Websites that need flash with a green arrow? - G Tablet General

I have Vegan 5.1 and downloaded Adobe flash and every website i go to has a blank box with a green arrow in the box. Now when I click on the green arrow the video appears and I can play it and get sound....just wondering if there is a way that the videos or even some of the other stuff on the websites that require flash will just load normally with the page? of will i always have to click on that green arrow? not that it is a big deal to be honest just didn't know if I did something wrong or if it could be added in the next vegan update
thanks in advance

Which browser? That usually means the browser is configured for "on-demand" flash.

While you are in the settings you might also want to set the user agent as desktop or something similar so it loads the normal webpages. It is probably set to Android and that will make it load mostly mobile sites.

How do you get the settings to stick after a reboot? Trying to change the brightness of the keys on the bottom.
Edit: Found the answer from a kernel thread I posted in. Thought I would share here:
My lights were on full, all the time the screen was on. Internet, games, whatever. The tip from snoleopard9 appears to have fixed my issue.
I found this free app on the market for those that want the full name: LG 2X/G2X Touch Key Brightness
Thanks for the help.
whenever I entered the code 1809#*999# it says com.android.process.acore FC

So back to op's question....
What do you chose in the "change_uastring" menu?
Type in secret menu
Browser utility>change uastring
I see list of phone/browser types but which one is the desktop version. What do you check to make the defualt browser open in a desktop version
Thanks
And please I already know about typing "about:debug" that's not what the op was asking. You don't need the hidden menu to do that from the browser ...
"If Satan lived in heaven he'd be me.... "

why the hidden menu didn't appear after i had typed 1809#*999*?

That app is not free? It is $1.50... ridiculous. Maybe the dev change it after he saw your post? lol. There is another though, LG Optimus 2x touch key lights - That one is free, and is exactly the same as the $1.50 app. Plus, it has a "Thanks" to the XDA community. That's the one I want.
ANYWAYS..... if we could stay on topic and answer the original OP's question..
Seriously i cant believe no one knows the answer to this. THERE HAS to be a way of permanantly setting the defualt browser to open in desktop view and making and keeping it that way after a reboot or exit of browser. entering about:debug into the broswer, has nothing to do with this question unless you can tell me how to make it a perma fix. WE are talking abt making this a perma fix through the hidden menu or any toher hack.
ANYONE?????
i did some poking around, it looks like your only option is to try another browser like dolphin. If that's not an option, there's nothing you can do..
I recommend Skyfire (you can change UI on the fly) or Opera Mobile 11 if you want another browser engine.
i dialed in the code and no menu appeared for me i running cm7.1 nightly 201. Does that make any difference?

You can do it through the hidden menu, but it does cause some flash issues.
Just click on "browser utility", then "change UA string" then select mozilla. :/

*FIX* Get your computer to see MT as Mass Storage

Thanks to idbl_fanatic, over at Android Forums for finding this!
1. Install Anycut from the android market (it's free)
2. Open Anycut and select "New Shortcut"
3. Now click Activity
4. Scroll down the list of activities until you see "Select COM Port Mode" and click it. Just hit ok to accept the default name
5. You will see a "shortcut created" notification. Go back to your homescreen and look for the new shortcut
6. Once you click the new shortcut you'll see three radio buttons. Simply change to Mass Storage

I actually didn't find this, someone else had posted it on one of the many forums I go to, I just passed it along.
Regardless, it is working flawlessly!
I could cry actually, because I was so scared that my Triumph had a defect, but it actually turned out to be fixable!
I just click on the "turn on usb mass storage" (or something like that) button. Was that not working or something? Downloading an app to do the same thing seems like a bit of overkill to me.

Sometime the TRIUMPH don't see that it is plugged in to the PC, and nothing you can do will fix it.
Ah, that makes sense then. I was curious why you had to do all that, and know I know.
Yeah, this is for those whose PC would not pick up the phone for USB transferring. Keep this in mind as some people have reported the USB working one day, then the next day it won't pick up.

Just wanted to mention that if you're using Launcher Pro or other non stock launchers, you can already create shortcuts without having to install another app. Otherwise, great tip.

