So I am running Vegan 5.1(Which I love), and I just got a new Bluetooth headset which I tried to connect to my tablet so i can play music to my headset during class, however to connect you need to set up with a "0000" pin, which my tablet never asks for. It just says "paired, not connected" and will never connect cause it cant without sending the security pin, is there a way to enable this in vegan 5.1?
Well it depends on the bluetooth you bought because some don't need the pairing code if your in pairing mode hopefully it is A2DP compatible because that's the only way to get music to the headset
My motorola s9 headset said paired but not connected then I long pressed it and I got some other options including connect. The next time it paired automatically but my tab is crashing (and it did) so the very next time after that I had to actually type the pair key 0000 after the long press.
I need to wipe and reinstall everything but I am just waiting till it is totally unusable.

I've done long press and i only have 3 options: Connect, Unpair, Options. Options just has Connect and use device for audio options, but neither let teh device connect nor give the option to enter the pin. Any ideas?
I am running vegan mod, so when you click connect it doesn't? That seems odd... removed dumb question.
I realize this thread is a couple of weeks old but I am having a similar problem and wondered if you ever figured it out.
I am able to connect to my headset and use it to listen. However I have a Creative D100 bluetooth speaker that won't work. It will connect but as soon as I close settings and then start playing music or videos it drops the connection.

or you can use supermono pro
it sends any sound through bluetooth.
i use it for my music and pandora on my phone.
unfortunely my headset wont connect either. what i did to get it to connect is this:
make discoverable
unpair
long press on device and press connect and pair
i can get the pin this way but mine still wont connect. just paired ;(
It is an A2DP speaker. Works great with my Iphone but would love to be able to use it with my gtab for watching Netflix and Hulu through Playon.
It connects fine the connection indicator on the speaker even comes on but as soon as I try to play any type of media the connection drops.
Figured it out. It works fine if I am connected via wifi. If I'm tethered to my phones ad hoc network The bluetooth speaker drops the connection. Guess bluetooth doesn't like ad hoc networks

Is anyone able to automatically connect to a bluetooth device from your captivate? I am using a sony bluetooth receiver a2dp profile so it's basically functioning like a bluetooth headset.
Pairing works. Manually connecting works. But it would be great if the captivate automatically connected to the bluetooth receiver as soon as i turn on bluetooth. It takes almost five clicks to manually connect but only one to turn on bluetooth.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I have a similar problem in that the phone will sometimes "forget" the bluetooth devices that it has been paired with. I then have to do the pairing all over again.
I'm having the same problem - if I turn the phone off & back on again, it won't connect to my car. The bluetooth menu still shows that it's paired, but it won't connect (even if I try to manually connect). The only way to get it to connect again is to turn bluetooth off & back on - then it connects automatically.
Mine connects right away.
I think it is relate to not being able to set the bluetooth to always visable. My fuze had the same problem untill I put the energy rom on it.
I'm having the same trouble. I have to click on the Connect option which is buried in the Bluetooth menu. Annoying.
Are you using a task manager or some sort of helper to keep battery usage low? I found I was having a blue tooth problem until I saw a OPP service pop up on my task manager. Every time I killed apps I had blue tooth problems until I set this service to be ignored and left alone. Now even after I shut off the phone and turn it back on, I quickly connect to my blue tooth headset.
I'm just a noob here and I am thankful to everyone who posts who have helped me so i thought I's throw this out as something to check on.
Hi ppl,
I'm having issues with bluetooth on mytouch4g phone.
To connect it to hands free set I have to every time turn off and then turn on bluetooth on my phone.
Anyone have similar issue?
Is there a setting somewhere to set default device?
Thanks
Do you mean "Hands free mode" or do you mean pairing a stereo BT headset?
With the stock OS -- "Hands free mode" can be set by either 1) starting the Car Dock application, or 2) Using the BT headset phone button or the Genius button to enable speech commands, and saying "Hands Free On" once the phone is ready.
With the stock OS -- pairing of the phone occurs automatically whether the phone or headset is powered up first. Pairing of media (for stereo headsets) will only occur automatically with any degree of regularity -- from experimentation and observation by others, reported on forums like this -- if the phone's BT is powered up =after= the headset. One can manually disable and enable media connectivity after long pressing on the device in the BT settings window, and that will establish the media connection -- but it is probably easier to have a BT power toggle on your home page somewhere.
If neither of these answers the question you were asking, please rephrase it. And of course, for a custom ROM (non-stock OS), ask in the appropriate ROM's thread in the development subforum.
I mean bluetooth at car. I'm able to pair my phone with car and connect with no issues.
If I get into the car with my phone and bt on - it will not establish connection. I have to turn off bt on the phone and turn it back on. Then it will establish connection. It works fine with my old Fuze.

