[Q]s Moving from Wm 6.5 to Android, can i still do all this? - General Questions and Answers

Sort of getting forced into an upgrade, as need to get it sorted before 1st feb ( as with T-mobile UK that means 500mb vs 3GB )
Currently got a touch pro2 , had windows phones for over 5 years now. But not really liking win 7 phones, seem very restrictive, and theres not that many good deals about.
But on with my Questions.
1. Does Hotmail sync, so i get instant notifications as new emails arrive?
2. Can i back up all my calander entries and transfer them across?
3. I use opera mobile 10, can i copy my favorites across?
4. Is it possible to copy over my texts and contacts as these are all backup and saved via microsoft myphone
Apps & software
5. sat nav, a biggy, i have used TomTom since my ipaq ppc days, and nothing else, is there something compareable on android? not a data based one , needs to have maps on the SD card, for the UK & cover the rest of europe.
6. an equiverlent free app to midomi ( ie record a 10 second clip of a tune, and display the details of the tune ) that works well.
7. A radio station streamer app, that allows you to enter your own urls, as in .pls links.

I was in the same dilemma as you a few months back. i was a hardcore WM fan, but decided to make the switch to Android. i never looked back. Once you experience android it is like a completely experience. i got a galaxy tab, and kept my tg01 just incase i didn't like android, but now i would definetely let android be my next primary phone. if you want to experience android yourself, try out a ROM for your tp2.
like you, i dislike wp7, it is so restricted. Android is open source there is so much you can do for it.
My next phone will be a android, no doubt, possibly those dual core ones . i suggest waiting till after march when the dual cores are released.
Hope this helps mate

1. Yes you can configure Hotmail with Exchange to have push mail. I've only tried it for a short time and received several times the same message so can't tell you if that was a one-time bug or if it is usual. Anyway you can still configure a reception in POP every 5 minutes.
But you'll have the best of Android experience if you use a Gmail account instead. The push works really nice.
2. You can use Google Sync to transfer all your calendar from WM to Android.
3. Sprite Migrate allows the transfer of bookmarks but I don't remember which browser favorites it transfers.
4. For contacts you can use either Google Sync or Sprite Migrate. For your texts do you mean .doc? Maybe you could transfer them to your PC then to Google Documents and you'll have access to them via GDocs on your phone?
The real bad point in Android is that there is no real Office application like in WM. Documents to Go and Quick Office are either paid applications or not as good as in WM IMO.
5. There are several applications: Google Maps Navigation, Navigon for example. On HTC Desire Z and HD they have included offline maps on the SD card. I don't know for other brands devices.
6. Soundhound is the equivalent. It's free and you can now search for an unimited amount of songs
7. I don't use the radio feature so can't give you much information but I'd be surprised that it doesn't exist. Other people will probably give your more information about that

tried, but wasnt great on the tp2, so didnt go intall installing apps and stuff.
Would like to wait, but with t-mobile changing there term from the 1st feb, that would only leave me with 3 as a network with a decent data package

No, you CAN get Microsoft office apps on the tab. its just they are not 'official' microsoft branded but they still work. its just that in WM, you get the official mobile version.

No what I meant is that I've tried both Documents To Go and Quick Office and they are less complete than the Office application in WM.
For example in Excel, it doesn't even display graphs. You only have spreadsheets. It's a real lack for me.

Anyother ways of copying my calander entries from win 6.5 to android, other than google sync as i cant get that to do it at all?
Dont think my active sync was ever setup or used, as it wont let me select anything, as no outlook is used??

