Tasker and Minimalistic text - Android Apps and Games

I have realized you can make all kinds of great and informative widgets using these two great apps. I am sure people will come up with a lot of ideas, but mine is simple.
I just wanted to have a simple text widgets that tells me how many missed calls, texts and emails (and maybe weather) I have, in a very compacted form.
I have learnt how to make counters for missed calls and sms in tasker and loads those variables in minimalistic text. However, I havent been able to get an email count out yet, hope someone can help with that.
But also, I was thinking you can use tasker to grab RSS Feeds, Facebook status messages, your current location and interesting points around you etc.
I'm relatively new to this so lets hear everyones experiences

Okay, this is a simple sample post...
I want to know how to get an email count there too.
I think it can be done somehow through tasker, if an email source broadcasts the email count. Only K9 is opensource, so I have added a request to them.
Any other suggestions are most welcome.

How to set repeat sound for unread SMS?

Is there a way to setup a sound repeating for unread SMS? It seems that this possibility is disabled in the normal setting menu.
Searching for something that will give a reminder say every 10:th minute that there are unread SMS.
Previously had a Samsung where this was possible, badly missing this when switching to the Polaris

Im looking for this too...
Maybe with Mortscript...
Have a look at "Mortscript example accumulation" thread in "Developmente and Hacking" section....
I remember that someone did something similar.....
Thank you for the suggestion. There were some references, but I am unsure how use the information. I had hoped for a simpler approach. After quite some time of reading, still unsure how to get a script running.
Or have a look at PhoneAlarm (www.pocketmax.net).
An excellent tool...
There are various programs that do this ...
SPB phone suite does it too, which is what i use.
Thanks for all suggestions, will check the indicated programs.

[APP] SMS Forwarder

So, Ive developed and released a nice little app called SMS Forwarder (yes its free and yes its out on the market).
SMS Forwarder is a simple but smart application that will let you forward incoming text messages to another number and/or an email address. Maybe you want to read your text messages on your computer through email, maybe you have two phones and what to keep up to date on new SMS or maybe you want to make sure no one is harassing your kids.
More features are being planned but in order to see if my server can handle the traffic Im going easy to begin with!
Please give the app a go, rate it and leave a feedback.
Ive recently updated it with more customization settings and some tweaks here and there.. Im also planning on making it possible to reply to emails in order to reply to the SMS (would make replying to SMS a lot easier imho )
Thanks
Appsite with all the info you need here
Made an appsite for it here
Just a little update!
Been developing this app over several months now and the functionality of both the free and PRO versions are getting pretty good. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on it.
I use it myself while I'm at work where I dont have access to my phone. Works well for me!

How do I email a distribution/contact list in the gmail app?

You'd think this would be a built in feature...I have a group of people I need to email on a regular basis, but the only way I can do it in the gmail app is by "Reply All" to a previous email and delete all the old email/subject...
Why in heaven's name can't I easily email multiple people from the app? I can do it online on my laptop...am I missing something here, or is this just a glaring oversight on Google's part?
Really? Nobody knows this?

Oversight.
Best suggestion, as you've already figured out, is save a draft with the contact info.

That seems like a pretty big oversight...what a bunch of goons. Thanks.
These are the same guys that omitted sending to groups in the text messaging program.

Ha, that's a very good point that I had forgotten...
Nothing chaps my ass more than little **** like that that's forgotten/omitted.
A year later, and those fools still haven't updated the app so users can send emails to distribution lists they've setup. Jerks.
A working solution
This method was described somewhere on these forums, and it works. I am just repeating what someone else discovered.
Make a new contact, using a name which is meaningful to you.
For the email address, build a list of the emails for everyone in the group, using this pattern:
[email protected]>,<[email protected]>,<[email protected]>,<[email protected]
NOTE the >,< between each contact, but nothing before the first email in the list, and nothing after the final email in the list.
This works around the missing group function.
Download and use ContactGroupU from the Google Play store.
on your computer go to gmail and add those contacts in some group and call it something for example "912dd" and go on the app and in the "To:" Area start typing the name "912dd" and select it when it shows up

Group "texting" app?

I know there's plenty of IM apps. And messaging through Android allows sending of texts to groups. But what I'd like to have is an app that has the instant accessibility of texts (via push notifications?) but the convenience of group IM so everybody is in on the whole conversation.
It'd be nice if it could work via phone numbers (like texts), but anything that runs quietly in the background until needed (or pushed to with conversation) would be all I truly need. Any ideas?

Why not just use WhatsApp? I had never used it before the last few weeks, but we now have it running for our Resistance group on Ingress and it is exactly what you're looking for I reckon.

Wow... I had never heard of it before, but I think you're right. Looked down the features list and they pretty much listed everything I need (and want). Thank you very much

Email app that allows scheduled sending

Quite a few years ago I used a default emailing app that came with my phone. (Could've been Samsung Galaxy S3 or S4...can't remember). The thing I really enjoyed was the ability to set a time when you wanted an email to be sent.
I haven't found anything like it since so was hoping XDA folks could recommend an email app that allows me to have multiple accounts on the app and whereby I can choose the date and time those emails get sent.
(Currently using TypeApp on my Android phone but that doesn't have the ability to schedule sending).
Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Try this

Or, do a Google search for:

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried Boomerang before but it doesn't work for personal emails hosted on own domains. Seems that it only works with Gmail and Exchange type set ups.
Also, the fact that it is a separate app from Gmail defeats the purpose of using it with Gmail.
Having one app that I can do all my emails is the preferable route.

I searched for you and found others that also wanted it certain ways but in all cases they never found a solution, all they got was a suggestion to use boomerang.
You can probably try using google assistant or some other assistant type app along with your calender app or even Tasker to get this to work however choose. Other than those options, I don't know what else to say, maybe someone else has other suggestions.

Way back, I tried backing up that Samsung built-in email app and restoring it with Titanium Backup but I don't remember having any luck with going that route.
I use Handcent Next SMS as my go to app for sending texts because it can schedule sending e.g. yearly, monthly etc. Great for when you send someone a birthday text overseas and you're still sleeping. :good:
Now if only these SMS apps can figure out how old the person is from contact information and the message wished them a happy 39th birthday instead of just saying happy birthday.
I'm surprised there aren't a bunch of these scheduled type apps as it's so handy to schedule a message ahead of time e.g. for someone's birthday.

You could always try porting that app to work with what you have now or get someone else to do it.

I don't remember what phone it was on but could try and find out.
How would I go about porting the app to work or is there a forum to ask someone to do it.
If I remember correctly, I was rooted at that time so could hopefully copy the APK but not sure if there were any other linking files to copy with it.
Thanks.

I don't know what you need to port the app, I'm just saying it can be done if you prefer to use that app. Porting that app seems to be the most likely solution to what you're looking for. There doesn't seem to be any other options that will work in the manner you want or with just one app like you want.