Getting a "Paired but not connected" issue with my bluetooth ear-piece and I've tried everything to get it to connect, even force closing wiping all the data from the bluetooth application and rebooting several times. I've only had this problem since switching from cyanogen mod to vegan tab (Love vegan tab btw) does anyone know some fixes or solutions?
Thanks in advance :3
come on :\ doesnt even one person have a suggestion?
I was able to pair my phone with the Vegan Beta 5.1 gTablet without issue...
I just bought a new headset and will try it and let you know...
Working fine for me as well but when I disconnect I have to re-boot to get audio over speakers on the GTAB

I've found if you plug and unplug a regular wired headset into the headset jack, thst usually fixes the audio be muted on internal speakers.
bluetooth help
I am having the same problem. Tried 2 different headsets, netbook, and my moto droid - but everything says "paired but not connected". nothing works! please help
may be a direction for a fix; DEVs could you clarify for us
I found this in a post today by enigma0456:
More research finally revealed something. BlueGPS4droid at sourceforge not the market. So, the external gps was "paired but not connected" until there was an application (bluegps) to "connect" to. Once that was installed I turned on the bluetooth and it immediately saw the hollux remote gps receiver. Tested it with Maps and it worked beautifully. So theories:
1. If there isn't an app waiting to use the bluetooth device it will pair but not connect until something asks for it.
now I realize this has to deal with gps but as i understand all phone apks have been removed that can be and not lose functionality in order to save battery life in Vegan 5.1 so if the above quote is right then there is no app (phone.apk etc.) to ask for the use of the ear piece and thus the paired but not connected issue.
now some people have mentioned not having issue getting their BT headset to work and maybe this is because the headset offers another use in their programing like they are designed to work like headphones or something and then there would be and app to ask for them and so they connect
the ones that do not work on the other hand like mine are only designed for phone audio; ever notice that on your Droid cell that your headset will say connected to phone audio, well in our case if the phone.apk/s are not there then there is nothing asking to connect to it.
DEVs are there any ideas to get functionality back even it that means adding back the phone.apks--and is that possible to do with our re-flashing a rom like side installing it or an update.zip
Thanks

There is an app on the market, called "headset toggle widget" and that will do the trick and unmute your speakers
Possible workaround...
Don't know if this will help but, after I paired my BT headset with GTAB, I then paired it with another device (my phone) after which GTAB started giving me the paired but not connected message when I tried to connect back to the GTAB. What worked? Well, now before I select the headset device in GTAB's bluetooth device menu, I put the headset itself back into pairing mode. THEN, I select it in GTAB's bluetooth device menu and voilĂ , it connects. Downside, I have to put the headset into pairing mode everytime I want to connect it to GTAB. (Haven't bothered trying to unpair the headset with my phone yet to see if it makes a difference.) Hope it works at least as temp fix for ya.
I have an TF101 running 4.0.3 stock rom, rooted with ViperMOD.
I have a bluetooth speaker, HMDX Audio HX-P230.
It won't pair with my device.
My tablet will see the speaker, but when I try to pair them it gives me an error: cannot communicate with [bluetooth ID].
Now, I know the bluetooth in my tablet works because I use a PS3 control via bluetooth.
I tried resetting my tablet, and disabling and reenabling the bluetooth.
I made ABSOLUTELY sure Sixaxis Controller was not running or started or active in any way.
I know the speakers work because they will pair with my phone.
So why won't they work together?!?!?!?

I'm going to assume that you have tried the pass code of 0000 when pairing the 2 devices. While they are SUPPOSED to work with "all tablets," the majority of the time the manufacturers think ONLY of a tablet as an iPad, instead of the many Android variants out there. Some tablets in the settings you HAVE to enable audio over bluetooth, while others do it automatically.
Also I've found often times when trying to pair devices the one that you want to pair with i/e your speaker, turn it off wait 15 seconds, turn it back on and make sure that the lights are flashing showing it is searching for a host. Then under the tablet settings have the tablet search for the device, and try to pair with it. It will either do 1 of 3 things. Auto pair without prompting for the pass code, or it will put the pairing on hold until you input the pass code, in this case 0000, or it will fail.
You might have to go into your phone and "forget" the pairing connection with the speaker for it to be able to be found and used by another device.
Guys, I have a BT device in my car that is connected to my car audio system. I've set up my nexus 5 to connect to it, and it works great, but there is one flaw - the phone won't auto connect to it when I turn it on, I will have to turn BT off and back on on my phone for it to discover the car BT and then it will immediately connect to it. *I always leave the BT on on my nexus5 in hopes that it will auto connect but in never does, only auto connected about 4 times out of the dozens of times iv'e used it. any ideas?

I don't know if this is a flaw with your Bluetooth device or your phone. I have some devices that auto-connect and some that don't. I doubt you car BT device will have many options (if any) but maybe check and see (if you haven't already) if it has an auto-connect option or something along those lines.
Do you have any other BT devices you can test connecting and disconnecting to/from like you would your car? Eliminate if it's the stereo or your phone. You could also using something like Tasker and create a profile to do what you want. Just a thought.
Hope this helps.
It's most likely the fault of your cars Bluetooth system. Some just don't reliably autoconnect. Try a kinivo bt module 40 bucks on Amazon, works perfectly.

Hey buddy, thanks for the thoughtful reply, I'll try and see if I can find another BT device to test my phone with. One thing I did test today, that I don't do every day, is to turn my phone BT off and back on BEFORE turning on the BT device I have in my car, then I turned the device on, and it connected immediately.. This shows its more likely to be a fault with the phone..

I'll try and find it on ebay, Amazon does ship to my country but for some reason the shipping cost is the same or sometimes more than the item itself..
my BT device connects to phone on power up, e.g. when start car
Well, today it auto connected, I got in my car with my son, and didn't have a chance to unlock the phone to check if it connected to the BT, but when I checked, about 20 minutes after getting in my car, the BT was connected. this got me thinking maybe there's a connection delay, when I'll leave work today I'll see if it'll connect on it's own after leaving it alone.

I use PlayerPro to autostart playing when bluetooth is connected. It's better than PowerAmp.

Mine won't auto connect to bluetooth until I've gotten far enough from my house that my phone disconnects from WiFi. Maybe this was what you experienced too? I'm unsure.
