D2g sbf has arrived! - Droid 2 Global General

My droid world just posted the d2g sbf on twitter!

That's GREAT to hear!!
Been waiting for this...

My phone is stuck at the droid 2 bloot splash. Does anyone know how to fix? I'm freaking out here D:

Try to bootstrap it into open recovery and restore the backup you've made (did you?)
If no backup - use the SBF and flash it to original. Make sure battery is full and you use the latest RSDlite an drivers supplied with the SBF.
Edit: I assume you've made changes in /system or flashed custom ROM. If you have not touched anything, try a battery pull (for at least 5 seconds). If you have installed bootstrap recovery - try to delete caches and eventually factory reset. If nothing of above works - do the SBF flashing (last resort).
Another edit: I don't think you chose the right thread to post your problem. Check General section - you will find many threads similar to yours. OP, sorry for the hijack!

Sorry! I was able to fix it, thank you for your quick reply. I'm going to delete my post to clean up the thread. Sorry again : )

Team black hat stikes again love these guys for their contributions for the community, so glad I donated

Bunch of scam artists selling bootleg leaks if you ask me...

Sweet, I was looking for this. Too bad I returned my phone to Verizon yesterday. They gave me a brand new phone since it was less than a month old.

I have a quick question, I have the msm6600 drivers, but I don't know what to do with them, can someone enlighten me?

I am not new to android but definately new to the Motorolla´s android phones.
Why are people excited about the release of the SBF? What is is useful for?
I am guessing it is needed for rooting? or is it actually so one can cook custom roms?

The SBF is essentially the file that Motorola clones onto every phone when it leaves the factory. With this file and RSDLite 4.9, you can save your phone from just about any software woe you can think of, in under 15 minutes. I've done it 8 or 9 times with no problems.

No Power
I just finished flashing D2G SBF, and I have no power, I have done a battery pull, and no luck. when I plug the charger or usb in the white light turns on. Hopefully someone can enlighten me on this issue.

when you flashed .sbf what percent was your battery at? If your battery dies before the .sbf is fully flashed....not good. if firmware didn't fully load your phone will not charge. Always make sure battery is above 80 before going forward. If it was just a bad flash and your battery has power try getting into bootloader (both volume keys and power buttons simultaneously) again and re flash sbf. If no power find a friend and charge your battery in their phone and try again.

Add back factory fonts?

I found a system dump of stock charge and found the fonts and know I need to use Root Explorer to put in the correct folder. I just want the 3 fonts you can change to in the display settings. When I look at the stock fonts folder it list a alot of them. Am I not looking in the right folder for the fonts?
If you're checking /system/fonts you're in the right place. =) The reason there are more than three is because the phone uses variations of the same font for headings and such (bold, italicized, etc.)
Thanks I loaded a different Rom which turns out to be laggy and battery sucks. So if I go back I atleast know I had the right fonts folder to transfer them.

[EP3HA][Stock][ODIN] EP3HA Full & Debloated Deodexed (10/9/11)
Been through several the last couple of days and really liked EP1F. Might have to go back to it.
If you're up for something new. Id give GC fe 2.0 a try with the ep1w radios. Its been great for me. But it is all personal preference. just a suggestion.
And you could try re-callibrating your battery too. It would help with the battery life regardless of rom.

