Good app, but you can find it on the market so no need to post the apk
Ive really come to like vital player, especially how you can take screen captures

Really good app.
And try to always post the apk link as many of us don't have access to the market.
I for instance have H1droid in Samsung H1 i8320 and unfortunately no 3g signal and no wifi.
updated to v1.2.. see 1st post
Can't get it working on my Nexus S....
Is it possible to get this app to see /sdcard2 and /usbdisk for those of us using devices with internal storage and USB host?

It is not working with Gingerbread yet.
Check back on the Market for when the Dev updates to 2.3 Compatible.
Few things that comes into my mind:
Two of the best ones I consider is rockplayer and vplayer. Here's a few feedback:
1) In terms of speed/playing file types , at least on my phone they're all about the same, probably because they are all based on ffmpeg. Every 720p plays with the same issue. This is above vplayer because of hardware support and on par with rockplayer.
2) Love the interface. Its pretty well-designed. Love how the RR and FF have an adjustable seek Very useful. Just wish there is gesture support as I'm a bit spoiled .
3) Love the black and white mode. Makes it seem like you are watching one of those old TV back in the days. Really nice effect.
4) Hate the 'R' logo in rockplayer and ads in general, but this one is not very intrusive. Very nice .
Overall one of the top video players out there.
Your player is AMAZING !!!
ANd as you know, Your player does not have one option...
And this would be best for listening to audiobooks....
You know that feeling when someone talk slowly.....with.......not...................so important.............pauses
.................and breaks............................and you want just to
......................listen for information............and this is so annoying .
And as you know it is possible to talk faster....
And as you know this would keep listener focused......
So now.... when you know that this feautere could be important...
You can just why not add option to increase speed of playing without changing pitch of voice ?
Just to have some slider to increase tempo as user want, for example 2 times faster, or 1.5.
Without changing pitch so it would not make voice silly high...
Because that feature can make your player best ever.
has anyone tried it on the x10 mini pro?? is it smooth?? does it have any widget function?? cant wait to try it later on..
Player would fine I guesss, but without a way to remove ads and watermark I do not want it. I would pay for an as free version.
Here in my Motorola Milestone 1 2.1 firmware didnt played MKV, it frozen the video a lot.
Sorry for the english.
Works on HTC Legend with Gingerbread (CM7) smooth!!!
Thank u!!!
yeah this player is really good, install to my Dell Sreak and plays smoothly. But one option missing that is screen orientation.
I think the best player ever for now.
Plays great, but mp4 files, and files converted to mkv format via mediafox play too fast - sound seems ok but it's playing almost 2x speed. Any ideas?
Vplayer
Hi
I am assuming you have created the Vital player or Vplayer. I have bought this app and i have to say its very impressive in terms of play back. But what i would like to see is subtitle support. I cant find anywhere on the app for where i can attach a subtitle that i had previously downloaded.
Another app that does this well is mvideoplayer. This has the option to search on your phone a subtitle and attach it to the video. But the playback is kinda jerky and laggy. Is there any way of getting subtitle support.
Thanks

So I downloaded moboplayer and qq player and both can play movies fine from sd card however with ear buds and volume the sound is very weak (soft). I suspect (though not sure) some of it might be my encoding (it was ripped from a dvd on a linux box - I own the dvd so I can re-encode if that is the issue).
I've played these on my netbook and the sound is ok; a bit weak but not nearly as weak on the transformer.
-
The video plays fine from the ssd card so that aspect is working great. Some of the videos are mp4 others are h.264; the h.264 are a bit louder.
h.264 isn't a container.
The container (I believe) is avi for all of them and the encoding is mepg4 and h.264. However my issue is with the max volume and not the container or encoding (unless that impacts max volume).
ok linux is great; linux tools are great; the tool was using to rip the dvd (acidrp - which is a wrapper around mencode) allows you to set the gain. I had it set to 0 which actually decrease volume; boosting it to 2 did wonders.
There is an app in the market called volume boost. I havent tried it and am not sure if it's compatible with HC but worth a shot maybe?
Another option may be to find a media player that allows you to boost the volume. One of the reasons I like the VLC player on my PC is the ability to easily double the volume (200%) beyond the default levels of the media file.
I know there are a few variations of the VLC player on the Android Market but they don't appear to be official ports and some getting a few bad reviews. Still, if they perform a specific piece of functionality that you need, they may be worth a try. There may be other android apps out there with this same option.
Yea I use mplayer and vlc on linux; neither are available yet for HC. vlc is rumored to be out soon. Anyways I think this did the trick; will encode a couple of dvds tonight and test them tomorrow.

I hit the same issue myself, and so have already been down the same road as the OP. Obviously the best solution is to reencode your videos at a higher volme. However, I also went the other route.
I tried the Volume Boost app, but it did absolutely nothing on the Transformer. However, another app called Volume+ works well. The boost isn't huge, but it's definitely quite noticeable. You can download the app for free from the developer's website if you enable installing apps from outside the market, or you can just buy it in the market. The version I downloaded for free works for volume, but note that most of the graphic equalizer settings do nothing or have an adverse effect with the Transformer.
Hope this info's of help to someone!
Volume+ seems to work fairly well; wonder if it has a negative.

Just guessing, but I doubt it has much impact on speed or battery life -- it's likely just tweaking a setting under the hood. Hence probably the only negative impact is reducing audio quality if you dial it up too far (although for the Transformer, it seems even the maximum setting is conservative enough.)
volume+ kinda works...
i absolutely love moboplayer and hopefully it will implement its own volume boost
yeah using volume+ works on mine too!
what volume boost did you guys put it at?
+6 ? +7?
+8 sounds really bad lol

This is a movie manager for your tablet (and soon phone running ICS).
Your movies and TV shows are identified and in just one click you could watch them with your favorite player.
free version (no ads) :
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.adree.moviebrowser
paid version with UPnP/DLNA support :
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.adree.moviebrowser.upnp
little bump just to let you know the app now support samba (without root) and new layouts for ICS phones.
best wishes
Hi
Great app just got the paid version. Me I had trouble since my server lost often upnp connectivity but samba as protocol overcomes this problem. Nevertheless further improvements are visible. I would like to remove manually some movies it detects and would like as well to manually change some movie information.
I think especially for series the automatic detection works only poorly.
Hope some will be fixed in next update.
Keep up the good work !
nice i think but to try
Thanks for the feedback,
I know I need to work on a way to manually identify series, atm I'm working on some little UI improvment like creating tabs for video sources and grouping by seasons then I will work on that for sure.
Regards
Hi welcome
Actually I judged a little bit too fast, most series I was able now to include. Is there a way to differentiate between the different seasons ? For example I do have multiple Dexter seasons but can't distinguish them until I click on one of the item. Then it would say season 1 or 2 but they do have the same icons...
Would this work with a Pogoplug device as well? The device support UPnP so I guess it would right?
Obviously yes, and in case the device as trouble to be recognised you can still use Samba.
If you want to be sure try the free version, the browser in the setup screen will show your device if its recognised.
Great App!!!
This is a great app I got the paid version.
Just finished renaming a bunch of my TV episodes.
Some of my movies didn't translate to the right IMBD number Example: 2012: Ice Age was resolved as Ice Age:continental Drift with is a Animated Movie. Not sure if there is another option to maybe include more description in my File Name to get the right movie.
I need some help with the Samba settings in moviebrowser and windows 7. Is it possible to look at the movies over 3G?
[Edit] I figured it out to configure samba in my own network, but over the internet seems it be a bit more complicated.
Hi
thanks for the latest update, really brought some improvements!
Any progress on two important points, manual editing and manual removal of unwanted
movies ? The first one I overcame now by just renaming the files, but the second one
keeps being a little bit annoying. For example I do have a few movies which
then contain several video files, only one being the actual movie. Not being able
to remove the other ones adds unwanted extra films which I cant remove.
Keep on , updating !
@sweborn : To browse over the INTERNET you should look at upnp/dlna. some servers offer this option and its easily/safely configurable.
@ebioman : Its coming soon now have lot of idea in mind its just a matter of prioritizing.
best regards
Does it work on smartphone?
Just want to say I love this app and bought the pro UPNP version!
I was so happy to see the addition of the TVDB api and I just LOVE the ability to fold all seasons into one using tabs!
Great Feature since I have a lot of TV stuff on my Server.
But there are still some bugs in the scraping aspects.
For one I can't seem to get the Looney Tunes collection to scrape properly. I know this is a special case as it uses years for Season Info not the usual 01,02 Etc...
S00 Scrapes properly but I suspect in the API implementation you may be truncating the season as the 4 number seasons do not seem to scrape properly and be incorporated into the season.
I also have an issue with remakes such as Day of the Dead where both wind p with the newer icon despite proper year being noted in the title.
Again I would suspect the full title (like the fll season number) is being truncated somehow.
As to what everyone else said I would love to be able to manually edit the Images and descriptions for movies I have that would not scrape because they are personal or un documented.
But all that aside I love this program you made!
EDIT: One feature I would like to see added is if the default meta source (in my case MovieDB and TVDB) comes up empty that the program should also look at IMDB
How can you choose which video player? I have bsplayer and MX player and I can't choose bsplayer

