Micro USB cable
CDMA Workshop 2.7

A hot girlfriend to cheer you up
What you will not need
An iPhone
To be discussing how to get the Epic connected to Boost Mobile
A wife
SPECIAL NOTES
Your old phone, the incognito, must had the internet\mms working before, make sure you had updated the profile and prl.
Other phones MAY BE ABLE TO WORK using this method, this guide will use the incognito because it’s a 3g phone and it’s really easy to extract needed info
If you are using other phones, MAKE SURE ITS A CDMA BOOST MOBILE Phone and 3G (evdo) ready. You will need the SPC\MSL of your older phone too
This guide includes basic info needed to have any CDMA phone 3g working in boost mobile, I know people with Evo’s, Fascinates, Eris in boost mobile…if the it’s a Verizon phone…the PRL needs to be changed to a Sprint one (latest one 03-18-11 is 60676)
FAQ
Why the Epic and not the iPhone 4?
Because is the hottest phone at the moment, Bad ESN epics can be bought really cheap, mine was $200 new in the box.
Why Boost Mobile and not Net10?
CDMA Boost Mobile runs on Sprint's Network, you will get the same 3g speeds, nice coverage, and its only $50 month with no contract. ( or lower with "shrinkage" enabled)
Will I get 4g free?
Short answer “no”..but you should Google around about this topic..you will be surprised.
Can I WIFI tether?
YES, but do not use the default MobileAP app, use "wireless tether for root" users, both the old and new version works.
What are the speeds?
Epic does not tell you if you are in a 3g or 1x network, both networks will show with a 3g symbol unless you have a modified ROM. 1x speeds are usually 0-200 kbps, 3g are 50-1400kbps here in South Florida
UPDATE 03-18-11
seems like people are getting 500kbps again in 3g...
Will updating to froyo, change ROMs, downgrading, and flashing to stock via Odin will have any effect???
YES, but so far you only have to change the MMS settings to the correct one (check step18), I have changed different ROMS, flashed back to stock via Odin without loosing my 3g settings..BUT flashing or upgrading your MODEM…WILL MOST LIKELY BREAK YOUR 3G
Ready...Fight
1. First you need to install the SPC-2700 drivers in your computer, download the zip folder and extract it in you desktop, inside the new extracted folder run setup.exe and select install and let it do its magic.
2. Connect your incognito to your computer and let all the drivers install, if you get the common error message about the drivers not been compatible with Windows XP let the drivers install anyway
3. Open CDMA Workshop 2.7 and select the COM port where the incognito is located and connect, in my case it was COM 13, if you don’t know which one is it, disconnect all your USB and Serial devices and try to connect one by one. When you find the correct one click “Read”
3.99 if you already know your SPC for the incognito skip steps 4 and 5, you can also call boost mobile and see if they give you your SPC, make a phony excuse like “hey I’m going to North Korea and I need my SPC of my phone just in case I want to use my incognito over there, thanks!!”
UPDATE!!!
IF you activate your incognito online on the very last step you will get your SPC, boost mobile gives it to you in case you need to manually activate your phone.
4.Go to the Memory tab and in the Memory / Eeprom section Read Address 0363:0000 with 65536 size, this will create a file so save it in your desktop
NOTE: you may be have to read it twice, a lot of times the phone will not respond, try again and again and again until you get a 64kb .bin file in your desktop, if it keeps to giving you a hard time, disconnect in CDMA WS and try again, or reboot both your computer and the phone and keep trying
5. Here comes the fun part, do you like the game “where is Waldo?”, if so then you are going to like “where is my 6 digit SPC”, open the bin file in notepad, you will see a bunch of strange digits, you are going to be looking for the only 6 digit number that is together. So maximize your notepad and start scrolling up and down, right and left.
6. Had Fun? Well fun is over.. Close everything and Open QXDM, Select Options, Communications and select your port number, and select ok. Select View, New, Common, Command Output. Now in the white command box located in the lower part of the program type the following commands:
spc YOUR6DIGITSPC
<ENTER>
requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof
<ENTER>
You will get a bunch of data, it will start with the DIAG TX Item section, ignore this part and go down until you see the DIAG RX(check step 14 for an example) item section, select and copy this part to the end of the output to a notepad text file and save it as “sprint”
Now again in the command input box type
requestnvitemread ds_mip_ss_user_prof 1
<ENTER>
Do the same for the new output but save the notepad file as “boost”
7. Close everything, we almost done with the incognito, open QPST configuration go the Ports tab and add a new port, select your port number, if nothing shows up uncheck the “show serial….blah blah” box and it will show your port number, select it and add it, you will now see your COM port with your phone connected. If it’s disabled, enable the port.
8. Now start client “service programming”, select your active phone, Read from phone, input your spc, after its done, save to file, save in a safe place, preferably in your p0rn folder. Close everything and turn off your incognito and give one last kiss to it and put it away.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT EVER TURN ON YOUR PHONE AGAIN
10. Install the Samsung galaxy s drivers. Connect your Epic and dial ##8778#, it will send you to the ultra secret menu and select in both options MODEM, let your computer install the drivers and open CDMA workshop again.
11. Connect to new created port in CDMA workshop (go back to step 3 if you need help with this). Go to the security tab and in the Password section delete all the Fs and send 01F2030F5F678FF9 it will give you the epic’s SPC, write it down(make sure you select the “custom password” selection)
11. go back to the step 9
