[Q] Bill My T-Mobile Not Working? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got my nexus s and whenever I choose bill my t-mobile on the market it asks me to enter my name and address. It never did that on my nexus one, g2, galaxy tab, and etc. I don't mind entering my info but when I do it always says invalid address, I've tried entering my address multiple ways but it will not work. I'm running CM7 right now can anyone else try and see what it does for them?

Same here! I never got it to work, I am going to wait til I get the new market to try it again.

AIM for Android?

First off, yes I did a search, both on XDA and via Google, and I turned up plenty of mentions, but no actual links.
The official AIM app for Android was released a while back, and it worked great (for me anyway); well, lo and behold my N1 was stolen on Sunday (bastards... WaveSecure's gonna put'em in jail tho), and I just got my replacement today. After rooting and flashing CM 5.0.6 and trying to restore everything to the way it was pre-theft, wouldn't you know it, the app no longer seems to be on the market. Anybody got the APK? Got it installed and can link up a copy from an Astro backup? It'd be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Yes I know there are other apps that provid AIM functionality. Yes I know about the issues many have had with the official app. Yes I'm still pissed that my N1 was stolen. Yes I'm gonna be selling an N1 for a low price once I get the stolen one back (and I'm praying I do). Thx for your concern and your help.
Can't help you with the actual AIM app, btu I can suggest eBuddy as an alternative.
I got the apk but I'm put right now. too bad I don't know how files.
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
^it's no rush, my dude. If you get around to uploading it when you get home or whenever you have time (assuming you meant you're "out" and I'm not misunderstanding), I'd greatly appreciate it.
When I can't find an app in the Market I can usually get the app wit Market Enabler and switching back and forth with T-Mobile and AT&T. It will usually work for at least one reboot if I fake a provider, reboot, fake the same provider again after the boot, open Market. T-Mobile is 310260. At&t is 310410.
BTW and off topic, does anyone know a place to find a list of ALL the different gsm.sim.operator.numeric values for all the world's Android Markets? That would be a big help.
Anyway, here's the official AIM app. Enjoy.
Hmmm, I just typed AIM and it was the first app in the Market to download.
As for selling the stolen phone, doesn't the IMIE or whatever its called get blacked listed/banned?
That's interesting... it's now showing up for me as well. It looked like a newer version than the one I installed though, it prompted me to "update" to 1.5.5.1 I believe it was; Astro shows the version I downloaded yesterday as being v1.5.5.1 however. Wierd.
I kid you not though, it wasn't showing up yesterday. I even went to the AIM mobile site and tried to get it via the QR code on the page, market found nothing. Odd.
Edit: Also, about the other phone... that's a good question. I guess we'll see if/when the other N1 is returned to me. *shrug*

Help with borked wallet

No matter what i do, rom i flash, partition i wipe.... wallet force closes and does not work. i am using the nexus 4g. even if i unroot and roll back to 2.3.4 wipe everything multiple ways, accept ota updates just like i did before, wallet fails.
so ive rooted and unrooted before 2.3.7, took the ota and everything was dandy.
all i did was root a few days later and it was done. i am convinced there is some data on the nfc chip just like data was being saved on the gps when switching certain evo roms. Why would simply rooting the phone break wallet when sooo many people are running it rooted? almost wanna take it to sprint....
You need the ke1 radio for it to work on 2.3.7 without hacking it on there

Yes remember this is a now unrooted sprint nexus returned to stock with all the proper radio's and all...
Bump
suggestions anyone?
tried taking it to sprint but didnt have time to stick around and wait a few hours....
Same thing happened to me, I called google wallet support they blamed it on me unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom rom. Basically you're sol unless you can swap it out at sprint. as far as I know. Google isn't responding to this issue.

