I asked @supercurio on twitter:
"Gabriel Forgie (sageDieu):
@supercurio Im using the kernel from here: http://goo.gl/WpoxU and was wondering if there's any chance for compatibility with VoodooApp...."
http://twitter.com/sageDieu/status/25971583906480128
and this is his reply:
"François Simond (supercurio):
@sageDieu Voodoo sound on Verizon Fascinate, Mesmerize, and Showcase? Positive ! Give us a few days "
http://twitter.com/supercurio/status/25974164317798401
So I assume this means maybe we will get a new Voodoo kernel or at least support in VoodooApp for sound boosts.

Awesome! I was just reading a thread on the voodoo sound (and that it required a tweak to the kernel) yesterday. Gotta love that all these devs - they're all over it!
Yeah I know, I hardly expected a reply but I got one within the hour with a simple and direct answer. I love when devs do that

So hopefully soon, he has been doing some cool stuff with the v2 one on the i9000 and from what he told me on Twitter and the #project-voodoo IRC the next step once that is stable will be to port it to other devices.

I'm on the mesmerize with the old voodoo lag fix and using Luna ROM
I read some references to completely removing the old voodoo lagfix prior to installing the new 5.0 version, is this something you need to do? Or can I simply disable lagfix, clear cache, and install from zip through recovery?
I read alot of comments about losing vibrate/haptic feedback so I want to make sure to do this right the first time

Sweet Jeezus... this kicks @$$.
I'll be DJ-ing our office holiday party on Friday night and now I feel a lot more comfortable using my Mez to do it. It sounds MUCH better through my earbuds and it'll HAVE to sound better running out to my PA. Simply phenomenal difference.
EDIT: Can I blow the built-in speaker with this?!?
You could definitely blow your eardrums with ear-buds on max lol...
Also wanted to thanks to all who had a part in bringing this to us. I've still got my cheap ass ear-buds in listening to the phone, sitting around excellent more than capable audio devices....
OK so I will be the Noob here.
But the Sound fix that this enables. Is it just a passive fix ? or can it be user tweaked.
What I am asking is it just a fix that generally improves audio without any user input or does it activate some hidden controls (eq ?)..
yea I know.. But remember.. There are no Dumb questions.. Just End Users..

I would.suggest reflashing. There utas no lag on my phone with cognition
It's always been laggy, because it's based on a Captivate ROM. The i9000 ROMs are faster, use on based on that.
I suggest mine, of course, but there's plenty to choose from.
Zero lag here. Mikeymike is always dissing cog. Like other posts said reflash and masterclear.

Some people have no reading comprehension.
And I'm not "hyping up my ROM". I'm not "dissing" anyone (haven't heard that since middle school...).
One time, someone posted a question in Development instead of Q&A citing that none of the developers or knowledgable people leave the Development forum.
Since then I've been in both General and Q&A trying to help people.
If you don't like what I suggested, fine. Rebut it, or simply ignore it.

If the voodoo kernel is installed, should we disable lagfix, or does this rewrite everything? I guess the factory reset takes care of that?
EDIT: Went ahead and took the plunge after disabling lagfix. I realize it probably wasn't necessary, but better safe than sorry.

I'm on the odexed kg4 leak with drhonk's red cwm+ext4+root kernel, and I *love* it. OC'd to 1.3GHz, I Quad 2850 or so. Gingerbread is light-years ahead of froyo. Only issue I've personally encountered is outgoing wifi calling volume is inaudibly quiet, and that's not a dealbreaker as I stopped using Wifi calling when I started using Bali kernels.
If you're thinking about it, I say go for it
I felt the same way and held off. Took the plunge - Installed the samfirmware 2.3.4 leak via odin and Drhonk's GB CWM+Voodoo a couple of nights ago (could not get it into recovery using whitehawkx version). Phone is awesome...no rainbow boot screens, no FC's...just plain awesome. Everything works...came from Black Ice with Bali 3.3UV and all of the tweaks and will not be going back.
It's a personal choice though, the only thing I am currently missing is the voodoo sound I had with Bali 3.3UV. Small price to pay IMO.

Unless I missed something the Kernel doesn't support it. I have the voodoo control app installed and lagfix enabled, but it says that the kernel does not support the sound mods.
The other thing i miss is the black ice "system shutdown" audio. That never got old.

I will try it tonight. Thanks
I got tired of waiting for the upgrade. It's one thing to wait for an upgrade and it's another to get zero dates and information. I decided to use SamFirmware's latest, and to put it simply, I love it so much better than Froyo. In fact, the only thing bothering me is the website scroll on the stock browser. With Froyo, I could swipe upwards a few times and it would quickly take me to the top of the page. For some reason, with Gingerbread, a swipe appears to move me up the screen by some fixed intervals. This extra 3-5 second inconvenience is very tolerable.

I agree with Jay on this topic. GingerBread is amazing, with the major downside being horribly quiet WiFi calling. Unfortunately with as often as my phone is WiFi connected and how much I use it for work, I'm sticking with Froyo for now. Other than that, if you're comfortable with flashing it, there really is no reason to wait.
be sure to thank the devs for their hard work. froyo at this point in time is much more customizable than gb, but its only a matter of time before our devs crack it.
Donate if possible also! The devs put a lot of their time and effort these ROMS.

Thank you bbelos for the port of kernel 3.x
This thread will contain test builds of a Nyan colonel built off of kernel 3.x. This does not currently have voodoo sound or over clock capabilities. This has a bunch of tweaks I have found and would like tested such as didle and other new things. This is based on the 3.x port by bbelos.
What does not work:
Vibration
4G WiMax
Compass
You need to put the following files on your SD card along with the kernel:
Download all files here besides zImage
Now you will need to download the test kernel. If it is named zImage.bin, rename it zImage:
6/3/12 9:49 EST: http://i.minus.com/1338785488/MLUAXU3KBgO9DEjDXcsUKA/iyU7MabwAtc4I
Flash boot_zImage_with_boot.zip in CWM or twrp and it should reboot into the kernel.
It should be mentioned the orientation sensor doesn't work either, although I'm not sure if it's just the auto-rotation feature that doesn't work or it won't even turn orientation when you want to change the orientation of your camera.
One question though: What are the benefits of the new kernel?