Any luck finding which app it goes to, though? On ADW, they don't list everything all jumbled together... they have it spread out in quite a few little submenus.
had no idea there was an issue with this. Mine has taken a wile a few times but never not recognized at all

I don't know about ADW but on launcher pro, you just long press on an empty area of your home screen and select Shortcuts from the long press menu. I can only assume you would do the same thing in adw but I could be wrong.

Today I was having an issue with my phone plugging in to my computer, and this little guide saved my butt. Strangely it's been working on and off just fine, and even when it doesn't "connect" PDANet still sees it has appeared. But thanks to this guide it's now working as a pseudo-modem AND a USB device both. Kudos.

It should be under add>Shortcuts > Activities> Hidden Menu. The process for ADW is very similar.

How do I stop Soundhound from opening when I hold the search button?

When I hold down the search hardware key it opens Soundhound, and I don't want that. It used to open a "complete action using" window and let me choose between Soundhoud and other apps. How do I unmap the search key from Soundhound so I can map it to Google Search? BTW..I'm using QuikWiz 1.0.3.
Well you can do that in either setting or launcher setting depending on what you are running.

How exactly? I only have regular settings, and I've already gone through all options. I even tried clearing Soundhound's application data and it still isn't fixed.
easiest way is to uninstall soundhound and long press the search button and set what ever you want.

Desktop View of Websites in Stock Browser

I'm sorry if this question is already asked, I've searched this forum, but couldn't find it.
My question is, is there any way/settings through which we can make stock browser to automatically load Desktop View of websites when we open them? I've checked stock browser's settings, but couldn't find anything related to this
Does anyone have idea about it?
Thanks in advance
Regards
"Open the Android web browser. In the address bar enter 'about:debug' where you would normally enter a URL and hit enter or Go. Be sure to erase the 'http://www.' that the browser likes to leave in the address bar for you. No page will load and you may or may not get a pop-up message 'Debug mode'. But if you now go to Menu > More > Settings in the browser and scroll to the bottom of the list, you should see a new group of options under the 'Debug' heading. The bottom setting is 'UAString' and if selected will give you the option of enabling your browser to identify itself as Android, Desktop or iPhone. Results after making this switch have been mixed, but go ahead and give it a try if you have a need to. I'm not sure what the other options do, so use at your own risk."

Pretty interesting. But there is no such option. I used to type: 'about:useragent' and then there is a pop up screen to switch between Desktop, Android, etc..

Thanks for your reply. I've tried it and a new group of settings "Debug" does appear. But still unfortunately there's apparently no option of "UAString" in it
The last option is some "MultiWin3D", which is unchecked.

But will I've to do every time I open the stock browser or is this setting (Desktop View) has become a default setting?

Yeah it is working, but still when I open engadget, it is open in mobile view
But working with many other websites (which I regularly use).
And one more thing which I've noticed, that every time I open the stock browser, I've to set the default view to "Desktop" by going to about:useragent. It would have been even better if the browser had remembered this setting (like it is in dolphin browser).
I made mod with changed User Agent permament (ofc we can use about:useragent to change for android UA (ex. Galaxy S)
Download for:
HoloBean
Kyrillos' ROM
stock
I use UA from Chrome
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/24.0.1312.56 Safari/537.17
Thanks again.
But what will these softwares do? I am not an expert with android, so excuse me for my ignorance about it.
Actually when i change the useragent to desktop, it works fine, open desktop view of websites. But when i close the browser and open it again after sometime, I need to change the UA again, otherwise it opens the mobile view of websites.

But my phone is not rooted.
Anyway i think i shd wait for the JB update to this phone, JB' stock browser might give this option of viewing the desktop version, and that setting remain there permanent.

If your using the Gmail app I don't think this can be changed but you can always press the three dots and it will let you open it in chrome. Alternatively, you can use the Sony mail app as this takes you to the web browser always.
If your trying to change this in more apps than the mail app then I'm unsure of this.
Apparently you can change the setting in chrome but I have yet to find that. Will have a look now
I dont use the gmail app and use aqua mail. This defaults to using your browser of choice, when opening links.
deactivate the system app 'setup wizard' after this pop ups will open in default browser
