[Q] Modding WidgetLocker on Nexus S - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've been trying to do this for the past three days now. I've managed to root and get ADB working, but this is where I'm stuck. I've tried to replace the .ong files through NinjaMorph and Root Explorer - nothing. I've tried to transfer the .apk from my phone, change the extension to .apk and then to .zip and then back again. I've tried doing that and signing it via 'droplets' and Market apps - nothing. I've tried using a combination of RE and ASTRO... nothing.
If someone could shed some light on this situation it would be REALLY helpful. I was hoping this would only take a couple of hours and not almost half the week.
Thanks,
Jon.

Did you ever figure out the problem? I'm thinking of doing the same now

Custom Themed ADW.Launcher

Ok, here's my situation: I made a custom themed, modified version of ADW.Launcher 1.0.1, as I have with previous versions. They will not install via a file browser & package manager on the phone or using adb. The only way I've gotten them to install is by flashing it to /system/app/, but that makes future updates impossible unless I restore my phone to an earlier state.
My question: How can I simply make this install or how can I theme an application already installed to /data/app/? I suppose signing it myself could work, but I'd have to learn how to do that.
Thanks!
you need to resign the apk. You may need to delete META-INF

This has me very frustrated. I use Linux, not Windows. The link you gave me doesn't help. I cannot figure out how to do this, and it's ticking me off. I shouldn't have to spend hours trying to do this.
I used the following link and successfully created a signed apk, but it still won't install.

I don't see why you're getting ticked off... I'm only trying to help you and you didn't even specify what os you were using.
Did you delete meta-inf before resigning? You'll also need to unistall adw before reinstalling.
If all else fails, upload the apk and I'll resign it for you

Dude relax he just spent time trying to help you where no one else even bothered

No guys, you've got it all wrong; I'm not ticked at any of you, but at my own failure. I'm not sure why it won't work. Yes, I deleted the META-INF folder before signing it and got an output file containing a new META-INF, but the errors persisted. Having someone else do it for me would be nice, but it won't help much since I'll have to do it after every update. Thanks a lot for your offer, though.
I'll just keep trying..

Deleted some Google Talk files on rooted G1 and messed it up!

I want to start off by first appologizing for posting this in the wrong area (if I did), as I understand it's important to place the post in as specific as a topic as possible.
Two days ago I went in and deleted a few .apk files that had to do with GTalk, not realizing all those apps talk to each other to do certain tasks. I have not been able to download from the market OR sign into Google Talk since.
I found a forum last night where somebody had the exact same problem. Some guy posted a link to the files to put back on the phone. But since I can't download apps, I can't get a file manager to install the .apk files I downloaded onto my PC. I've tried using SDK and it is SUPER confusing. Please help as I am so frusterated I want to cry and pull my hair out.
Thanks in advance.
I am using a windows 7 laptop
Rooted G1 with CyanogenMod
adb is not difficult, if you are rooted would be more simpler.
try this

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I have ran into a similar problem on a US a854 milestone, I just recovered my phone from a bad experience trying to flash to 2.2, anyway i rooted again this evening and used root explorer to delete bloatware, unfortunately i uninstalled gtalk(google talk) and now I cant download from market. I need to find a way to get gtalk back. I do not have a back up and if someone can tell me how to create a nandroid back up I would be greatly appreciative, but I need to get gtalk back first
thanks in advance

UPDATE, I found some talk.apk files on this forum and got me squared away.....for the record there here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773272

[Q] accidentally deleted files

sorry for my question but wanted to know if anyone can help, 7 days ago bought a acer stream, I made the root and then exploring delete files by mistake apk system, of course, many things do not work now. If anyone can help they would appreciate a lot. Thanks.
You're pretty much out of luck. If you deleted the files 7 days ago, they are likely un-recoverable. If they are on the sd card, and less than a day or so, you have a chance to recover them using GetDataBack.
Your best bet is to do a factory reset to get all the files back.
dead
remove them from the system and are apk files, there is no method to revive my acer?, it means that I throw it, only serves, I can not load a new rom?

thanks
these are the files I needed but when I try to run with the browser gets me close to applied force and will not let me run it. There is some solution to this?
Factory reset the phone. If you cant do it via settings, try recovery menu.
all
I tried to start from the menu, I did restart buttons and no screen goes black and does not reset to factory settings with some other idea?

Froyo ICS Keyboard Install via Recovery Problems

Hi there, before I begin, if you're gonna rage about Froyo, it's because I'm using an old testing device, and it's smoothest, most operable version is Froyo, it's the old Galaxy i7500.
Now, I'm having this strange problem that I just can't figure out, and I'm hoping that the bright minds here at XDA can help me with this.
As the topic name suggests, I'm trying to install an ICS keyboard into this Froyo ROM I'm currently running on this phone. If I install the keyboard normally, either via pushing it through ADB install or running the APK in my phone, the keyboard runs perfectly.
The strange part is though, that whenever I try to install the keyboard through recovery, by putting it either in the system/app folder, or data/app folder, my phone gives me an error which says the Keyboard has crashed, and this keeps happening, rendering me unable to use the keyboard at all.
I've tried updating the libjni_latinime.so file in libs to the one in the APK, but that doesn't seem to do it either.
Can someone help shed some insight into this for me? Thanks.
EDIT: A quick debug of this, shows me that the error seems to appear even if I did an ADB push of the apk into the system folder, or normal app folder for that matter.
It only seems to work if installed, either using ADB or in Phone, rather than copied into folders. Any insight into this?

I broke my CM13 installation, anyone care to assist?

Hello!
Last week, I flashed CM13 nightlies from cyanogenmod.org onto my OPO, set everything up and everything was working just beautifully. Today, I was looking for a way to add the 12s camera app to my phone and came across a tutorial which told me to download an APK and replace /system/lib with a folder they provided. Immediately after replacing the lib, my screen went black. I waited for a couple of minutes and then decided to force reboot. From there it just went into a bootloop.
Now I'm agonizing of going through all of the flashing and setting up the phone all over again (several hours of work) and I was thinking if it would be possible to access the internal memory of the phone on my computer and then replace the lib file with the original? Provided someone could point me to the direction where I could acquire it I'm pretty noob at this stuff so go easy on me :silly:
EDIT: And to clarify I am able to access TWRP so the phone is not bricked
EDIT2: Even though the phone is now off, I can access the internal storage of the phone from my computer, however I can't access system folders, only /sdcard
Nevermind, got impatient and flashed again
