ADW.Launcher Issue - G Tablet General

Having a strange issue with ADW.Launcher. From time to time, I will get a white dialog box in the upper right hand corner, almost like it is announcing a notification of some sort, but it's just an empty write box. I think it's triggered by me moving an icon around, but letting it "slip" and not moving it enough, but I'm not really sure. In any case, once that one dialog box appears, nothing short of a reboot will get rid of it. Moreover, I notice that the tablet will freeze up for a few moments at a time as well.
This is on a stock tablet with the Enhancement Pack. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm having it too with stock+enh pack 2. It looked as you said like a dialog box, so I tried to press anything that would usually make one - turning the wifi off seems to fix it. Don't ask me why. For now I think I'll switch back to LauncherPro until this is worked out.

This happened to me as well. I currently have adw.launcher EX 1.2.2 running on Tntlite 5.0.0
There is a launcher action called "open notifications" that is the default action associated with one of the launcher gestures -- either up swipe or down swipe (sorry, i don't have the gtab in front of me at the moment). I just made sure i changed that configuration to use a different action.
I have found that when the empty open notification window is there, weird things happen. Setup seems to not work consistently for example.
Also, I swear that I have seen this issue on previous versions of ROMs and not just tntlite 5.0.0.
I don't have a reasonable fix for this other than "don't open notifications". I did try the latest ADW Notifier but that didn't work.

I've seen this too. That's a great explanation of what it is.
Turning off that gesture makes perfect sense.

GO Launcher EX users beware

I love my Thunderbolt. And, until yesterday I loved Go Launcher EX. But that changed.
I had an emergency. I won't go into details but if any of you have been in an emergency then you know that you need to act quick to quell the onset of panic.
I pulled out my Thunderbolt. It was bright daylight. Hard to see the display. I normally have the brightness set at 30% to save battery. So it took a few seconds for me to find the icon I keep on the home page to change the brightness from the normal 30% to the full 100%.
Whew! I found it and could now see the screen clearly. I need to call 911 as panic is starting to build up.
I have Go Launcher Ex installed and love its flexibility. On the bottom of the phone Go Launcher EX installs 5 icons. The first one is phone, the next one contacts, etc.
I look at the bottom row. Instead of phone, contacts, etc. I see 5 icons but they are all the same. They are all just a large + sign. (That's Plus Sign).
Pressing on them takes me to, I think, a configuration screen of some kind. I don't really remember now because panic is starting to set in since I can't dial 911, or anything else for that matter. I CAN'T GET TO MY FRIGGIN' PHONE. HELP ME, I'm thinking. What the eff is going on here. How do I solve this? Quick, think of something! FAST! NOW! HELP ME!
I do the only thing I know how to do to fix the phone. I hold down the power button and press RESET. Panic is swelling. I know it will take a minute or so for the phone to reset but the worst fear is that I still won't be able to use the phone if GO Launcher EX is still acting up.
During the reboot time I try to calm myself. I try to think of how to kill Go Launcher EX and get back to the HTC stock page. Do I go into settings and delete in the app? How the heck do I get into settings if the buttons don't work? HELP ME!
Finally, after what seemed to be an hour but was only probably 90 seconds or so, the phone lock screen is displayed. I swipe it down with anxiety hoping I don't see five plus signs and hoping it's back to normal. I can see the normal icons including the phone icon. Whew! what a relief. I press the phone icon but it says no coverage. I try to stay calm. I press the phone icon again and now I have coverage. I can make the call.
I gotta tell you that my hands were shaking and I was a nervous wreck for about an hour but everything turned out OK.
It did make me think of how dangerous it is to rely upon third party apps on such a critical piece of equipment. Having said that I'm hoping this was just one oddball anomaly and, for now, I'm keeping Go Launcher EX installed and running. But, I gotta ask, has anyone else seen this with Go Launcher EX?
It sounds like you accidently swiped the dock. Go Launcher by default includes three docks. When I slide between them, the other two show as a row full of "+"'s
That's correct u can go to dock settings in go launcher and set the number of docks from 3 to 1 then u won't have that problem again
Yeah sorry but sounds like user error in your panic, not sure how you used go launcher very long and never found that feature. Launcher Pro has same feature and you could put your dialer in every slot if you wanted

