[Q] G Tab Rookie - G Tablet General

I got my G Tab today....
Prior to its delivery I did lots of reading here to learn about its capabilities and how to do installs etc... Thanks to all of you that are developing ROMs, etc... to help make it better.
For now my main issues are
(1) Wifi dropping
(2) bluetooth clipping
(3) difficulty moving files on to my MicroSD
(4) Force Close Error Message
I installed Clockwork Mod internal (8 I think) and TnT Lite 3.1 and patch 3.1.4 because it seemed like most users on this site said it was the most stable..
My question is, am I missing a patch or should I be using another Rom to get Bluetooth and WiFi to work without issue?
Is there an easy way to see the MicroSD card when I am connected to the G Tab via USB so I can transfer files directly?
Should I install another ROM in order to avoid the "FORCE CLOSE" error message?
Thanks again for all that hard work.

Help needed! - Update: Small Development!!

Hi All,
After my recent antics with trying to enable the G-Sensor in my XDA Flint I appear to have messed up some system files and am suffering from crashes and illeagal operations etc!
This isn't a problem as I will just hard reset my device! But I do want to copy the clean build (Is this a ROM dump)from my device so that I can possibly look at flashing to a Michyprima ROM, Keeping the stock o2 ROM as a backup.
I don't know where to start with a ROM dump! I found a thread in the Kaiser forum but it may have well been written in martian! I am at a total loss with it! It made no sense whatsoever to me!(Noobs eh?)
Will a ROM dump leave me with something that I can simply re-flash back to should the device need to go back under warranty?
Many Many Thanks
Hi again all!
I have had a slight development with my device now!
It appear that my XDA flint is equipped with the G Sensor/Acceleromter hardware! After all my fiddling with dll files and registry entries it partially works!
I was using IE and noticed the page scrolling by itself! Thats when i realised that tilting the device allowed me to scroll the website!
I have no idea what I did that allowed this something worked!
Still no joy with the G-Sensor application (either 1.5 or 1.7) It still throws up the error - Unable to connect to G Sensor (3)

WM 6.5 ROM Expired. Urgent help needed!

Hi Guys,
I am in a serious fix ! I downloaded WM 6.5 ROM from this site about 3 months ago & installed it on my HTC Touch Pro. It worked like a charm...until this Morning. It now says " This concludes the beta test of this software release." etc....I can't connect to my phone via USB(activesync), thus I can't reload any Software onto it. I tried to Hard Reset...but the phone just restarts & goes back to this message...Is there any way of getting a ROM installed on this phone ? Any help will be greatly appreciated !
Thanks~
do you have an sd card if so have you tryed that method ?
Haha, no i don't have an SD card, but i solved my problem. I went to bootlog.. somehow XD. I tried many different methods, but i eventually found one that worked. Then i just Installed a new ROM. Problem solved ^^.
same problem here - would be nice if developers mention that their software expires
will now try to flash new rom too
I have the same issue - I have an Acer neotouch and is now bricked due to expiration of windows. How do I flash another rom or re-load factoy rom? I cannot get my phone to connect to my PC.
same problem!
I have the same problem, this night @ 00:00 it expired.
I have very valuable text files in my phone memory, really sucks.
I really need this back for my job.. Has anyone an idea of recovering the data without flashing a new rom?
And if i flash a new rom, i suppose all data @ phone memory will be lost?
Greatings Bouke
I also have this problem. It seems pretty widespread
That's because it's May 1st everywhere, lol.
This is why you didn't want to flash (or cook) a rom with the beta version of Office 2010. Now, there's a non-time-bombed version available, and you'll need to upgrade to it. A savvy flasher will also always advance the date on a build by a few years immediately after flashing, just to see if there is a time-bomb built in. There's no one to blame but yourself if you didn't do it.
Thats great Farmer Ted and very smug of you...however we may not all be as experienced as you and are looking for a way to resolve this issue.
ROM expired
Can we please get the steps to over come this error.
Please.....Please.....Please....

