you need to goto the folder that adb is located in first.
use my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878786
if you want to be able to use it anywhere.

Boot Animation with SkyRaider

Sorry about the post but I cannot find the post were it tells me how to install custom boot animations. I also need to be able to do the sounds. As far as I understand I have to put it in the media folder. I found the original one but it does not allow me to move it. I'm assuming I have to do it from recovery but I don't know how. Detailed instructions would be appreciated. I have a cold and the old brain is doing so well. Thanks
s-off your dinc and you can do it while booted
I was trying to avoid that because they do not have a way to undo s-off yet. Just incase my phone dies I dont want verizon to say I voided the warranty. Any way to do it without?
You can flash some of them from rom manager...that's how I did mine.
If you have rooted your phone, which you must have in order to install a custom ROM, you've already voided your warranty.
Adding S-OFF wouldn't change anything in the eyes of Verizon, and you can always drop your phone until it's physically broken if you need to take it in.
rom manager -> download rom -> Ihtfp69 -> boot animations -> download -> pick one
thats where i got mine from

Did mine 'manually', since I'm rooted I have clockwork mod installed.
1. Boot into recovery (clockwork mod)
2. launched android SDK adb daemon
3. moved file from 'tools' folder of sdk to the proper destination on the phone.
4. Done.

I'm not sure how to do step 2 your referring to. If you have a link to a thread that explains how to do that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you have to go to the android website and download the android SDK. Install it somewhere on your computer that's easy to access, preferably put the folder at the root of one of your hard drives.
You'll go into command prompt after that to do a lot of the work to transfer files.
So, make sure USB debugging is enabled (just in case) and boot your phone into cwm recovery. Connect the phone to your computer via USB.
in command prompt, cd to the android sdk's tools directory. From there, you can use the adb commands to transfer files.
So, for me, after connecting the phone I do the following in command prompt:
cd G:
cd androidsdk/tools
and then I use ADB to communicate with phone, first by verifying the phone is connected:
adb devices
(if adb is on your pc, it will auto run the daemon if it is not running)
If your phone shows up in recovery mode, you're set.
You may need to go into cwm and mount your system/sd card before transferring the file.
From there, you use adb shell to acess the phone's file systems.
If you put the boot animation to the phone you'll do something like (while in shell) mv bootanimation.zip system/somethingorother/bootanimation.zip
But don't take the above line as gospel. I dont remember the exact command line to use. Check the thread on "How 2 - ADB, Rooting...." for a list of commands in ADB shell and search for a webpage that gives basic linux commands.

Trouble using ADB with windows

I was able.to get the command prompt up but when I run adb devices it just gives the error "adb is not recgonized as an internal or external command, operatable program or batch file. I loaded.the drivers and changed the PATH, but its like its not connecting. I have a Motorola Atrix. I even installed PdaNet in case it was the drivers but that didn't work either. Iam a noob to android and have never used adb. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I believe that after you change the PATH you need to either reboot the computer or maybe just log out and back in to make that change. Are you sure what you added into the PATH is pointed to the directory where adb resides (android-sdk-windows/platform-tools?) ?

[Q] Setting up ADB for my Vibrant on Mac OS X

I've been following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917237&nocache=1 to set up ADB for my phone and macbook, and when i try the "./adb devices" command to try and ID my device, it isn't working. Ive already downloaded the SDK package from the website, copied and pasted "adb" and "fast boot" into the root of my sdk file in the bundle. I included some snapshots in case I'm inputting the file path incorrectly. Any help would be awesome! My power button stopped working on my phone so I'm trying to set up ADB so i can just adb reboot whenever my phone shuts off or anything like that. The first screenshot is my current file path for the adb and fastboot files and the second is just my attempts at trying the "./adb devices" command.

First, it's impossible to access your phone's adbd server when it is off.
And adb needs to be in the current folder.
Use ls to see the contents of the folder you are in.
You should try ./adb first.
It's better to boot hirens boot cd.
Then use the tool in my signature.
An even better way to do this is to trust your technolust and take your phone apart and try to identify and fix the problem, or put it back to stock and send it in for warranty.

Your welcome!
I'm happy to help any time.
the . indicates the current folder(directory)
so when you type ./adb
it executes the adb file in . (the current folder)
ls is a command for listing the contents of the current folder. (Just like the dir command on windows)
Before you type ./adb you would want to make sure that adb is in . (The current folder)
Get it?