Thanks so much for your reply. I just reread my post and my heart rate went up again. Your suggestion has a calming effect.
Hopefully, this thread will make back to the developers of Go Launcher EX and they'll set the default to 1 instead of 3.
Whew!
Edit: It's crystal clear what happened now that I can reproduce it. However, I didn't know about the dock and during a time of crisis couldn't fix it. I've now set my dock rows to 1 and that corrected the behavior. I wouldn't want anyone that needed to use my phone to save ME in an emergency to run into the same problem.

The first time this happened to me w/Launcher Pro I had ZERO clue wtf just happened to my icons, lol, full on panic, but not during a 911 crisis thank goodness.
My friend had the same issue. He accidentally swiped and was pulling his hair out trying to fix it.
This is why I stopped using ADW, the launcher would randomly disappear (I must have bumped it wrong) and could *NOT* figure out how to bring it back (even resetting wouldn't). I haven't had this issue with Launcher Pro thankfully.

I tried swing around where it should be to bring it back and it never did come back up. I couldn't find an option to disable it either. At this point I paid for Launcher Pro anyways so I wouldn't go back to ADW.

Thanks, that's a good tip.
Unfortunately, in the heat of panic somehow all logic and learned tips just seem to fly out the window.
I have a "feature phone" (non smart phone) that was sitting in the center console of my car. I use it exclusively to connect to my Ford Sync. It never occurred to me, during the heat of panic, to open up the center console and use that phone. A couple of days later I slapped my forehead with the palm of my hand when I thought about that.

That happens to the best of us, glad to hear everything is okay for you.
If you go into the GoLauncher preferences and select Exit or Restart (can't remember which) it automatically removes itself as the default launcher. So you can hit the home button and select another launcher.

Auto Hide Taskbar

Hey bro i get this app from the market Honeybar it work great with root access.
I work with touchwiz work 100%.
Program tested MX Video Player,Dolphin Browser HD.
It works well and I suggest using Button Savior in conjunction. Barely seen my taskbar in a week
Works pretty well, main problems I have with it are accidentally re-enabling the taskbar in games (tapping near the bottom), and also accidentally hiding it when trying to hit the 'menu' button in portrait mode. They're too close together so it's hard to avoid hitting it.
I asked the author about the possibility of other trigger locations, or gestures, and he responded but didn't sound like he planned to do anything soon.
I installed HB myself, and although it is nice in some ways to get the taskbar (I use that reference with tongue'in'cheeck) out of the way, there are too many apps I have that place "menu" in the location of the hidden button even when I set it to shift left. Many apps I have to rotate to landscape to get to the apps settings menu hidden behind the shift-left positioning for HB. It's just not a sound UI choice.
The option to just leave the taskbar hidden and use Button Savior is better, but it's like using one hack to make another one work halfway correctly in its effects. HB needs more development and it doesn't look like it's going to happen as of now.

Thanks very much for your info. Yeah... this Button Savior is a real true name in case of the HoneyBar's gone somewhere..
Problem I see with using Button Savior all the time is that you do lose the notifications.. and then it's still easy to accidentally bring back the real bar when playing games etc. Oh well.

I don't know about the games... the notification is hiding except the sound but the real trouble is when the call is coming.... you have to activate the task bar to bring back the panel "Answer or Denied" (!!!)
FYI

I did indeed get quite angry at the loss of notifications but I was able to (sort of) get around that by changing the screen density to 171 using Blade Buddy. This set me back to a 2.x launcher.
It doesn't really work 100% however as browser, Gmail, Google Talk will constantly crash. I was able to work around the browser by just getting another browser and Gmail by uninstalling the Honeycomb version of Gmail and installing the Gingerbread version. I didn't care enough to do anything more than uninstall Google Talk.
On the positive side I no longer have to deal with the taskbar. Ever.

Does the Gingerbread version have the Gingerbread UI? i.e. without the multi-paned stuff? I tried loading a Gingerbread version a while back but it didn't work (just crashed). I prefer Gingerbread style -- more room for the content rather than lists of labels.