Don't get mad at me. The moment you decide to flash a custom rom to your phone, you have to take responsibility for anything and everything that happens to it. Custom roms don't come with warranties. This isn't the first time that raphael roms have expired due to time-bombs. Almost all of Monx's roms went kaplooey over a year ago. Everyone knew that office mobile 2010 was beta (and if you didn't, it's your fault). It says so right on the download on windows marketplace, and it says it would expire in the spring of 2010. A month ago, many users received messages that their roms would expire in 30 days, and there were threads about it all over the place. It shouldn't be a surprise that the early rom builds that came out with it had a hard expiration date. The problem is that the time-bomb in the early builds was in the Office package, which no one knows how to remove, whereas in the more recent builds the time-bomb is in shell, which is easily patched.
Solution that worked:
Step 1. Turn Off your phone
Step 2. Turn on keeping the Power On button + Low Volume Key pressed untill you see a tricolor display showing current ROM details
Step 3. Connect the phone to PC using USB and flash using any ROM of your choice
Note: This will erase all the data on the phone.
Anyone found a way to backup the data on the phone?
It will run some programs (Sense, some services, some apps accessible via Sense - all accessible for short times by locking, then unlocking the phone) but not connect with Activesync.
Autostart from SD does not seem to work (don't have a known working app to compare)
All I'm missing now is a way to access the internal storage.
Any ideas?
can u still add app shortcuts to sense?

Can anyone tell me how to get the download to upgrade my 6.1 to 6.5 on my touch pro. Thanks
WM 6.5 ROM expired
Hi Everybody,
I succeeded to flash my Samsung Omnia keeping my data under /My Storage. But all the other data lost. Here is what I have done:
1. Hard Reset: date will be set back to 20080101 (data under My Documents will be lost)
2. Flash new ROM using Samsung Modem Driver. I suggest to use ROMs from pdafanclub.com
3. I tried to restore my data/settings using Spb Backup, but many applications did not worked because of the new ROM, and my device froze continuously.
Good luck!

[Q] Accessories seem to malfunction after CM10 on GT 10.1

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I installed the main new CM10 ROM, as recently announced, and although I had some problems, it now works fine. However, as I was trying to transfer a ZIP file that I did not properly transfer the first time, I discovered that the card reader does not seem to be detected at all when I connect it to the tablet. Also, the tablet, which uses the same port seems to be only partially working. For example, the Home and Back keys do not seem to work at all, although the equivalent buttons on the display seem to be OK.
Are there other things I should do once I have the new ROM installed ? I was trying to get the Google Apps ZIP file tr-transferred to the internal /sdcard partition so I can install all those goodies.
Try to ask the developer of the rom, he/she has the answers. Or maybe revert to stock rom if you really need to those functions.

[Q] Help - Rooting - LG Optimus L9 - Battery level error

I bought LG Optimus L9 T-Mobile recently thinking Android is open and helps me modify things. It runs 4.1.2 v. p769-20d. To my surprise I found that it has only about 2 GB available, and it does not allow to install some apps complaining about space availability. Thinking I can solve this by adding microSD card, I added 16 GB card, but it does not use the card to install apps! I found apps2sd app, but there is no way to move apps to the SD card. Upon further research it was found that the latest Android update does not allow to use sd card space. This led me to try to root the phone. I followed the guide at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465, everything went well until step 11 where I got an error - ""Insufficient battery level to proceed". I see one more user has also asked for the same error problem (see page 34 on the same thread -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465&page=34). I sincerely appreciate all and any help, thanks in advance. - Z
I got past that point by doing the following:
master reset
fiddling with the wonky buttons until I got to the main screen. I bypassed the google sign-on etc because that would be overwhelming
settings-->dev options-->enabled usb debugging
connected usb cable-->chose LG Software as connection type
flashed kdz while phone was still powered on