Ok whats GC fe 2.0? (gummy charged)
I just went into clockwork and deleted stats. Gonna let it discharge and then charge. That's how you do it right? I still forget how to do stuff. I came from BB, had the Thunderbolt which was z4root or oneclick lol. All the same I guess just different steps. I stuck with Odin for the start.
Yes it is. =) It's kind of a long read, but you should really take a look at this thread over on rootzwiki:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?4643-HOW-TO-quot-Clean-quot-install-GummyCharged-FE-2.0&
It does a good job of explaining almost everything you need to know about flashing roms and how to do it; and is specifically tailored to fe 2.0. You should be able to skip to step three on the thread, but feel free to read the entire thing if you like. It also shows you how to re-calibrate your battery and mentions other tweaks you could make as well. =) If that's too boring, feel free to ask some questions and i'll try to answer them the best I can.
Cool Ill give it a read. I read before and it explained it all but still get screwed up with kernel and radio. Forget we have 2 radio's. I used to use Clockwork all the time dont know why I did want to use it now. Will check that out and what do you think about Humble 4.22? Dang I ask alot of questions. It says to do 4.2 then 4.22 but says 4.2 to do it Odin. Thought you couldnt do .zip files? I downloaded it so do I just rename it? Also to use Odin I never had luck keeping battery in to get to download mode, always just used cable.
Well we have a lot of radios, but the newest is the E3PH. Humble 4.22 looks like a great ROM, I personally haven't tried it because I like where I'm at. But give it a try, a lot of people seem to like it. To get on it you need to:
1. place the humble 4.22 on your sdcard.
2. unzip the humble 4.2 odin you downloaded and flash that.
Side note: I always remove my battery to get the phone into download mode, then i make sure to put it back in before i begin to flash. I also remove my sim card just to be safe.
3. Boot your phone up once to make sure everything's alright. Turn it back off and charge to 100%.
4. Go into CWM; wipe cache, dalvik, and data (just to be safe) and also wipe your battery stats (if you charged your phone completely).
5. install the humble 4.22 zip you placed on your sdcard and you should be ready to go.
6. Enjoy restoring all your apps. haha.
Thanks for your help. If I dont like what Im on now think I will try Humble and then GC. Did the quick read part and will go back but it explains alot.

[Q] So confused...

I have completely screwed my phone. I have rooted and ROM'ed at least 5 Android phones in the past.
This one is simply ridiculous.
I have used ODIN and had no problems. Now when I flashed my rom through CWM it just flashes a Samsung screen.
I have redone everything 10 times I am doing everything correctly.
I have tried different ROMs different kernels, same thing every time.
I am lost, and need help PLEASE!
Did you flash a pit file? Repartitioning usually does the trick.

Now that I've wiped my phone, how do I disable the voodoo lagfix without being able to do anything on the phone so I can install a ROM? This doesn't make sense to me.

No, you just do not know what your doing, simple as that. Tons of people here and elsewhere have no problems. You haven't listed what roms and kernels you are trying. My guess is either using froyo rom with GB kernel or not using odin right, it's pretty easy to use but also easy to get wrong, I suggest actually taking some time to learn what to do and what everything is. It's evident you are very impatient by your constant posts in this thread and their content which implies you didn't take the proper time to research what you are doing and how it all works. With some actual useful information like rom and kernel we could probably help
I've been researching this phone and the tools for a week now, and started this process at 1PM, so no im not impatient.
This phone is a piece. It was bad when it came out and it still is crap. I've rooted, Rom'ed and modded every Android phone I've ever had with no issue. Different carriers, different manufacturer's. Never had an issue.
Now, thanks for the lecture Dad, if you have any insight as to why my phone will not boot up after flashing the pit file it would be much appreciated, if not, troll somewheres else.
Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken when you use a pit file you have to Odin a new rom right after. It wipes everything off the partitions.but I've only used a pit one time so may be wrong . The first few times I flashed this phone I had problems but eventually I caught everything that usually causes a problem. And I was just like you, had been flashing evo, incredible and hero for a long time with no problem. But Samsung gave me a headache. But i was stuck in a bootloop and nothing would flash. I ran the pit then flashed a new tar file and she booted up fine
Didn't mean to quote that post. Oops

Ok, so I have tried:
0808_charge_overclock
NAMELESS_Kernel_Cleanup_Script
ROMS i have tried:
Altered BeastAlpha 5
Eclipse_TW4_v1.1
humble50_rc2
At this point it will not charge or boot up into anything so I'm not sure if it's even recoverable right now....where should I even start?

Well since u partitioned with the pit. Ur phone is sitting there with nothing on it. No rom, no kernel, recovery etc. So i know humble 5 wont work cuz it doesn't include a kernel. Humble 4 will however work. It includes a kernel and a recovery .have u did everything in the "Hoe to fix your phone "thread on top of development section?

I've had problems at times getting my phone into download mode. Just gonna toss some stuff out there as I'm sure there are people that know more than me. Is there anyway you can have a charged or extra battery charged? I would hmm uninstall the samsung drivers etc..or atleast re install so your phone is recognized when you plug it in the usb. So you can get your phone into download mode and Odin doesnt see it? Have you followed the directions in the stickys on the Dev page to a T? Im sure you have tried all usb ports, different cable, hell different computer. If you still can't get it back up as many have posted they haven't seen to many totally bricked phones I would love to have something to just play around with. If you dont have insurance and cant get it exchanged let me know. Pretty sure though more people will chime in and get things working though.

