So a few of my buddies have the Droid X and they bought a screen protector from Verizon, it gives the screen a slight haze but it barely shows any oil/fingerprints if at all.. anyone know if anything like this is available for the Fascinate?
Yes, its called the anti glare protector, makes the screen look crappy and feels like the screen is always dirty
so fresh and so superclean.

haha ok thanks!
If you want a screen protector, I would highly recommend getting a Steinheil, details and links and reviews in this thread (They are the best screen protectors around IMHO and I'm not alone on this):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820451
They make an Anti Glare version which is what you're describing, but I wouldn't reccomend any Anti Glare protectors, as the screen on our device is so nice (anti glare will make the picture not nearly as nice), and since it's capacitive touch, you can just wipe fingerprint oils off on your shirt etc even with the screen on without it interacting with it like a resistive touch would. Their crystal clear one, is almost exactly the same feel as just the bare glass and it's just as clear.

First off, my intention for getting a screen protector was to never actually protect the screen, but to reduce finger prints as I have quite oily fingers.
First I tried the Ultimate Screen Protector from Seido.
PRO: Looks like there's no protector on the screen, amazing clarity.
CON: Did NOT help with the finger prints at all. No help in how easily they got ON the screen, or how difficult they are to clean once on.
Then I sent my phone into HTC for repair and they screwed up the screen protector, so I had to take it off.
Now I have on DCMugen's Matte screen protector.
PRO: No fingerprints! For someone with oily fingers this was great.
CON: HUGE reduction in screen quality/clarity. Makes the screen very grainy and small text harder to read.
So now I'm torn, because it seems the clear screen protector doesn't help with fingerprints at all, so I'm constantly wiping it off, but the matte screen protector completely ruins this beautiful screen. I wish there was an intermediate, something which did not reduce fingerprints perhaps as much as the matte screen protector, but closer in clarity to the ultra clear.
thanks for that - i have teh dcmugen clear on my phone right now and its just as bad as the screen without a protector. I have the matte sitting here ready to apply but after reading your post I think i'll hold off - i have enough trouble reading the screen outdoors as it is.
Well, I think the matte one will help with the outdoor visibility very slightly. I mean, overall visibility of the screen. It may be more visible, but the quality of the screen will be much lower.
When you say "its just as bad as the screen without a protector" do you mean in terms of finger prints?
yea finger prints.
the dcmugen matte protecter is amazing outdoors, with that protector and the automatic brightness setting i never have a problem seeing outside, with the clears it was always a pain in the ass, i just put my last dcmugen on the phone, time to order more. Ill never buy my screen protectors from anywhere else
damn I guess I better try out that matte protector after all

Did you try it out? What do you think?
zagg screen protector seems to be the best of both.. no fingerprints and clarity retained.
I have never tried those two brands i have always used Best Skins ever and Gadget Shieldz and they work great. Zagg always costs too much and leaves a orange peel effect on all my devices.
OP, Just use the first screen protector from Seido no sense in ruining that beautiful amoled screen with the other brand just to keep finger prints off and just learn to deal with the finger prints it is a touch screen phone.

Not yet- too busy playing with froyo. will update again if i do
zagg sucks - the feel of the plastic is too sticky for good swiping imo
Any pics of the matte on the phone?
the difference in clarity honestly isnt that great of a difference, the fingerprints and grease that collects on the regular screen protectors affects the clarity more to be honest. Now that its finally always sunny out ive been using a regular clear protector cause i ran out of dcmugens, and i cant see **** on my screen from the glare, i cant wait till the other dcmugens i ordered get here. only down fall is it takes about two weeks to get them in the us since they ship from hong kong
Hi, have any one try a Matt Screen Protector on DHD? I'm interested in the Matt one but afraid that the color would be distorted/dimmed too much... Any suggestion? Thanks!
I installed the Martin Fields protector, and the picture is like before the install, no blurryness or anything. Crisp and clear.
I can highly recommend it, and no worries about any airbubbles with MartinFields

has your DHD got a matte screen?
I got a matte one from a Japanese company (Sanwa). It very slightly reduces crispness but feels smooth as silk even when my finger is a bit tacky.
actually the matte or anti fingerprint really diminishes the screens colors and brightness. it will do injustice to your phone but no more wiping due to greasy fingers.
So does anyone know any good matt screen protectors?
Gotta comment again about my MartinFields, u get bubbles if u have some crap between screen and the protector it took me about 20min to install it perfecly, always some crap on the screen and had to use scotchtape to remove them or just not inline with the screen. But i got and worth the time the protector has a rly good feel to it, and even with sticky fingers no problem at all, fingers glides rly good. Almost as no protector at all fingerprints show only when screen is off. Recommended.