Also, make sure you're copying the 2.3.7 versions of:
com.android.nfc_extras.jar > system/framework
com.google.android.nfc_extras.xml > system/etc/permissions.
If you know how to sign APKs, make sure Wallet and Nfc have the same signature. If you don't know how, copy over Nfc as well to system/app and wipe cache either way.
Hope that works. Good luck.
Returned the phone to sprint overnight. Wow. The sales people and techs there are completely clueless. Oh well. After me schooling them on everything, they decided to give me a new phone. It will be shipped in a few days.

You mean refurbished phone?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Probably refurbished. From what I understand these phone go through more tests than new phones and still look new. I'm fine with that. If the phone continues to fail (which I doubt) then I can get a new phone.
So I got a new phone from sprint. Interesting I had to set up a new Google prepaid card. Got another 10 bucks...

yea, the prepaid card is tied to the phone's meid. New phone = new meid.
Actually, the whole gw app is tired to the meid. I'm talking to the money market level 2 guys trying to figure out how I funked mine up so badly without swapping phones

The key is to flash the wallet fix rite on top of the rom you flash. In the same recovery session. Works everytime.

Anyone use Ready2Go?

Hi folks. First post.
Just upgraded to a Skyrocket from an Aria. I got a confirmation that it shipped and a link to set up my device via Ready2Go. Has anyone tried this? How does it work? Does it set it up exactly as if you were doing it manually? It seems like a cool feature, but it almost seems too good to be true, especially coming from AT&T. I just don't want anything setup incorrectly or differently (like having to use all the apps through some AT&T portal or something).
I've used it a few times. Works very well.
So I just got this lovely device from the ATT refurb store for ten bucks. And the problem I'm having is that ready2go will not sync to the device. I tried four times with reboots of phone and computer in between tries. What a stupid ass idea this is. Leave it to ATT to find a way to screw up a perfectly good system. Any way since it won't sync I can't use the phone at all. I've gotten Odin to recognize the device and know I can flash CWM then another ROM and that's what I'll end up doing but first just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this issue before or has any ideas.

Why can't you use the phone at all because of ready to go? I always skip that ready to go crap and set up my phone myself. So be more specific when you say can't use. Is it locked up? Need more info...

Well there is no option to skip it. Just back or continue. So if you go to continue it gives web address to go to and the code to enter to sync up. I enter the code and it just sits at the spinning beachball of death forever. How where you able to bypass this setup? I think it may be new from ATT as far as putting in on the phone right after the splash screen.
I would just flash cwm in Odin and flash a custom rom. Skip the stock BS

Hit the home button and all that ready to go crap goes away and allows you to procede setting up the phone.
And xcrazydx is right you might just want to flash a custom rom if you can't figure out how to get past ready to go. Especially since you have a refurbished device and warranty is of little or no issue...

Negative. I'm not a noob and I'm very familiar with Samsung devices. lol It will go nowhere with out the sync that's not working. More annoying than anything else. And just seeing if anyone else had this happen.

Hey I came from an Aria as well. Big change.
I don't use ready2go. Waste of effort. Might as well just customize on the phone itself. Why else is it a "smartphone" then?
I know for sure I skipped it just don't remember what button I pushed to do it. As much as I flash this phone and my wife's phone I don't take time to use that ready to go crap if I flash an update in Odin I usually turn right around and flash cwm then root then restore my apps data etc with titanium backup. Never has made me use ready to go....

Lost Phone

OK so my husband lost his phone and doesn't have findmydroid installed - any way to ping it's location to see perhaps if it is even a pipe dream to recover it?
Report the serial # to Verizon.... They should be able to at least find it if someone else tries to use it.
Hindsight is a B, but next time download "AndroidLost".

Quoted from the Android Lost website
No pre installation required
You didn't install AndroidLost on your phone? No problem! You can push the AndroidLost app to your phone from google market and initiate the connection to googles servers by sending an SMS with the message "androidlost register" to your phone.

I tried that with my gf's phone. The "new user" had already disconnected service so it was a no go.
Might as well try it, OP. I would do it asap.

