If you didn't do a nandroid backup before the fission rom then I don't think you can get back to stock without the SBF. The SBF is taking it's good time to be released, but it can't be long now.
If you did do a backup, reroot with z4, get clockwork, and restore it. then you can unroot and remove clockwork.

Ok,
So i recently upgraded to the newest gingerbread release (4.5.588.MB810.Verizon.en.US) It has since been rooted but I am not quite sure how to go about getting it rooted. Do I need to SBF back to a lower firmware and go back up or is there an easier way? I have a bootloader version 30.04 so im not quite sure which SBF i need to be using so that I dont brick my phone. If you guys could include links to what I need to be using that would be great.
I really appreciate all of your time.
Thanks,

Yes you need to be on the latest Froyo firmware which 2.3.340 so you have to SBF . Just go to My Droid World and search for Gingerbread 2.3.3 and you see lots of threads which give you a complete break down of how to do it .

You can't use the system only file to sbf you have to have the complete SBF which you can find on MDW like stated above

no, it will start to smoke and emit huge sparks that will get into your eyes, rendering your g2x useless to you,so i'll take it.

Yes, but not with Superoneclick as it doesn't work with the update from LG. Assuming you have Clockwork Mod Recovery through NVflash, (great instructions http://www.techofweb.com/technology/flashing-cwm-recovery-g2x.html , simply flash a pre-rooted version of this update from xboarder54 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748
1 click nvflash app to install clock work .
download rooted 2.33 rom or nandriod backup and flash
in clock work.
works fine..
now i have updated baseband on cm7 rom

trying to restore LG-P999-V10f/--i get--MD5 mismatch while trying to unroot. I already restored to a nandroid running 2.2 can I just run the LG update or must I unroot in order to update baseband? Will I be able to unroot if I update using LG (I have DW model). Help please.
Funny thing is I have been with Android since the G1. I have yet to root any of my android phones. I know, I'm a noob. I'm trying to learn how to root my G2x recently but want to make sure I find something solid so my phone will work 100% or close to that. Now that we have GB, I would assume the devs are updating their ROMs so I'm reading up to see what's the new or hot ROM for the G2x. If anyone can point me in the right direction or have some time to school this noob - I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Can someone please help me with this? I used the LG Updater because Gingerbread is out now and it says im already updated but i still have froyo. My g2x is rooted.
Bring your g2x back to stock rom u can get it from the forums in g2x development as long as ur in Stock u can upgrade using ur phones software update/about phone. It works i did it yesterday
As long as ur in stock it doesnt matter if ur phone is rooted.
yes u must have the stock rom and stock recovery, so no cwm! and i was also rooted
I had CWM it worked fine, afterwards I didn't have cwm anymore.

put back stock recovery and unroot

I have a 2 month old Moto defy in India. Things were good till I updated to the official froyo update. Now the GPS does not work. This, I believe is a widely reported issue.
With no official updates in sight, the easiest thing to do would be to root and install a custom rom. However that would void the warranty and any claims that I may have to make at a later date.
I understand that if I install the GB roms, I can not go back.
Is there a way that I root, install some custom froyo rom and in case I need to return the phone revert it back to the factory state?
yes.you can root it & return back through stock system recovery.
Can you please point me how to go about it?
start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
why don't you try cm7. its GB and you can still go back.
I remember reading somewhere that you can't go back from gb. Is it only for the official leaked gb?

no, its not official, its a mod on froyo base, so you can go back. but this is a dev forum, please post threads here about development, everything else goes in defy general!
Thank you for the help.
Of course root. Unroot is easy and you still can return to stock rom after flashing custom rom.
Thanks everyone. Rooted and installed cm7. Snappy. Great going so far.
so im using a costom rom but would like to go back to stock but have my phone rooted, how would i do that?

Stock means it's the ROM the phone ships with or can be normally updated to... which is either 2.3.3, or 2.3.4.

There's a nandroid of stock 2.3.3 and you can root with super one click, or flash one of the stock ROMs... and it'll usually say " stock" in the title. 2.3.4 if on the new baseband.
Also, you can do some searching... won't hurt.
The method i beleve you have to go by depends on what version you opened the box with.
I started with 2.3
Please only use this as a reference and a reasurence, do a little more searching to find a better guide.
First you restore the backup from the development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274
Then you need to restore stock recovery with NVFlash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Once at this point you can unroot with super one click
now go here http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-P999
and click software updates and drivers then follow the instructions to get back to 100% factory.
THIS IS BY NO MEANS A HOW TO
this is just what i have done in the past.
I know this says update to new baseband but following the directions will take you back to stock, lose root and all:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674901
Similar method to what urfate posted.
