Just wondering what people thought of the extended battery?
And before anyone asks I know about the 60% efficency of batterys but it has got to the stage now where I need two batteries as my desires is so piss poor!
Just wanted to know if this is a good option or if there is other alternatives?

I'd just get a cheap standard 2nd battery. I was forced to buy one when I was using my HD2, the slim standards are nice for keeping the bulk out of your pockets.
I don't have any problems keeping my Desire going for 36 hours, but then again, nothing is stock on my phone. Rooting and using S-OFF with a new HBOOT table is always an option, works wonders for me.

Thanks but to me it appears quite cheap ??
Is there any other recommendations

Aye they are cheap, and I wouldn't expect much from them, some of the claimed 1600mAh batterys are only ~1100mAh for example. I think on average you will get 30% less juice from it as you would a proper OEM battery, some are much much worse, 50% for example and some slightly better than 20%.
Your best bet is just to buy a few of them and see which one is best. They are cheap enough, but with that said if you are going to spend ~£18 on three knock-off ones, you might as well spend another ~£5 and get an OEM. ^_^
I have no experience with 3rd party batterys with the Desire, I use a Veho Pebble if I know I am not going to be near a charge point for a couple of days, it works for loads of USB gadgets.

[Q] Anyone Tried This? - Replacement Battery

Hey Guys
I'm having some quite bad battery life with my DHD and I was looking into getting a bigger capacity battery.
I found this:
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/standard-battery-for-htc-desire-hd1600mah-p-3411.html?language=en
It is 1600 mAh and on paper looks promising and before I just wanted to check has anyone ordered this and had successful results with this battery and the seller or is it just a fail?
Thanks
Patrick
Found one while browsing around for a replacement for my DHD too.
Can't post links yet, but if you go to a site called evertop ending in a .co.uk and search for 35H00141-02M, you will find one with 1550mAH rating.
There are a few of these replacement ones claiming higher capacity, but one has to be cautious about these things mate.
Would love to find a genuinely reliable replacement one, although I must admit, if you haven't tried it already, there is a thread around which has a tip to charge the DHD in a certain way - seems to have worked for me upto certain extent - have managed to go over 24h without the need to charge with moderate use.
Hi I am a new member here. I also read somewhere about a mugen battery. haven't been able to order yet. I recently bought an external 5000mAh battery (USB charging) I can charge my DHD approximately 4 times before recharging the external battery.
just wanted to share an alternative to extended batteries that need to replace your battery cover.
a 5000mAh? holy ****...
EXTERNAL
the ones, which you connect to your usb port and charge the phone's battery
i wouldn't buy another internal one than the original.
battery's can be really dangerous..no chance to buy one from china or so..just my 2 cents.

These are the same as ones you can get from ebay.

Take extra precaution to this company. They will send you counterfeit goods no matter what if they think you are incapable of fighting back (say, living too far away).
My friend has been scammed once, and he went through all the complain channel in UK online in vain. It seems that UK's Government has no intention to stop online scammers that are active in their own countries. That was really an awkward discovery.
So be very careful.
I still don't get why people consider battery life as extremely important for phones that have easy to remove batteries...
They arent too expensive, ($3 on ebay for a 1600 mah fake, $15 for a genuine 1230) and its not exactly that hard to keep a few on you.
External batteries are also another option, but they usually use more space than internal ones (and they also require a cable).

but external can hold ALOT more AND plug into various devices
I would definitely recommend an external powerpack. I have a New Trent 5500mah pack, and it indeed gives 2-3 recharges, in a form factor slightly smaller than the DHD.
The only battery which is not fake, is the Mugen, coming in at 1500mah. It's not a huge improvement, but many say it's the difference between running out of juice mid-evening, and making it through to the night and the power cord.
Search for Mugen in this forum, all the details are there.
Or look for NewTrent on Amazon for example. The price varies (and they have bigger models too).
Avoid ALL OTHER "high capacity" batteries

You are right, batteries aren't expensive nowaday.
I recommend using genuine where possible. Fake/replacement/counterfeit batteries return bogus charging level to the devices, and that would result in pre-mature shutdown which would damage mobile devices.

evertop co uk is a well-known scammer. You should have looked up uk's ripoff list (forgot the full name of this website, you could search) and you can find it listed top 10 or something.
UK is hoarded with scammers like that, because their government just don't give a dime of what their people do on the internet.

