Hey guys, I've searched for this, and can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I used to own an HTC HD2 with the stock WM6.5, and what I loved about its web browser is that after pinch-to-zooming any web text, the text would automatically re-fit itself to the borders of the screen. However, on my Nexus One and my new Nexus S I've noticed that no matter what I do, the only way to actually get the text to fit nicely on the page is to either double tap the screen (which decides its own level of zoom) or to use the little zoom +/- buttons. Is there any way that I can have the simplicity of pinch to zooming with having the text auto-fit itself to the page? Thanks.
actually the browser does the same thing you are asking. there are a few methods.
first, load any random webpage, double tap, and yes it zooms in to default level and re-flows the text.
but, just use pinch to zoom, go to your desired level, then double tap that text, and it will re-flow the text at that specific zoom level to the edges of the screen. just like you want.
Thanks for the quick response. Indeed, I have been double tapping after pinch to zooming to get the text to auto-fit, but my question is if it's possible to have the text auto-fit immediatley after pinch-to-zoom without the additional step of double tapping. Yes, it's only one extra step, but just curious if there's any way around it.
Dolphin browser has this setting. Also cm rom in cm settings also has it.

Where in dolphin settings would I find the appropriate setting? Thanks in advance!
Settings, then advanced. Then you have 2 settings, open in overview and auto fit to page. In your case untick open in overview and check fit to page.

This has helped me too - Thanks
What is cm rom though?
Cyanogenmod, the most popular android custom rom. It requires root, obviously.

Ive searched around for a while and havent been able to find anything but is there anyway to stop the browser from automatically resizing the text whenever you zoom in. I find it kinda annoying and i cant find anything in settings. Thnx.

I'm confused. You don't want the text to ZOOM when you ZOOM? ZOOMING, by definition, gives you a close up, which makes things appear bigger.

I am with homeslice on this one. In the browser settings you can select default text size. But when you zoom in and out the text will always change proportionately with the zoom. I personally have never used a browser on a phone or a computer that was any different.
Is there any way to get the text to wrap when double tapping or zooming in the stock browser? Does Chrome do this yet? I know this is possible on HTC phones but I have not been able to get this to work on the gs3.
The screen is so big on this phone that it hasn't bothered me as much, but I'd really like the ability to read larger text on those espn articles.
Opera Mobile does that perfectly.
I have the size text to fit Page option enabled in chrome and it works pretty darn well on viewing pages, mainly forums. Big difference with this option on chrome compared to the stock browser.

I only use Opera now, because its text reflow is very good. Stock and Chrome do not reflow for me, which is a serious usability omission for any mobile browser, IMHO.

Ok so i did a little research and nothing so far. I have a picture that i want to make my homescreen. I want to make it not have scroll but every app i found just blows it up and just centers the picture. i saw something about modded touch wiz but im hoping to find a easier way because honestly im on the run. I just want the image to be cropped to fit with no scroll.
Any help?
Try this app. It caused no excessive battery drain and it made it easy to set walls the way I wanted to. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cellophanesoftware.superwalllite
Also, you could download picspeed wallpaper app. It offers the ability to set a wall through the gallery using it and you can choose portrait mode. See screenshots. In the first pic, you'll select the 2nd option from the bottom. In the 2nd pic, you'll select the highlighted box on the left under the pic for portrait mode.
Good luck, let me know of any questions.

Picspeed is this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.srsdev.wallpapers
The first one is a live wallpaper app, it will only show up if you select live wallpaper option. This is the reason I mentioned the piece about the minimal battery drain when using it. Go with Picspeed and see if it works for you first though. You may also have to use a 3rd party gallery to select the photo before setting it as your wall. I use quickpic cause it's fast. I just open quickpic, navigate to the photo I want, press menu soft key, select set as, select the option shown above in the pic, and boom! Works every time.

I just got a new phone and the stock messenger app does not have pinch to zoom like my last 2 phones did. I can increase the font size to make the message readable for me but it makes the message list unreadable. I also use androids triple tap magnification a lot, but it is not ideal for reading messages.
I've installed then uninstalled a bunch of messenger apps and none of them have pinch to zoom so far.
Anyone know of a decent messenger app that has a pinch to zoom feature? I would be glad to pay as long as it's not subscription based.
Thanks,
Jerry

Try looking in system settings>accessibility settings and look around in there to see if you have a setting to enable "triple tap to zoom".

Thanks. I use triple tap zooming all the time, but it is not ideal for reading messages. The minimum zoom level is too much so you have to use 2 fingers and drag all over the place. With pinch to zoom in a messaging app you only need to scroll up and down like you would normally do without zooming.

It is a Moto G6 (Straight Talk) running Oreo 8.0.0. After so many install/uninstalls of messaging apps I had to factory reset, lol. For the time being I've settled on Pulse. I can max out the text size on the messages without messing with the rest of the UI. With just a little difficulty I'm able to read my messages without magnification now.