12,..ohh there isn’t one? Well lets continue. Close CDMA and open QPST, add the new port for the epic and start service programming, here you will open 2 new connections, the active phone and one offline “SURF6025-ZRF6000-A”
13. In the offline window open the incognito file saved earlier which should be saved in the you know what folder, for the online window read from your epic and send the SPC
14. Now lets find your HA and AAA keys for both your profiles so open the sprint and boost notepad files, Sprint’s HA and Boost’s HA and AAA are a 12 digit key, Sprint’s AAA is 32 digit key, if you look in the output data you got you will see 2 sections each with [0-15] lines, your keys are the very last 2 digits of each line. You will see something like this
This is “my” sprint data output
DIAG RX item:
index = 0
mn_ha_shared_secret_length = 0x06
mn_ha_shared_secret[0] = 0x12
mn_ha_shared_secret[1] = 0x34
mn_ha_shared_secret[2] = 0x64
mn_ha_shared_secret[3] = 0x45
mn_ha_shared_secret[4] = 0x45
mn_ha_shared_secret[5] = 0x78
mn_ha_shared_secret[6] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[7] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[8] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[9] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[10] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[11] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[12] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[13] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[14] = 0x00
mn_ha_shared_secret[15] = 0x00
mn_aaa_shared_secret_length = 0x10
mn_aaa_shared_secret[0] = 0xE8
mn_aaa_shared_secret[1] = 0x13
mn_aaa_shared_secret[2] = 0xE3
mn_aaa_shared_secret[3] = 0x80
mn_aaa_shared_secret[4] = 0x13
mn_aaa_shared_secret[5] = 0x15
mn_aaa_shared_secret[6] = 0xES
mn_aaa_shared_secret[7] = 0x78
mn_aaa_shared_secret[8] = 0x8D
mn_aaa_shared_secret[9] = 0xD4
mn_aaa_shared_secret[10] = 0x78
mn_aaa_shared_secret[11] = 0x0B
mn_aaa_shared_secret[12] = 0x45
mn_aaa_shared_secret[13] = 0x18
mn_aaa_shared_secret[14] = 0x88
mn_aaa_shared_secret[15] = 0x78
In this case “my” sprint ha key is 123464454578 and “my” aaa is E813E3801315ES788DD4780B45188878
ok now look and find yours, write it down and do the same for boost’s ha and aaa secret keys
15. With both windows open in QPST service programming start matching whats in the “M.IP” tab from the incognito file to the epic’s online one, you need to create a new profile and enable it, this new profile it’s the one that control’s your 1x boost mobile network and your NAI should be something like “[email protected]”, when entering the shared secret keys select “enter Hex value”, enter both the aaa and ha keys in both profiles, for the boost mobile primary address enter 0.0.0.0.
15.666 (thanks to ifuxwituz_)
You may want to try the following settings in the MIP and PPP config, if you are having problems
in M.IP settings for
profile 0 the NAI is MEID(DEC)@hcm.sprint.com
Example: [email protected]
home address: 0.0.0.0
primary ha address: 68.28.15.12
secondary HA address: 68.28.31.12
Profile 1
NAI [email protected]
home adress: 0.0.0.0
primary ha address: 255.255.255.255
secondary ha address: 0.0.0.0
PPP Config
Um settings:
tethered nai: boostmobile.com
user ID: [email protected]
check the 1xEVDO->1x box
AN settings
User ID: [email protected] (this is just an example you replace the 268****** number with your MEID(DEC) number
NOTE: in case you have a good ESN epic and you might want to backup your secret keys…once you change the keys..the default ones are going to be gone for EVER! To do this go back to step 6, the epic only has one profile.
16. in the PPP config tab, you need to also match both Um and AN users IDs. if the incognito files doesn’t have an ID listed, erase it from the epic too! (if you can't erase it, ctrl+d to "null" the box{thanks deekane})
17. When you are done, “write to phone”, epic will reboot and when its back online, your should now see the 3g arrows dancing, your might have to wait 10-15 minutes for it to appear, if it doesn’t go back to step 15 and make sure all info matches again
18. MMS works too!!! If you are in a eclair ROM (2.1) Dial ##3282#, edit and enter your epic’s spc, scroll down and on change the MMSC URL to “mm.myboostmobile.com” .
For Froyo Roms (2.2) check post #54, or open the “voice dialer” app, say “OPEN A P N” (try V, P, N or just A, P , N) and open the “Open APN” menu. Open “Sprint”, scroll down to the “mms proxy”, select it and erase what is there, now press the “menu” soft button in your epic and save. Restart your phone and now you can start sending funny pictures of cats!!!
Video, Pic, and Slideshow MMS works.
19. If you want to check you are connected to a 3g (EvDo) network, Dial *#info*1111# hit phone information then scroll down to see if you're connected to cdma1xrtt or evdo, you should see CDMA -EvDo rev. A in the "network type" (thanks zipxavier)
YOU MUST BE IN A EVDO AREA!!!!!
20. VOICE MAIL NOTIFICATIONS NOW WORKS, CHECK POST #2 for the apk!!! thanks m4f1050!! (do not update the apk or install it from the market)
EXTRA BONUS, TXT and VOICE:
ON the CDMA Tab in service programming, your Directory # should match your phone number..and the IMSI_S is your “MIN” number which boost mobile calls it something else I forgot, in case your text or voice doesn’t work..this is what you need to check first it matches.
Thanks to:
Mobile-files.us, ppcgeeks, xda, sda, mars, the sun, howardforums, special thanks to chimstar from mofi for the help with the MMS problem. This guide was made with the help of a lot people in different threads about different stuff..sorry for not listed everyone
About me:
I’m a “flasher”..but I don’t work for that, I only flash my family and friend’s phones because flashed phones are kinda “buggy” sometimes and any updates and modifications will have an impact on the phone..this is why I don’t flash phones of strangers or charge money....I’m an IT self-employed technician and I do charge money to repair their computers.. I have 1 year experience with flashing phones; my first phone was the HTC Pro 2 to metropcs..and lots of droid 1 to metro..