[Q] Atrix 2 - Wont load and tried everything!

This is my first post so please bear with me. I searched and searched and tried everything and havent been able to do this.
After rooting atrix 2, went to delete some bloatware...think i accidentally deleted something crucial (as most noobs do I am sure ). Now the phone will not boot fully - it gets stuck at the moto emblem in a kind of boot loop. Just going to give you info about what I have done so far:
Once i boot after a hard reset- in recovery mode tried to install stock rom. Did not work. This is because it said E:Signature did not get verified. ALSO pls note that I do not have cwm or any other custom boot program - so I am unable to see any uncheck the e signature option. I tried to find any rom which might have a signature so i can get that and then put the stock on subsequently - no good so far - of the mere 2-3 roms I found all showed the same problem with E-signature.
I tried to see if I could install cwm. I installed sdk tools on my computer - however I dont know how to install cwm without phone being fully on. Nor can I find a file for the Atrix 2 to do it. The ones I found were the bootstrap ones in .apk files which i dont know how to install on bootlooping phone.
Spoke to some android pros - tried the suggestions above they gave me and nothing so far. I think it was android phone portal that I accidentally removed...
Also note that I am in India and my stock rom is the India version NOT the AT&T/Verizon.
Im a bit scared to use the RSDLite application as I am not proficient with the workings of that software and I dont want to cause any more damage.
Is there any rom for atrix 2 that has a valid E:Signature? Is there any way to bypass this on stock bootloader. I repeat I do NOT have clockwork..Only options are to Reboot, Install package from SD, Format and Clear Cache.
PLEASE HELP...as a last draw will take to the service center...this phone is only 1 month old so I dont want to risk losing warranty (
Have you tried flashing an FXZ as in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Sorry just re-read your post see you are in India and not on AT&T version.
Your best chance is to use RSD Lite to flash the stock Indian ROM. Here is the whole list of known fxz's for the A2. The Indian Retail ROM is "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET."
When you first try to flash, it might error out depending on if you are on the latest update for your firmware. If so, just post the screenshot of the error it gives.
Do you think maybe i can flash it to this at&t firmware and then install cwm and then restore to india stock flash as with cwm i would be able to bypass signature authentication?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Yes, you can do it that way, but it is rather indirect way of doing it. The easiest thing to do is flash the Indian firmware with RSD Lite.
yes i tried that but for some reason rsd lite does not detect my device (yes i have downloaded all relevant drivers).
And now whats worse :
I used moto-fastboot to flash the system files and i got the dreaded low battery fail. As expected this has caused Flash Mode (S) Flash Failure - is this mean its beyond repair by me? If there is a way please let me know.
As of now i have connected it to the wall charger hoping that by tomorrow morning I should have battery for me to try again (I tried again after a half hr or so of battery charging and it didnt work - gave the same error)...
Worst case Ill take it to the service center - would they be able to repair it does anyone think? Is this something they will do? (I understand warranty might be void)...
Please tell me I'm fretting big time...I cant afford a new phone
Oh and I tried with the Indian rom too but didnt work again coz rsdlite didnt register my phone connected despite drivers being installed.
Tutorial videos were hard to find but atrix 4g and original atrix show the boot mode as RSD protocol boot mode....this is not to be found on my atrix 2 boot mode - only thing is AP Fastboot - maybe its the same I do not know...
Also another question - will my phone battery charge when phone is connected to wall charger while the persistent flash failure Fastboot is showing on screen...
If all fails I really hope the service center can repair this...this is possible right?

^^ this is your best bet at a fix. Once your battery is high enough, RSD Lite should detect your phone (I'm assuming that that's why it doesn't show up in RSD but it does in fastboot).
alright seems a bit mechanical...probably a last resort...
are you saying the battery will not charge when connected to the wall charger though?
Also if i do it the way the thread says...how long do i keep it connected?

Its always best to freeze unwanted apps, rather than deleting. Also, if you re-root, there's several roms that are de-bloated already.

