[Q] InstallingTopaz ROM for a Touch Diamond 2 - Touch Diamond2, Pure Themes and Apps

I am trying to run the Topaz ROM file by transferring it from My PC which has windows 7 to my HTC Diamond 2 phone but I get a communication error. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

syrian
must have windows active sync program

Assuming you are trying to install a custom ROM and you have successfully installed HSPL, rename the .nbh file to TOPAIMG.nbh and copy to the root of your storage card and enter bootloader mode. It will flash that way as well.
If it is th estock ROM, you can also enter bootloader while connected to your PC and bypass Active Sync and then run the .exe.

Yep, Sync the phone with the windows, works with windows 7 (must download a seperate software form microsoft site), install HSPL, and than use customRUU, or the provided installer with the Rom to install it.

I think you should visit this thread. You'll find a lot of useful stuff there, including all you should know about flashing ROM, HardSPL, etc.
Enjoy!

Install Cabs via ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center

I found a way to get cabs to install via ctiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center. Previously I have came to a problem that it does not run as administrator. With a combination of CABviaAciveSync and Always Run as Administrator I have solved this problem.
To get the latest of each go here:
CABviaActiveSync
Always Run as Administrator
Use ARAA to make "CABviaActiveSync.exe" ARAA and then you should be able to install via ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center!
As a side note I'd like to mention that if you use this plus AppToDate will make it even easier. After a hard reset (can't figure out how to cook my own rom... yet) all I have to do is install my old version of the app then AppToDate updates them all!
Very nice. I have found it's just as easy to load any cab file onto the micro SD card, and run the cab file from the SD card on the phone...

Thats what I have been doing but after many flashes its gets a tad annoying. I'm also aware of programs that will install a complete folder of cabs but I just prefer using the computer. I do keep all the cabs on my SD too just in case i have to Hard-Reset on the go.
will this work on windows 7 x32?
using htc hd2 phone

Possible to flash ROM using Mac?

This might have been asked before but I haven't seen anything yet through what I've looked... To customize and flash my HD2 is it possible to do it on a Mac, if so what tools do I need? Thanks all
The best way to flash using a mac is to install Windows XP SP3 via Bootcamp.
There are no native MacOSX flashing tools, and the best tools, including MTTY and the CustomRUU run perfectly under this configuration. It is what I use. I have a small partition which I only use for this purpose and keep all the items ther in folders. Radios, ROMs, etc.
You need to find a Windows computer to HSPL your device (only need to do this once), then you can just flash from memory card. Put the .nbh file into your storage card root called leoimg.nbh and enter the bootloader, it'll enter flash mode automatically.

If I was to install Vista on a Macbook Pro doing bootcamp, will it work? This is why I love my Windows PC.

[Help!] Can't manually start bootloader?

I have SPL-2.20.OliNex but still can't enter manually into the bootloader, camera+soft reset doesn't work.
I can install custom ROMs but only if have ActiveSync connection. So I guess if I install Android to NAND it will be impossible to return back to Windows or even update the Android.
What should I do?
I always enter bootloader from the device. I run a little app called bootloader.exe
and once I have the colour bars, then plug to usb
I can not provide the file since I deleted my kitchen. You can download my 23569 ROM and use some tools to simply uncompress all files to a folder in your pc and then find the file and transfer it to the ppc. Then simply execute it from a file explorer and create an icon for future use. You will preserve your ppc hardbuttons and you will access the bootloader mode quicker. Good luck
Here is bootloader for wm,if you are running android via haret you could try Quickboot or Root booter,i know they work on a g1 but im not 100% they work on the polaris.

[Q] Quick developer unlock wp7

Hi there, I saw these posts about developer unlock for windows phone 7. I tried to do every single one of them, but somehow somewhere I always get a mistake... I want to root or however you call it my windows phone 7.5[mango] and i am a noob when it gets about that.... I currently possess HTC Trophy, and i want to do this because i want to be able to send and transfer files via bluetooth. I also tried to install xap files via ie on wp but it say file type not supported... Anyone know a way i can install .xap file on my windows phone 7 that it's easy?
No such thing as a quick developer unlock for HTC phones.
This is the best guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963
Nope
Nope, i need a tutorial on how to install .xap files, and on a link you gave me it says to install .xap file with xap file deployment tool... how the heck am i gonna do that when i can't open xap files since it's developer locked???
3. Download this attachment to your PC: HTC Interop Unlock.xap
4. Connect your device to a PC running Zune and install the xap-file using any xap-deploy-tool. You don't need to start the app. If it starts automatically, you can close it right away.
Currently, the only ways to dev-unlock a Trophy (or other HTC phone) are to get an AppHub account or use a custom ROM.
hmmmmh...
ummm, how do i do that? how do i use or set custom ROM? is there a guide or something... ?
For more device specific instructions and custom ROMs, go to the forums for your device. HTC Trophy, you said
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=809
In order to load a custom ROM, you need to downgrade and change the HSPL/RSPL. For the Trophy see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1503298
As far as deploying XAPs to your phone from your computer, many options exist, but you have to be at least developer unlocked, and the only way is through AppHub right now. Thus, maybe flashing a custom ROM would be a better way to go.
Good Luck! and hit Thanks if you found this helpful.

[Q] Surface Pro 2 Clean install

I just installed the latest Firmware / Drivers MS has pushed through Windows Update,
and i would like to do a clean install so no older driver remnants are left behind and maybe create a separate partition to store data.
- First thing i did was create a bootable usb drive using Microsofts new 'Create Installation Media Tool', I selected 'Windows 8.1 Pro x64' in my native language which is Dutch.
- Then I copied my recovery image to a USB stick and deleted the recovery partition.
Before i continue i still have a few questions and i hope someone here can answer them.
-----
1. If i reinstall Windows can i still use the recovery usb and restore Windows in case something goes wrong during the (clean) installation or does the recovery only work
when the initial installation is untouched?
2. Will Windows automatically recognize the serial number, which i believe is stored in the BIOS / UEFI, and activate Windows?
3. If i do a clean install will Windows recognize and install the wifi adapter or do i need to manually download and install the latest drivers?
First off all: why do you want to re install? There will always be some remnants of old files, but windows does a relatively good job at deleting those (and they don't do any harm). Unless something doesn't work, i wouldn't re-install.
Oh, and you can create a secondary partition without re installing windows. Just re size your current windows partition.
But to answer your questions:
1. Yes, the recovery stick will still work. It even works when the SSD has been wiped.
2. It should activate automatically, but if you want to be sure, you can find your product key with the magical jellybean Keyfinder ( https://www.magicaljellybean.com/downloads/KeyFinderInstaller.exe )
3. Since Surface is a first party Microsoft product, i'd bet they automatically install the drivers.
