Anyone modify vringo? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Hey guys.
I've been using vringo for months and now I got the itch to modify it as the ui is pretty ugly.
I already got some things modified but have some questions...
1) What controls the background color when a call is coming in? I think it's a value in ringer.xml but after I decompile, change that value, recompile, sign I get force closes when trying to open the app (installs fine).
2) anyone have modded theirs and can post a picture for inspiration?
Thanks!

Its the eastern asian version of vlingo! (couldn't resist)

lol "vrrringo vrringo" haha

You guys are great!
how about some helpful answers now?

are you using the correct xml code for the color?

Don't install the recompiled apk... recompile it then take out the changed files from the recompiled apk and drop then into an untouched apk. Then resign that one.
Hope that makes sense!

not sure? the original color was #ff404040 so I changed it to #ff000000 hoping for black...but then again, got the force close.

this method worked, in the sense that the app worked and no force closes. however, I'm guessing I edited the wrong file because the background color hasn't changed...now trial and error takes over I guess!
EDIT: worked!!! i edited two more .xmls but i'm thinking it was ringerapi.xml. now it's black and looking much better. tonight i'll fix up the graphics, but that's easy

[FIX] Cyanogen Signal Fix With Instructions

Here is the zip that fixes the visual signal fix on Cyanogen (and all AOSP roms for that matter). However, don't flash this if you're running an theme on top of froyo. It wont hurt your phone, but it wont help any A big thanks to Kyouko for the fix!
Having trouble applying this with the newest CM 6.0.0 Stable? Take a look here for some help to get it working. Thanks to dirkydirk23 for these tips!
Download metamorph (free) from the market
Download the zip attached to this post
Unzip the visual fix file onto your sd card. It doesn't matter where on your sd card, just somwhere where you can find it.
Open metamorph, and allow it to run checks. Sometimes on the first time you open it, it claims that something is wrong on your phone and will close. If this happens, just reopen the aplication again and allow it to run checks. It will work the second time.
Click on "apply existing theme" on metamorph.
Navigate to the extracted file of the visual fix on your sd card.
Click on it, and then select the .XML file
Allow metamorph to flash the .XML and rebbot your phone. When it boots up again, the signal bars will be fixed!
Post if you have any questions or would like to express thanks
I'ma noobie
hey, lemme ask you, is there an issue with it showing inaccurate bars? or is this giving us more visual bars as others have complained about only having 4?
also you spelled cyanogen wrong haha

This gives you more visual bars. On the default rom without this fix, the max amount of bars that will show up, even if you have amazing signal, is 3. With this fix, you get a more accurate reading; If you have great signal, you'll have the full 4 bars, not only 3. And if you have ok signal, you'll have 2 bars, not only one. And I fixed the spelling thanks

I put it on my phone then did what you said. Now I have got 4 bars! Then I was talking with my friend who has a droid, found out he had 4 bars all along. I was mad.

Why were you mad? This fix is for the hero, and it worked because you have a full 4 bars now. The droid has always had the full 4 bars, but AOSP on the hero never has. Now with the fix, it does

Yeah I wish that would get fixed!
BTW, if I download and extract the .png files from this fix, can I just add them to the Framework-res.apk in my theme? Will that do the same thing once I flash the theme?

Yes it will if I'm understanding the question correctly... you're making a theme and changing out the default PNG images and replacing them with these? If that's the case then when you flash the new theme it definitely should work, but if it doesn't you can always just metamorph this file and make it work

No this is for everything AOSP, and it shouldn't have changed your wallpaper. How may signal bars do you usually get wherever you are now? You should see one more than that, as that is what this visual fix does.
I was plesently surprised to find out I don't have to repeat this step when I flash the nightlies, like I do with the voicemail apk

Correct, and that's because the nightlies shouldn't override the framework.apk

Anybody have this wallpaper?

its on the skyraider 3.1 sense rom, the one that has 2 andys popping out from behind a cracked wall that reads HTC in green........does any body have that in blue?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
If you have a copy of the original I can likely convert it into blue. Just give me an example of the colour of blue you want.
Thanks but I can't find its folder location...its not in the customize/resource folder..those are the stock ones...skyraider has its own set...

Seems to be the case... heh I downloaded what you are running (I'm on stock, just because I need everything working, even if it's slightly boring x.x) and was unable to find any custom wallpapers in any of the folders (it must be packed in an .apk or other resource file somewhere). Someone from the community should be able to provide further info though.
I have this one...can you do a navy blue?

Sure, but do you want to use the file you uploaded as source (compared to a larger image)?
Im not sure how clear this image is cuz im on my phone..i could use a jpg tho if its more clear..whatever is easiest for u, I appreciate it
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea id like that as the source image..sorry for the "huh" response
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No problem, a larger image is normally easier to work with (and would probably look better on your phone), so let me know if you ever have another file you'd like blue-ized. Also the Tap-A-Talk program might have made the upload size smaller. I attached a quicky version of a blue-ization. I don't know if you can view attachments in Tap-A-Talk, so I'll post a url in this post as well.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=405695&d=1285128979
Edit 2: Also if you don't like the color of blue, let me know (I can try and match it to the hue SkyRaider blue... I kind of just picked a random blue =p).
A tad lighter if possible, sr blue is nice, im using the ported theme..i like it only theres still a somewhat red appearnce, are u able to clean it up some?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
heh, I thought I was seeing things (sorry about that red)... this should fit more in with the theme and all traces of red should be gone! Feedback is welcomed if it's not what you were hoping for =).

Can of worm's.

I did some Googling and came up with 2 conflicting answers...some dudes say they are replacing .9.png with regular .png and not having any problems...I tried doing the same and once again all sorts of witchery happened. Do I have to use drawn9 and eclipse (or whatever the hell they're called) to get it to work?
Thanks!

It depends on the .9 image. some of the images never stretch. I notice a lot of people have made the pull down notification background a regular png and not a .9 but if you have it like this your framework file will not be able to re compile.

So I tried this and the font color still isn't right. It's supposed to be white but it's black just as stated before. I pulled your framework res apk and everything but still nothing...any ideas?
It's just the clock font that's screwed up. I'm not sure why....I'm gonna keep messing with it but I really have no idea why it's doing that

No it's the clock font in the system tray. It's black so you can't see it when the system tray is also black. It should be white but I don't see an option for it. But here it is chief

Help decompiling framework-res.apk?

So, I have been using supercharged V5 for a while and am loving it. However, I have been unable to update to either update one or two without having massive moto fc's.
Eventually I found out that the app I use to change my window animations is what's causing it. Cause the fc's don't happen until I install the animations and reboot. What's weird is that the fc's don't happen on the initial release.
Sooooo, I know that animmod (the app) changes the framework-res.apk for the animations and I'm thinking that maybe if I track down what it changes, I can figure out why it does it on the updates and not the initial.
So I guess I need to decompile the apk. But I have no clue how to do that or what that apk even does.
I'm PC savvy, but Java and Linux are brand new to me. Help would be awesome! I'd love to be able to update and keep the app!

So you're recommendation led me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890199
And this is leading me to believe this is for editing application apk's, not necessarily system apk's?

I have edited the system apk once before with it.
I'd try 7zip...

So I was able to decompile both my current modded framwork-res.apk and the un-modded one straight from supercharged V5.
The differences lie in the "anim" folder. (imagine that?)
All the xml files in the folder are the same except mine (the modded ones) are bigger in size.
What on god's green earth could be changing in the updates that causes all the Moto FC's? Thoughts anyone?
I've attached both of the framework's if someone get's curious or bored. Help would be rad!