I'm in that stage right now where my contract expires 2/20 and I'll probably wait a bit for the Atrix. However, I've been searching for these things in Android:
1. Pocket Dictionary / Japanese Language Input - I'm taking Japanese classes, so I use the Japanese SIP where you can use the stylus to draw the furigana characters, etc.
2. Cash Organizer - Apparently they're not releasing an Android version. Any financial software as good as CO?
3. Pocket Player - Anything even close to this? Random visualizations, skinning, library manager?
4. Outlook Tasks APP & SYNC - I use tasks to document everything, whether in the phone, or in the PC, and then just sync everything together with Outlook. Is there a standard task app that could sync with Outlook in the PC? With the categories?
5. G-Alarm - is there an equivalent? random mazes and math problems for snooze?
And let's not forget Spacetime, the HP48GX Emulator, and Pocket Stars!? Maybe it would just be better to start working on WINE for Android

Hey. i've been looking for an android phone that fits my budget right now, wich btw, it's not very high hahaha. i've been offered this HTC touch pro 2 in a really chep price, new and in it's CDMA version. I know i'ts a bit old but it fits my needs. BUT as i said before, i'm looking for an android phone. surfing around the web i've seen a few videos and sites talking about these "ports" that enabale you to have even Android 2.3 on this cellphone.
so, my question is, and i would really apreciate to be answered with simplle words (yes, i'm kind of noob with these smartphones, in fact this would be my first one), Is this possible? after getting my HTC TP2 will i be able to enjoy at least of android 2.2?
thanks in advance
greetings from venezuela ^^
I apologize for any misspelling

HTC HD2! I have a lot of Android SD Builds (Desire HD, Gingerbread,...).All of them work fine on the HD2.

Not without ActiveSync AFAIK... there might be, but I don't know it, and ActiveSync is free and very easy to set up! Set up Activesync, sync your WinMo phone to Outlook, and then either sync your new Android phone to Outlook OR use Google Calendar Sync to sync Outlook to GMail and then sync the Android phone to GMail's calendar. (Don't do both or you'll get duplicate entries!)
Personally I prefer Outlook's calendar (more feature-complete and can handle recurring events better), but I can't deny that it's much easier having your calendar in the cloud, letting the phone sync with it from anywhere, and being able to log in from any PC to check it even if your phone has run out of battery!

Android doesn't have a Tasks (or Notes) function, which is a bit strange seeing as GMail has a Notes applet built in (!), but there's a few apps that add that functionality (some free, some paid-for) and support syncing with Outlook. Have a look on http://www.syncdroid.net/

FlexMail 2007 (from WebIS/PocketInformant) sucks!

Here's a company, that releases a product last year full of bugs. They get a ton of feedback on their internal support forum as to the problems. Initially, they try to work with the users, and are fairly responsive and acknowledge many of the problems.
Over the next 6 months, they relase version after version in an effort to squelch some of the turmoil on their forum, which meanwhile grows louder and louder.
Then, late this month, they release what they refer to as Rev 2 which is supposed to be a stable product. Only problem is that it is not a stable product - after just one day of casual use, it deleted 2 of my 3 email accounts!
Meanwhile, to sell more product and hush their users, they shut down their support forum, and now moderate the posts. What a scam!
So I post this here in an effort to warn as many as I can about making the same mistake I had made when I sent them my hard earned money expecting a working product...
I didn't like the product from day 1!! I used the latest version and still sucks. The built in PIM is good enough for me.

I've used both their products "Pocket Informant" & "Flexmail" from latest releases to the Betas. From my personal experience and preference, I've always installed Flexmail, tried it out to see if the bugs were fixed, then uninstalled it again at the end. Pocket Informant really never gave me any problems and its definately a great program if you have to manage your tasks daily or have many appointments and schedules to keep up with. If you dont then the normal default PIM will do for basice scheduling.

That's one of my reasons for posting my experience.
I read a couple of positive reviews of FlexMail, and based on those purchased the product without doing a thorough evaluation myself, only to find the software very unstable, and a plethora of unhappy customers...
flexmail is just a piece of junk. Installed and uninstalled for more than 10 times. Nowdays I finally give it up completely.
Discarding the source code and writing from the scratch is the only way to make this program USABLE.
Anyone knows how is Profimail in comparison to Flexmail?