Try Plan B from the marketplace. Using the web install option and hoping the phone is still on, you may be able to ping your phone and see where it is. It'll report the phone's location (if it can) to your Gmail after being installed remotely from the Play Store. The app is from the same people who make Lookout, a great app to install on your phone before you loose it so you can find it.
And if you find the phone you can call Verizon back and ask to have the phone marked as found and reactivate the IMEI. You can also ask them to reactivate the IMEI (if you've had it deactivated already) so you can install Plan B and try to locate the phone. I went through this exact issue with my dad loosing his Droid X. We didn't find it but we were able to reactivate its disabled IMEI for the purpose of trying one last time to find it, before marking as lost for good. Since the Galaxy S III uses a sim I'm not sure if IMEI deactivation is possible, but either way, good luck!

I know this is a bit off topic of the thread, I just installed Locate my Droid on my SIII but I have a Tab 2 wifi model that is of course equipped with GPS. Anyone know a solution for the Tab 2 that would have similar functions - Locate my Droid says it is incompatible with the Tab 2. I know it is wifi only so it would have to actually be online, but something is better than nothing.

Software Update Service Unavailable

Just got my Galaxy S III on Friday. It's on 4.0.4 right now, and I'm just checking to see if there's an update available and I get this message:
Service unavailable
Check for System Updates under Settings > About device when service is available
If it helps, I've disabled most of the Verizon apps that are included on the phone, but I don't think that would affect anything. *I enabled all of the apps that I disabled, but it's still giving me the same message when I try software update.
I also reset my phone to factory and it still did it.
If there wasn't an update, it would say something like "You are up to date" Right?
Thanks
Depends on which verizon apps. The software update comes from verizon.

Disabling stock software can definitely stop an OTA update from installing.
Ok, I re-enabled everything and tried software update again and it's still saying the same thing... :/
Can anyone help, is this a fault with my phone?
I want to find out before my 14 day return/exchange policy is up :/
Josh...my wife has a thunderbolt and is getting the same thing...her phone booted into boatloader today which I thought was funny since she is straight stock...its not your new phone its them.

I hope so! Would suck to not be able to update to Jelly Bean...whenever Verizon lets it come...
I'm in the same dilemma. I called Best Buy where I upgraded my phone last Friday and they said they've never heard of this. Chances are I might try to have them replace it with a phone that will update.

I think its their server. I just wiped clean all the way back to the original stock image and then tried to get the OTA, and was getting the same message. It worked on monday night...not sure what happened to them since. Oh well, I was going to make a nand backup of my phone with the OTA.

i have the same issue. i checked on my GNEX and no issue. move the sim to my S3 and cant check for updates.WTF...not sure what the deal is. i have gone as far as restoring using ODIN back to the ROM that was shipped with the phone and same result. I know i have had some odd issues with this phone...its been locking up, GPS causes the phone to reboot (not all the time tho). im ready to go back to VZW and swap it out. Im back on stock, NO ROOT,NO NOTHING, just pure stock.
I just recently started getting the same error too. You are not alone my friend.

Just to let you all know I wound up having to get a new phone. The guys in the store all tried telling me that nothing was wrong with my phone, and that the update would come to me 'eventually.' Kept telling me I don't need a new phone.
I had only had the phone for 6 days, and the return/exchange policy is 14, so I demanded they give me a new phone. They said "The new phone's gonna do the same thing dude."
So I get a new phone, and the first thing it does when it's powered up and set up...."UPDATE AVAILABLE!"
I said "Gee, imagine that."
Don't take no for an answer.
Anyone know what controls updates? I cleared data for "sdm" which is part of the check but I don't know what else is. It's pushing and pulling data when checking for an update but always comes back with service unavailable. If this doesn't work when I the next ota comes out I guess verizon is giving me permission to root and install a custom recovery

Are verizon customers able to update via Kies or is that international only? That might be a way around this problem?
Google says yes.... Should have check that first.... Sorry.