NV items 65-466 and 1192-1194? what info are you exactly looking for? NAI, ha, aaa keys?
this guide does not use the copy and paste NV items method...
try pulling your ha and aaa keys for both sprint and boostmobile profiles via qxdm, if you can, then thats pretty much the most important info that you need. you will be needing your rant's spc for that
check step 6 and 11 for more info..

Quick! Hurry!!!!

yo
even though i dont have Boost and most of these pricks forget to say it. thanks bud!

I dont know if these settings for MIP and PPP config work for some of you guys but these are the settings that worked for me for htc evo (its usually the same for all android phones you are trying to get working for boostmobile)
in M.IP settings for
profile 0 the NAI is MEID(DEC)@hcm.sprint.com

*this is side tracked from what i posted above but, if you are NOT getting 3g evdo speeds make sure your donor is a 3G EVDO enabled phone like the OP stated. I am currently not getting 3G speeds on my phone because i used the Samsung mirro (dont ask why) as a donor and it is not 3G enabled so i will have to go purchase a Boostmobile Incognito now....(BLACKBERRY'S DO NOT WORK AS DONORS [at least from what i know])

NEED HELP!!!
once you break 3g... is there anyway you can get it back... i had flash few months ago... but didnt know if you modify you modem you will break your 3g... if you could help me with this i would really appreciated it

Does anyone know if this can be done on an Epic with a bad ESN? I'm using Midnight rom 2.7 EXT4 on Crickets 60.00 Plan. I am sick of dealing with Crickets ghetto trash reps!
The phone was purchased through craigslist and I've checked with sprint and it is a bad ESN phone. Since the phone will work on sprints network, will that block boost customers from using Bad ESN Sprint phones?
An answer would be great guys.

It doesn't matter what ESN is on your Epic because changing it to the ESN of the Incognito is a required part of the process that comes before this guide (getting the Epic to connect to Boost in the first place).
Can't go into much more detail without getting moderated...

help please 3g
I already have a boost epic that I brought already flashed it was froyo 2.2.1based nebula rom dk28 modem, rom that was originally on there was and I was able to get boost accnt and setup, now my issue I ran into originally was mms and very slow 3g speeds.top speeds from speedtest app in market was 0.11 and upload of 0.4 consistently.I was unable to send recieve mms until I read online about froyo issues with boost mms through this thread and also different modems so I decided to go stock,(IM ALSO NEW TO ANDROID,switch from WINDOWMS MO)so I was able to do some more diggin and downgraded to stock rom and modem with odin,now mms works great but no luck with 3 speeds at all, I am in the south fl area with good 3g coverage, speed.test app brings back download speed of 0.13 mbps dl speeds consistently and upload speeds of 0.19,I also have a friend who has a boost device which is a boost epic now running same speed test app next to me averaging 1.47 mbps dl and good uploads also, I checked prl mines was at 31001 I believe or something like that I ended up following the guide to change prl now my prl is at 60674 and speeds are still the same ,PLEASE HELP ME FIX MY 3G YOUR ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

if you break the 3g in your epic..you need to redo the steps to get the right ha and aaa key again in your epic from the incognito.

