed on a phone and not on an other one with the same android version? Maybe local network settings make a difference here.
What should I do? Upgrade or not?
the only problem my wife had after the update is that froyo had disabled her APN settings (3G data) and all had to be enabled/add settings.

That means no problems at all with eduroam wifi?
Hmm yeah it's working perfectly for me now on SGS. Had problems with my phone "forgeting" phase2 options, thats obviously gone now. One thing i did this time is importing cert chain (one file) instead of importing three single certs. Dunno if thas has anything to do with it.
You got any other device - laptop or something - using eduroam at the same time? Try to disable it. Having latop and phone connected at the same time isn t working for me either.
I have the same problem with my connection to Eduroam.
Did anyone found a fix ?
no problem at all.
have a android tablet 2.2.1 android, and a phone 2.2.1 android. both work extremely smooth.
Hi, I'm at UCL and have had sporadic connection to eduroam while I've been at Uni. Most of the time, if i have had my wifi turned off completly for a long time, I will be able to connect ok. If i get kicked off, it will often list eduroam as 'disabled' and i cannot reconnect without turning wifi off for a while. The UCL IT services has this statement on its setup guide:
"There is a known bug with 2.2.x Android phones that may prevent automatic connection to eduroam » It is expected that 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) will fix this issue. A temporary workaround to this bug is to toggle wireless off and on again. It has also been reported that Juice Defender will do this automatically (this is useful if your manufacturer will not issue an OS update)."
Thanks, this is helpful.
In the end, I didn't upgrade to froyo and stuck with Eclair, hoping HTC release Gingerbread for Wildfire at some point.
EDIT: Do you use Froyo btw? Have you tried the Juice Defender workaround? Does it work?
If you are using an android version less than froyo then add this to your wpa_supplicant.conf file located in /data/misc/wifi/ :
Code:
network={
ssid="eduroam"
proto=WPA
key_mgmt=WPA-EAP IEEE8021X
pairwise=TKIP
group=TKIP
eap=TTLS
identity="[email protected]_NAME.ac.uk"
anonymous_identity="[email protected]_NAME.ac.uk"
password="PASSWORD"
ca_cert="/sdcard/eduroamcert.pem"
phase2="auth=PAP"
priority=2
}
Note the ca_cert line. You will need to find what certificate your university uses for authentication and add it to your SD Card.
This method has been working for me at UCL with a HTC Hero since android 1.5.
EDIT:: Forgot to mention, you need to be rooted in order for the aforementioned method to work.
thanks my_space for that information, but till now it's impossible to make connection with eduroam. In the wifi-menu says: connecting..... disconnected... Do i need to activate the wpa_supplicant with a command? My phone is a samsung galaxy 5 with android 2.1
This is just to report that eduroam WiFi works *perfectly* under Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread (CyanogenMod 7 RC3 ROM)!
Problem back on Galaxy S2! When i leave the phone disconnects, and it is not possible to reconnect when coming back.
Tomorrow I will try it in my university with an LG Optimus Black with froyo.
EDIT: It didn't worked on my 2.2.2 android. I tried changing options and nothing.
Had someone maybe found fix for this issue? I stumble upon this small app but haven't tried it yet: Eduroam Fixer v1.3. I'm on Android 2.2.2.
I 've spend lots of time searching (google and all) but could not find a answer:
I (actually my Wife) have a Nokia CK-1W Bluetooth Carkit (no remotes and stuff) In the earlier days (Donut) I managed to pair my Wife's HTC Magic with it at some stage with Cyanogenmod we battled with the same problem but around 5.x it worked and it was remebered over to 6.x (I don't have those roms (4.x,5.x) anymore so I can't see what the config was)
We both upgraded to Sensation but now we cannot pair with it (Nokia Ck-1W)
It seems the Phone want to pair with 0000 but the kit has a different number (last four digits of the serial number). Problem is it never gets asked for and fails.
I prosume the auto_pairing.conf file in the /etc/bluetooth folder should be able to resolve it. I tried putting in Nokia (after BMW,Audi,Parrot) without success.
I have S-OF,root& AdroidRevolutionHD, she does not (yet)
Anyone with some info, link or pointer that could help me out?
A solution that would work on Stock is prefereable, but we have S-OFF ...
Thanks
Tobie
HTC Sensation: S-OFF Android Revolution HD 1.1.6
In the mean while I've tried many different settings in the configuration without success (auto_pairing.conf and audio.conf)
I also found that the phone has a dynamic_auto_pairing.conf which seems to be copied over to the data folder once the ROM is running.
I'll try adding Nokia, Nokia CK-1W and 00:08:C6 modded into the ROM with a super wipe when AR HD 1.1.7 gets to us... ( :-( did not work...)
There also seems to be some database living with the bluetoothd files.. don't know how they work:-(
Any luck so far? I'm having a similar problem with my HD2 (BOYPPC CM7 SD build) and CITROEN C4 Picasso built-in bluetooth handsfree (I believe the make is Siemens). I was going to modify audio_pairing.conf, but if that fails for me, it would be great to know if you found another way around this.
Nothing yet Sorry!
