[Q] Unable to deploy ANY apps, after an app failed to deploy - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, I'm beating my head on a wall here so I figured I'd ask if anyone else has seen this happen and/or has any other suggestions I can try.
I tried deploying an app to my phone using "WP7-Deployer". The app deployed but then I received an error when the app attempted to run (the app probably had protection on it). So I went to go and uninstall the app, but first problem, the app did not appear on the phone (appears like it failed to deploy?). So I tried to download and install the app through the Marketplace (both on the phone and through the Zune app). The Marketplace on the phone tells me that the app is already installed and that it needs to be updated, but when you tell it to update it gets through the download and attempts to update but fails. The Zune app on the desktop says that the software has already been purchased.
The next problem I'm seeing now is that I can't seem to deploy ANYTHING to the phone (either through "WP7-Deployer" or "Tom XAP Installer v1.1". I've made sure that the phone is connected using the "WPConnect" method, and I've verified that the phone is still unlocked by checking it in Chevron.
So what am I missing? Has anyone had a similar issue? Is there anyway to fix this without resetting the phone?

I don't see any other things you can do except for resetting the phone... And next time you should take the "Quick XAP Deployer 1.4" (or fast? idk..) and tick the first two checkboxes.

Thanks for the reply DomiKamp. I actually meant the "Quick WP7 XAP Deployer v1.4" by eried when I said "WP7-Deployer" (wp7-deploy.exe is the name of his file). I've always checked all three check boxes in the deployer app (remove signatures, remove DRM, and launch the app) and I have those settings stored.
I just wish I knew what the problem is so that me or others can avoid it in the future. I guess I will reset my phone and report back on my findings.

I already solve my probleme.......I only reinstall and repair the framwork 4.0 and windows phone development tools
work!!!

How do I export installed applications to ipk?

With things getting progressively worst for webOS, I was wondering if there is a relatively simple way to export my installed applications to ipk for backup reasons?
I am thinking about erasing everything and starting fresh, but this will cause me to lose the installed applications.

You can't revert an app to an ipk... But you can retain an ipk during install for archiving.
http://forums.webosnation.com/webos-tips-info-resources/322549-how-retain-app-ipks-app-catalog.html
The issue I am having is that it refuses to connect to the app catalog. I am not sure if it is still running or if the certificate was never downloaded before the old one expired, but if I were to reset everything, I would not be able to re download the applications. (cant find any way to fix the certificate issue as I missed the update)

The App Cat is still running...
Have you tried the official fix? https://developer.palm.com/support/applicationupdate
Installing the Updates after July 23rd
For users of ALL webOS devices:
Open the “Date & Time” app on your device.
Set “Network Time” to Off.
Set the date to July 1, 2013.
Open the App Catalog
Type “App Catalog Update” in the search filed, and select “Enter” on the keyboard.
Tap the “App Catalog Update” app to display the details page.
Tap “Download for Free” to download and install the app.
Return to the “Date & Time” app.
Set the date back to the current date.
Set “Network Time” to On.
Before doing this open Software Manager and clear out any pending updates, reboot system.
Afterwards, try a reboot.
Got Internalz Pro?
You can inspect your certificate by navigating to and opening: /etc/ssl/certs/trustedcerts/PalmWebOS.pem
Or use WOSQI to pull a copy from that location to your computer for examination.
I tried following the instructions, and it still gets the error "The action could not be completed. Try again later."

Many have gotten a "False Negative" when updating... Did you manually verify the cert? Check your App Cat version as an alternative: it should have moved from 5.0.3400 to 5.0.3500 after the update.
MikeN68 has supplied this ipk: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pia7xi5wbddwytt/com.palm.app.appcatalogupdate_3.0.0.ipk
I can't find verification that it works, but you could try installing it on your TP with WOSQI or Internalz Pro.
Garfonso recommends this:
If you are stuck at this point (and you will be) do the following:
Open up Software Manager
Scroll to App Cataloge
Tap on it
It will complain that something can't install
Tell it to not try re-downloading, cancel update whatever
If you have the HP App Cataloge Update App installed, uninstall that, too.
Now you have the old app cataloge software. That is good. That is what you want. Now do what you were told before:
Open up App Cataloge
Search for HP App Cataloge Update
Yes, it is a new app
It has a different logo
Install that app through the App Cataloge
Yes, it will work, if you set the date back to 2013-07-20
Now you're done. Set the date back to the actual date and everything is fine.
So in short:
Do not "update" App Catalog. You need to install a separate app for that now!!!

Again, I don't have confirmation from another source of it working...
Of the two, I'd try the ipk first. It's just easier and more straight forward.