- Ive been a little worried about this as I have a cheap one from China which came in an accessory pack, which by the way sucked. everything has just fallen apart. but the battery, which I rely on heavily as a backup, seems to have a better life than the original odly enough, dunno what's up with that. afraid it may leak or output higher charges and fry my phone?

I think the real capacity will be about 1100Mah zo 130 less then the original battery, as i'm in China right now I went one day on path to find me a spare battery for mine DHD and many just asked to high prices and I hadnt any faith that those higher Mah's would be really true.
So after looking at so many small shops in Guangzhou I came at this shop where the girl first needed look, being suprised that they where not selling battery's with false Mah's on, in fact it was a 1100Mah and I bought it just for 30rmb, all other sellers asked me about 40 a 50, one even dared ask more then 80.
The brand is Speedy, its a brand from Hongkong speedycom.hk/
It's to bad such brands wouldnt survive on eBay because most people will just go for the higher number even though the higher number is just a lie.
im interesting too

No the original htc battery is IMO the best battery on the market.
Guys, honestly I can't understand why you all want to try something that has been tried and proved several times to be fake.
Those guys make money on their lies and you help them expand and design their next lie which we will have to buy again before we realise the truth.
My opinion is that all people who bought similar batteries should return them and request refund because what they bought was not what was described. You bought a 1800/1500 or whatever mAh battery which was really 1240. If eBay or Paypal is involved, you can claim your money very easily.
buying batteries from these mass production factories from china is playing with your life dude....either they will short circuit your mobile board, else it will just blow up under slight increase of temperature.... please be caution and use only when your main original battery dies off and use this as backup and not for long hours usage....

[Q] Battery Replacements

Got my g2x last week and the battery is horrendous. Seems like there's no way around it unless I root my phone. Don't really feel like rooting my phone because I have never done it before and don't want to brick it. At this point, I'd rather carry a replacement battery. I'm looking for something that will provide at least an extra 5 hours of use.
I was looking on ebay and found some that come with a charger and 2-3 batteries. Anyone know how long these last?
I think it would help if you posted link to the batteries you have in mind. Unless all replacement batteries are the same nowadays.
But seriously, its not that hard to root your phone. And if you use the Bionic Reloaded v3 ROM, you'll get the official taste of Gingerbread, with great improvements.

The 3500 Mah battery will make the phone bigger, but you will be able to run for hours on end.
Thanks for the replies. I couldn't post links cause I'm a new member. I ended up getting some chichitec replacement batteries shortly after creating this thread. I'll probably be rooting my phone later.
They are ok
Eversince I got my G2x about a year ago, I have been using a replacement battery. The same thing that you see in ebay. For some reason I don't feel like using the battery that came with it. They are ok. If they are not the same quality with oem, they are at most 8% lesser in quality than the oem. I have been buying extra battery on ebay since my G1 then my nexus1 then to my G2X. They are cheap and they are good. You can never go wrong with it.

Yep I'm a beleiver in the G2X XL haha no plastic covering the lens takes waaaaay better pics and video. The cheap battery I got gives me substantial gains in life.I've had it for a couple months so far and it didnt blow up yet..

I think having root access should be in every Android phone, its what makes it different from iOS.
The thing with the bigger batteries, which I have and are amazing, is that you can't put a cover on them. I recently dropped my phone and cracked the screen since I was using the extended battery as well. I am replacing the glass myself but I would try a slim extended battery since you can use a phone case.
Andida 1980 is the one I'm using. It works well. I haven't tried the Chic batteries yet.
I recommend rooting as well as its super easy and Bionix is so much better than Stock 2.3 while still being stock 2.3 =D

I also had that problem while on holiday in Serbia. You have a lack in phone accessories unfortunately and disappointing that paypal doesn't work. Your best choice is to ask a relative from another country to buy it. Also, there are other ways of paying online that paypal.