I have the same problem..my wife's epic some days has great speeds but mine, which is right next to it, will have <200kpbs download speeds and VICE VERSA.
THIS DOESN'T NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PHONE
seems like sprint\boost is doing some network changes, especially if your area is currently rolling out 4g...
when will be solved?? i dont know
also, not only boost mobile users are having this problems..sprint users too..there is thread about it in the evo forums.

Thanks for your reply @Leviuqse,I guess I just have to wait it,would it make difference if 4g was already deployed yet in my area for speeds,and has anyone successfully found a 4g solution yet for boost Epic or Evo,just googling the topic brings you to alot of forums and ideas but no bypass tho,sorry if I am asking in the wrong area, im just really into my new phone

X7510 will not read information off SIM card

Telecom New Zealand has recently launced its "new" mobile network - WCDMA on 850MHz (it was a the rather antiquanted CDMA system prior!). Their range of "new" phones was nothing spectacular really and nothing much else worldwide appealed to me more than the X7510, so I duely purchased one from the UK.
When the SIM card was installed the unit come up with the following message:-
The Operator does not exist in the database. Please contact your Operator for the connections settings.
[Intrestingly enough, Vodafone NZ is in the database, even although the X7510 is not sold in NZ - but I digress!]
However the phone function and SMS appear to be working well, apart from the fact that it refuses to acknowledge the NZ Telecom Voicemail number. I get a good solid H in the Quick Menu Bar.
The data connection refuses to work at all though.
I have contacted "the Operator", but they are not all that interested in helping me as the X7510 is not a phone we support and while they've helped a little bit, the several HelpDesk Operators I've tried, all seem to end up with the same conclusion that everything the phone needs to know about the network and connection is on the SIM card.
When I open the SIM Manager, I can "see" some of the data there. (e.g. such as the Voicemail Number, but Voicemail on the phone Speed Dial is blank - no number stored). And when I try and connect to the Internet (using the number that Telecom provided verbally) it keeps asking for more Connections Settings, which I am told, there aren't any more to enter - it's all on the SIM!
It appears to me that the phone is trying to "capture" the Operator's Settings via radio rather than obtain it from the SIM!
Is there a way I can override the radio search function and get the PDA to "look" at the SIM card? Or maybe try any other method to obtain a data connection.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers, Greg

I'm not too up on this, but I think your X7510 is NOT compatible with the TNZ system. Telstra use a very unusual hybrid of 850/2100 connections where most operators use 850/1900 or 2100 only. One is for upstream and the other for downstream where there are 2 figures.
Although it does support both 850 and 2100Mhz, they are on different frequency bands, so you could have the 850/1900 working OK, but not 850/2100.
What it means in practice is that whichever band you select, you will only get upstream or downstream UMTS connections, not both together. This may be why you see the 'H' but can't connect. In practice, you may only be able to use this phone on the slow GSM network.
Some of the other stuff is setup based, and some info you have been given is simply wrong!
To get the SMS and Voicemail number set, start the phone dialler, and go to Menu/Options/Services then scroll to the bottom setting in the window (VM and SMS) and tap it to highlight, then Get Settings. You may need to manually enter the VM access number you normally dial. Do 'Save to Network' and they should be OK.
For data access, you do not enter any phone numbers- you need to configure the setting as 'Cellular Modem GSM/3G' then enter the Access Point (APN) and any password and username.
It seems Telstra are cagey about publishing the connection parameters but I found this one:
GPRS APN: - telstra.internet
Username: - {blank}
Password: - {blank}
DNS: - 139.130.4.4, 203.50.170.2
As I suspect though, you may only be able to get GSM, not 3G/UMTS