Tronsmart TS7 (aka Glacier TS7) installs random apps without permission

I have a (4GB) Tronsmart TS7 (some times known as a Alps Glacier TS7). It's a Chinese MTK6589 based phone running Android 4.2 purchased from geekbuying.
For the most part the device is stock, there are next to no pre-installed apps apart from the usual, and the only additional apps I have installed are: Playstation, Steam, ColorNote, Shuttle+, Root Explorer DI Radio, Chrome & Gmail
The problem I have is that there are apps appearing on the device that I am not installing. So far it has been the same set of apps that appear:
Mobo Market
UC Browser
TrustGo Security
DU Battery Saver
337 Game Master
GameCenter
(there may be more)
These apps don't start appearing right after a factory reset, but start to arrive 1-2weeks later. They also seem to be packaged similarly; when I say packaged I mean opening them seems to prompt with the same menu & style (accept licence etc) before it gets to the main app. Also, after you open the app from the app drawer it then creates an icon on the desktop. Maybe opening it actually does the installing?
The apps themselves seem to be legit.
I have factory reset the device (twice), and changed my Google password but they are still appearing. They don't show up in my Play store history so they must be coming from elsewhere.
My main concern is that if it is downloading things without my permission, what might it be uploading ? Not to mention wasting my 3g data etc.
So I have a few questions:
Should I be (really) worried?
Is there a way to monitor this? eg connect to a wifi hotspot and packet capture the network traffic? or maybe use a process monitor (the ones I've tried so far haven't shown anything) to see if there is some sort of script in the background?
Can it be stopped?
Thanks in advance, I would be interested to know if anyone else has/had this problem?
I have the same problem.
I haven't tried flashing some other ROM yet, but I guess that is the only way to get it to stop installing those things.
Have you actually found any other roms to install?
For anybody's information:
You may have noticed how you always end up with a 'Tronsmart.mp4' video file appearing in your gallery app. This is damn annoying since it appears twice, once on the internal and once on the external SD card. There is an '\system\app\CopyTest.apk' file which creates both of these. Should be safe to delete it and thus prevent the file(s) appearing
I have actually decompiled this apk. It works as a service that runs when MEDIA_UNMOUNTED or MEDIA_MOUNTED is invoked, and does absolutely nothing else.
I have the same problem, those random apps installing and the video always in my gallery. I have managed to stop tge apps by using a firewall and allowing only my apps that i want to use the internet. I havent found a solution though to fix the problem. Probably tronsmart is spamming its customers...

What Firewall did you use? I might be able to use something like that to pinpoint the app that's causing this.
Sory for the late reply. I am usin "android firewall" free from google play store.
USB debugging disabled stopped it on mine
edit: not that easy, wasn't enough. made some cleanup by disabing/removing some system apps. seems to work so far although there are still some strange events like superuser crashing and right after that system downloader.apk reappearing. haven't seen any other junk coming back
these are the apk's i removed:
systemupdateassistant
systemdownloader
omacp
mtkbt
midtest
galaxy4
fusedlocation
engineermode
engineermodesim
cds_info
basicdreams.

[Q] how can i view a list of all developers apps on my windows phone 7?

i am aware you can deploy up to 10 developers apps on each windows device. i have successfully deployed 2 apps but when i got to deploy the 3rd it tells me i have reached the maximum number of developers apps. if i remove one of the apps i currently have installed i can deploy another one. but i need to be able to deploy more than one app at once. is there anyway for me to check the current apps deployed. also if i cannot do this is there anyway for me to delete all developer apps currently installed without deleting every app i have installed.

As far as I know you could long-tap on an app and see if it gives you the option to give it a rating. If yes, then it's an app you installed. If not it's either a sideloaded appor a system app (such as music+video and maps). I hope this helps

[Q] Perhaps A New Android Virus Discovered? Anyone Else Seen "Plåÿ Störé One Two"?

[Q] Perhaps A New Android Virus Discovered? Anyone Else Seen "Plåÿ Störé One Two"?
No idea how it could have installed itself on my phone (the last app I installed was WO Mic, from the Google Play Store. I have this on another phone but it didn't get this virus from it). Just woke up today, and found it on here. It seems to have replaced the actual legit Google Play Store. I looked in the /system/app directory, the app is called Phonesky.apk. I looked this up online, one other person has/had my problem. He said even the Verify and Install option is infected, showing "Verify and Install one two three", but I can't confirm if that is on my phone because my phone never had Verify and Install to begin with, and even when I select to install an APK it does not appear.
Besides factory reset, is there anything I can do? I will try to put some sort of antivirus on the phone, but the other guy I saw who had this problem said his Norton Mobile Security didn't pick anything up.
I will soon be uploading both the Phonesky.apk as well as the Phonesky.odex file, just in case any of you devs want to tear down the package and look at it or analyze it or whatever. In the meantime, here's some pictures I took of it. Please refer to attachments to see them.

