Has anyone successfully compiled a working framework-res (Stock Moto ROM) with 1% battery steps?
If your not sure what I mean take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916629
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778
The first posts are what is important from those threads.
From searching around I havent really had any luck finding something for the stock moto rom to do the 1% battery steps.
It's easy to create the images for the theme, I don't think the Droid X reports battery percent in anything other then 10% increments.

Getting the images made isnt the issue for me atm. Its getting the xml to compile correctly and the Droid X to see other then 10% is my problem =/
You can get the framework to compile with as many images as you want. As other's have stated, the dx reports in 10% increments. But be careful with themed frameworks; decompiling and recompiling them properly is not simple.
I have a tutorial on androidforums in the dx section if you're interested.
Before 10% was built into themes, I put 10% into Revo for ApeX and had 20 charging images too.
i'd love to see 1% increments on the droid X!
Ive done it a few times for my dinc themes. It is a matter of decompiling and recompiling the images, resources.arsc and drawable battery xmls in a particular order.

I believe that 10% increments is all the X can do. I've read that somewhere.

Don't know if this will help you guys, but I've done this on the eris... there are 2 battery xml files that need to be modded. The amount of images has to exactly match the xml references. Once you've done that, delete the resources.arsc file before you recompile. Apktool should rebuild it with the new structure. If someone wants to send me a framework file, I'll gladly try and get this for you! The eris was originally in 20% incs ...

Lately, I have been doing a lot of modifications to the framework-res.apk file. I've realized that within this file, contains many .png files that seem to relate to the original 2.1 Eclair Lockscreen, then right after that, it contains SE's lockscreen file. I think by editing the codes, you can make the lockscreen use the original lockscreen .png files rather than SE's lockscreen. This is just a theory at the moment, and I only know basic knowledge of coding... So anyone wanna help out?
lol i also noticed that ^^ im sure se hardcoded the thing so that we cant change back lol
Grrr SE restricts too many things!!

Notified too, but we need someone familiar of xml-code!
I'll have a look through the smali from framework.jar and the xml later today... I hope. I seem to be a bit hung up on the timescape animation files at the moment, which is kind of strange as I don't even use timescape....

Can someone please post some battery mods for Gummy 2.0
I really like the rom and theme it comes with. The only thing I would like to change is the battery icon.
Accurate battery 2 is nice. Or preferably Honeycomb.
If someone would like to direct me to a tutorial on how to do this I would be happy to read and learn to do it.

I'm not sure there's a way to do it without some knowledge of theming, as you would have to go into the framework and change just the battery stuff yourself... if you don't mind everything being changed you can use Gummy Toolbox to apply a different theme which will in turn give you a different battery icon. I like honeycomb as well and I'm using 'Gummycomb' from there, the blue is nicely done throughout

I figured it was the framework, but I do not know what is what in that folder.
guess I have some research and some reading to do.

You are using gummycomb? It won't let me download your file.
Here is the battery I made for Keighles, anyone can use it if they wish. It is a honeycomb battery made to work with the stock gummy2.0 blue theme. This was made using the UOT kitchen many props to the creator!
I thought I'd throw out a request for someone to add the honeycomb battery to the GingerfireBlue theme for GC 2.0, as that would be sweet. If no one gets to it, then I'll try and figure it out for myself, but currently I don't have the time for that, and so I thought I would ask.
Cheers.

I created a theme using UOT Kitchen and it appears that some of the items I had included aren't working. I'm currently on humble 4.22 and am wondering if the items aren't working with the rom. If anyone is up to trying this out for me and seeing if all items work on a gb build other than 2.3.5 I would be very thankful.
Items included in the theme:
BIOS boot animation (not working)
Red overscroll glow (works)
Battery indicator changed (works)
Signal indicator (not working)
Emoticons (not working)
Custom black and white and white and red load icons
All of this is on a black background and launcher pro. I was trying for a simple black and white theme. If anyone is interested I can post the zip file.
Edit: here is the zip file for you all. Try it out and let me know how it works for you, issues, and what rom you are running.

Okay well in the UOT kitchen the emotions are put in the framework-res.apk but for the phone calls them from the mms.apk so you will have to do it yourself with 7zip and then push to your phone. Also with the signal bars UOT places them in the systemUI.API which is right but there are 2 sets of them the phone call them from a different name which is the vzw_stat_signal_1.PNG but there are aleast 12 of them so just copy and rename the copies and then push the file. Oh and as for the bootanimation its probably named sanim.zip just rename to bootanimation.zip and you should be good to go. If you have more problems let me know I'm here to help.

