can somebody tell me if a class 10 32 GB micro sd memory card will work for the Droid X? Or do I need to get the class 6 or less for it to function properly?
Thank You
Hello,
I have a dumb question.
What is the difference between the 16 and 32 GB versions (besides the obvious)?
Is this the amount of internal storage on the device? Or is it the maximum total amount? I thought I read somewhere that the number represents the amount you can upgrade to, not the amount onboard?
Thanks!
J
Just that one has 16gb internal storage and one has 32gb.

Thank you!!!
So both of them also use an external flash memory card? What is the maximum size (Mb) the external card can be?

32 GB is about the largest micro SD you can find. So that is the limit of what you can ad to the tablet itself. But the dock has a SD card so you can add another 32+ that way. And the dock has 2 USB ports where you could plug in a hard drive for TBs more storage.

wow so if you get the 32 GB version you can have:
32 Gb (built-in) + 32 Gb (tablet) + 32 Gb (dock) = 96 Gb
the next thing i will be getting is an external solid state drive for the USB ports
I have a 32 gig class 10 patriot in my 32 gigger Nothing in my dock yet!
Anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the internal storage? 16GB is probably enough for me, but I was just wondering. With a bit of luck it would just require opening up the case and replacing an internal SD card. Has anyone opened one up yet?

32GB (built-in) + 32GB (microSD) + 64GB (SD) = 128GB
But remember, you can only save apps to the internal memory.

Way more than that. You always connect external hard drives to the USB ports! Terabytes of stored for your TF!
One thing to note is that the 32gb models seem to have less quality issues than the original batch of 16gb units. But that is probably just due to 2nd and 3rd run build improvements. My 32gb doesn't seem to have many of the physical issues that many people are talking about.
What about 64gb sdhc

I would be shocked if its like the Win Phones where its just a micro SD card in there. Likely its soldered to the board because its going to be high speed NAND flash as its used for the OS and Application.
That is one of the reasons, I would bet, that the 32gb is $100 more than a $32 gig card you can get on Newegg. Its not just a Kingston memory card, its likely NAND on die. Now, whether or not you need that much high speed memory is up to you.
That is why I opted for the 16gig, I will probably only have a couple of gigs of apps, but the 4 gigs of music I have on it and then most of the pictures/video etc I would put on the SD card for easy swapping out of content.
If it really is the case that the 32gig is having fewer issues than the 16 and my 16 has a defect then I would upgrade just for that purpose.

Sure it is - any over 4GB SD is SDHC.
But I guess SDXC is being meant?

I just got a 16GB from the latest Best Buy run. They must be improved too, because I notice none of the minor issues some reviews complained about early on, like chassis flex.
About sixteen.
And then the world changed:
http://gizmodo.com/5805482/the-worlds-first-64gb-microsd
Now it's:
32GB (internal) + 64GB microSD + 64GB SDHC= 160GB Total
P.S. I have a 16GB and have none of the issues so far (knocks on wood).
I'm pretty sure that 64GB microSD wouldn't work in the trsnsformer as its SDXC not SDHC. That and probabaly won't see it in stores too soon.
Hey all,
i bought a 64GB MicroSDXC Class 10 / UHS 1 for use in my HTC Sensation XE. It came formatted with exFAT which isnt an option on the Sensation so i reformatted the card to FAT32 (allocation unit size 32KB, was the default setting in the tool i used). Now, when i transfer files while accessing the card via card reader in my computer, the write speed is somewhere between 9 and 10 mb/s, which is fine. When i use the card in my phone though, the write speed for large files is only about 5 mb/s. The really odd thing: for the last months i've been using a 32GB card that also has class 10, and it gave me those 9-10mb/s while using it in the phone, too. Which means the bigger card is considerably slower than the old one, although the speed class is the same, and they both work at they same speed when plugged in in the card reader. Why is the new card working so much slower in my phone?
I need either 16gb or 32 gb but am unsure if these faster cards work in this phone..
this card particularly: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-171-580&IsVirtualParent=1
EDIT: well I ordered this one, hope it works..
IDK what UhS1 is but optimus t supports class 10 sd card AFAIK

read below abouth this sd card, UHS it was introduces in 2009 as standard and O1 was introduced in 2010 as low end device, there are good chances not to work as intended, it will work as normal sd class...(dunno), this card is intended to use USB 3.0 adapters for full speed
http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/d...eed-class,-uhs-speed-class,-and-speed-ratings
"UHS Speed Class was introduced in 2009 by the SD Association and is designed for SDHC and SDXC memory cards. UHS utilizes a new data bus that will not work in non-UHS host devices. If you use a UHS memory card in a non-UHS host, it will default to the standard data bus and use the "Speed Class" rating instead of the "UHS Speed Class" rating. UHS memory cards have a full higher potential of recording real time broadcasts, capturing large-size HD videos and extremely high quality professional HD."

good point... I have it in my p500 now and its working properly....as far as the speed its operating, its probably working at a lower speed... it is a class 10 / uhs-1 card....so I dunno...
at least I've got space now tho ha.. I was using a 4gb class 4 before it..
Hi, I currently use a MicroSD card (Samsung EVO Plus 128 GB MicroSDXC UHS-1 (class 10)) for my music library. This adds a little bit of time to boot up as Android is scanning / indexing the card. Would this still be the case if using a 128 GB USB stick instead? Are there any advantages of using USB sticks over MicroSD cards?

I found that a good quality stick works better. I use Scandisk Extreme Pro usb 3.1 (64gig)
Of course it won't read at the 3.1 level but it does seem to respond pretty fast. I have given up on the micro cards altogether... I find them just too slow.
I carried out a little experiment. I inserted my 128 GB MicroSD card into a USB reader thingy. After Android had scanned / indexed the card, booting up is noticeably quicker. So, USB is the way forward for performance. Obviously the MicroSD card itself isn't slowing it down, it's either the hardware / slot or the cache setting for MicroSD.