Neil,
You are a Gem! Okay, the first part didn't work, but I can enter the Voicemail as Speed Dial #2 or use the Voice Dial on the Parrot BT; so no real biggy that the X7510 simply will not accept the Telecom Voicemail number.
But I did hit paydirt with your data access suggestion and that was the one that was really important for e-mails and Internet access (as there aren't too many Wi-Fi Hot Spots in sparsely populated New Zealand!!)
Thanks so much for your prompt and excellent response.
Regards,
Greg
You're welcome!
Presumably you are only getting GSM speeds for your email and web access? Or do Tesltra do something different with their band splits to allow full 3G access?
It may be interesting to go to DSL Reports when you have a good signal and see what speed you are getting. You might have to repeat the test with a larger file than the default, but you'll get the correct prompts.
GSM will give you from 25 to about 100kbps (GPRS or Edge), 3G will give up to 300kbps and HSDPA can give up to 2Mbps
I don't know if you can do anything about the incorrect speed dial 1, but at least you have a workaround. Are you sure you manually entered the Voicemail number in the VM box in Options/Services/SMS and Voicemail> Get Settings ? I've just tried this with my X7510 and after editing the VM number, then hitting 'OK' it commits the change to Speed Dial 1 correctly.
[Edit. I can alter my Speed Dial 1 number by opening the Dialler then tapping 'Speed Dial', highlighting SD1 then Menu/Edit which opens the settings screen. Scroll to the bottom of the list to select Voicemail and Text Messages then Get Settings. Manually enter your voicemail access number then tap 'OK' which send the settings to the network and commits the change to SpeedDial 1. If that doesn't work, it may suggest Telstra are blocking the ability to change. ]
Once again, thanks for the prompt reply.
On that speedtest link you gave me I got: - 483, 489 & 319 kbps. This is off the local tower which is a good 20 kms from the city. I'll try in the CBD tomorrow and see what I get.
I had aready tried your suggested methods for locking in the Voicemail number, but to no avail. On my X7510 it's called Voicemail and Text Messages and when you highlight and then Get Settings, it always shows a number for the Text Message Service, but a BIG blank for the Voice Mail!!
Intersting comment you made about the Service Provider possibly blocking the ability to change?? If they are, lil' old me ain't going to get them to change that!
b.t.w. it's Telecom, not Telstra (who although here in NZ, are not a big mobile player like they are in Ausssie). I would guess that in NZ, Telecom has about 45% market share and Vodafone likewise.
I'll be in touch on best speed as at this stage, I appear to be somewhere between 3G and HSDPA?
Cheers,
Greg
ok- your figures are showing a pretty good connection speed so you are definitely in the HSDPA zone!
With regard to the blank box for the VM number: have you actually tried typing your VM number into the box then hitting ok?
Neil,
Yes I have tried typing in the Voicemail number directly under Phone Settings. When I hit OK, it says "Sending new settings to Network" and then comes back with "Cannot Save your changes"
On the speed - I have just picked up the "new" USB data card (for use on the same HSPDA Network) for my laptop and given that a try - wow! Download 6,485 kbs - Upload 1,445 - that's 1.5 x times the speed of my Office copper-wire broadband system. Telecom did promise some pretty impressive speeds and they are delivering (by NZ standards anyway).
I actually think your first summation of the this NZ Network being on 850/2100 (and not compatible with setup on X7510) might be correct Neil as about 545 kbs is the best I can achieve on the X7510. Hey, I can live with that, the other features of the X7510 make up for that and the laptop is never far away if I want to get some real speed!!!
Cheers,
Greg

hmm..interesting read..although I don't want to be on MetroPCS but another coolness to add for Evo
What about verizon?

+1
I would like to know that too
If you really want it on verizon you could ask an authorized verizon retailer to basically do this same thing for you. they love signing people up this way as they get to pocket the normal phone subsidy ($250 on the evo).
does 3g work?
metro 3g...
doesnt metro pcs use sprint towers?

Well you can pretty much get Verizon coverage from that other thread using Altell's towers. Too bad ping gets raised, but hell... way better signal and speedtests

Congratulations buddy!
Thanks a hell of a lot for giving us this how to guide. I really appreciate it
Just had 3 questions:
1) Are you getting 3g data in Atlanta or is it just Edge?
2) What plan did you sign up for at MetroPCS?
3) If you decide you don't like MetroPCS, how do you reverse this process back to Sprint service?
Thanks again for figuring this out

that probably depends on the tower coverage for the specific geographical location ...
i see the directions mention HTC Hero a few times. has anybody confirmed this works on the EVO?
Lol, I just spent all night trying to figure this out and you have made it very easy. Thanks. The Diag Drivers link doesn't work but I am sure we could find it somewhere else.
I do have one question. Do you still need to have a Metro PCS dealer add the ESN to their network?

Yes the ESN needs to be added to Metro's inventory. I had them add it and wallaahhh!
What works and what doesn't?
Can you list what works and what does not? I'm particularly curious about a stable 3G.

Right now talk, text and web are working. Still working on MMS. However I had great 3G reception here in Hotlanta.

I see... so for $50/mo (contract free) I can get the the same things that Sprint is offering me for $80/mo. When you minus the extra cost to buy the phone full retail $449 vs $199 on contract you actually saving about $570 over a two year period...
Hard choice
3G unstable
I have tried many configurations and no matter what I do, it seems that the "mobile network" connection is not stable. It will go out periodically and say "connection failed" or "turning on". Can you verify that you are not having this issue?
Also, this obviously does not bypass the WAP proxy which is used by Cricket. This means that other protocols, such as those used in navigation software and YouTube, are going to be blocked by the proxy server. Does anyone know a way around this?

google around for the droid eris cricket tutorial. that has the proper method to set it up, and it works on all other cdma htc android phones.
i believe it is posted on howardfourms under the cricket section.
I myself was wondering if it was the same because I flashed my evo to cricket the same way just off of flashing know how....going to try and see if the Eris method matches what needs to be done to the evo and will report back

