I have finally, successfully, gotten jt1134's device tree and Froyo framework all configured for the Mesmerize. This is a Vanilla Froyo (no Cyanogenmod) build and works enough to play around with (= But, I should warn you, this isn't a terribly stable build, so don't freak out if something acts weird d= Also, I'm not responsible for any harm you may do to your devices..
It's late and I have an 8:00 am tomorrow so I haven't tested everything out yet, but what is working and not working should be similar to what jt1134 has listed over in his Fascinate thread. Here's what I've tried though:
Working:
Phone
SMS
GPS
WiFi
Not Working:
Data?
Bluetooth
Camera
sdcard?
Oh, and it may randomly 'boot loop' a few times.. don't freak out though.
For this to work you need to be using the Mesmerize Froyo kernel I recently posted. To get everything setup just download the ROM and the Kernel and put them on your sdcard. Boot into recovery and make a backup. Wipe your data and cache partition. Flash the ROM. Flash the Kernel. Reboot. Froyo! If you're going to try to adopt this ROM for everyday use (good luck), make sure you grab the GApps package and flash that last.
I haven't got a Mesmerize device tree on github yet, but you can find the alterations to the kernel up. Really, you should look at jt's source/github because that's where all the dirty work is done (= Also, some of his work is under ModADroid on github.

Mesmerize Vanilla Froyo ROM: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/464066/Mesmerize/ROMs/froyo_mesmerize_0122.zip
Mesmerize Froyo Voodoo Kernel: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/464066/Mesmerize/Kernels/0123_mesmerize_voodoo5.zip
I'll post a link to a nonvoodoo kernel when I get one compiled.
Froyo GApps: http://goo-inside.me/google-apps/gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip
Be careful!! This kernel is named the same as jt's Voodoo Sound 2.1 Kernel that he released yesterday. You may want to rename one of the two if you plan on using both. The ROM will bootloop or freeze at the lockscreen if you mistakenly use a 2.1 kernel (=

Perhaps if we get a to a final release or beta then. I don't think you'll be wanting to employ this for everyday use until we get more issues fixed.

It was definitely fun to play with, but yeah, as for everyday use, there is still work to do. Hopefully soon though. I know I'll be digging in some more tonight to see if I can find anything fixes.
be glad to help test things once you get a little bit more stable with this.

The sdcard issue is just a problem with the init.rc I think.. but we'll see whats still not working after I get jt's latest source built and we can work from there.

I think it has to do with the mounting. It looked the same as the other init.rc's that I was looking at, but it was all running together at that point last night. I'll dig into it some more tonight and look at the mounting of the base init file and see what I can come up with. Hopefully something will jump out.
Dont pull bin/vold from a prebuilt image, make sure you're building the aosp version. Also, make sure you are pulling prebuilt/vold.fstab from my device repo.
Android uses the vold daemon and fstab files to manage sdcard mounts, not a simple mount command like the ones used in init.rc for other partitions.

No, you also need to revert to a 2.1 kernel as well. I mean 2.1 will boot on this kernel, but I can't say that it will work perfectly, and I found my scdard still didn't after a restore until I reverted kernels.
So restoring doesn't change the kernels, just the rom?

What you should do is download jt1134's Mesmerize Voodoo5 w/ Voodoo Sound kernel and flash it. You should then take a backup in perfect working order. If you want to play with 2.2, wipe, flash the rom, then kernel. When you're done, wipe, restore the backup, then flash the previous kernel.
Gotcha. Ha, I just found out about voodoo sound. That'll be tonights project, then 2.2 tomorrow hate this edge network junk

Sweet waiting for a few more things to be functioning before I try using it. Thought maybe about trying to tomorrow but only as a test.
Edit: I just flashes the ROM and Kernel last night 0 problems booting and starting up phone was basically functioning then when I installed the Froyo Gapps I couldn't use the phone anymore because no data connection couldn't get passed the google account setup but seemed to work.
The only thing that was weird is before I installed the gapps zip while playing around the phone kept going back to the silver Android logo seeming as if it was restarting and going back to the lock screen but I managed to test the Phone, called 611 got US Cellular so that works!
Thanks again for your work I definitely and looking forward to this.
Big thanks to the devs! This is an awesome step forward. I flashed the ROM and Kernel, and although it's definitely alpha, it's awesome progress!