There are certainly no end of "hi-capacity" batteries being sold on e-bay, but they are all fake. At best they have a similar capacity to the stock battery. If they are selling for $1-3, well that's OK I guess. But then watch out for the charging circuitry, because they will be cutting corners.
I would only buy a HTC branded replacement battery, or the Mugen - for the guarantee of quality, since I expect a battery to perform for 1 year with constant use.
Search the accessories thread for "battery" and "Mugen", you'll see what I mean
I bought an extra battery at dealextreme, a chinese website with free shipping to almost the whole world.
According to my own experience i haven't seen people mentioning a great difference between a stock and, let's say a 1500 mAh battery. Or am i wrong? i mean, with my current battery (more than an year old now) i'm getting 3 days of standby time with little use and with moderate use i get around 1-2 days (mostly 1 day) with moderate to heavy use when using internet...which is, i mean pretty much like any other smartphone out in the market.

That certainly doesn't coincide with my experience. I manage connections via Juice Defender (theoretically it provides me with 1.96x battery life...), with push email - but browsing, the odd game and a few phone calls means I just about get to night time to re-charge. As soon as the screen is on, the power drain is significant (tweaked auto-brightness).
My phone is just over a year old - the original battery was beginning to lose power noticeably, so I got a Mugen battery (the only brand of replacement batteries you should trust), which provides 1500mAh. I can definitely see a big difference vs the old, tired, OEM battery.
Mugen Battery has pretty good reviews and they are a reputed company too.

1000% that is the fake battery... only the cover is 2450mAH
I have bought one 1600mAh from Inno Cell Korea for 10$, it is also faked ones because its capacity is not 1600mAh

Anyway with ten bugs for a spare battery :d

There is a whole topic explaining many options about this matter.
Check the topic about sensation battery. Or look at my guide at my signature.
It's in Greek, but you will have the concept from the photos.
The phone is working great all these months and also Wi-Fi is back to normal with other antenna.
Powered by my IceCold 8.6.1 DHD
In terms of affordability, there are at least 2 other options, instead of getting an additional battery/making a Sensation one fit in the HD:
1) an external power pack. Get a good one like NewTrent off Amazon, 5000mAh should cost you in the region of €25. Advantage - for the size of the phone, you can carry over 3x the original battery charge (and only connect it when needed, so it's not bulky 100% of the time). They even do 11000mAh packs, but they get proportionally bigger and that is about 8x the stock battery.
2) get a powerskin, currently on offer for about $20 I think on powerskin.com. Doubles capacity, can be taken off, but bulky when being used. On the plus side, it does double as a case.
I've got a 5000mAh external power pack, does the job fine, and I only take it with me/slip in into a bag if I'm going out all day on my bike (recording tracks etc) or into the countryside.
As an additional benefit, you don't need to power down when you connect either of these options, so it's more convenient than swapping a battery.
Chinese batteries are not good. The best ones are, the ones that are expensive. And you'll never have for HTC Desire HD batteries with real 1600, 1800 2450 mamp.
Try Mugen batteries, and test one from them. Others says that are ok.

Best Priced & Reliable External Battery

I recently bought a nexus 4 to replace my s2 and I was wondering what battery you guys/gals use as an external or if you've heard of any good ones that you can suggest.
I want to avoid muggen because of their terribly high prices. Looking to spend under $25 yet I don't want to order some nameless one on eBay as they're capacity is questionable.
I've Googled a bit, but I always think the best opinions come from actual consumers and not just reviewers
I bought one of these before http://ncix.com/products/?sku=80896 but it could only charge up to 30% of my phone so i returned it. I guess the output of AA's makes it less efficient in charging a phone that needs 1-2amps
Oh and I'm in canada so I would prefer prices/products that aren't USA only.

Get the ones from anker. They are pretty good. I use the Anker Astro. They come with 18 month replacement warranty so you can be pretty relaxed.

The astro looks pretty good and the flashlight could be pretty handy. (They don't ship to canada though)
I was gonna get this one: http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Thu...TF8&colid=13A8PRMD9XGM5&coliid=I35EIKFHNSGMH2
But idk crap about battery specs. :/ Still deciding.

I got this one:

It is a BEAST!!
I think N4 can survive on it for almost a week!!!
I've been using this one for a bit and love it. I play Ingress (too much) and it usually eats about 20% of my battery in an hour. While plugged into this I not only can keep playing, but it charges roughly 5%/hour on top of that. I've had it going for more than 6 hours straight at that rate and yet to see the external go under 50%. It is a complete beast. Standby I get about 50% charge in 20 minutes using the 2A port.

Obviously this one is a little over your $25 goal, but I'd recommend an Anker of some sort either way.