[Q] Questions about hidden settings in Android 2.3

I have quite a few questions some hidden settings I found while using ANYcut app.
My phone is the Epic 4G and on Gingerbread leak EH17 if that matters.
1) MSL code. I did some google searches and found that is an algorithm to determine the ESP and other things. What is the algorithm? If a phone had a bad ESP could you change the MSL to make Sprint think there is a clean ESP?
2) Cell broadcast SMS. What is this? And what is it for? some of the settings are Emergency broadcast, administrative, maintenance, local weather, area traffic reports
general news:
local
regional
national
international
And those same options for other types of news also
3) Data Create. I think this one is self explanatory. But is this for the maximum number of each I can store on the phone before it deletes them. So if i set the maximum number of texts in my inbox to 500, that is the maximum I can store?
4) Dial up networking. I thought this was going to be the 3G but I was wrong. What is it? I turn it on and click on the connection settings but nothing happens why?
5) Dock settings. Its obvious. But I herd that you can connect your phone to the a computer via USB and have it act as a dock and play songs or videos through the speakers on your computer. Is this true?
6) DUN. It has a picture of a computer with 2 green arrows. And 2 progress like bars, labeled, RX and TX. Any ideas? I was thinking it might have to do with USB activity.
7) EVDO settings??? I am on the Sprint network. Why would they not opt this options out of there SDKs? Isnt EVDO T-Mobile network? But I am on a leaked build so maybe they haven't removed it yet?
8) Preconfig? I really not sure what this is. It says sales code and then an input field. And at the bottom a button that says install and one for cancel. What would this be for?
9) License settings. most of the options are obvious but there is one for expiry reminder. whats that? reminds you when your DRM content is going to expire?
10) MMS Provision Settings. some settings are transaction logs, optional field attendance, UA string, UAP url, and test modes. Anyone know what this is for?
11) Now one that is just called advanced. Some options are home orig. vocoder. homepage vocoder, roam orig. vocoder. whats this for?
12) USB Logging(DM) One section is Function, with the options of, enable and disable. And other section called Type. the options are CP only, AP only, CP+AP. No idea about this one
13) WiMAX CT. there is a button at the top that says open device. then options of max num of used FA, FA Index, BW, FA index. Are these settings for WiMAX networking?
14) WiMAX Mode Change. The options are, SDIO, WTM, DM, USB, Auth modes. What are these different modes and what do they do?
15) WiMAX LineTest. Optioins are, write eeprom, power on, power off, write mac with and input field, and read mac. any ideas??
16) Work mode. it says Work Mode :2 and then a button that says set work mode. and i can set it to 1, 2 or 3. what are these different modes for?
Bump - Anybody want to jump in and help the op?
Wow, with all the brilliant minds on here no takers? Or is the question too big for anyone to take a stab at?
First off, as someone who somehow burnt out my 4G chip, I would suggest that anyone reading this be very careful, search here and google before fiddling with settings. lol
Since I am doing research to see if I can get my Wimax to work better I will answer a couple of questions a day, however anyone feel free to jump in.
1) MSL code. I did some google searches and found that is an algorithm to determine the ESP and other things. What is the algorithm? If a phone had a bad ESP could you change the MSL to make Sprint think there is a clean ESP?
The MSL code or (Master Subsidy Lock) is how a phone carrier keeps the phone from going to another network, however some phones including the E4GT can be found through using Android Debug Bridge (adb) a command line tool that lets you communicate with an emulator instance or connected Android-powered device - or even easier just go to the market and download, for free, Get My MSL which will display your Master Subsidy Lock code.
2) Cell broadcast SMS. What is this? And what is it for? some of the settings are Emergency broadcast, administrative, maintenance, local weather, area traffic reports general news:localregionalnationalinternationalAnd those same options for other types of news also
According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
Cell Broadcast is not as affected by traffic load; therefore, it may be usable during a disaster when load spikes tend to crash networks, as the 7 July 2005 London bombings showed. Another example was during the Tsunami catastrophe in Asia. Dialog GSM, an operator in Sri Lanka was able to provide ongoing emergency information to its subscribers, to warn of incoming waves, to give news updates, to direct people to supply and distribution centres, and even to arrange donation collections using Celltick's Cell Broadcast Center, based on Cell Broadcast Technology.
All for today. Peace

[Q] Boost Evo 3D 3g slow speeds! Heeeeeelp!!!!!