It's pitiful that team of hobbyists and enthusiasts, working for free, in their spare time can port 2.2 faster than Samsung, who employs a full staff of software and hardware engineers, armed with development tools and source code. SAMSUNG, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

Samsung could have rolled out an firmware update but from what I've read they leave it up to the carriers to decide when they roll out updates.. especially OTAs since its on their end. US Cellular does spend a large amount of time testing their phones before releasing anything because their still small business orientated. That said, they easily could have rolled something out for us much earlier than this, as far as the small business goes they could have released it un-supported to commercial users and told business' not to load it yet plus not shipped any phones with it.. at least we'd have the option then..

First of all lets give thanks to those that helped me out and made this happen. Phidelt82, thanks for hosting the downloads. Thanks goes to dfgas and bdemartino (irc names) for helping me test it for mes and work out some otherwise un-noticed kinks. Thanks goes to dfgas for getting me the neccessary mesmerize files. Thanks to the many mirrors/host sites people have allowed me to use. Thanks to all other testers who I can not remember their names at this moment (PM/email me and you'll get put in this list). Thanks jt1134 for all the work you put in on the fascinate rom lately, you've had me playing catch up, because though I strive, I can't be as fast as you. Thanks to lmartin92, for dedicating time, energy, and learning through the entire experience and making these builds happen (that's me)
I believe these releases are as stable as jt1134's.
Here's whats in them.

Flash like you normally flash other aosp roms. Does not convert lagfix and if you convert to non-lagfix you will be stuck until flashing a 2.1 or 2.2 rom and installing a kernel capable of lagfixing.

Glad this got ported so the rest of the i500 family can enjoy, btw lmartin92, which otb kernel version are you using, 1.3 or 1.5?
Oh, yeah, .
Wait so can we flash this in 2.5 red voodoo? I'm a little confused.
Sent from my SCH-I500
If we flash this with voodoo enabled it will stay enabled because we can't turn it off with this ROM, right? If we leave voodoo enabled can we flash back to heinz with voodoo still enabled without taking too much of a risk? Thanks for the ROM and all the work put into it.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
It is always safest to disable voodoo before flashing any ROM.
You can leave lagfix enabled when you flash this ROM. You will need to flash ODIN to go back and then you can apply any backups you have done.
I've been running this since about 12 last night. It's running amazing. 2045 Quadrant, no FC's, everything is running smooth. Great job!!

No, do not flash stock in odin with lagfix enabled or you will have issues. If you keep lagfix on and flash this, you will then need to return to H57 or Pick and Pack in order to disable lagfix before using odin to go to stock.
The custom recovery included with this is CWM 3 and is only compatible with edify scripts, however, since all the theme's and rom's (for H57 and this CM7) are made with edify scripts, it's safe to start using as everything going forward will be done in edify.
Lmartin, thanks again for taking your time to create this native build, and for setting us up with a build environment!
Yes listen to bdemartino, trust me, if lagfix is enabled and you flash stock via odin you will have alot of issues. I've been there and its not fun.

I was able to use advanced restore to load my data from that build (the kang by dfgas and I)
Flash ROM, then gapps - then you could use the advanced restore so that you don't have to restore your data/apps and system settings etc (assuming you have a nandroid of that build).
For anyone wondering about theme's, you can use any HDPI theme from this list;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056292
They are installed as an .apk then selected with theme chooser, sometimes a reboot is required (or you can get the notification restart app from the market to restart the notification bar with no reboot.)
Does this version of CM7 still have the verizon logos in it? Or did someone finally replace them and put U.S. Cellular logos

Flashing the stock font should work. Have you tried manually dripping them in the font folder and rebooting. I'll look at it in the morning. Maybe I zipped up the wrong fonts.

I will definately try this out when I get home! Thanks again for all you do for the epic comunity. One question, and I apologize if it is stupid. I know this says rfs only, but is there any way to convert this to ext4? Your roms have always been of highest quality and exactly what I'm looking for, but the EE03 rom feels really slow and I know it has to do with rfs. I tried the only ef02 ext4 rom I could find and it was fast, but I had too many problems with GPS and other things. Thanks again, and I am autisim aware because of you.

