Can someone please tell me, what would be the worst case scenario if I use extended battery from an ebay seller from china?
OK, I know it can blow up. But beside that. What else can go wrong?
I am using HTC Desire HD, which we all know the battery if just a pice of garbage. I have bought a pack of item for HD and there were also two 1500mAh batteries included.
If I use the external battery charger and leave it to charge over night and it does not blow up, does that mean, that the battery wold do just fine in the phone?
I presume mAh does not have any effect on the phone itself? Or does it?
What would happen with battery stats? How would that behave if I swap the batteries. When one depletes I change it for a full one and so on?
Any other battery issues I should be aware of?

I bought 2 x aftermarket 1600mah batteries from eBay with a charger to charge them directly.
I don't have high hopes but I figured for £10 I couldn't really go wrong.
So I charged one of the new batteries in the supplied charger overnight and tried it out this morning. At first boot, my Desire HD said the battery was empty and to connect the charger. If I leave it the phone shuts down after 20 seconds. I did connect the charger and and then instantly the phone said the battery was 99% full. After I disconnected the charger the phone has run all day on one of these ebay batteries, with life being comparable to the stock battery.
My question is, is this some kind of software glitch? Or a problem with the charger pergaps? I am using Cyanogenmod 7 (Gingerbread). Anyone else seen this issue?
I'd like the phone to report the correct power level when I swap the battery, so that it doesn't shut down automatically, and can be used when Im away from a charger.

I have the same issue with what sounds like the same batteries and charger running cm6. The problem isn't there when I use the stock rom. Think it's a cm issue. I don't know of a fix except that sometimes wiping battery stats before booting sorts it out. Good luck and if you find a fix, please post.

Not a fix, just my workaround:
I charge the phone with the unofficial 1600mah battery overnight, and run it all day until it runs out. Then I switch to the official HTC battery, which lasts me all evening.
For example I went to a wedding Saturday, and taking pictures/playing Angry Birds during the boring bits, the two batteries easily lasted the whole day. I don't think the 1600mah battery is any better than stock though. Wouldn't say it's worse mind.
I think the CM7 builds have issues around battery life with WIFI/Bluetooth and Cell standby. From what i can see.
I'll let you know if I find a fix though!
and I don't remember where, but I read somewhere, some time ago, that when you get a new battery, you should fully charge, and fully discharge the battery a few times.. Is this a good idea? does it help the battery?
are there any tips, like doing a complete cycle every so often?
Also, well, I got this on Amazon so I'm hoping it really is brand new. The brand new batteries are supposed to be dead, not charged, right?
Lithium ion batteries are never shipped "dead", bad things can happen (read up on it). So when you buy a lithium ion battery it always has a charge on it. They also don't have a "memory" like older batteries do so just use it normally. When i got my Naztech battery it was fully charged!
Ouch.. So does that mean my battery isn't going to be as good as an OEM battery? It looks like it's a legit samsung battery, it has the same model #
Anyway I charged it up fully, then I had to send in my phone to Samsung, so I took it out. When it gets back I'll see how my battery life is.
Li-ion batteries aren't supposed to have a memory, however I read a lot of good articles that argue no batteries have memory. However that being said, I've had the best luck out of cycling batteries like that. We have 7 Samsung batteries for our Fascinates, and always just run them down and swap to the next battery. Whenever I get a new one I charge it up, then run it down a few times.
I always charge them, they do come partially charged, but usually not 100%.
Any battery "woes" of memory is all placebo affect much of the time. Unless the phone doesn't get a balanced charge it will have no memory. But I think these batteries are one cell so you don't have to worry about it.

you can get chargers, like just a wall charger that you can drop a battery or two in and it'll charge without the phone.

I've heard it's capacity isn't what's advertised and that it's best to go for the Anker battery.

That looks suspiciously a lot like Chichitec charger/battery with a different sticker. Almost definitely not 2300mah, it would have to be way thicker for that.
I'd go with Anker if you want cheap but OK. If you want even cheaper and OK, than go for Chichitec
Both are a little better than stock, and it's always great to have a spare battery at hand.

Hi i bought a used sensation of ebay from a reputable seller and it arrived the other day. The two main problems i've been having is also the battery taking long to charge and the heating issue.
Firstly im not sure if the heating issue occurs on stock rom as i was not on it very long but on any custom JB rom the Bottom part of the phone gets very hot very quickly. I used a battery monitor and it tells me its the battery temp that's going up but when i pop out the back cover it seems to be coming from right at the bottom under where the micro sd card is. However i think i have kind of solved this by flashing the Inspiration 1.01 ICS 4.04 rom with bricked Kernel. Now the phone only reaches a max of abut 40.5 degrees and the heat is spread around the whole back case rather than one spot.
Secondly the battery seems to be the big problem here. The phone didnt come with a charger but it did come with a USB cable to charge with. The problem is when i plug it into charge it takes long time to charge up. I used a battery monitoring app and the results are quite weird. When i plug it into charge it starts of drawing about 300ma of charge but after a while especially when it gets to around 30% battery the amount of power the battery is absorbing is around 70ma some times even as low as 40.
I have tried this with a Motorola charger as-well which is from a Motorola defy mini which had a higher Mah battery and the same thing happens.
Bearing in mind its a used phone the battery is probably quite old shall i try my luck with a new official replacement HTC battery or shall i try a new HTC Charger first?
Quick Update:
i took out the battery and then put it back in again and turned on the device and now the phone is reporting 65% when it was only at 47% before i turned it off. Secondly onthe battery contacts there seems to be a darker colour of gold where the pins actually meet which looks like a burnt contact but im not too sure.
I highly suggest you buy an Anker battery instead of HTC official one. If you've been loading battery with USB cable from another device (PC for example); it will load slowly!
About the battery percentage problem; I think this is a known problem on HTC Devices. It should show pretty accurately after a little while after restart.
I myself have the original battery, and I have the darker marks there too. Don't worry about those.. Because all you need is the Anker 1900mAh.
Thanks for your suggestion i have done a bit of research on the anker battery and it definitely seems like a must have not only for the better battery life but it apparently runs alot cooler than the stock battery aswell. Only £21 for a pack of 2 and a travel charger on amazon aswell!
Also shall i get a HTC charger or should i be fine with the Anker travel charger?

Hi,
I replaced my Z5c original stock battery with one from eBay. The old stock battery was discharging in about 2 hours so I assumed it needed replacing.
However, the 'new' battery also discharges very fast when the phone is just idling, maybe 6 hours. Is it possible the replacement battery is not 'new' like the ebay seller stated, or perhaps just poor quality? Or maybe there is an issue with some other part of my Z5c hardware?
The phone would feel very hot to touch using the old battery, but now i have repalced it, it doesnt. There was no battery swelling obviously visible on the old battery either.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks
