Should be, it just uses a bootanimation.zip file located in the /system/media folder.
If you're rooted, just push a properly designed replacement.

Yes its possible I used a program on the evo forums that pushed everything for me too! I can try and find the thread again too....

Flashable boot animations?

Can someone post up some flashable boot animations for those that adb illiterate? I saw about 2 or 3 in the sticky but none that caught my interest. Think you guys can help me out?
This would be sweet. Hope somebody comes through
U dont need adb...use root explorer. That's what I do.
Dont wanna mess with ADB?
Download the boot animation file.
Rename to bootanimation.zip
Put on root of SD.
Open up Root Explorer, navigate to root of SD long press the bootanimation.zip file, and select move
Navigate to /system/customize/resource
Click Mount R/W
Click paste, and overwrite the existing file.
Reboot.
**NOTE: you may want to back up the existing boot animation first, in case you dont like the new one.
Sent from the bowels of my mind...
snap That's what I am talking about.
Yeah root explorer is just simply that awesome. It doesn't get any easier then using root explorer.
Its like drag and drop..

[Q] Boot Animation

So, I've become pretty good @ UOT Kitchen now. However, I keep attempting to flash a new Boot Animation to my phone and the boot anim never changes. I'm using the "Froyo Default" path. I even checked the path myself and found the bootanimation.zip as well. Would it be safe to unzip the UOT file to my sd card and physically "pluck" the bootanimation.zip into the path and delete the older one?
My PM prolly just answered your problem here.

yea, that was it. I had to break the UOT zip open and place it in system/media/bootanimation.zip. Thanks for the help heydabop...

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but im having this problem to? How do I put the new bootanimation? When I try to push with adb, it says the filesystem is read only.

Before you do the adb push, type the adb remount command. It mounts the system as rewritable

Are you doing it in cwm or just while the OS is running? Doing it in cwm is probably easier, just make sure /system is mounted in the cwm menu.
Got it, thanks guys.
Using DROID explorer is much easier to drag and drop files

here try this use root explorer(if you dont have it you can get it in the market) to put in correct place(depends on the rom you are running(*)?
store on root of SD card
open root explorer make sure to make R/W
go to SDCard and copy file
navigate to bootanimation path (*)
rename bootanimation.zip to something else (bootanimation1.zip)
paste file and rename bootanimation.zip to match what the old one was if necessary
exit root explorer
reboot phone

from what i can see that rom isn't set up for sound. but i can make it where it can.
Not sure if your rom supports audio but on my rom, the location for audio is the same as that of the bootanimation (/data/local/).
It should be named android_audio.mp3 and as for permissions:
Owner: check only read and write
Group: check only read
Others: check only read

no reflashing, just renaming a file and moving the new to that folder using root explorer(or es file explorer) the you just add the mp3 to same folder you put bootanimation in and reboot.

[Q] Help? Accidently deleted People APK?

Hey guys,
I think I accidentally deleted the people system APK?! I can no longer save contacts. Wondering what the best way to fix this issue would be without flashing back to stock rom. I am currently rooted and running stock 4.4.2 KK, but I have made a lot of MODS and am running the Galaxy Gear Manager for my watch which is a huge process to get running that I don't want to have to repeat.
Any help is mucho appreciated!!!
If you can find the apk somewhere install that. Otherwise flash the system.img from the factory image.

No, it'll reinstall all the system files. If you modified any of them you'll lose that but I doubt you modified any. This will only work if your bootloader is unlocked. If it isn't then you'll lose everything unlocking it.

Have super su on your internal sd card so you can flash it in your recovery. You'll lose root.

Do you still need help with this? It's not that difficult to just pull the app and move it into the right system folder. Once you do that, change permissions to match the other apps, and reboot, you should be back to normal. I'll post the apk if you need it.

You can pretty much just download any ROM available, extract the Contacts.apk file (I think its in system/priv-app/) and put it on your device.

Yes, the People/contacts apk, and I am still stock, just rooted and have an unlocked bootloader, so odexed, I believe.

I tried that with one of the apk's I found, but I couldn't get it to work. I may have gotten a corrupt file though.
Here's a flashable zip in attachment (wipe Dalvik cache just in case) for Contacts.apk (with the .odex file)...
You still have ContactsProvider.apk?

He might not be in a situation where he can download a large file like a complete rom. He did mention being at work. Anyway, these should work:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9903887/Apps/Contacts.apk
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9903887/Apps/Contacts.odex
If you are deodexed, let me know, and don't use just the apk ^ there or it will force close constantly.
Just use a file manager that has root access (ES File Manager is a good, free choice, if you don't have another) and move the app and odex file to:
/system/priv-app
Make sure to change the permissions. The 3 Read options should be checked and the first Write option. If you aren't sure, just read the permissions of another app in that folder and match it. Then just reboot and should be back to normal.

Awesome!, thanks. The only thing I see in my app/system directory that pertains to contacts is the "GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk" I will be attempting to get this fixed when I get home in a couple hours.

Now that you have root, you can use any bootanimation you like though. The ATT one is just as bad as the Clara.

On the file you provided, I'm still getting the Clara one? I copied the original bootanimation and bootanimation.zip to my SD card and removed them from their directories, I copied the ones you provided and put them in and gave them the appropriate permissions. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?

Yeah. Strange. I tried with other custom boots and I couldn't get it to change there either. Obviously it's my method. I've tried ES File Explorer with root permissions and Root Explorer. I extracted the file you provided into 2 separate files (bootanimation and bootanimation.zip). I copied the originals and put them in a folder on my SD card.
For the file "bootanimation", I put it in root/system/bin with the permissions of rwxr-xr-x (octal code 0755).
For the file "bootanimation.zip", I put it in root/system/media with the permissons of rw-r--r-- (octal code 0644).
I've done it before but they were on much older phones so I'm betting there's something wrong with my method?
Yes, tried with new one even with boot factory it doesn't come out..mehh
Weird. I don't remember which image I got the files from. I'll post files from another image when I'm back at my laptop.
Don't know about the stock AT&T rom, but on the Claro version the bootanimation.zip is located in /cust/CLR_COM/poweron/
