GPS Wont Start Daily

I am noticing a trend now... Each morning the GPS wont start. I startup maps in the morning, and I get no GPS icon. (AGPS still works) When I turn GPS off, GPS won't turn on again... A reboot is required to fix the problem.
2nd phone now with this issue... starting to wonder if its related to charging all night...

I don't think it is related to charging, randomly my GPS will get stuck, either when I first try to use it, or after it has been in use for a while, the GPS icon just sits there, and it won't lock on, and I have to reboot.
Annoying to reboot when you're driving in an area where you're actually relying on the nav to be working!

I've had this issue too. I really hope they come out with an update soon. Love this phone besides the small nuances.

Weird, I don't have this problem but I do have a problem if I leave my WiFi on all night while it's charging. If I do, in the morning when I take it off the charger, the WiFi icon is gone and my 4G icon just keeps flashing every 5 seconds. It won't stop flashing and my phone will not have data until I reboot. Now I just turn off WiFi before going to bed since it doesn't happen any other time.

The easiest way to fix that is reconnect your wifi then while connected to wifi turn wifi off. Boom.

Did you guys get this GPS issue resolved with the new ROMS? I have the same problem and it doesn't seem to change if I use the stock Froyo or latest CM7.
Reboot and the GPS locks pretty quickly.

Do you have new baseband?
That has been giving me instant locks

My GPS is "better" with the new baseband, but that is a highly relative term. It still takes 5 minutes or more to connect usually. The oddest thing though is when I go into GPS Status, I can see it is locked onto 7 or 8 satellites, but still doesn't have a lock, which is dumb because at least 4 should have a perfect lock. I will NEVER buy another LG phone in my life. Wish I'd have just waited for the Sensation, ugh.

My phone was from Wind Canada which has a baseband from Jun 7, 2011. If I am correct, there is no way I can even try the new T-mobile basedband that came with the GB update. LG updater says my phone is up-to-date, and I have not been able to find on the forums here a flashable file for the new baseband.
We're not sure when the Wind version of the GB update is coming. Hopefully soon, but the phone only launched here about 5 weeks ago.
Any other ideas?

Deep sleep

I checked cpu spy this am and I charge my phone every night. In cpu spy there was only 16min of deep sleep and the and 6 hours of 100 mhz state? Whats going on ? Any one enlighten me it usually goes into deep sleep.

Use BetterBatteryStats to look for any unusually high wakelock times.

Do you know what your time since charged was? (I wish it would display total time since charged there...) The "since charged" definition seems weird and hasn't reset on my phone in ages... I've tended to use "since last unplugged".
Pandora appears to be your #1 wakelocker. eBay mobile seems to be pretty bad too.
NetworkLocation wakelocking can be eliminated by unchecking all of the location features in Settings except for when you want network location/GPS.

I assume you were listening to Pandora during that time, in which case, that wakelock is normal. Playing music from your device will also hold a wakelock when the screen is off. If you weren't listening to Pandora at all, then something is wrong.
Whoa. Why the heck is eBay holding that wakelock . Check your notification settings and if it's still holding it, clear its data and try again. Otherwise, I'd uninstall it. I always use the browser to access eBay anyway.

No. In the device settings, turn GPS off until you need it and leave network location checked/enabled. Go into Fancy Widget under weather settings and UNcheck/disable GPS location (GPS is unnecessary for weather updates), verify that network location is checked. Then, I would recommend changing your refresh settings (to update less frequently). I'd bet you have it set to update more frequently than an hour. I also use Fancy Widget and mine is set to 3 hours. This should take care of your network location wakelock (unless another app is also updating with network location).

BTW if Wifi is on but not connected, in Froyo it seems to scan way too often regardless of build.prop setting. Netloc should wakelock less if wifi is off.

Hey ent i noticed after trial and error that phone stays on 100mhz while charging ?but when disconnected it hits deep sleep and there has been no bad wakelocks.wonder if thats y we get slow charge

I installed BetterBatteryStats because I was curious as to why my phone always seemed to drain so quickly. I am rooted and running infused 1.5.3. I have very few widgets, one that actually accesses anything, and don't do much but surf the net or the forums in the morning. I would unplug it at 6:30 and go to work. By about 8 or so I would already be at 90% or less. That was me hardly using it. Well I hope I got my answer. Apparently Beautiful Widgets was KILLING me on the wakelocks! I wish I took a picture of it before I uninstalled it but jesus it was bad! Thanks for the good info I'm gonna keep an eye on it and see how it does.

