When I flashed my rooted captivate with serendipity and then again with phoenix, I noticed that sometimes the screen would get vertical bars running down it.
For example, in gmail, only the top bar where it says inbox and my email name will have vertical bars going across. If I touch the screen it will go back to normal though. Anyone have any ideas?
This did not happen with my previous captivate (it had random shutdowns so I exchanged it).

Does this happen on stock too? If yes, get it replaced.

I don't know if I just never noticed this since I just got the phone on Friday but every time I slide out the keyboard, it'll show the landscape home screen for a few seconds and then open up the phone and I have to hit home to get back. Same when I slide the keyboard back in. I have changed a couple things like the clock, icons, slider, landscape icons, and so that the portrait left softkey opens contacts instead of phone. Any ideas? Thanks!
im actually having the same problem, everytime i open up the phone say to respond to a text message or something the phone screen (dialer screen) pops up and i have to close it and then go back to my text message inbox.
anyone know whats causing this?
This is a known problem that HTC needs to do something about. Some of the custom ROM's tend to do this with less frequency.
Same problem here! Have had the phone for around 3 weeks, just started happening yesterday.
Any solutions?
Thread isn't getting much attention.
I flashed NATF's latest Raphael RoOM (4.1) around a week ago, and I haven't had the problem again.

I believe theres a reg edit for this, but you must re enable it after a while.

My AT&T Captivate currently has Serendipity 6.2 ROM. When I go to the apps screen, many times I get a blank screen, with the Home icon at the very bottom. It doesn't happen every time, though; when the apps do show, it's because I've waited in the Home screen for a rather long time.
Does Serendipity hide the apps until it's loaded the icons for all of them?

yes it does....it also means you got a TONS of apps like me LOL (325!)
I have a Captivate that I recently flashed Di11i's 7.1.1 to, before that I had flashed my first ROM which was Serendipity 6.2. Both times I have found that I don't get incoming calls. People calling me get 2-3 rings, and then a traditional "busy signal" sound. On my end, either the phone vibrates once but the screen doesnt change from whatever screen I'm on. Or, The screen goes black like its going to the incoming call screen, but the black screens only flashes and goes away, as does a force close message box that goes away quickly without me clicking it.
Everything else on my phone works as far as I can tell, I've been running my current ROM for about 5 days without issues other than this one. This same exact problem also happened when I flashed Serendipity 6.2 (which I only kept for like a day because of this problem)
Hi,
I've only had my Nexus S for a couple of days and loving it so far, but this morning I had a problem. Here's how it happened:
When my alarm clock went off I hit the snooze button and turned the screen off, went back to sleep. 10 minutes later the alarm went off again later as expected and so I hit snooze again and turned the screen off like before. 5 minutes later I decided to get up as otherwise I would have been late for work, so I go to my phone to disable the alarm as otherwise it would be buzzing when I'm in the shower and the missus would get annoyed. The problem however was that I couldn't unlock the screen! I was jabbing at the power button repeatedly to get it to come on but no response at all. I ending up removing the battery. I should also add that my phone was plugged in a the time as I'd left it charging over night.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I will try and replicate the problem. Here's how my phone is at the moment:
All my homescreens are bare apart from the main one where I have a 4 shortcuts, google search bar and the analogue clock widget. Apps I currently have installed are: Ebay official, facebook official, Twitter official, 3G watchdog, Fruit Ninja, Angy Birds, Live Holdem, Google maps, Gmail Unread Count, Movies, TV Guide.
I'm hoping that this problem was just a one-off.
Thanks
sort of same here. i bought it last thursday and today i can't use the lower part of the screen, right where the phone, menu and browser icons are. Space bar won't work when writing text, etc.
If anyone knows how to fix, pls share
The device is stock 2.3.3, i9023XXKB1, didn't root.

I have been using Nexus S for 4 months now, and I do have random reboots once in a while. Did the phone well work after the reboot?

I never had responsive problem on my phone other than the phone just freezing... Maybe theres something wrong, go ask Samsung.
unfortunately i also have such a problem now! since this morning my screen does not respond on touch correctly...it is very hard to unlock the screen (have to do it very slowly, bar is jumping like crazy) and after that it seems like the screen is reacting even on any reflection, suddenly the status bar is coming down, if i am in a menu, it always scrolls down and up...damned, that sux!
any ideas what i could do? or is this a case for samsung support?
ps: i did not flash anything in the last days, i even restored my nandbackup, that i made after 2.3.4-update (no custom kernel, no nothing), but that did not change anything...
I had brought my OP7 Pro from the community drop, and moved from a OP5. After the first day I noticed a box that popped up on the screen saying 'Thank you for the feedback', so far this has happened in the file manager, home screen and speedtest (Ookla). What I don't understand is where this pop-up like thing has originated from, as I have the exact same setup and apps I had on my OP5 which never had this issue. It flashes randomly about 40-50 times in about 5-7 seconds then just disappears. (Image below is what I could screenshot before it went away)
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
Thanks in advance!

That's the problem though, I've had no phantom touch issues, its the same pop-up in multiple apps or even no apps open which I find even stranger.