Be vary wary of TIB....
It is best to just freeze anything with something like eazy freezy in market, and backup everything with CWM.
TIB was great, maybe 3 years ago before CWM was the thing. It has not innovated and the things it does can break things a lot... I bought it a long time ago, and I have not liked using it in over 2.5 years now. I stopped loading it last year, when it would give erreranous errors about incorrect permissions, and fail to restore things correctly, and using it to remove and "freeze: things tends to cause more FCs than I care to count.....
There are several on the Atrix2 forum that have seen these same issues, and have even been soft bricked by TIB.

I didn't realize there was such issues with TB... I haven't really used it for freezing, but new it held that option to do so. I've used to backup apps so as to not have to re-download my apps each time after flashing new roms. Is there something better for this purpose?
CWM backs up everything, like rom and apps and so forth, right? What about just backing up apps only?

Backing up and restoring apps can be risky when flashing ROMs. You are best to use the option with the market/play to backup what apps you have installed, then when you install a new ROM, and sign into the market/play, it should download and install all the apps you had before. I have had the best success with this.

REALLY? Man, i'm kinda with apex on this one. I have never had any issues with TIB.
Guess the primary reason I like it over the store restore is that it restores all apps. Even the ones not on the store. IE: Cheesecake. It also restores all system settings like text messages, settings, stored passwords. wifi/bluetooth settings. Everything.
However, I trust your wisdom Jim. I will be wary of its usage in the future. Just saying I haven't ran into it... Yet.

How I Unbricked my Nfuse

I've been a regular visitor on XDA. I am a semi-newbie at this point as I have flashed several ROM's successfully so that's my definition of a semi-newbi . I made some newbie mistakes this time around and soft bricked my Nfuse. It took a lot of reading but I managed to resolve the issue. I have appreciated the detailed posts on this site so I wanted to contribute and detail how I unbricked my Nfuse to help others.
I successfully loaded ICS CM9 for Infuse and spent the afternoon setting up all my apps. At the end of it all I decided it was time to back up the ROM via the ROM Manager app like I had done with GB. So I kicked off the backup and then it boot looped a few times and then it would only boot to CWM. I can't tell if doing this caused it or it not (anyone know if a ROM Manager backup should have worked here?)
I decided to start over so I began the Heimdall 'Stock_SGH_I997_UCLB3_Repartition-One-Click.jar' to get back to GB Rom. In the middle of the flash, it barfed and the phone disconnected from USB. Booted the phone and it was now in a state with the phone and computer icons with a yellow triangle ! in-between. I was now in a state where I could not boot to Download Mode.
More research and I found out about Adam Outler's Heimdall 'One Click Unbrick' and it brought it back to life. I was then able to get back into download mode, flash back to stock ('Stock_SGH_I997_UCLB3_Repartition-One-Click.jar' & 'SGH_I997 Entropy Test Kernel-One-Click.jar') from Entropy and got into GB. Then followed up with the CM9 ICS install using 'update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-infuse4g-05272012-UNOFFICIAL-signed.zip' and 'gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip'.
So I am back to ICS (and love it!). I just wanted to express my thanks for all the work others have done to provide us with these tools. I had already ordered a JIG from eBAY and was going to have to wait for it to be delivered to see if it would get me into download mode. I thought I was in a hard brick at one point as I found conflicting posts about what a hard brick really is. I now know a hard brick is dead as a doornail so I was in a soft brick situation. I was also considering sending the phone to be JTAG repaired for $40 but I am happy it was a soft brick.
In any case, my phone is resurrected and I am happy and I hope this post helps others.

You're welcome, Tai.
from the op:
1. To cleanly install the latest ATT Infuse UCLB3 Gingerbread leak. No hassle One-Click. Then enjoy the lastest leak of Infuse GB.
2. To Restore your phone to factory state.
3. To Restore your phone from boot loops, Samsung Logo, Soft Brick - non-hardware related failures from bad flashes, borked partitions or mismatch voodoo partitions. (I suspect many users will use it for this purpose)
Scenario #1: Oh, gosh! I would love to have the latest GB leak from AT&T! How to I do that? What in the world is Odin? Ain't it some mythological Norse deity?
Heimdall 1 click - done!
Scenario #2: I think I did something to my phone. It's not working right. My wifi is dropping like a leaky faucet. My Market is not working. I hate my phone! I wish it was like factory.
Heimdall 1 click - done!
Scenario #3: Oh crap! I just #@#% in my pants! I bricked my phone. OMG!!! I'm stuck on SAMSUNG logo! I'm boot looping! I lost recovery! Help me!!!
Heimdall 1 click - done.
Rom Manager Backups and CM9 ICS
This might be a dumb question.... In my post above, does anyone know if using Rom Manager to perform a ROM Backup on ICS CM9 5/27/2012 build would or could cause the boot loop/soft brick? It probably is a coincidence but now I am not sure I want to try it again.