No, slow charge is a few other things. ALL android phones wakelock when charging.
The phone shouldn't count CPU/screen/etc usage against charge current at all but it does. It seems to do it less so on GB. Still does it, but the spikes seem lower even if I crank stability test. Gonna be a while before I can test a navigation run.
Seems like on GB, difference between screen off and running stability test with screen on is about 200 mA. Haven't tested in that much detail on froyo. Another way of putting that - putting the screen on and cranking CPU will reduce charge rate by at least 1/3 of the 600 mA charge limit.

Wifi Calling shuts off when screen times out

[Q] When the screen times out, my Wifi Calling shuts down until I wake it again. I'm running CM 107 with faux's kernel, and am pretty happy with it. I have wifi set to never shut off in advanced settings...is this something I'll just have to live with, or am I missing something?

EDIT: I found a workaround...sort of. If I disable data, wifi will stay active. Only downside that I can think of is that I won't be able to send/receive mms with wifi calling.
EDIT 2: Nevermind. Still does it.

how is it you know wifi calling is off when screen is off. I ask because I use wifi calling al well and have been through most all the roms and have never run into that as far as I know. Also, do you have juice defender or something similar, maybe set cpu has a profile set to lower cpu on screen off and that's causing it?? could be a couple different things. would be helpful to know what apps you have along those lines.

I've got nothing that would affect the wifi settings. The only thing I can think of is that, maybe, the faux kernel is preset to disconnect wifi at idle periods? If that's a possibility, would I have to dl a CPU governor to determine that?

I dont want to tell you anything I am not sure about. That may be a possibility. Now that I think about it I do remember seeing the icon pop back up after a few secs of screen on when I was on that rom. your best bet if you get no solid answer is to post it in the kernel thread and Faux himself may see it and Im sure he will answer you if he does see it. You could also PM faux but im sure he prob gets too many to check.

I have the exact same problem and I'm using CM7 latest nightlies. When screen goes off, WiFi will switch off, no matter how you set it in the WiFi options.

The newest nightly updates the RIL. This may possibly be a fix, but I can't try it until I get home tonight.

Sorry, didnt see this last night. I am running Weapon right now. I really like it. I have had 0 problems with it. The only thing I dont like about it is it wont support any custom kernels. So no OC. Also I cant get Netflix. Its worth having a stable rom though.

Weapon is the only rom that I can get it to stay on with. faux has a new kernel for weapon that has oc I think

To all following this thread: babyzay is correct. After flashing every ROM possible, I am certain that this issue is unique to CM7-based ROMS. I am sticking with Weapon and faux's latest, and everything is working great.

I've never experienced this issue yet, I'm on Nightly 118.

Phone not sleeping...

Over night if not plugged in over 8 or 9 hours I will lose 50% or more battery!!!
How do I fix this???
Rooted on stock rom, and I debloated the phone myself.

Something's got a wakelock going. More than likely an app you have installed that has a service running in the background. Get betterbatterystats off XDA and look for wakelocks..

Not really useful since it'll only find some unknown programs like "Event Log Service" or "*wifi*" and you'll have no clue what they are. Just reboot your phone.

Mine sleeps well and it was not plugged in while had wifi running.

get da_g's kernel .43pre2 flash it than go to system lib and delete modules. You will be fine. get cpu spy and check if everything works great.

That is his CM7 kernel right? and pre2 is version 2 instead of 4 (newest)? Sorry I havent been following his work closely lately.

All I see in his thread is .42. where is the .43pre2?
Thing is CPUSpy says my phone is 54% of the time in deep sleep. Yet in the 7 hours, im now at 36% with 1:41 screen time. that is terrible. If I wasnt using the phone, it would drop just about that fast anyway.
**** my epic 4g touch was getting 20 hours with 5 hours screen time....

Wifi won't shut off

The usual apologies if there's a thread here on this already. I couldn't find one.
I've tried two KK4 ROMs, and on both my wifi can't be configured to shut off when the phone sleeps. It's a pretty significant battery drain, as you might suspect. I have trouble believing that I'm the only one with this issue. I haven't seen it before on any of the other 2.1-2.2-2.3 ROMs.
I've tried the usual - reflashing the modem. I didn't have the phone plugged in at the times of the flashes. I hear that can cause issues. But the same issue has come up with both Serenity 6 and Legend 2.
Am I missing something simple in the settings?

I have ran a few of the Fasty ROMS on my Cappy and all of them were able to shut off wifi while screen off. I believe its something he did to his ROMs to allow that.
Im not sure if thats a KK4 issue or not I just know it works on his ROMS

It's the first thing I checked. No matter which setting, it acts as if "never" is selected.