I probably don't have to say this, but just as a warning, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING, I'D SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT INSTALL ANY OF THESE FILES ON YOUR PHONE SINCE IT PROBABLY WILL INFECT YOUR PHONE IF YOU DO IT.
Also, I've noticed that this virus imitates Google Talk as well. No, not Hangouts, the old Google Talk. I did not have Talk installed on that phone before this virus came around. I don't see a Talk-like app in the app drawer, however I do get notifications of messages in the notification bar. The messages it notifies me for are actually legitimate messages I've received. I'm having a Hangouts conversation on my primary phone, and every time I get an incoming message from my friend, it shows up on the infected phone as well. When I try to actually press the Talk notification to see if it opens a fake Talk app or anything, it doesn't actually open anything.
EDIT 2: I uploaded a picture of fake Gtalk. Also, Zoner Antivirus did not detect anything wrong, even though I saw that it scanned over something called "Google Play Store one two three".
It's been a while, but I just wanted to say that factory reset did get rid of it for me. Others have said that the system language switched to Deutsch, and they switched it back to English and everything was fine. However for me, my phone remained in English the whole time. It also seems weird that this only happened on phones running Gingerbread...

Help! Galaxy tab s4 with virus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys, I believe my galaxy tab s4 is contaminated with a virus . I already did many factorys resets and didnt installed no apps but from time to time , even when Im at the home screen with Avast only or with the antivirus that comes with the tablet activated, google play store opens without my request showing a program called IQ Option broker. What should I do?

Could be a fake Play store app reinstalling itself somehow eg from SD card. Is your antivirus scanning your external storage also? Check if you have more than one play store app shown in settings>apps (not your normal apps screen as they can be hidden there). Or it could be an overlay made to look like Playstore screen ... you did get official Avast app right?
else something has installed itself in system folder which is why factory reset not working and you will need to reinstall your FULL Samsung factory ROM suggest you use Samsung SmartSwitch like RootJunky here (use high quality cable eg samsung usb cable, else danger of bricking)

Download Odin 3.xx (current version)
Browse SamMobile for firmware for your device, download factory ROM. Pay close attention to the region code for your ROM, CSC code. Use one compatible with your device and regional settings. It can be found on the IMEI sticker on the back of the device
Follow the flashing instructions to the letter that you will find on SamMobile website.
Once completed the device is fully refreshed and has latest available software at the time of the build. Do device setup and download app updates.
Enjoy.
Many thanks for both replies , but I have a few more questions:
a) Does this virus have the power to attack my router? If so, what should I inspect at my router? Should I use my brother´s ios iphone as a router while cleaning my device?
b) If I attach the tablet at my PC to perform the firmwire installation, could the virus be transmitted to it? What should I do to avoid it?
c) Where can I safely download this ODIN?
And answering some questions you made:
a) The avast app was downloaded from the store
b) Ive already tried disconnecting the sd card, perform a factory reset without the card but the problem persists.
c) I logged at my google account and when looking at my registered activity, Google claims I did opened the Google Play Store and searched for the IQ Option Broker app. So the virus acts as if it was me.

b) Possibly access is possible via your modem (or Bluetooth as serious bug was just patched this month if an attacker knows your BT MAC ... though likely take a while to rollout to all Samsung so you moray not be patched). If you suspect modem then you need to therefore also update your modem firmware (assuming its been patched & is not old & still vulnerable to some old bug, or buy new one) AND change both user & admin passwords
There is an XDA article with link to safe Odin download, google to find. But I'd recommend using Samsung SmartSwitch as this is official way & no special knowledge required.
Re item c) then possible it's just someone trying to load an app remotely via your Google account, does it show any unrecognised login from another device? Also I'm not 100% sure if this requires user to tap install on newer phones, so might not be what you are seeing. Change Google password. (your phone not infected in this case as you didn't click install) Always use a different password)(used same password then check your email address on have I been pwnd)

b) I have 2 modens here, one from the internet provider , which is at bridge mode and one that spreads the signal. THe last one is modern and updated and the bridged one , there is no way I can acesss the firmwire besides its info. However , when I had to put it at bridge mode, I had to use an ethernet cable with a computer which maybe wasnt the most protected one. Could that process corrupts a firmwire modem?
c) But I have 2 stage factor. Shouldnt my phone receive an SMS alerting someone is logging at my account? And no, I havent seen any unrecognized login when I accessed my google account.
But your reply gave me an idea...: Maybe an access to my google account was made from a "public" computer and since the access wasnt terminated, as I use this computer a lot, a bot may be trying to remotely install this app.

I think I found the culprit , when I reviewd the few apps Ive installed on my tablet and googled them . There is Netflix, Omega Wars game, PUBG and COD Mobile, handycalc, Go Read, Hube and... QuickPic gallery!!!!!!!!! I used this app on my ancient galaxy S2 and at my other 2 previous tablets. When I looked for the program at Google Play one hour ago ,QuickPic wasnt available anymore!!!! I googled about it and saw many people complaining about this program when a chinese company bought it a few years ago . Maybe QuickPiC installed some crapware at my device!!!!

I can't find this one but doesn't mean anything, maybe not available in my country or not compatible with my phone.
PS: Don't rule out a compromised router even top of her range can be affected eg

Dont have much free time , but despite the fact I think the router is still safe, Ill reset it on a weekend and change again its id and password as this is a process that takes too much time ( mostly due to my ignorance at the beginning of the process ).
Im thinking about taking my tablet for a Samsung assistance, but Im worried theyll change one virus for another if the employees are corrupt. Do you think I should take the risk or Im beeing too paranoic?