I would like to be able to read HTML mails on my WM2003SE
So, i decided to give flexmail a 4th try and still... do not like it!
i moved 3 emails to a different folder, opened that folder and it crashed!
Also i tried to send an email with multiple pictures attached, sent it. and guess what. none of the pictures were actually attached!
I need an email app that allows you to easily attach multiple pictures. With the built in one its a pain in the ass!

I thought QMail was extinct/not supported anymore?
I agree...it's junk
The author of this post is completely right. FlexMail is junk. Yes, the UI is beautiful, features are abound, and configuration is extremely flexible. Everything about it seems great...until you use it.
It crashes regularly, or hangs for more than a minute. Worse yet, it DELETES your accounts every time you restart your device. How this product ever made it to the public with such an enormous fault is almost unfathomable. Who wants to setup their accounts every time they use the program?
It seems to work for some people, but trust me - it's not worth the risk and frustration if you're one of the many people that it doesn't work for. Keep away.
Hmm....I haven't had such problems with the smartphone version on my 3125.
I've been using it for a long time and it seems to work great! Sure it takes a bit to load up, but it's not all that bad.
I took the liberty of installing the latest Flexmail (again lol) on my HTC P4350 (wm5) several days ago. So far so good. I also have the profimail installed as well. Although the flexmail's UI is very nice, Profimail loads quick (for me). For some reason, Profimail struggles to download my gmail, whereas Flexmail downloads my gmail with no problems.
I use Flexmail on my WM5 HTC P4000 and it works very well with my IMAP mail. I get actual push emails to my phone.
I m also using Flexmail 2007 3.1 build 1834 for about 3 days now and I thought it very good.
It certainly still has some bugs like my account settings that misteriously get modified: SOCKS proxy enabled, outgoing server deleted... but so far it really much much better than pocket outlook. at least I can:
- Have push with gmail (using IMAP IDLE)
- Have HTML mails with picture without the need to click twice on "load pictures"/display pictures
- be able to get a large chuck of each email (ie like 50ko or even the whole mail if I want)
- a lot of conf settings
the only way to get push email with PO is with a hotmail account and windows live. I ve tried this solution first (with auto forward from gmail to hotmail) but:
- impossible to load more than 30000 characters (actually the amount of text i get in each email is much lower.. and really too low.. never was able to get more). so I always ends up requesting the emails (one by one) to be downloaded completely and this is really annoying I can't just sync once and then read whatever email i get
- really annoying to have to click twice on that bar to get the pictures and more over it means you need to mark the mail to be downloaded, so you don't have the pictures from first sync
the pros for PO is that it is integrated to the OS and as such HTC home will display the number of unread mails. -> you can't do this with flexmail for now.
voila voila
Ka
This is the complaint (with details of the problems I encountered) I just sent to Flexmail
Version recently tested: Flexmail 2007 Build 1864
Device: Fujitsu-Siemens N560 (original WM5)
I have tried numerous builds of Flexmail 2007 and have yet to find one that works reliably. A trend that I notice which in the two most recent build is that upon installation to device (not to SD card), Flexmail will create files under the SD-MMCCard folder (with more subfolders and files) regardless of whether I have my SD card in my device (in which case there should be no SD-MMCCard folder to begin with). This causes the issue that upon inserting my SD card, my SD card will be recognised as SD-MMCCard2 and causes problems with ALL the links referring to programs and files normally associated with the SD-MMCCard folder.
In a separate attempt to fix this problem, I tried to install Flexmail to my SD Card so that the files and folder installed to SD-MMCCard will not conflict with my SD card. This helps for a very short period, but would eventually cause the same problem and sometimes corrupting my SD card data.
I hard reset my device and tried to install Flexmail on multiple occasions with different builds, but the problem still persits.
The directry path it creates regardless of whether my SD Card is in or not is:
SD-MMCCard\Program Files\WebIS\Mail\Data
The files created are:
Settings.ini
Settings.ini.bak
WebISMail.log
{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}.vol
On the brief initial occasion when Flexmail worked, it is an excellent program. However, this critical problem affecting the functioning of my entire device has prevented me from purchasing your program. Hopefully WebIS will sort this out soon.