Firstly:
I have used a matte protector, it really messes with the colors, whites end up "rainbowed" etc. It feels much nicer though, so weigh up what is most important to you. Personally i dont use a matte one any more.
Secondly, i think these martin fields screen protectors are a complete rip off. I have tried many brands, and frankly you can pick up a pack of 10 on ebay for a few pounds, they fit well and if you install them correctly they are invisible.
I dont see how the Martin Fields protectors are superior, the ebay cheapies do NOT dim the screen.

I had a matt 'anti-glare' protector from Brando but have replaced it with a cheap one that came free with a charger.
Why? Because..
a) it reduced the visibility of the screen in any light and washed out the colours and diminished sharpness of the screen,
b) the anti-glare didn't get rid of all the glare so it was still hard to read in bright light, and
c) when I tried to remove it to put on a replacement DHD I found that it was impossible to clean properly, and I couldn't remove all of the bubbles, and it also creased very easily.
Once creased it couldn't be straightened, so I threw it away.

I've just gone back to a glossy screen protector due to the rainbow effect and reduced sharpness of the matte screen protector.

the best way to instal screen protectors / body shields is in a steamy enviroment, i always have a shower then clean the screen and instal, never have any dust etc get under the screens this way.. The steam pull all the dust out of the air!!.
My screen with zagg looks like diamond

if you are worried about sticky fingers try rubbing some wd40 oil onto a glossy screen protector, works a trick as wd40 is oleophobic
I ripped my martin fields one somehow, its been on for about 3 weeks and it has a cut in it D:
Wonder if they will replace it :O
used matt and clear. Using clear one now. Crisp & clear is more important than anti fingerprint & anti glare.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I went daft and got a mirror protector problem it not so clear and it makes the screen go funny colours
E=Mc2
I would like to get a matte protector, because the glare from the sun gets annoying when i have my screen on lowest brightness (which is most the time) though I don't want to loose crispness. So still not sure which one i'd go for

wow does this really work? would it stay on the screen and not come off your fingers? got some wd40 at home might just give it a shot.
I just bought a anti glare screen protector for my g2 and it feels great but leaves a rainbow effect on the screen. It is kind of like when a droplet of water is on a tv screen, but much smaller; is this normal? Are there any anti glare screen protectors that don't leave this kind of effect? Thank you.
I also had a anti-glare screen protector, from clarivue.
But not a big fan of the rainbow effect.
The thing I like is that the screen doesn't get dirty that much.
Now I got the ultra clear from clarivue and it's perfect!
So the rainbow effect is normal. I guess I'll buy a clear SP. Thanks
I have had a really good experience with an anti-glare product from Boxwave called Clear Touch Anti-Glare. No bubbling, no glare, no fingerprints or visible dust, etc. Highly recommend it. Good luck.

Thanks, but the did it leave a grainy effect on the screen? The screen protector I use now does all that you listed, but has a grainy effect on the screen.
It's not "grainy," but it does have a slight textured effect. This gives the screen protector its 'anti-glare' quality. It does not, however, interfere with with touch sensitivity or visibility. I know there is also a Clear Touch Crystal screen protector by Boxwave which would not have any sort of texture or graininess to it whatsoever. But then you lose the anti-glare feature...

I recently bought a SGP Ultra Oleophobic screen protector for my Motorola Atrix 4G and I'm very impressed with the clarity and fingerprint resistance of it. I had a look at the SGP store but it doesn't look like they have one for the Touchpad.
Can anyone recommend a similar screen protector for the Touchpad?
Thanks,
Mark

I've had good luck with the generic matte/anti-glare screen protectors. They seem to do a good job of reducing fingerprints, while also making the screen nice and slick and less reflective. They do "dull" the screen a little, but I've been putting them on every device in the house lately. I haven't gotten around to doing the TP yet (I bought the $1.50 one from Overstock recently).