The kernel has to be modded to support ext4. I'm not a kernel guy. I could possibly borrow the bonsai kernel but we all know where that would lead. I think this leak is better then EE03 was. At this point, when the OTA hits EXT4 will be available. However, this still feels pretty quick to me. I don't even use an Epic cause I'm using the Nexus S 4G but have this on my wife's phone and I don't notice much of a difference. I tend to ignore the benchmarks and go with how it feels in the real world.
While this build or leak isn't perfect it does seem pretty solid.
Welcome to a new and sick, twisted world
Ever wish you could take one of those nice shiny GalaxyS (i9000) ROMs and flash it to your lovely Infuse? Well now you CAN! Yes, I say GO AHEAD and flash away. With LinuxBozo's magic Hellraiser, you can raise a little hell with any JVQ based i9000 ROM on your Infuse.
How's it work?
Select any JVQ based ROM for the i9000. If you don't know what this is, then this is not for you.
Push your selected ROM to your /sdcard
Download Hellraiser below
Push Hellraiser to your /sdcard
Reboot into Recovery (RED RECOVERY PREFERRED)
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Flash your chosen JVQ ROM
Flash Hellraiser immediately after
Reboot and enjoy your JVQ ROM goodness
PLEASE NOTE: I am not responsible if something goes wrong. Seriously. If you don't flash Hellraiser correctly, you can be left with a phone that needs to be returned to stock with Odin or Heimdall. If you don't know how to do this, this is not for you.
FAQ:
Do I need to disable Voodoo Lagfix?
Nope.
Can I flash JVO/JVR/JVP ROMs as well?
You should be able to, but I only tested with JVQ. So you are on your own there.
Can I flash i9000 Kernels with this?
NO
Can I flash other Infuse Kernels, like Infusion to get OC/UV?
YES. Neat, huh?
Can I flash i9000 CM7 or MIUI with this?
NO. This will only work with Samsung based ROMs
Can I flash Samsung based Captivate ROMs as well?
Has been successfully done by at least one person. Make sure you use a Samsung based Gingerbread ROM.
Which ROM do you recommend?
Which one you choose really is a matter of preference. However, I tested with Sensation from Crysis21: http://is.gd/D5LJm6
How does this work behind the scenes? How is this even possible?
What Hellraiser does is flash in appropriate hardware libraries and userspace applications, and the Infuse specific modem (UCKE3) and kernel. This allows the existing i9000 ROM to work on the Infuse all while still thinking it's an i9000, but addressing the Infuse hardware.

What is Hellraiser? Any links?
I figure it allows you to put i9000 roms on it, but only certain kinds?
Does this allow me to put a fully functional GB rom on my Infuse? If so, how's this different than your work with porting over CM7?
Nice to see another dev is using a Q&A thread. stickied.
Hey man, Great Work!
I was wondering, does HellRaiser works with 100% of the Infuse's hardware?
I'm asking because I am aware you've been fixing the Bluetooth/GPS modules to bring that functionality to CM7.
So, is hellraiser a 100% hardware thing or does it have the same issues with bluetooth and voodoo sound driver than the unofficial CM7?
Thanks in advance and apologies if this question has been addressed somewhere else.

There's more detail in development. Read there, ask here.
Define "fully functional"? With the exception of HDMI and data speed issues in some areas, ROMs derived from the Rogers Gingerbread release were fully functional.
Since the low-level video/audio/etc stuff from Hellraiser is derived from that same ROM, the same limitations apply.
But it lets you take any i9000 ROM based on the Samsung Gingerbread release (tested with an XXJVQ-based ROM) and use it on the Infuse.
It will NOT work for getting anything CM7-based from the i9000 to work. CM7 has a very different low-level architecture than Samsung ROMs (which is, for example, why Bluetooth still isn't working in CM7 on the Infuse.)
I'm sure LB will still be working CM7, but every once in a while you need to take a break and do something else. LB, gtg, and Mikey have been working this off and on for a few weeks. CM7 was getting more focus, but there's only so much bashing your head against the CG2900 driver that a man can take before you go do something else for a bit. Hellraiser is the result of LB taking a break from Bluetooth.
It works AMAZING. It opens up a world of i9000 and Captivate roms for us to flash.
So far Blockbuster, Mosaic, and Darky's worked perfect.
Hellraiser
would somebody mind posting the full mediafire link for hellraiser please ... for some reason the is.gd link isn't working for me. Ty.

Yes. It's quite a bit easier to go from Samsung ROM to Samsung ROM than it is switching over to something that's completely open source like CM7. Samsung uses many closed source drivers, which we can drop into other Samsung ROMs based around the original GalaxyS platform, like the i9000 and the Captivate.
Thanks

Right now Infused 2.0.2 has been my ROM of choice because it's fast and I can't find a single thing wrong with it but if there's a compelling reason to check out some of the i9000 ROMs I might do so!

Right now Infused 2.0.2 has been my ROM of choice because it's fast and I can't find a single thing wrong with it but if there's a compelling reason to check out some of the i9000 ROMs I might do so!
Also kudos to LB this is a really clever idea

I am running the one LB was running, Sensation. I gotta say its soo much smoother than 2.0.x.... I was on 2.0.1 through 4... and they just didnt seem to be right.. gtg knows his stuff but until GB is official on our phones this is the next best thing right now. battery life is awesome also, been unplugged since 3am its 1pm now, with calls, bt, wifi im at 75%
Infused is one of the best roms that I've ever used, fast, great battery life. But, I had a Captivate before that. And just seeing those Cappy roms on our big screen is neat. Nothing life-changing, just neat. If you're a tinkerer and enjoy playing around with roms, this is a must.

If I do a backup of my current setup (Infused 2.0.2 and bedwa GB kernel) from ROM Manager will that give me a complete snapshot of the phone that I can return to if I don't like SensatioN + Hellraiser?

I would say that yes, if you reboot into recovery manually, and took a backup directly in Red CWM it would. I wouldn't trust Rom Manager to do it for you.
I get this error
THE PROCESS ANDROID.PROCESS.ACORE HAS STOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY. PLEASE TRY AGAIN.
why is this poping up?
thanks ppl and if this has been aswered disregard my post and I will keep searching for the answer

Can't really help without more information, but, I would say, you forgot to Wipe Data.

Sensation ROM + Hellraiser
Installed Sensation ROM + Hellraiser + Infusion GB. Power button menu does not have Reboot, Recovery, etc...only Silent, Data Network Mode, Flight Mode, and Power Off. Any ideas??

They have to be enabled. Open Theme Settings app, Phone Options dialog at the bottom.
Obviously, as with everything here, you SHOULD take caution before flashing this. However, if you DON'T, and something goes wrong, then it is in no way my or anyone else's fault.
I rebuilt this ROM.
What's changed:
-Updated the kernel to version v0.0.2. (nubecoder)
-Added the 3G/1x icon fix. (SenseiSimple)
-Added Hotspot hack. (Tortel1210/Necrosan)
-Added the Camera sound fix. (IcePlanet)
-Removed some Sprint/Samsung bloat (suggest more to remove if you want).
-Added CRT off.
-Added a 1% battery mod.
And of course, the old goodies:
-Deodexed
-noCIQ (k0nane)
-LogsProvider Fix (Tortel1210)
-GPS Fix (hienkhieu)
-Extended Power Menu (untermensch (I also borrowed the icons for the menu from him. Hope you don't mind!))

Video from qbking77:

Update 4 (added Extended Power Menu)
Update 3 (added LogsProvider fix)
Update 2 (added noCIQ)
Update 1 (added GPS Fix)

I think you're legally obligated to actually...
And it's been up for a while, mainly in the general section, I just hadn't had enough posts to put it in the development section lol.
As for the modem, you can use whichever you want.

Not at all.
I don't know if this os a noob question or not...but can EH17 KERNELS be used with this build....the reason I ask is because in proir GB leaks there was some cross-compatability between builds that some themes could be used with...so im thinking would it work the same for kernels

I would say wait until the ODIN prerooted w/ CWM comes along. Then base with that and flash custom ROMs as they release and appear worthy.
I am running EXT4 now, so do I need to flash the convert to RFS script first?
Just an FYI, GPS fix works for this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321049
I was only locking 3 of 9 and after flashing this locked 9 of 9 in about 4 seconds

I'm not entirely sure. This comes with nubernel, which was made for EH17, and I don't think any modifications were done to it to get it to work, so I suppose they can.

Shouldn't have to. The kernel supports EXT4.

Thanks for confirming that. I also noticed the suckish GPS and was wondering about this.
Anyone think I should include the GPS Fix?

I believe the nubernel is actually an EI22 kernel. It was created from the source that we saw in October that was later taken down, which is identical to the new EI22 source that is currently up. So technically we were running EH17 leak with EI22 kernel before. I may be wrong but this is how I understand it.

Oh. That's very true. Thanks for that correction.
Ive added this post to my How to root after getting the OTA or Google Install post over on the general forums. Thanks for putting this up. If you flash it over the stock install it works and runs perfectly as well as makes CWM permanent.

Thank you for adding it there. And you're quite welcome.
Source earlier and source now are identical, so the only way it wouldn't work is if the devs had to add something to make it work with EH17, than in turn only works with EH17.
I don't think that's the case, and I'm running nubernel problem free thus far.
