[Q] How do you unsync apps from the Market? - Android Apps and Games

I try out a lot of apps. I don't always delete them though, and they've piled up over time. I can take the time to delete them app by app (with an uninstaller program of course).
But is there a way just to clear my market purchases/downloads so they don't sync every time I try out a ROM?
I want to be able to load a ROM and basically start fresh. No apps, but with all my calendar and contacts from my gmail account that I also have associated with the Market.

Using Titanium Backup, you have to option to detach an app from the market.
Long press on the app in TB and ull find it in the options.

Titanium Backup (free) does not allow it. Is there another manual way with root explorer or terminal imulator?

Funny, i did a backup with titanium free and the market forgot all free apps i had installed...

[Q] How do i save stuff?

How do i save like for example my contacts and stuff... i alwaise like testing new roms and kernels and i alwasie have to add all my contacts again. can someone do a step by step on how to do that?? it would be a lot of help
Titanium backup will save your contacts wifi hot spots bluetooth pairings and all application data and other useful things. There is a free and a pro version. The free only allows one backup of everything. Just open the app and click on the backup restore tab and long press the items and select backup or you can press menu and do a batch backup. You dont really need to back system elements unless they are things you modified.

You can also export your contacts to your SD card, then reimport through the contacts app. I have all of mine backed up with google now, so whenever I reflash it automatically sync's from there (instead of having to use my contacts backup/titanium to restore)

So this is actually what I was going to start a thread on. What directory are contacts stored under? My phones already rooted.

Just go to your contacts, hit menu, and then chose export. No need to root to do this. It's a pretty basic function of the phone.
Lol I was looking through plenty of folders.

Best backup method before rooting

I plan on rooting my t-bolt soon and flashing one of the deflated ROMs soon. What's the best method for backing up apps and settings, and should it be done prior to rooting of after rooting but prior to flashing?
Any tips/feedback are appreciated.

*Call logs backup and restore
*SMS backup and restore
I dont know anything worthwhile to backup your apps, its better to have root and titanium backup.

Right, and I'm familiar with Titanium Backup, but it requires root, and the current root method wipes the phone as I understand.

I generally use SMS Backup and Restore on my phones, but this was giving me a problem on the TB. I restored about 5000 SMS messages from my OG Droid, but when on the TB it will crash it. This seems to be a problem with the messaging store, as both the stock messaging app and Handcent will crash (force close).
Anyone else having this problem?
I use Mybackup Pro to backup SMS, MMS, call logs, settings, apps, etc. It has a schedule feature so it backs up everything every night to my SD card.
I've used it to restore my sms, mms, and call logs...but havent used it to restore apps or their data. (for instance, i've never restored my angry birds scores and I dont know if its possible without root)
So take a look at that app and hopefully that might help you out.
Oh, and to better answer your question, I use Titanium backup to backup all of my apps and data. Unfortunately, you will have to be rooted for it to work.

+1 for MyBackup Pro. You need root to restore app data and market links. First thing I did after I rooted was restore my Angry Birds backup from my Fascinate. lol

So, does Mybackup Pro do the same thing as Titanium Backup? Or do you use Titanium Backup as well?
I'm thinking of rooting soon, so I figured if its the same thing as Titanium Backup, i wont have to pay for a new app.
basically. It allows you to back up and restore apps, app data and market links. You can also back up call logs, sms, mms, calendar, contacts, alarms and some other miscellaneous things along with scheduled backups. I just find the interface to be much more user friendly than when I was playing around with Titanium Backup.

They basically do the same thing. Titanium backup does take a little getting used to, as the interface isn't very intuitive. Once you get used to it, you should have no problems.
Either one is good.
I looked up MyBackup on the Market and I see it'll back up apps but root is needed for app-data backups. Am I SOL for backing that up before rooting? I wonder if a non-wiping root method is forthcoming...

How to backup apps to prepare for ICS upgrade?

Dear people,
I'm using Endymion Rom but I'm thinking about upgrading to ICS.
What is the best way to backup my apps? Titanium backup?
Kind regards,
n0elite
Yup, titanium backup.
Yup, TitaniumBackup will definitely do the trick!
One thing though; when jumping roms, it could be a good idea to use some other app for the sms backup. Titanium sometimes have trouble restoring those cross platforms, at least that's my experience.
I use MyBackup (free version works fine) to backup sms, mms and call log.
Good luck with your ics-flashing!
[edit] I presume you have a Google (gmail) account?
If so, then just use that calendar and it will sync automatic (if you want) as soon as you add the account to your phone.
Same goes for the contacts.
I'm also in the same boat thinking about backing up in prep for ICS.
myphoneexplorer is a really good app for backing up contact, sms, calander data, etc. It does it over wifi and I use this regularly.
I've got Titainuim but still not got to grips on the correct way to use it. Anyone got any tips?
i use ES File Expoler now, and i think it very easy to use back up file and apps sorry my bad english
ES file explorer or Rom toolbox is a good one free versionwill backup apps to restore back, used it from runnydroid4 to endyminon 3.5 no probs at all

Moving SMS from one app to another?

I have a lot of SMS that I have from running CM12 with the bundled SMS/MMS app, but now I want to use another rom and that thing comes with the google Messenger app. So does anyone know how to tranfser sms from one app to another, I can get the .db file from SMS/MMS but I don't know how I should go about importing it to messenger. Also I tried titanium backup but trying to restore the App + data just says restore and it never finishes restoring.
I've tried a google search, but there isn't very much to find. I guess people aren't as sentimental as I

The TiBu restore takes quite a long time. You need to set TiBu as your Messaging app (it should ask you to do this), otherwise you will keep getting pop-ups.
There is also an app called SMS Backup & Restore, which I have used several times to copy SMS/MMS from phone to phone.

Apps themselfs has nothing to do with SMS/MMS storage. They just read them and show them up to you. If you are using TB, then backup in xml format, because if you do in regullary way you will have some force closes. Or you just use SMS Backup and Restore app from Play store.
EDIT: If you restore app + data you won't get your SMS back, because they are store somewhere else. Actually, when you restore an app, you will get just the app itself and settings off it. Also TB can't restore system app yet in Lollipop.

SMS Backup and Restore did not do MMS (group/picture messages) the last time I looked. TiBu does this nicely, MMS too, though it does take a long time as others stated above.
SMS Backup & Restore does MMS messages if you check that option in the settings.