If they iron out all these bugs, then it's a respectable email program. Otherwise i'm left to check my mail via web browsers
Here is the response WebIS gave me
Greetings and thank you for contacting us.
Well that is unfortunately a design defect in Windows Mobile, that it renames the card when you reinsert it. There is really nothing we can do about that.
We appreciate having the opportunity to help and service you. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do.

They simply tried to brush off the problem as a Windows Mobile defect. it makes me really question their work ethics as a company. Makes me hope someone will come out with a fantastic alternative and put WebIS out of business.

HTC Touch HD - Best Gmail experience?

Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. I have checked the rules first, but apologise in advance if I commit any "faux pas" with this thread...
Anyhow, I have just bought myself an HTC Touch HD, and having implemented a few tweaks already, I am quite satisfied so far. I should probably add that this is my first Pocket PC, having gone from only "normal" phones, my former being a Sony Ericsson K610i.
However, one thing that I have not yet managed to sort out, is how to get the best Gmail experience on my new device. On my old phone, I used Gmail's own mobile Java app. I was thinking about installing that on my HTC Touch HD as well, but then I came across a lot of forum and blog posts that claim the app to be virtually useless on a Windows Mobile device.
Of course, there is the obvious option of setting up an IMAP account on my phone, but two things make me hesitant on this:
1: I don't really like how Gmail behaves when you enable IMAP connections, i.e. sent e-mails are stored in a separate "IMAP Sent" folder, and such things. (I know this is nitpicking, but still... )
2: I think I read somewhere online that the e-mail client in TouchFlo 3d requires a wifi data connection to work. If that is the case, then it's really useless for me, since the whole idea is to make it possible for me to check/write e-mails when I'm on a train or bus. Can anyone confirm if this limitation really exists?
Finally, does anyone know if there is any work being done by Google and/or Microsoft to create a proper Gmail application for Windows Mobile?
Have you tried the mobile browser version of Gmail?

If you mean the application that's described HERE, then yes. That's the app that I used on my old phone, that I have read will not work very well on a Windows Mobile device.
just goto gmail.com in opera. works fine for me
gmail's own app works quite well on my touch pro and also for the HD when i had one...just gotta see if you can live with the true vga version, which makes things small, or find one of the versions on here that support vga
I use mobipush.com to push my gmail account. You don't need wifi for email. Gmail (google) is supposed to be making it easier to access (but who knows)

Various Problems with Fuze

Ok forgive me for actually posting a new thread. I am about to give up on the fuze and thought I would try to ask a few questions first.
Background: I was an early adopter of winmo phones (had a Wallaby, Alpine, Hermes, gave up on a kaiser and went finally to a Nokia n95 until my current trials with the iphone and the fuze) Frankly, before I was the mom of three kids I could manage to keep up with the technology, but now it all might be more than I can handle. You tell me if these are stupid questions I should know the answer to already.
I tried the iphone for 30 days, loved the out of the box ease of use but couldn't believe there was no voice dialing, cut and paste, video, etc. Now I am trying the fuze.
I managed to load up energy rom 3.0 the first day I got it, so that is what I am running. It is beautiful.
Problems:
-lower screen flicker (looked it up, changing to less than optimal brightness does not stop this from happening intermittently)
-youtube wont run (says there is not enough storage space to run - req 8mb - but I have more than 12 free)
-Even though I have it set not to delete my email off the server, it does. Then each time it connects it deletes ALL my mail off the phone. This appears to be a new problem, but a big one.
-browsing is clunky with IE and opera. Can I run safari on this thing because it worked great on the iphone - much more smooth and quick on the att network (sorry, true).
-finally found a storage card that the phone could actually see. Now I am wondering if there is an easy way to move all sorts of files over to the card. Are all files safe to move to the card? Can I move programs? Can I move my more than 300 contacts over there?
-google maps finds me in budapest more often than Austin TX (where I really am) what gives with that?
- I do miss that nice big screen on the iphone. So when is the fuze 2 really going to get here? Anyone think it is worth waiting for? This fuze is costing me a 2 year contract and I could wait...
Thank you in advance! I have spent hours in this forum trying to find answers to my questions. Now I am just asking and I hope I won't be flamed out of existence.

Which e-mail do you use? I haven't had any problems like this using gmail. It's possible you need to look in your e-mail settings online to see if they are set to keep e-mails on the server as well. If you're using POP mail that's a possibility. I use IMAP on gmail which functions very well, even marking e-mails you read on the phone as read online.

-finally found a storage card that the phone could actually see. Now I am wondering if there is an easy way to move all sorts of files over to the card. Are all files safe to move to the card? Can I move programs? Can I move my more than 300 contacts over there?

You can install programs to the storage card, but I don't recommend moving them manually. The registry still thinks the programs are on the phone storage. Other files such as music or pictures should be fine though. You can set your camera to take pictures to the card as well. I don't think you can store your contacts on the memory card, why would you need to? Contacts are nothing more than text, surely they aren't taking up much memory at all.

That's an interesting problem. It sounds like the GPS doesn't have a full lock, are you outside when doing this? Try running a program like QuickGPS to help the phone get a lock.

The Touch Pro 2 is supposed to be out later this year on AT&T. Apparently it's out right now but that's the HTC branded version and it's almost $1000. It's a 3.6" screen at 480x800 resolution, that sounds pretty good compared to the iPhone to me. Running WM means it'll still be a resistive touch screen which means it will never be as fluid to use as the iPhone's is. Still, with an interface like TF3D or SPB Mobile Shell 3 you can enjoy swiping your finger just as much.
Hope I was helpful on some points
I suggest trying different ROMs. Not that there is anything wrong with the one you are using but each one suits different users differently. I am a fairly new user to winmo (about 6 months) and one thing that surprized me the most is how much research and time it takes to get the device working to my satisfaction. I love the fuze, I like to tinker and tweak things.

Install the attached cab to fix this (named after jmckeejr, the person who found the fix. I'm just the "cab man", lol)

Don't know about this one. Perhaps try installing the attached cab I made for myself, and it may help? (this enables aGPS, if it isn't already, so if you don't have a data plan, you'll need to go into Settings & disable it)

We don't flame people who provide details about their problems/concerns, who search first, and who aren't militant about getting a response.
I hope something I provided helps.
In regards to the GPS problem with your location, tap the clock on the homescreen and make sure it has your timezone selected as your "Home City". Google Maps uses this as a default location just to speed up GPS fix time.
If the setting is correct, go to Start -> Settings -> Clocks and Alarms and make sure your city is selected there too, since this is a somewhat known bug in the newer version of TouchFlo3d v2 (sometimes called TF3D2, extracted from the HTC Topaz and Rhodium).
For your browsing experience, check out the new version of Opera Mobile 9.7 -- turn on Turbo Mode and it's SO FAST! I'm loving it, even my friends with iPhones are jealous
I hope this helps you somehow

Android / G1 options for calendar/task/contact/mail sync

Guys,
My other half needs a Treo replacement. She's a hardcore user of MS Outlook for email/calendar/contacts and tasks.
Eventually she might go for a Palm Pre, but in the interim as her Treo's died, I was thinking of trying her with a cheap ebay G1: if she likes Android then could upgrade to something else in time.
What I don't yet get is what the current situation with usable sync is.
Gmail/Gcal/Gcontacts are all fine (I use these with my iPhone and they're perfectly functional) but tasks seems to be the issue. What's Android like with sync to Google Tasks - i.e. I presume it'll sync phone to Gtasks on the web, but will it also pop up alerts when tasks are due, etc - i.e. run in background? If I could get all this to work in the Google Cloud that'd be great, as I could use Google Sync to get her laptop to sync up to the cloud to keep phone/web/laptop all in sync.
If I had to go to an Exchange Server account for her, then does this sync tasks as well as mail/cal/contacts, and run in background - i.e. pop up alerts when a task due and the task app isn't open?
Lastly, I'd like it to look pretty and I'm a big fan of firmware flashing (spent years on here in the past with WM devices!) so I'd be looking to a Superhero or Cyanogen ROM I guess. Heard talk that these may or may not include FULL MS exchange functionality.
Can anyone help me out here?
thanks
Ric
theoretically i would figure a senior mem would know to post in the correct section but since im nice ill ignore that.Anywho..theres a exchange app in hero that i use might be able to ouch the file to other roms though.the mail app does all of those i think.