[Q] To root or not to root for update

Hi
I have a Samsung Galaxy GT-I5801 with me for past couple of years.
Its current OS spec are:
Firmware version- 2.2
Baseband version- I5801DDJP2
Kernel version- 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2
Build Number- FROYO.DDJP6
My phone has become kind of slow, like for even basic tasks like opening call log or messaging app, it takes good 10-15 seconds. Sometimes it even goes unresponsive when trying to end a call thus causing call to continue thus carrier balance reduction. There are no 3rd party apps installed on it. Even updating the pre-installed apps gives the message of memory being low.
Now my query is:
Will flashing it to a custom ROM will improve its working at least in the basic areas of call and texting?
If so, then which is the most suitable custom ROM?
Is it necessary to root the phone before flashing it ?
Which tool is best/easiest for said purposes?
Please go easy on me, I've been out of the IT and tech game since past 1 year and bit rusty on these things

I would say yes. I don't know what is causing the freezes, but (beside that this could also be a hardware problem) a custom ROM should fix that.
Any GB-based ROM should do a fine job. There are also Froyo-based ROMs for our device. The CM7.2 build by marcellusbe does a very good job.
Nope. If you flash via Odin (Flash-Software for Windows) you just need a usb-connection. If you flash it via recovery, you may need to flash a custom recovery first.

I tried SuperOneClick but it failed to even detect my phone, let alone root. Tried rooting directly through phone by installing z4root on it. It too failed to root my device, just a blue screen saying "Running Exploit" with z4mod logo kept on displaying for 10-15 minutes, after which phone switched off itself. Had to power it back on myself. Tried it couple of times more but no success.
So now if I use Odin to directly flash the firmware to a modded one, would it work, considering the fact that the phone hasn't been rooted. More importantly, would it be wise to do so? Don't want to hard brick the device as its my backup device after my Xperia SP took a plunge in the water and now fails to even boot, just vibrates thrice and that's it.
Update:
Took a leap of faith with Odin and Cyanogen & now the device is rockin' like a grandma with a new hip replacement Lags no more, operation is smooth, but a 2nd minor problem has cropped up.
It now refuses to install any app from Play Store citing Insufficient Space. I changed the default installation space to external but still the problem persists.
Update 2:
For my above mentioned problem, looks like something to do with Gapps but I don't know what it is and what to do about it. Moreover as today I tried to make calls or send messages, I found out I'm unable to do so. The dialler dials after good 2-3 minutes of pressing/selecting the dial option for a number while message inbox is empty but it refuses the receive any sms citing Inbox is full. I thought just flashing the firmware should do the trick but looks like it just was the tip of the iceberg.
You can find the gapps (Google Apps - like Play Store, Gmail, ...) here:
http://goo.im/gapps/
Assuming you're on Gingerbread (CM 7.x) it's this package: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Put this zip-file on your SD card, power off your phone and/or reboot to recovery. Navigate to "Select zip from sd card" -> select your gapps.zip and flash. Then "wipe cache" and "wipe dalvik cache" anywhere in the submenus Just to make sure the gapps get recognized correctly.
Another trick for expanding the internal storage is Link2SD. You need a 2-partition sd-card for this. 1. partition with FAT and 2. one with ext2/3/4
Link2SD will mount this second partition to the internal storage to expand your storage for apps and other system stuff.
You know... Getting the most of a half-dead low-end device needs a bit of geekiness
bad zip
Well I selected erase all data option in the phone which booted it into recovery mode. Here I cleared the cache and the user data. When I tried to install zip file from sd card it gave the following error message, "Can't open /sdcard/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip (bad) Installation Aborted"
What seems to be the problem now?
Update:
Tried again and this time it worked. Now everything is running fine. Thanks a ton for the help mate, can't express my gratitude through words.
I do want to ask one thing here.
If I install this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803180, will the JB experience be coupled with performance drop ?
Honestly Cyanogen has turned me into a junkie, now I want to try on the new but stable mods. Moreover as my Xperia SP is now out of warranty, I'm planning to get it fixed and then root and flash it too!