I had the same problem. My HTC Magic (CM6.1) worked fine with the Nokia CK-1W, but when connecting my ZTE Blade (CM7.1) it told me that my passcode was invalid, without ever prompting me for a passcode.
The solution was simpler than I had thought: You just need to reset the CK-1W.
With the power off, press the button on the remote for about 15 secs until the light starts flashing. After about 10 secs the carkit will beep 2 times to signal that it has been reset.
If you have multiple phones, remember that the first phone you register will be the "default" phone (the phone the carkit will connect to automatically).
Ok I am an android Newbie coming from symbian ^3.. and here are a few things that are annoying me and i have searched high and low and cannot seem to find any satisfactory answers. I have two phones., HTC Sensation 4G and Tmobile G2x by LG both running their latest software versions. Here are the Qs..
1. Niether of these two phones send ringtones to my bluetooth headset. The same headset rings the ringtones when connected to my N8. Is this an android issue ?
2. Is there no way to wake up the screen from locked / sleeping mode by just tapping ? Its extremely hard to press the power button while driving with one hand.
3. Is there a way to assign different proxies to different Wifi access points ? Actually I dont even see this as a feature on G2x and on sensation it assigns a single proxy to all my Wifi access points. I want to be able to assign different proxies or no proxy to a particular APN.
Thoughts / apps / suggestions or general guidance is highly appreciated.
bump! any suggestions ??
2. Tap-tap app: you can wave twice over proximity sensor to unlock device.
However I don't recommend using your phone and driving!
1. Htc Sense uses a very old bluetooth stack, version 1.5 to be exact, so many modern bluetooth devices don't work properly with it. The hardware its capable, the software isn't. Htc seem to have no interest in fixing the code in sense to allow update of the bluetooth stack either.
If you wait a few weeks until we get functional aosp roms, then you can fix things by rooting and flashing one.
Unfortunately there is no other solution.
Sent from my Leedroid Sensational Htc Sensation!
3. I don't know if its possible in sense but it can be done in the custom rom Cyanogenmod which will be ported to this phone for testing to begin soon. Could be a couple of months before we get a stable build though.
Cyanogenmod has the fix for problem 1 as well.
You will find plenty of support if you wish to join us on the dark side. Muhahaha.
Sent from my Leedroid Sensational Htc Sensation!
Thank you cdstewart . It is not just during driving but even walking down the road with a cuppa coffee in hand renders me unable to use my new phone! I want to like it so bad but not able to use my LG g2x and am not about to become software inclined to be able to mod let alone understand "functional aosp roms"
Thank you though. Atleast there is hope. I am going to try the tap tap app.
Hi,
I need help installing the htc mango driver v3 because with the current version i cant connect to my home wlan network which is built on a ddwrt router, before i installed the update everything was working fine, i also tried it my gf's IPhone and with it i can connect without a problem. I cooked my own custom rom firmware but i really dont know how to put the new htc driver in it.
I saw that the htc mango driver v3 is avialable for Htc Hd7..
Config: WPA2 encryption, mac filter disabled, dhcp
tried: DFT rom, Ansar Rom and the one which i created myself
Phone: HTC Trophy with custom rom
I hope someone can help me (((
I was having the same issue so I am looking into it now.
Hi i tried to flash a custom rom and after installing a wifi hack i was a able to set the ip. I also found this solution if you already have a developer unlocked phone:
sensboston said:
You can do that via the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\<YourAdapter>\Parms\TcpIp]
"EnableDHCP"=dword:0
"DefaultGateway"="192.168.1.1"
"UseZeroBroadcast"=dword:0
"IpAddress"="192.168.1.100"
"Subnetmask"="255.255.255.0"
4 example, <YourAdapter> for Samsung Focus is BCMSDDHD1
Of course, the "DefaultGateway" and "IpAddress" should fit your router settings (some routers configured to use 192.168.0.x subnet)

Hope it helps, i now can connect to my wifi )
Hi there,
I have tried to figure out a solution for this problem for over a week, just today I thought I might fix it by installing the latest NextGen+ rom after taking pains to downgrade the spl.
But still no wifi... it seaches then shows "no networks found"...
My wildfire s.. picks up many. I have no MAC filtering, using DHCP and on channel 7.... tried everything.
I read someone called "thesmack" saying he fixed a similar issue by getting a "V3 Driver" update by HTC from XDA but I cant find it, and he didnt share any links.
Please if anyone knows the solution to this problem help me out, by having no wifi the phone is worth little.
I suggest you turn of wifi and then turn on bluetooth. reboot phone and turn on wifi. I had the same problem. but now is ok

Unfortunatly that didnt work. I flashed an old radio (nodo) to see if it would work, still nothing. But funnily this morning when I switched on the phone it showed the small "networks available" icon, yet when I went into wifi... it refused to let me see the page, then after a while of trying it came up and didnt detect anything.
This is SOME bug that its taken so long, with giants like MS and HTC unable to resolve it.