Thanks for the reply. I extracted all the framework.res files from both my rom and from UOT. I'm going to go through and edit the battery icons and a few other items. The UOT files don't even include the signal indicators that I had selected so I may just end up making custom ones. Its really just a matter creating them, saving them as PNG files, replacing them, and pushing the framework.res file back to the phone, right?
Pretty much thats it!!! Did you upload the systemUI.apk to the UOT kitchen or just the framework-res.apk?
I uploaded both files. When pushing the files back to the phone will I need to delete the originals or will it overwrite them?
Sorry for the n00b questions but when it comes to this stuff I'm...well...a n00b lol

I apologize if this thread seems pointless. I am just curious to see if some elements of UOT just do not work on EP3 based roms, if there was error on my behalf, or UOT just simply does not work as hoped.
One should not have to feel diminished because some are not up to par as others. It just baffles me that others would mock ones questions when the point of a forum is to help better understand and share.
So Locket just keep up the work and disregard what one might think or say. I'm download and view, ill get back to you!!

Releasing stuffed cooked up on theme kitchen rediculous. If you have questions, ask. Dont cook crap up on theme kitchen (on that joke of a "rom", humble) and call it theme. Theme kitchen is for personal use.
Now, if you are interested in learning to theme, pm me. I will get you my gtalk info give all the help you want to put out an actual theme.

I do realize that the kitchen is used for personal use and this isn't intended to be a full-on theme to be released to the masses. It is just me screwing around with it and seeing what options were there and see what I could come up with. I'm not much of a developer/graphic designer/etc. As stated, I made this post to see how well the kitchen worked with our phones, ep3, and if the items stated that aren't working are related to one of the two.
As far as the rom goes, its not too bad of a rom. I am personally a GC fan and since there isn't an ep3 GC rom yet I decided to go with this. Do you have any idea when you and the team are releasing a new rom?
I may have to take you up on your offer as I would like to learn to theme and will probably have loads of questions. Now that I have two different framework apks to look through I can sit down and compare the two and make some basic generalizations.
If this comes off as me being a **** that is certainly not my intention. I just want to clarify my reasoning behind this thread.

ep3 is the same as ep1 as far as the rom goes. ep3 was just a kernel update. if you flash an ep3 kernel you will be up to date.
if there is another gummy release it will be just a patch to fix some bugs. team gummy and team liberty have merged. the next release will be Liberty ROM for the Charge.
Ahh that I did not know, lol. This is the first GB rom I've run as I wanted to keep the reliability of ee4 (which didn't happen on GC 2.0) and wanted to wait for an official OTA. One of the options in TSM Parts didn't play well and sent my phone bootlooping and then decided to try out ep3.
Hello Forum. I would like to know how do I go about changing the battery icon in the ASOP Style v3.3.1 rom to look like the Valhalla Final battery icon? I was going to just replace the framework.apk with the new icons but the battery icon in ASOP goes in 1% increments rather then 5% like Valhalla. I would appreciate any help I can get since I'm a noob at this stuff. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the response. I have looked at Rom Toolbox as an option but it doesn't quite have the same battery icon I'm looking for. I was really hoping for directions to just port over the Valhalla icon myself, if that's even possible.

You might just try pushing the tweaks.apk in your ROM. It might have the battery icon you are looking for in it. I don't know. Just a though. I am suggesting this because this is where we have our status bar tweaks, including battery, on VB Final.
You can read over this to see what the tweaks are for.
Thanks I'll give it a try.

Didn't work.
Ok so I pushed the Tweak.apk to the /system/app folder but it didn't help. I think the battery icons are located in the SystemUI.apk file. Which is what i originally was going to push but there are far more battery icons in the ASOP rom then Valhalla.
So I guess what I want to know is how do I change the mod of 1% battery increments to 5% so that I can use Valhalla's icons. I still appreciate the suggestions though.

I could be wrong but just replace them. If there is no icon to show it will leave the current one until the next one with the proper name is called.
Just rename them exactly like the current ones on the 5% mark are and delete the old ones. If you use UOT that is how it would do it.
Ok so I replaced the icons and now the battery icon is a constant red bar with an exclamation point. I named all the icons accordingly and erased the extra ones but no luck. Let me know if I did something wrong, thanks.

Got it!
After many attempts and fails I finally got it to work. What I was doing wrong was not adding the stat_sys_battery.xml and stat_sys_battery_charging.xml file to the framework apk. I just took them from the Valhalla rom. I'd like to thank everyone for the ideas and suggestions.
So, I have been using supercharged V5 for a while and am loving it. However, I have been unable to update to either update one or two without having massive moto fc's.
Eventually I found out that the app I use to change my window animations is what's causing it. Cause the fc's don't happen until I install the animations and reboot. What's weird is that the fc's don't happen on the initial release.
Sooooo, I know that animmod (the app) changes the framework-res.apk for the animations and I'm thinking that maybe if I track down what it changes, I can figure out why it does it on the updates and not the initial.
So I guess I need to decompile the apk. But I have no clue how to do that or what that apk even does.
I'm PC savvy, but Java and Linux are brand new to me. Help would be awesome! I'd love to be able to update and keep the app!

So I was able to decompile both my current modded framwork-res.apk and the un-modded one straight from supercharged V5.
The differences lie in the "anim" folder. (imagine that?)
All the xml files in the folder are the same except mine (the modded ones) are bigger in size.
What on god's green earth could be changing in the updates that causes all the Moto FC's? Thoughts anyone?
I've attached both of the framework's if someone get's curious or bored. Help would be rad!