Ok I have a Evo 3D flashed to boost. I did it myself. Heres exactly how I flashed it:
1. Activated Incognito Donor and let the prl update.
2. Heres where Im kind of confused. I'm using CDMA Workshop 3.8.3 and qpst and qxdm. I read the nv items. I was told it should take a little while to read them. Mine dont. Takes like 10 seconds to read 465, and 466 and 1 second for 1192,1194. For my range I put 465-1194. Is that what I'm doing wrong? When I read 465-465 it reads very fast. Lastly if I read 465- the numbers already there which is 65535 it gets t0 %76 and says phones does not answer. Does it everytime even when I restart the incognito a million times.
3. I read Nams 1 and 2.
4. Read meid and obtained the SPC Code.
5. I studied profiles 0 and 1 tot he T.
6. Obtained the aa and aaa keys. for profile 1 is the aaa keys 12 digits or 6. That also confused me in the guide.
Evo:
1. **Repaired MEID**
2. Wrote NV Items 465,466,1192,1194. I wrote the NV items that took 15 seconds.
3. Wrote SPC code
4. I didnt write the nam files i just did the ##786# reset then wrote the spc code again and restarted phone and let it activate then canceled the PRL update.
5. Wrote the aa and aaa keys to profiles 0 and 1.
6. fully activated and stuck on 1x data speeds. Im on a stock rom (but even on a 4g evo rooted even tried multiple roms im still on 1x.)
Ive tried some methods such as change the proxy ip to 0.0.0.0 then http proxy port to 0. Didnt help at all.
Also tried going into EVDO and changing it from Automatic to CDMA Only. Still on 1x.
PLEASE HELP IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ANSWERS FOR MONTHS AND NOTHING!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!

Verizon S3 / S4 / S5 / Note 2 / Note 3 to Page Plus Flashing with 3G

I want this to be a thread dedicated to help others to flash the mentioned devices to Page Plus / Selectel / Next-G / Service in REAL 3G....
I have been flashing phones for a several years now as a hobby and want to pass on some of my knowledge and advice to others making this transition.
A few things I want to do when time allows as I work a full time job and have a family.. (Not to mention my Flashing Phone Hobby)
1. Keep a list of PRL's that work with Page Plus with no roaming symbol...
2. Maintain a summary of how to get into Diag Mode on all phones and methods to get your SPC/MSL on Sprint Phones......
3. Post useful Apks,, 16 Digit Passwords, and other instructions on flashing the phones.......
4. Maintain a Current List of Page plus Sids for Flashing..........
5. Make this a thread that people can come to and discuss issues etc....
Now I am not good at writing Guides and truthfully at this time have no desire to do so, but I will however try my best to help you along the way when my time is available. So please I ask do not flood my Inbox with request for a guide etc. (Post here so others can contribute and everyone can learn together)
One thing I have learned over the years of flashing devices is its better to think it through and work by trial and error so you can truly learn the skill of performing successful flashes.
(Please everyone keep it civil and make this a community effort to help each and everyone)
Current Status is that I can pull Keys/Passwords on Verizon S3 / S4 / Note 2, Sprint S2 / S3 /S4 / Note 2, US Cellular S2 / S3 / S4 and Note 2 phones, Plus several other Phones and get REAL 3G with no donor on Page Plus / Selectel / Next-G....
(Again let me stress, please do not flood me with request to show you how to do this, as currently I will not post this information, I have my reasons and I hope you can respect that and use this thread for the other benefits you can get from it)
** Note: I did not include Verizon Prepaid or Straight Talk in this due to my beliefs that the cloning of esns/meids to obtain service is not LEGAL **

What is a PRL and what it does:
PRL=(Preferred Roaming List)
The PRL is a list of information that resides in the memory of some kinds of digital phones. It lists the radio frequencies the phone can use in various geographic areas.
The part of the list for each area is ordered by the bands the phone should try to use first. Therefore it's a kind of priority list for which towers the phone should use.
The PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network
has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.
Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should,
both with the home network and for roaming.

Android 4.3 Upgrade Methods for Verizon and Sprint Phones
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THESE FILES AND ATTEMPT UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
THIS WILL LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER FOREVER NO GOING BACK TO PREVIOUS VERSIONS EVER
Let me stress that anytime you flash either with ODIN or normal methods you take the chance of BRICKING your device.
SO be sure you know what you are doing as I am not responsible for anything that may go wrong.....
These will wipe your devices and bring the phone back to like is what was brand new, and should not affect your flash, but then again do at your own risk.....

3.At this point please make sure that ONLY TWO OPTIONS TICKED are "Auto Reboot" and "F.Reset Time" (otherwise you could end up with a very expensive paperweight)
4. Select the PDA button in the Odin program: Direst it to the tar file that you are using to upgrade the one you downloaded for your device......
5. Plug your Phone into the computer, wait for the drivers to install and then wait for the ID:COM section to turn blue in ODIN.

