Is there a way to remove the icons from android messaging? I have no need to see my own icon or blank icons that take up all that space.

Minimalist text will do this.

Is there a widget which essentially just links to an app and lets us choose an icon for it, but takes up a full 1x1 on the screen and hides the name?
Or any other way to achieve this in launcher pro?

Desktop visualizer does exactly this. Also in many more widget sizes.

Works very well, but there doesn't seen to be a way to add folders. Any idea is it possible?

SiMiFolder.
I don't really like the way SiMi manages the files inside the folder. I prefer a full popup of all the apps instead of a tiny horizontal bar which has to be scrolled...
Is there a way I can change an apps icon with a theme manger type program on my phone?

some ROM's allow you to hold down an icon to change it with icons pre-installed on your SD Card.
Some icon themes can be installed through apps like ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro.
Its nice using Launcher Pro. It can install Icon Packs on the fly.
Yeah I'm familiar with launcher pro and adw themes and stuff but I want to modify icons on my htc with the sense launcher?

Try Folder Organizer lite on the Android Market.
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.abcOrganizer.lite
In the apps section, it allows you to change the icon for all apps. In order for the icon to show up on the home screen as modified, you need to add the app as a "Folder Organizer item" widget.

Using folder organized worked! Good enough for now. Now just got to figure out how to get that icon on my sense 3.0 lockscreen instead of using the stock application icon it makes me use.

Desktop Visualizer does exactlly what your asking...
You choose what apk you want launched...
Then you choose a img file you want to be displayed for that apk file
Well i now know how to disable the search bar in ICS. When disable the bar, i was expecting to take advantage of the entire 4 ich screen but i cant. The space is blank and i cant put anything there. Is there a fix for this or a mod or something?
Not as of yet. Its just useless space. I'll let you know if I come across anything

You could try out Nova Launcher. Its a launcher that only works on ICS roms (including stock). It attempts to emulate the theme of the stock launcher while also being smoother and with some additional features added.
One of these features is the ability to remove the Google search bar so you can have an extra row available for icons and widgets.

to the list of those available on the lockscreen? Just to be clear, the list of available widgets is limited on the lock screen.

You'll need a third party lockscreen that supports all widgets. With the stock lock screen, that ability needs to be included in the .apk. Perhaps you can send a message to the developer of the app and ask them for lock screen widget support.
Good to know. I was hoping I could use root explorer to drag from one folder to another so the lockscreen could see the widget.