Ahhh that makes sense.. so when I'm running terminal and since the adb file is in the sdk folder, i should make the command path (cd /Users/..etc) go up to the sdk folder in this case?

adb start-server
adb kill-server
adb push file destination
adb pull file destination(>optional)
adb shell (Open a terminal on the device in your pc terminal window)
adb reboot
adb reboot-bootloader(Only useful if your device will stay at the bootloader for fastboot stuff eg: nexus and htc devices)
adb reboot recovery
examples for adb pull would be
adb pull /sdcard/dcim/
adb push doggy.jpg /sdcard/Download/doggy.jpg
There has got to be an adb guide here somewhere on Xda.
If not then go look up some common adb commands.
Have fun with adb.
(I'm anxious to see you fix your phone.)

I'm also sure that you know to use the ./ before adb with all of these commands right?
adb guide for windows
Even though its an adb guide for windows, im sure you'll be able to get just as much knowledge from it.
They also might have something on xda university for this stuff.(Which you should totally check out )

LG G2 CM 11 BOOTLOOP! Help please!

hello guys, i just installed a nightly cm 11 on my LG G2 D805, i used a trick to convert it to D802, so its ok, but when i install the zip, i got stuck in the bootloader, i already wiped the data and cache, system, etc, the problem is i cant download and install another zip because the LG G2 has no SD ! ...i cant add more files to install, i need help, how i can unbrick my phone? please!
Can you enter the download mode?
This is easily solvable, I've had a few issues like you since the Nexus 5 does not have an SD Card slot either.
What you'll need to do is set up ADB, Google it if you don't have it.
Then go to where you have the contents (adb files). Or you can go into cmd (command promt) and type in "cd your/adb/folder/destination" if you haven't done the "cd" method simply go into the adb folder. And open a cmd window there, once open. Boot your device into recovery mode and plug in your cable to your PC. So that it detects your device.
Then in the command prompt window type the following command - "adb devices" (This will run adb and it'll check to see if adb is properly installed, if your device does not pop up, make sure you cable is in properly. If it still doesn't show, you will have to install the drivers for your device again... Properly).
Now it should list your device, go into the G2 section and download the preferred rom.
Once downloaded simply type this in the command prompt window.
Adb push path/to/rom.zip /sdcard
Eg - adb push c:/user/user/Downloads/cm11.zip /sdcard
Now this should push the .zip to your internal memory, in the recovery mode (after adb has down its job). Simply wipe data and install the .zip c:
Your device should work.
If I helped, don't hesitate to hit that Thanks button

Please help , Stuck on Loading Screen.

I try to hard reset but I'm still stuck on loading screen. How do I add a zip file to my sd so I can flash it, since it doesn't even detect my oneplus on my computer? Please help me and lend me your knowledge and power =].
Can you boot in bootloader and connect it through adb and fastboo with your pc? in that case it would be easy to reflash everything
I can boot into fastboot and TWRP but I'm wondering how can I add file into my internal hard drive since it doesnt detect the phone on my computer?
Any help with some instructions would be really nice =] :good:
Do you see it using "adb devices" or "fastboot devices" ?
If not, you must update your adb drivers on your computer and reboot it
right now its on MTP USB Device as my device on my Device Manager, can you link me to the proper usb driver? Because I"m pretty sure I updated it and it was working while my phone is working. Also how can I check if its using adb devices?

Anyone still here so they can help me?
So as asked previously, when you connect via fastboot, and boot it into TWRP, do you see it via adb ("adb devices" command in the platform-tools folder)? Did you try adb push <filename> /sdcard/ ?
yes i see adb push , but there's no file there. How can i add file there?

Use an adb push command to send a ROM zip to your phone.

@M I N E, go read the sticky posts in the general section. It will explain how to do an adb push command.
@timmaaa and others have done a great job with some write ups for this device.

Or do a factory wipe then go into TWRP -> Advanced -> ADB Sideload -> Swipe
adb sideload <name-of.zip>.zip (ensure the .zip is in the same folder as your fastboot/adb) and then it'll send the zip over to the phone and flash.
I prefer the adb sideload method as it pretty much pushes the file over to the phone and then flashes it afterwards.
Either method is fine though.
If OP has problems with drivers, I recommend using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386956 they work great.
what is the push load command? How can i push something if i dont have any file on my phone to flash? can you guys type out the command?

Read the post above you that I posted. Use that command as well as the instructions and you can flash a file using adb sideload.
well I try factory swipe nothing there, i check the TWRP , no files is there i mean nothing. And I cant do adb push because my when i type adb devices it doesnt recognized, because how can i turn on debugging if my phone doesnt have any rom?

You're not reading my message properly. I'm telling you to do adb sideload. Please read what I said carefully word-by-word.

The whole point of adb sideload is that you're sideloading a flashable zip that is not on your phone but on your computer and you're pushing the file onto your phone which will followup with flashing the zip.
You need to be typing adb sideload on your computer with the proper environment for adb set up with the proper drivers installed if you haven't already.