Well for one your selections for players are limited by the filetype your trying to play and where your playing it from.
You choose the video player on first play and I suspect you may have set one as the default which would inhibit the program from asking again.
What player does it default to on playback?
Find that player in you Settings Applications and clear any defaults it has set.
Go back to Movie browser, try and play something and it should pop up a list of the players it can use.
If your bsplayer doesn't show in that list then it doesn't support that filetype.
If you don't check use player by default it will ask you for which player to use each time.
Filemasks for search?
Any chance to get exclusion filemasks for search setup? For example the recordings from my htpc all have the channel name being included as part of name being searched: Example: "A Walk in the Clouds WWLFDT2" and the lookup fails due to the channel name...exclusion filemasks could be added so that _WWLFDT2_ in the filename gets converted to just "_" before doing a search.
Any chance we can have a version that works on Android 2.3?
I just bought a media player an having this app would be awesome
its this one btw.

Been using this for a while on my tablet (TF101) and has been great (uPNP version)!
just got a google tv box (logitech revue) and have downloaded this for its primary use on there (I have ESFile Explorer and GTVBox players installed, vplayer and other not working) - seeing the following issues:
1. The view in google TV means that you can only see 2 movies at a time, makes it quite slow to move around - can you a include a specific theme for gtv (for me, would be a wallpaper of all covers, with a second page for individual movie details?)
2. I cannot get a movie to play from the browser - it seems to be favouring GTVBox over ES video player (even though no defaults are set) and goes to a blank screen with the honeycomb circle (please wait) showing continuously
I have the movie files on an external hard drive connected to the USB input, so no uPNP issues to worry about - I will try moving a movie onto the internal memory tonight to see if that changes anything??
any tricks to try would be appreciated - looking for this to be my main app on the lgoitech (so that my son lets me have my tablet back!)
Improvements for GTV
I am actually glad I read this. GTVBox has been giving me headaches in the video streaming category & I was curious about this on when looking through Google Play. Other than the issues below are you planning on adding a more in-depth video search? Most of my videos are in their own sub-folders & they are divided up by genre.
Plus I did see that the app appears to go to the GTVBox video player which makes me apprehensive in purchasing the full version. If you can add like genre folders & have the app point to the default player when selecting a movie I'd by this in a heartbeat. But seriously, 15min is not enough time for me to fully test out the paid version to see if this is what I am looking for.
I am impressed with the movie database look-up though, really cool!

The media library find and show all your media files automatically with thumbnail and other info like type , last play time and so on.
Or...you can shake your phone to hide some files you dont want others to find.
Let's talk about the "Unique features"
RockShare : with RockShare , you can share your files with your friends just use your phone, your don't have to find a PC and USB line, you don't have to take your SD card anymore. RockShare is available for both Android and iOS, You can exchange files with any of your friends whose phone installed RockPlayer2 and in the same WIFI with you . File transfer speed can be as fast as 9MB/s.
Customize Pannel: To make the playback View simple and clean , we make the control bar customizable . Users can choose which button they need and where they put it .Just long press any button of the control bar , you will get the customize pannel and find what you like. So you can get most of the view for movie but not like some other player app , put all the buttons on a playback view .

At last , here I make a movie for RockPlayer2, hope you like it .
For more information ,please go out website: http://rockplayer.com/rp2/en/
hope more guys know and try my app
This is a cool idea, any way to make it pull music from google music?
looks interesting but not a big fan of the notepad background. IMO keep it simple and clean.
If you make it pull music from Google music I'll purchase it for $10

hah..we are thinking about how to make it come true.
I tried RockPlayer2 out for a little bit. I ultimately settled on MX Player. MX Player appeared to offer smoother playback for my HD MKV files AND it supports subtitles far better 9embedded and external).....just my 2 cents when I tried out both Players on my SGS3 today.

Thanks for trying RockPlayer2, cause we rewrote decode engine , we still need more time to optimize for different phones to make it better . The subtitle support , we have just finish the code of better support , we will push it in several days with some other amazing features, so please give me more time .

