If you want go make your own then just pull the pngs from your framework, use photo shop to size them and make them the same size, then convert them back to pngs and reinsert to framework or put on your sd and use ninjamorph to swap them out.

I was hoping to get some help on this. I use the security pattern unlock feature on my phone and hate to see the black background covering my live wallpaper.
I searched a bit but could not find anything that related to the background, only the color of the buttons.

Its got to be an XML in layout of the frameworks.apk
im right with you man. i even pm'd a few theme creators who make them on other devices but have the clear background. one response was that it was default for his device to use whatever background you currently have.
im on an eris with the same problem ha

[Q] where do I get Icons from?

hey guys!
I have one simple question.
Where are you downloading all the icons for your modded themes?
I want to change some .png´s in the framework-res.apk with Ninjamorph, but i don´t know where I can get the icons from.
hoping for soon answers.
regards DAuL
I get mine from various theme files.
Also try http://iconspedia.com/ and, my personal favorite, http://dryicons.com/free-icons/.
Basically, all you need is icons in png format and you're ready to go!
But the size isn't important, or? Can I take every icon I want or do i have to take care on something special?
Regards

They might need resizing to the same dimensions as whatever you're replacing.
also try http://www.iconfinder.com/
And how can I resize those png's?
If possible, I want to do it with my device and not with pc.

I do it with PS, maybe someone can recommend a phone app.

Theme or app to change background of drawer?

Is there any theme or app out there that can change the background color of the drawer or even make it transparent?
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
If you use adw launcher you can have any color, or transparency.
Sent from my rooted X10a using Tapatalk
If you use the stock launcher you can edit the framework to change it or you can find a theme or you can use ninjamorph if you have a copy of the image you want to replace it with.
Hope this helps.
When I used Ninjamorph and replaced some png's in framework-res.apk my device didn't boot anymore. What could be the problem?
Regards

@daul
Which pngs did you replace?
It could be that the pngs are of different sizes to the original ones?
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via Xda
its stuff like that, that makes me not wanna do any editing of those files. Will try the ADW Launcher
@ gavriel18 How easy is it to edit those files?
Its not too bad.. This my first attempt so I believe anyone can do it!!
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via Xda
Afaik the pngs get resized automatically. I was getting at the possibility that u tried editing a 9.png. they have data built in so u can't use ninjamorph. Imho ninjamorph is easy to use. Just read the instructions first.
Btw I have no prior graphic design or programming experience. That's how easy it is.

Gps and bluetooth icon for the status bar.
but these are no 9.pngs.
Every time after I have to confirm finishing my project in Ninjamorph, there comes a little screen: please wait. I think this is because it wants to reboot. But after a few second it gets stuck and I have to remove the battery because my device isn´t able to do anything.
I hope you understand what the problem is..
kind regards
DauL

Might be cool to just have icons and no name under icons..

So i was thinking it might look really clean to be able to erase the app name under the icons and just have icons.... Maybe we can get a developer to work on this? Anyone else like this idea?
I think GOlauncher gives you that option.

You can do it for the homescreen icons with an app like Desktop Visualizer but doing it that way for ALL homescreen icons is a PITA too.

I recommend adw. You can make it look identical to sense if you like the look, and it has that option.

my rosie is modded to the t. transparent app drawer, my name on all apps bar, cyan text color. its not easy but possible. to remove the names under the apps you just change the text color value to #00000000. full transparency. you need a knowledge of apktool and decompiling and compiling

Just saying sense is customizable. Once you know it it really doesn't take that much time or effort. The phone is designed to run sense. It just makes sense

All he did was ask if it could be done and if others would be interested. He likes the stock look of Sense and probably being able to use Sense widgets, which cannot be done with ADW or LP. Calm down there big boy, take some deep breaths, everything will be ok.

Oh no, I understand, but see, If you had the no how to change the stock colors then you wouldn't need to ask. See everything is available via search. But instead you just posted and asked. Notice how no one else posted to help you? Its not easy to theme. There is a lot of research and sweat and blood.
Since you were trying to take the easy way to begin with, I figured I'd give it to you super easy...Install GO SMS. Its easy. You like easy. Win.

Tweaked, you can't help those who are too lazy to help themselves. Sorry man, sometimes these things are a lost cause.
Allow me to help you help yourself while always helping everyone here at XDA. Search for APKtool and/or APKmanager. No one is going to explain any further how to theme since there are more then enough threads/sites/information out there already. Eventually you'll either learn it or just live with the colors..I would always say turn to GO SMS but I can see you have taken a distaste for doing things the easy way. Well here's the hard way my friend. Enjoy

You first need to decompile the apk. With apktool then inside the drawable hdpi folder is your images. Change them as you want. As far as changing the text , that can get difficult. Some of the RGB values might be In styles xml and colors xml. It's been a long time since I did it but I think some text values get pulled from com.HTC.resources. as well. Just play with it till you figure it out. It's the best way to learn. Once you get it how you want recompile ,sign and push to your phone to check it out.

Ok here is what you do. Get the android SDK, Java, JDE and JRE. Install all of them with admin rights. Then Get Apktool. Decompile the apk, then look through over 500 lines of XML coding and changing the color codes one by one, recompiling after each change and flashing to test until you find the changes you need.
If that confuses you then Use another sms app as advised. Go sms beats the stock hands down.