Sorry, I was thinking G1 and so looking at options that work with it, whether native or through a ROM upgrade.
Doesn't look like tasks and task reminders is an Android strong point natively. Hero exchange app sounds interesting, will google it. If anyone has a decent method of getting tasks and task reminders to work (ideally without MS Exchange, but I'll pay for an account if I need it!)

[Q] Upgrading from HD2 / WinMo6.5

Longtime winmo user with t-mobile since mda vario so have gotten used to tweaking the registry direct and finding/installing ARM cabs off the internet, but as Android seems to be the way to go i feel now is a good time to take the plunge, so just a few noob questions about android to make me feel at ease
#1 Can you save direct from the browser files such as mp3s zips rars etc to be viewed later? having used a friends iPhone i noticed it streamed music and video files rather than a save as option.
#2 Do you have control of the directory structure eg a form of file explorer,so you can rearrange where things are located on your device or card.
#3 given I'm not very likely to mess around with roms and the like, and this phone has htc's sense front end, will I find the migration from the HD2s interface to the sensation easy? i love all the Facebook, YouTube and twitter integration so I'm hoping it will all be there in some form or another.
I realise a lot of this is subjective and rather depends on the individual, but I would appreciate feedback on these less techie issues, as im more likely to base my upgrade on functionality than specification.
cheers!

1) yes
2) yes (Astro File manager works very well)
3) you shouldnt have a problem making the transition.
I'd like to add in a questions since I'm doing the exact same thing (MDA>Tilt>TP2>HD2).
Is there any way to backup my text messages to my PC & read them from there? I currently use Jeyo Mobile Extender to back up my HD2s texts to Outlook & can read them there.
Also, I use Outlook to sync my calendar & contacts, is it an easy transition from this to using Google? I've seen how you can use the HTC Sync program to sync with Outlook but that doesn't look as easy as using Active Sync/WMDC
When I used WinMo/Outlook last (2008), I imported my contacts directly into Google. A search will get you multiple ways I'm sure.
Handcent is widely considered the best replacement SMS client on Android, and it offers some cloud features for SMS.
Alternately, you could port your number to Google Voice or simply use Voice for all of your SMS needs so it's all managed withing the Android app and available on the web.
There are many SMS backup app utilities also.
Ok more questions.
-How easy/hard is it to change the various icons & stuff in Android. I currently use DINIK's custom just about everything on WM6.5 & would like to do something similar in Android.
-Can the camera timestamp pics on the image like in WM?
-If you add a birthday to a Contact & sync does it automatically add it to the Calendar (& put it all the way back to the year) like in WM?
I may have more. Also, sorry OP for hijacking your thread.
I've never seen a reason to change any of the icons in Android. The stock Android icons are just fine, and Sense might change that. Can't answer that one.
I'm not sure why you'd want to put a timestamp on the actual photo. All of that information is in the EXIF data embedded in the .jpg. My Nexus One has no apparent means of adding the timestamp, but there are many, many camera applications available and I'm sure it's a feature elsewhere. Also, the Sensation might not use the Android camera, and that feature could be present in an HTC camera.
I always did like the birthday thing in WM, and I've not fiddled with it enough to see if that's a feature that has been retained. The stock Android calendar widget is crap, as it's only one event per day, so perhaps Sense and/or a Calendar app, of which there are many, can facilitate this.
(As I said, I've used WM6 in the past, but it's been a while. My Herald with WM6.5 was okay, but the last time I used it as a primary phone was November 2008 on the MDA.)
I understand all the info in in the EXIF data, but I do like having the timestamp so I can see the date of the pic right away.
So the stock Calendar app kinda sucks huh? Hmm I'll have to look in to that when I get this phone. I rely on this app a lot for reminders of birthdays, bills, tasks, etc.
As for the icons, I'm just curious. WMs icons sucked (as everyone knows) so of course everyone wanted them changed. I'd just like to know that the option is there for Android in case I want to do it.
Fair enough.
The calendar app is decent, and you can set alarms and notifications with ease. One of the greatest things about the Google integration is that your changes done on the device or web are synchronized, which I'm certain you're aware of.
The Calendar widget is my complaint. You can have 10 events happening on a day and it'll only display one of them. Not two, or an indicator that there are more events to be seen. One.
There are other free and paid calendar widgets that make this much less an issue.
Google app icons are, like most things Google, simple and effective.

ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Sadly WM is the same way but the mod Cookie's Home Tab was able to fix that & let's you decide how many to show. I guess I'll have to find a replacement.
I'm actually shocked people still use winmo on HD2. Android is a breath of fresh air.

I tried it once, couldn't get the MMS settings to stick & just forgot about it. I like WM6.5 but I'm ready for an OS that still has support for new stuff.
Another question: my girlfriend has the MyTouch4G. I've noticed the screen doesn't turn on when receiving a text message. Is this standard on Android? Is there anyway to fix that?
Also, for the MMS settings on hers, there's no way to choose how to download the pic. With WM on my HD2 it gives you the option of original resolution & other, smaller ones. Is there a way to do that in Android as well?
The MT4G has some serious tweaks to it, but the SMS behavior is probably normal. I recommend Hancent again because not only does it wake and notify, but you can send a reply without unlocking the screen, though it does not unlock the device.
MMS saving is pretty much save-what-you-get, which sometimes is not that large. There are also MMS-saving apps.

If she is on stock? The stock screen turns on briefly then turns off. The mms setting is weird it took me awhile to find out how to do it. You don't click the picture you click and hold slightly above it and then there is an option to save.

Fair play. what got my goat, was windows mobile has been out for a looong time. And it didn't really change much. then iphone came along, with a million quality apps, and nothing really changed with winmo. and then Android came along with a million free apps, and after a while in the UK we got the Marketplace in the UK with, erm about 8 apps, and then they charged you like £20!
After playing with these other phones, as soon as a reliable android rom became available, I gave winmo the 2 fingers. I've used them for 10 years, so have a right to be miffed. But yeah, roms not designed for the device were flakey. and like you I prob won't mess with my next phone.
Was just shocked that people stuck to winmo, with there being an alternative, - unlimited amount of android fun.
Anyone not used these android phones will be blown away with the amount of free useful and gimmicky apps.

it sucks. I'll send her a pic from the HD2 & when she gets it it's been shrunk down a lot. When she sends me a picture it's still fairly big because of the setting on WM.

it's not the saving that I'm worried about, it's the fact that pics that I send her that should be a lot bigger are shrunk down in size. If someone sends me a pic, I want it to be as big as possible & not be messed with before it gets to me.

I agree, I like stock ROMs. The 3.14 ROM is nice & I have it set up perfectly with CHT. I'm going to do the same thing tho with my HD2 once I get the Sensation.
There's no good reason to use MMS between you two. Get Dropbox accounts and share a folder. Upload photos there and they're full size and accessible anywhere.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
yeah but there's still a reason to MMS between me & my mother/sister/brother/buddy/friends that don't have Android phones.
Your reasoning is kinda like the reason Apple kept MMS out of the iPhone for so long: they thought it wasn't needed because you can just email it. Sorry but MMS will be around for a bit.
Oh man, good on you for reminding me of how Apple resisted MMS for so long. Heck, most people forget that the iPhone HAD NO APPS for a year after it was released.
@OP
Are you looking about upgrading to the Sensation, or is this about android on the HD2
If it isn't about the sensation, do you mind if I move this to HD2 Android.
