This may sound stupid, but I really can't find the original music.apk from Froyo. I erased it by accident and just want the original one back. I don't want the one from HTC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm running rooted stocked 2.1...5 with this mod installed. I tried to put it in the system/app folder because there is some room in there, since I removed some apps, but it did not like it. It just kept foreclosing it.
Any idea how to put it in there or even replace the original HTC_IME?
could have something to do with it being made for the nexus one

i've made one from there, and installed it. I didn't push it to /system/app.
try doing that.
also make sure you are using the low res option.

First make sure you downloaded the "lo" version, since Hero is low-res. And unpack the ZIP. It's not flashable, it's just zipped for convenience.
And then you can just install HTC_IME_lo.apk from your file manager by clicking it. There's no need to manually push it into /system/app. (It's registered differently from the default HTC_IME, so it can be installed like any normal application.) If you removed Clicker.apk while you were removing junk from /system/app, you'll need to reinstall that as well.
If you really want to replace the original HTC_IME, just rename HTC_IME_lo.apk to HTC_IME.apk and push it to /system/app. I think that's what you were trying to do before.
Hope this helps!
Oh, sorry I guess I forgot to mention that it is running fine in the user folder after installing it. It's just that I wanted to put in the system/app folder to save some space. I'll try renaming it and replacing with the stocked file. BTW, I'm typing on it now and its way better than the stocked because of how much customization you can do.
I finally tied this and it's a no go. Still get FC messages. However, all seems fine when I install it as an app. I think it's because the HTC_IME.odex file which is tied to the original. Even after rebooting it didn't work.
Anyone know how to get that odex file from the new HTC_IME I'm trying to install in the system/app folder?
Does anyone have a collection of stock Evo sounds? I just installed a new rom that has new sounds, none of which I like.
If someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.
Ok. Nevermind. I found it, guys.
I downloaded the stock ROM, unzipped it, and pushed the system\media\audio folder (via ADB) to the phone.
Does anyone know a way to change the stock contact app in the epic to the factory android one?
Not quite sure if it will work, but it'll be worth a try...
Try downloading the Nexus 1 version of CM6, extracting it, and pulling the contacts.apk out of the /system/app/ folder.
Copy this into your /system/app/ folder on your phone and delete the built in one.
Be sure to back it up first in case it doesn't work!!!!! You can just copy it back if it doesn't.
Again, I'm not sure if it will work, since CM6 is de-odex'd...
Hey guys,
I have been trying out a few themes, and now would like to get the stock HTC Sense Weather Clock on top of the theme I have.
Problem is, I cannot find a flashable Zip of that anywhere. The closest thing I found had a transparent background and the stock white flip clock. Can someone please help me get the complete stock clock back that is preferably flashable?
Thank you very much in advance for your help!
Go rip it out of a stock rom.
Thank you for your response. Can you please tell me how I can do that?
Much appreciated Sir...
Sure man.
All roms are, are zips, so just open the zip and take the apk out of system/app/
Then, just adb push it to the system/app/ folder on your phone.
Way easy.
Thanks TJ,
I guess my question, if I were to elaborate more, would have been, exactly what files would I need to restore the clock back?
As in, the HTC Clock apk gonna be enough for me to get the old clock back, as in its appearance?
I am a novice to the Android world, but I would imagine the apk itself might not do much to appearance, but more just the functionality and the logic of the widget.
You are of course more knowledgeable, so can you confirm the files I would need to restore?
Thank you again for your help!
Yea, if you just push the HtcClockWidget.apk to the folder, it'll show up in your widget selection again.
However, the look of it is going to depend on your theme, and how the images in the com.htc.resources.apk are edited, because it has a lot of image files that the htc widgets pull from.
Does anyone have aosp mms that i can put on stock rooted froyo rom? If possible phone and contacts but really want the mms. I HATE the stupid bubbles.
EDIT:
Thanks guys, it worked. I had to restart a couple times though as its was crashing (I think renaming the odex to mmso.odexo helped as well). For everyone else who doesn't want to risk a custom rom, but hate the bubbles below is the APK I used. I made sure to place a copy of the orig as mmso.apko and mmso.odexo in the system/app folder in case something happens you can just go back.
I might be trying contacts later as that is a mess too, but for now this makes the phone 100x better to deal with (wife texting me all the time).
The MMS.apk from CM7 is totally compatible (or CM6 if you're on Froyo). You just drop it into /system/app/

Hey, could you possibly explain in further detail? I've managed to find CM6.1.1 for the Desire somehow and extracted the mms.apk like you said but when I go to install it says "There is a problem parsing the package". I've renamed the stock mms.apk and moved it somewhere else and have even tried rebooting. Nothing works.
I really liked your Serendipity Rom but had to move back to a Froyo based rom because of some issues. I tried moving S7's mms.apk at first but I got the same error. Thanks for your time.

copy, move, drop... is there a difference? I extracted the .zip onto my PC, found the mms.apk from /system/app/ and copied it to my phone.
Just found Serendipity 6.4 for the Captivate. Bout to try that .apk out.

YES!!! It worked! Just replaced the stock MMS with Serendipity's. Alas, it looks nothing like S7. Oh well. So I'm guessing the "parsing" error is due to incompatibility with OS versions?
Nevermind lol. I just messed with the settings and oh how I've missed the way this looks. Very clean, simple, and streamlined... with no bubbles! Awesome! Thanks for the help!

If u just put it in system app and set permissions rwrr and reboot its much easier...most system apps wont simply let you install..
