Which method of downloading and searching for apps do you guys use most now since theres finally a first party website for apps. Do you still use the market place app OR the website?
I've found the website to be unreliable. It never shows my installed apps correctly. It won't show even half of what is installed but it will show apps that I uninstalled three months ago. I've tried downloading six different apps from the site, none ever downloaded. Plus, I rarely use my laptop anymore since I can do most of what I need to do on my Evo just as easily.
So... the app.

Not sure why it matters what we used but I am going to guess both for most people. On your computer lets use the web. On your phone lets use the app. Since I use both I can't vote.
Website (mostly)
Reason:
1. Easier searching and browsing
2. Much easy to understand what the app is doing
3. No big issue in terms of installing, it's real fast, once I click ok in browser, the phone start to download near immediately.
Website when i'm at the computer. So most of the time.

Plainjane is right, the site is really unreliable, but only if you check your instqlled apps. I prefer the market on my phone, but it is easier to use the website's push install (especially when you want to install a lot of apps in a short time)
Sent from my GT-I5700 using XDA Premium App
The list of installed app on the website for me is broken beyond broken (shows every app I have ever installed instead of which ones are currently installed)
But I do use the website more. As much as I love my vision, I like the bigger screen size on my monitor
i use the web market of cause because it is so esay to use and totaly somoth
ya like others, i don't have any big issues with the web market. i like it & its UI. i mix it up from time to time tho
removed
Market on the phone. Mostly when I install the app I want to use it immediately. When going to the website it takes about 5 minutes between the time I push the install button and the installation actually happening on my phone.
Sorry, but I must be missing something here, but I cannot find any place in the honeycomb market app to write a review. I am looking at my installed apps, and I can't find it anywhere.
Edit : on another note, not all my apps are showing up in the my apps section of the market. I am rooted, and have tried the market doctor in titanium, and can't seem to fix it.
I can't figure this out either! I asked on twitter and the reply I got was "carefully" lol

You're not missing anything. It's not available via the market app on any tablets at this time. You will have to do it via your desktop browser, your phone, or as a workaround, set the default browser on the tablet, to 'desktop' mode.
Can't filter for honeycomb apps... Can't rate honeycomb apps from your tablet....
It almost seems like Google is actively trying to make the marketplace suck for tablet users. Either that or they are trying to obscure the generally crappy offerings for honeycomb that are available.
Thanks for the replies. It's pretty ridiculous you can't do this. I was hoping that I would be able to write a longer review like you can on the website. On my phone a review has to be very short, like text message length.
Hi all, I have read a lot about missing apps in the market, but it seams to me that there is an unusually high number missing from my rooted Kindle....
Could someone please confirm if the following apps are also missing from their market?
Be Weather
Weather Bug
Go Launcher EX
Dolphin Browser HD
Weight Watchers Mobile (the official app)
I see themes for a lot of these, but not the main apps.
Also, I tried the fix.apk file that I have used on my phone, but it didn't get me what I was hoping for. Thanks
Don't have a fire yet, but can confirm from a few other places that these were removed from the Amazon marketplace for the Fire. You can still sideload them though. Seems this was done a few days ago once everyone started posting that this was a way to get rid of the carousel.
I noticed that, too. There's obviously some sort of filtering going on.

Not on mine either. Perhaps since the Fire isn't one the "compatible" list they are not even available to download.

Thanks everyone sounds like the market is also very limited.

i have go launcher ex and dolphin hd running right now. I did sideload them, i just did it when i was sideloading all the google apps and such. You might do some apk searches on the web. Otherwise it may take a couple weeks for them to be available for the fire (widgetlocker has already updated for the fire, for example).
The Android Market does not contain all of the available apps. It only contains apps that are compatible for your device. So if you have a Kindle Fire it will only show you apps they are compatible with the KFire. That does not mean that you cannot sideload those apps from the Internet.
But, not all sideloaded apps work though.

When I first got my Kindle, I was able to download Go Launcher Ex from the App Store, then when I had a friend get it, it was gone. Ended up sideloading it, but yes, there appears to be a filter.
It really would be quite awesome if there was a way to override this filtering in the android market for those that are rooted. I would love to take my chances.
Google Voice App Receives, but no way to send texts
I read through all FOUR pages of the Kindle Fire forum but did not see anything about this.
I have successfully installed (side loaded) Google Market and Maps on a rooted Fire. I also installed Google Voice (all apk's from my EVO).
GV runs and displays incoming texts, but there is no way to write or send a text. When you click on a text conversation, it opens but there is no text box to write in.
Clicking menu does not give a "compose" option.
Since GV sends texts over the Internet, I am puzzled why this does not work.
I downloaded another texting app and that one does work, but it gives you yet another "phone" number, which just confuses my contacts (they dont know who is texting them).
Anyone got GV working?
today I downloaded this app it was free. I uninstalled by accident and now can't find in the market..anyone have it??

have you tried looking on market.android.com? It should show you any recent purchases under my account or you can also look under my library too and see if you can find it there too.
this was a free app. how can I see history using the old market app?
ok. I see where you meant. the app is not showing anywhere...sucks

When I start it ti's giving me an error and does nothing. How can I fix that?
Try googling the app name to see if someone has the apk hosted. Usually works for me when the crap market search engine fails to locate apps I've downloaded and used many times in the past.

Yes, just long press on the provider you would fake, choose your option,
Then, kill market (with taskkiller or long press back button or press 1 000 000 times the back button til the home screan appears) then open market again and now your specific privider is faked!

Many thanks for this. Moving back overseas, and this will allow me to keep my apps updated. Thanks again.
Thanks for this. Ive been wondering why all the market enablers disappeared.
cant get to work
ive tried it and all i get is t-mobile stuff still. I'm running arhd 2.2.1 which is based on the leaked ics build i believe. I've changed it through the app to different providers and it doesn't do much.
this app looks almost exactly like this one: Market Enabler. From what I saw, the only difference was the icon. It has the exact same markets to choose from.
This is their webpage: Market Enabler webpage. It's minimal, and pretty bare bones.
Other useful information:
Wiki Mobile Network Codes. This gives a list of codes for carriers world wide which can be used in the "set custom"
If this is the same app, then key information to know:

Do I need to donate to get this working?
No, definitly not.
A donate is an appriciation to the developer/s but it's not the same as buying a software.
In case of MarketEnabler, a donate will get you a donate key that removes ads from the application and adds some beta functions that are still in testing.
I donated trough PayPal but haven't received the donate key
Please look into your SPAM folder as it is an automated script that sends you the key.
If you don't get an answer after 24 hours, please email me at [email protected].
I only get "we have a problem houston "
Are you sure that you have a working su binary and busybox (or at least the killall command) installed and granted root rights to MarketEnabler when it got requested?
Preconditions
#1 root
To be able to change the systems runtime configuration (what MarketEnabler does) you will need access as a root user to the system.
MarketEnabler expects that you will have a file called "su" on your system (and in the global path) that will open a root shell.
#2 busybox
The commands that are used, are not always part of the Android system.
Most rooted phones have busybox on board as it's common to install it during the rooting process or included in most custom roms.
If you don't have busybox, I recommend using the busybox installer from stericson on the market.

Make sure you kill Google Play Store from "Manage Apps > All" first.
Alternatively, you can do it manually:
1. Kill Google Play Store from "Manage Apps > All".
2. Go to MarketEnabler, under "Set custom" tab, input that specific country market code you wanted to visit.
3. Select "Set to this values".
4. Go to Google Play Store.
5. Enjoy!
or try this another MarketEnabler (previously MarketEnabler Codes) app: https://plus.google.com/110853353138524936530/posts