RockPlayer2 V2.3.1, a bug fix update to V2.3.1 released a few days ago.
We removed advertisements and in-app-purchase, most likely they will not be back but we reserve the right . I'd like say a few words for the decision. Most of us are code farmers, who believes it would be a piece of cake to get enough money to maintain this company from the app , but we are wrong. Fortunately (or not?), we figured out a way, to provide media playback solution and service. That's why we left for a while and now we are back.
V2.3 is based on the SDK itself, including quite a lot improvements to the playback engine. The engine has been used for those projects with all kinds of rare cases, from chipset turn-key solution, 3D VR headset player, client of media service provider to app like web browser, it is much more faster and stable than before, the seeking is fluent and reliable.
Feature side, there is no change yet and they are coming.
//03-14 2014
There is a bug in our RockPlayer2 V2.2.6, when you press the "refresh" button of MediaLibrary, you will get nothing.
Sorry for this problem but we are hardly working on it, a new update will be released in days.
//08-02 2013
We have release RockPalyer2 for Android V2.2.4, support Android 4.3 now.
Due to Google's changing in internal codes, RockPlayer2 can't works on Android 4.3 before v2.2.4. Now it has been fixed and run perfectly on Android 4.3.
We suggest every RockPlayer2/RockPlayer Lite user upgrade to v2.2.4 if you want try Android 4.3.

So you can get most of the view for movie but not like some other player app , put all the buttons on a playback view .
we also add great support for gestures and streaming playback , you can handle everything just using one hand.
At last , here I make a movie for RockPlayer2, hope you like it .
For more information ,please go out website: http://rockplayer.com/rp2/en/ and find us on Google Play. Those without Play Store access can download the APK directly.
hope more people know and try my app
Tried your rock player its very good. I but just a feedback that when we select software decoding it starts to lag.
Secondly the audio level is too low. You need to do something about the audio levels as you need to enhance them or you can also add some effect like Dolby, stereo or anything else

Very smooth, love it on my Note 10.1
No subtitle support? No pinch to zoom?
looks good going to check it out now
Album Art
Very nice media player,
it would be great if you can add album art to music files :good:

Hi guys, I think I've delayed the announcment quite a bit but here is a new app we have been working on for a while.
Showtime is an innovative video player that has many features and you can search videos from YouTube. With the Pop-up player, you can play a video and use any other android app for those of you who like to multi-task. You can also play with fullscreen or minimise the playing video to the notification tray. If your device is powerful enough, you can open multiple Pop-up windows. This app has the following features to give you the best seamless and intuitive experience.
Resizable Pop-up player which can also play local videos from your video gallery
Minimise and play in the background
Change video resolutions from 144p up to 1080p
Tab sliding interface for easy navigation
Connect to your YouTube account (Access to Watch Later, My Uploads, Playlists…)
Ad free [Paid]
If you have any problems with the app, please do not leave a low feedback, contact us and we will try to respond to you shortly.

Absolutely unbelievable. Your app puts into shame Youtube official app. It's playing flawless HD videos on my old Xperia Neo. Now it's time to uninstall crappy Youtube app, which doesn't even support HD playback for older devices.
@ermacwins
Could you please try to provide latest apk in the OP? Trying to install via PlayStore on my Xperia Ray fails the compatibility check.
Awesome app the only downside for me is the icon and logo were meh. But this is the best YouTube app on android.

Great app !!
Is it possible to minimize straight from the app without shrinking the video first ?
Looks really nice! Leaving footprint.
The features of this app + the features and the look of the new YouTube app = pure awesomeness. Just a thought. :good:

Great idea ...4,5/5
only bad thing ...the scrolling lags a bit ..and the video thumbnail loading takes a sec ....i love it

Great player, I love the multitasking ability. Would it be possible to have the app open to What to Watch? Also have the ability to open Gallery videos from within the app itself?
I think the idea and actual functionality of this player is brilliant but it also still needs quite some polish.
Performance of menus aren't the best, and somehow the layout of the shown video in the time line looks a hit squashed, at least on the Nexus 7.
But if performance improves and some small things get fixed, this could even replace the native app.
Finally I'm able to reply to comments and it gives you much more information at once anyways.
Very promising app, please keep it up
Just purchased the full version, as this is a pretty powerfull YouTube app that will likely only get better. I would suggest an option for a dark theme in the settings menu. The Style menu is can't seem to invert the video cards on the main menu that feature the videos. I love running all dark apps on my phone, so having a quick setting in the menu for a dark theme would be a blessing, so I won't have to change the colors on my own every time I wipe my device and flash a new ROM.
Besides that, this app is wonderful. The ability to play real HD videos is perfect. It's way better than the app Google provides. I'm going to recommend to my followers that they check out your app.
I was playing a video on my Nexus 7 2013 when I noticed a little quirk. It is impossible to tune a video to a certain time with the navigation bar enabled in landscape. The app does not resize to accommodate the navigation bar. I've attached a screenshot to show this in action. You can see in the image how when you touch the screen, the navigation bar pops up and blocks that area of the app.
Can't wait to try this out, but I have to wait till I get back. Going to an area with no cell service and creepingly slow internet.:crying::crying::crying:
