Hey guys,
I'm looking to change the boot screen on my Milestone.
I'm just wondering if boot screens are specific to phones or will all boot screens work on all phones... I searched around a bit an could find anything.
I just don't want to accidentally brick my phone cuz I'm kinda still new at this
Thanks!
edit: sorry, i just noticed the forum for questions... >_<
Edit2: Found my answer. If a Mod could close this that would be awesome.

i had my htc around 5 months and it broke, so i got a new one from virgin and it came today.
ive just switched it on and it had a virgin media quick link. so i went to delete it and its got a little lock where the X should be.
anyone know how to get rid of this?
xx ty xx
oh and to top it all off its got a ****ty virgin logo as my phone loads up... wish i still had my old one
=[
This will be cooked into the rom I guess, you can flash it and that may solve your problem. Maybe if you unlock you phone.
there were some cabs floating around to remove the OEM links, not sure if they were for Virgin or not, but you should consider a custom ROM ..
Also , this really should have been in Q&A ....
sorry for not posting in the right place..
whats a custom rom? is better than just installing loads of cabs?
please im really stupid can you explain. ill be you best friend

By splash screen do you mean the Nexus S animation, or the "Google" word when the phone first turns on.
The boot animation is changed the same way as the Nexus One's and many other phones are, just make a properly formatted bootanimation.zip and put it in the proper directory. There's plenty of guides on doing this across the xda forums.
The "Google" word we talked about in another thread a while back. No one reported being able to locate it. I suspect it's in the bootloader itself, but way beyond my skills to validate that.
i meant the "google" screen, but like you said its not easy to locate where it is.
but maybe some dev could find out where it is and how to change it
so, i tried a bit and searched and..found really nothing about it yet.
only a video but it seems to be a fake http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clKd8M_fhEI
because the opened lock is gone when his "splash" screen apears.
i need to look into the bootloader/SPL or need to know how the partition in there is named and what the splash-file format is.
does someone know how i'm able to do this?
Hi,
I'm hoping this is the right place to post this question, but if it is not, I apologize.
First of all, I'm not talking about the bootanimation.
I'm talking about the screen that shows up "before" the boot animation.
It's a white bright screen with just HTC in the middle.
The reason I want to modify it is because it's just way too bright. It literally hurts my eyes, not to mention it's wasting battery there every time it boots. I'd appreciate any help on this.

You're talking about the splash screen and you flash it almost the same way as you would a radio.
Is that same as bootscreen? I googled for flash screen or flashscreen, but not much result for android. I also searched in some forum's theme threads, and I see a bunch of bootscreens but don't see any flash.
And, when you say almost the same way as the radio, does that mean I need to wipe data and cache? That'd suck...
there is actually a custom one a few threads down. No you don't have to data wipe but the image has to have a certain name plus .img and you just push it with adb.
I'm failing to find the thread you are talking about. Are you talking about that BIOS bootanimation thing? If not, can you please provide the link?

Thank you. I've followed links to links from there, and now I'm making my own flash screen
Speaking of the BIOS boot animation...lol Any luck?
Yeah, the thing is I created that forgeting that I generally have the fastboot on anyway and never see it. lol. But custom splashes are nice for when you restart your phone.
I just finished making my flash screen. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12198485#post12198485
Hello, I've bought Lock 2.0 for about 1 and a half year ago, it fitted my tattoo's (click) screen then, and now that i have a desire, the bottom part (slide to unlock) part is not at the very bottom, anyone know how to fix this? or maybe a older version works better?
and yes I've searched for the answer at Google and at the forum before i posted, and i did not find anything, just a whole bunch of people that is having the same problems as me.
And again yes; i know widget-locker exists and it's awesome, but i like the animation and smoothness on Lock2.0
Screens at attachments.
Thank you.
BTW. Sorry for the bad English, it's early and i haven't got any sleep this night.
No one? Anyone got a idea?
and yes...I did search and yes I did find a few things that may help but I was looking for a more definitive answer really haha
so, I just got a samsung galaxy s 2 X (hercules sgh-t989d) I'm with Telus. version 2.3.5 kernel version 2.6.35.11 gingerbread TLKJ3
so...
I love it .. sick phone...really pleased. I did the unheard of and gave it to my now ex girlfriend to 'have a look at'
well...she took a few pics and changed the lock screen image to something I don't want to see...
I simply want the old normal slightly feminine bright pink lock screen back hahaha
I can't see to find out how to do that...
I found this...but I'm not sure if this is the fix or not to be honest.
Can you guys maybe help me out?
Thanks very much...from a guy who dumped his girl cause she hosed his lock screen on his new ill phone hahaha
I fixed it...
after hours of digging around in the os I found under settings/display/screen display (which simply looked like a subject as opposed to something i can click LMAO)
well, under that you can change the home screen or the lock screen and clock position etc there.
thank god, no rom hack or lockscreen apps.