I apply a coating of Mass metal polish!
It slicks up the screen, gives an element of print resistance, doesn't attract dust and re-polishes easily.
Once a month is sufficient to keep it working nicely.
If you try this then the first time you use it the screen response will be erratic until you polish it enough. Then its super slick.
+1 on the anti glare screen protectors. Definitely does the trick.
I got one for the original I-pad and cut it to fit my touchpads, love it, cuts the glare from the screen and I hardly ever have to wipe the screen off.
i have a matte protector on and it definitely reduces the amount of fingerprints but the screen quality definitely suffered

+1 here. I hadn't used my Touchpad in a while (until I finally put CM on over the weekend), and my finger just kept getting hung up on the screen while trying to drag. Every other touchscreen device in my house has a generic matte protector on it now, so I'm used to the smoother glide. I have to say, the quality seems like it varies a bit. The ones I put on my Nook Color and my wife's phone look much better than the one I put on my phone. For some reason, that one gave the screen a lot more pixelation and like waves of light/dark. I still have yet to put the Overstock one on the TP.

I've got a matte protector as well, actually it's from overstock.com or buy.com as a anti glare screen protector for $1.50. It's a great buy, it definitely makes the screen a joy to use. The only gripe I have is when I'm in the office and have the TP sitting on the desk, the anti glare screen protector has a glare on it, funny i know. But when it's on the touchstone or at an angle I'm fine. And when I'm in a dimly lit area i don't even notice it. It's a great buy and for $1.50 you can't really go too wrong.

Yeah, they should really be called "glare-reducing" or something
At least the screen isn't like a complete mirror anymore
im usinjg this and I love it. Its the best screen protector ever http://www.amazon.com/Generiks-TouchPad-CLEAR-Screen-Protectors/dp/B0057POM16/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328048435&sr=8-1
I hate the idea of an extra layer of plastic on top of this great display.
Rain-X, people - it works a treat!
Any recommendation for a screen protector?

I can see how this would make it slide easier, but does it really do that much to prevent finger marks/smugges?
Hi all
I have the s4, and their is so many screen protectors online , some cheap, some expensive, I DO NOT, know which one to buy.
I want the best ANTI-GLARE protector as I think the s4 is terrible when In, sometimes I can hardly see the screen.
I know anti-glare screens are usualy Matte finish and very faintly effect the screen but you can hardly tell anyway.
I don't really like film protectors as I don't think they would really protect the screen if dropped as they are only film, I feel that glass protectors or any other kind would be best.
can anybody recommend any
thank you
None in existence as far as I am aware. There is no glass anti glare.
The obvious solution is to apply a glass protector and then an anti glare film on top of the glass protector.

Or maybe the opposite of this installation, if you're daring enough to try and possible mess up the products. Install the film, then the glass on top of it?
If it works, then you get the anti-glare without the "film feel".
I kinda have a feeling it wouldn't work that well, but I'd give it a shot if it were something I wanted badly enough and had money to burn.
Welll so far I have not come to know about any such none film anti glare screen protector...so if you find some link or any vendor in your region then do share...I would also like to know about such interesting product....
I've been using the media devil anti glare screen protector. I started using anti glare protectors on my OG Epic. I have tried many brands. The media devil one, although it is a film, has by far the least distortion of any I have tried. Most people won't notice any distortion using the media devil. Since I have seen some anti glare protectors that created horrible distortion, I believe I am extra picky.
I used the media devil on my s3 and I now have it on my s4. I wouldn't use anything else. It definitely helps with fingerprints and seeing the phone in the sun or bright lighting.
Placing a piece of glass over the anti glare film will negate the anti glare properties of the film.
If you do find a non film anti glare product please do share. In the meantime I will stick(no pun intended) with the MD.
Only option is a film type protector....using a glass protector on top of a anti glare would not work. Not only will it negate the anti glare, but i doubt the glass protector will lay perfectly flat on the anti glare film. Im sure it will leave bubbles.
Im going to move to a anti glare one soon myself.
i hardly see any one mention them but i have the moshi http://store.moshimonde.com/ivisor-...4-black.html?gclid=CKfFsqP_w7oCFcGd4AodyhsAlA i made mistake of using a electronic wipe on my phone and applying it still works fine but you only use water to clean them. i like the way it looks outside as well. 25 bucks at att also 20 dollars online on ebay from a quick search.
I've used a few non-glass ones on other phones and they are all junk.
I don't think I would use them ever again. They all had this rainbow effect of where they would show the RGB breakdown from the screen for some reason.