Rom Manager Backup
Ah, never mind, just found it in the Nfuse CM9 ICS Rom thread. It does cause a boot loop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26648460&postcount=1090

I know you already found the answer, but do not use from manager. Do you backups from the nandroid in recovery only. From mgr will definitely give you issues.

Thanks for the input on this. I was about to research the best method for backup.
For backup of just the sdcard and all my photos and other personal files I've been using the Samba app. My PC has a mapped drive to the Samba share on the phone which is \sdcard. I use an inexpensive app on my PC called GoodSync and it checks every 10 min for the share and if it sees it after I enable Samba, it auto replicates all files to a folder on my PC. Not good for OS recovery but works well for personal data.

Thanks, I looked everywhere for the answer to that question.
Now that i recovered from a failed flash, I feel a bit more confident in replacing ROM's when I want to change the flavor.
I've read that these Samsung phones are really good for recovering from screw ups unlike other brands so i am glad I have the Infuse (but I have my eye on the new Galaxy III S).

[Q] Atrix 2 Stuck on Dual Core Technology Rooted

Hey guys I didn't find any useful posts for this device with the same problem. So I started a new thread. Well I was googling and texting and all of a sudden my phone reboots. I thought well it's nothing and put my phone down, 15 minutes later I was hoping for it to be on and ready to be used and all I saw was Dual Core Technology. I rebooted it countless times to see if it'll come alive and no luck. I did root the phone awhile back and never had any problems with it until now.
I did try to go to recovery and all it shows is the android with an exclamation mark. I can get into fast boot and everything but I am a noob with fast boot so I don't exactly know how to wipe the phone by using that.
So I am counting on you guys to help me out. I don't even know if my phone is charging atm I just have it plugged into my power port and all it shows is Dual Core Technology and the battery is dead for letting it sit on that screen for about 30 minutes. I hope you guys can help.
Thanks,
Mike
Have you tried to fxz back to stock using RSD Lite? If not make sure your battery is charged before doing so. That should do the trick. If you have a back up try the recovery. When the Android with the exclamation comes up hit both the up and down volume keys at the same time.

Couple things we need to know mate. What firmware are you running? 2.3.5? 2.3.6? Or ICS?
These all play into how you are going fix your phone. And frankly your stock recovery is not going to do you any good with this issue. You WILL have to FXZ back, UNLESS you have a backup made in a different recovery system, IE: bootstrap, or bootmenu. Once again all dependent on what firmware you are on. If you can answer those questions, we can help you with the right procedure.
A good thread to start with is this one: Noobs guide to Android and the Atrix 2
It will give you all the info you need on the FXZ and fastboot.
More info and we can fix ya! :highfive:
EDIT: just saw your battery issue. Pull your battery until you are ready to flash in Fasboot. You need to conserve. How much battery do you think you have? Or is it dead? Flashing in FB and having your phone die due to low battery is a SURE way to hard brick your A2.

Oh and do you guys know what exactly caused this to happen?
Mike
It could've been caused by a number of things. The A2 is an unpredictable phone. Somethings that happen to one person may not happen to others. From my experience.
Did you make any changes to any system files or anything of the such? I see you was rooted, but did you have a custom ROM or custom recovery? I'm assuming since you tried to get to recovery and got the android on its back, that that you didn't have a custom recovery installed..
If someone knows the exact reason this happened, let us know. This is twice I've come across someone with this problem.
FXZ should work for sure though. All is well.

No I don't think I modified anything except rooting and installing cheesecake but I didn't use it. I don't remember having a recovery installed either.
What I did was use android recovery by pushing vol up and down and I reset it. Works fine now I lost root though so I'm going to reinstall it and reset my server on cheesecake because I can't add a motoblur account right now then uninstall it again Lol.
I really appreciate the help. I almost hate the A2. 2 phones 2 unique problems, like you said some people experience a issue that no one else has.