Things Not To Do With A Flashed Phone
1. NO OTA Android Updates Period (You will break your flash)
2. No OTA Programming *228, *22890, *22800, *22801 or any other Variants
3. Some Rom's do not play well with Flashed Phones do your research before flashing.
4. Never do a RTN (Return to Network) Reset ##786# on a Flashed Device (Most definitely will break your flash)
5. Some Radios/Modems cause issues if you flash (If the phone is working leave it be)
6. Factory Reset ( I recommend not to do this also, some versions of Android phones it will break things period)
7. PRLS ..... aww my favorite, everyone thinks these are the answer to all their prayers
a. If the phone is working leave it be (my personal stance)
b. Some PRL's are not EVDO or have not been Modded and will break your 3G or throw the Roaming Symbol
c. I have posted many PRL's above that will work with 3G (Latest one I modded is 60007 for all carrier phones)
8. No Phone Number Change (You change your carrier assigned number, you must reflash)

Why Is My 3G Data Slow?
It's a complaint I hear everyday from people using flashed smartphones performed by them or another flashing provider...
Why are my speeds so slow and is it possible to improve the situation?
There are a variety of reasons why 3G data speeds may be less than stellar, and each one requires a different solution.
Before assuming there's a problem, though, make sure you understand the realistic capabilities of your service.
VERIZON/Page Plus/Selectel:
2G 1xRTT: 50-100kbps download and upload with bursts to 144 kbps
3G EVDO Rev-A: (shows up as "3G" on your phone): 600-1400kbps download with bursts to 3Mbps, 200-800kbps upload with bursts to 1.8Mbps
(Don't get to caught up in running speedtest as these can be very confusing and fool you at times into thinking you have a problem when actually
the way they test and the servers they use get congested also)
POTENTIAL PROBLEM #1: Weak signal
If you're too far away from the tower (or if there are a lot of obstructions/interference between you and the tower), your device won't be able
to pick up a strong signal and your performance will suffer.
Solution: Try other locations in your home or area you are in, some areas do not get great signal strength and this could be your issue.
POTENTIAL PROBLEM #2: Tower overcrowding (Network Congestion)
The bandwidth available from a cell tower is shared amongst all the users connecting to the tower. A cell tower can only provide so much bandwidth,
and the more users there are connecting to the tower, the slower everyone's speeds will be.
Is this YOUR problem? If you notice that your speeds tend to follow a pattern most days (for example, nice and fast late at night or early in the day but slower in the evening when everyone is home from work and school) and you've confirmed that the problem isn't signal-related (by testing your speeds at home and then again somewhere closer to the tower), you'll know your tower is simply being used by lots of other subscribers at the same time.
Solution: Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about this (other than consider switching to a different provider who might have more capacity at their towers or isn't as oversold in your area).
POTENTIAL PROBLEM #3: Incorrectly Performed Flash
It's very common for flashed phones to have been done incorrectly.
Is this YOUR problem? This is very possibly the source of the problem if your flash was done incorrectly or you made changes to your setup recently.
Solution: You'll need to either troubleshoot the phone and or reflash the problem phone.
POTENTIAL PROBLEM #4: Tower issues
Providers periodically do maintenance or upgrade work on cell towers, which can disrupt service; other factors like severe weather occasionally damage cell towers and cause problems.
Is this YOUR problem? If your service suddenly degrades significantly and doesn't improve much during non-peak hours (which it would if the problem was overcrowding), and you've confirmed it's not a problem with your flash, the problem likely lies with the tower. The best way to confirm is to take your device several miles away where you'll be connecting to a different tower and test there — if everything works fine when connected to a different tower, you'll know something is amiss with your home tower.
Solution: Out of your control, bear with it until the provider finishes work and repairs.....
Potential Problem #5: Sprint and USSC Devices
I hate to say it but I have seen some Sprint/USSC phones have this issue, likely due to weaker radios and or hardware implemented in the device.
Is this YOUR problem? This is very possibly the source of the problem if your flash was done correctly and you verify that other devices on the network in the same location as yours get consistently better data speeds.
Solution: Verify flash is correct and that your connected at EVDO in settings and passwords have passed authentication. If so this most likely a Sprint/USSC device issue out of control by the user. Replace device with another Cellphone Carrier brand and most of the time problem will be solved. (I see this allot with some of the Samsung S3 Devices from Sprint/USSC, almost like certain lots had a weak radio for whatever reason)
In the end your speeds can be related to any or all of these issues, and a proper flash is key to performing at optimal speeds.
Sometimes as much as we hate to admit a professional flasher is needed to correct speed issues, you would not believe some of the poor flashes I see when I read preflashed phones everyday that so called profesSB_Driver_1.5.1

Flashing help
I have 2 phones that I need to get flashed over to pageplus. 1 Galaxy S2 sch-R760 and 1 Galaxy S2 sph-D710. I have been reading and trying to find complete tuts or a reasonably priced service to get these flashed over but no one seems to be able to get 3g working. The R760 I had flashed to PP but I only get 1x data speeds. I have not tried to do the D710 yet. My wife and I are already on pageplus with a DroidX and a Droid X2 so I guess during the flashing process you have to get or PP telephone numbers on the phones since you cannot do a normal ESN swap with customer support on flashed phones. Can anyone help?

Viper,
I have sent you a PM on this. I have been trying to get it to work by reading through the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696621 but to no avail. Appreciate if you could help. I am ok with not having 3G if the solution is not complicated.

Ill send you a pm. I would like to get this working for my wife. I love to tinker and have flashed old VZW phones when we first came to PP, but time is limited for me.
Thanks!