Yes this is exactly my only issue with honeybar. it would be nice if we could choose the right side as the "offset". Even in portrait I have space just to the right of center that would allow access to honeybar on/off and not interfere with the menu on a lot of apps.
There's a much better way to do this. Using tasker, I have a profile set up that auto hides the toolbar for certain apps and then restores it automatically when I switch away from them.
Follow the instructions in this thread:

Yes but how do you switch away from them?
That is actually what I am trying to figure out how to do. I am trying to set it up when in specific apps it takes away the task bar but also only within these apps after something... (haven't really figured that out yet) happens it will bring it back for an exit. In a perfect world I would love to be able to press both volume buttons to close an app. Which in this case would be perfect but tasker can't do that...
I'm using task switcher pro. It lets you map a gesture to the back button or home button.

what might be cool is to "shake" device to bring back the bar.
you guy also can use AutomateIt... kind of like tasker but to me it more friendly user...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123423
and the pro version is cheaper too...
Using tasker I did manage to make the bar go away by shaking. Instead of setting programs to do it make it toggle the bar by using a shake. I don't have it in front of me to do step by step but if someone wants me to I can put it up.
I would most certainly love to see that "How too" Zadeis.
Thanks.

OK the link smaug408 put up leads to a guide on how to set up a task that when an App starts it will remove the bar at the bottom. The thing is though you no longer have a back button and get out of the app unless it has a dedicated exit button.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301857
I take no credit for the premade files for tasker. The thanks goes to the creator Quietthinker through that link.
-First Open the link and download the attached StatusBarToggle.zip and place the files into /sdcard/Tasker/tasks (in this case you will only need the StatusBarToggle.tsk.xml, the StatusBar_Hide.tsk.xml, and the StatusBar_Show.tsk.xml files)
-Second open tasker and go to the "tasks tab" and tap and hold the Tasks Tab at the top. An options window will come up but select Import and import all of them into tasker
-Third go to the profiles tab and tap the Green plus at the left and give it a name. ShakeToToggle can work but you can name it whatever you like.
A context window will popup and you will select Event and then the Sensor Category and finally select the Shake Event.
You can mess around with the setting for the shake gesture now or tweak it in to your liking after everything is set up up to you.
-Forth once you have the setting you like press the green check mark, select the StatusBarToggle task and you are done. Now when you shake your tablet side to side it will make the status bar go away.
Now I just happened to figure out that you can shake instead of using an app for the context. I take little credit for how this works.
This method requires Super User Permissions. It will ask on the first toggle of the bar if you allow it to remember it afterward, if not it will ask each time.
Great app. Works perfectly

[DISCUSSION] ADW Launcher general (not device specific)

A new version of ADW Launcher was released in late October 2012--both free and EX version.
Many things changed from the previous version.
Quite a few people say "it is better," but I have some issues. First, a phenomenon never seen with the previous version...often, after 'doing things,' when the phone returns to the home screen, there are no icons for brief to not-so-brief time. Very disconcerting. They do eventually populate, but it is shocking when it happens and does not leave the impression of a well-produced app.
Second, with previous versions, I =LIVED= with using the dots placed left and right of the bottom dock to move (navigate) from screen to screen. Those have disappeared, even from the fee version. On my phone, using swipes to move the screen usually launches the app your finger first touches to do the swipe--very annoying. Emails to the dev asking if the navigation dots will return have not been answered.
(NOTE: I am not talking about the INDICATOR dots at top that show what screen you are currently on.)
I present this for people who may be considering ADW to know. The previous versions I highly recommend; the latest, I do not unless issues are resolved.
Anyone know an alternative way to show opened apps? When i used Nova i could set one like "pinch out" or something.. On ADW i can't fine the way to do that.. Ι avoid using home button every time..
A new update for ADW EX was just released 11-06-12, 1.3.3.7 on my phone.
It did not put back in the dots that will navigate to different screens.
Also, the phenomenon of icons being completely missing (blank screen) after settings changes remains as well.
Disappointment continues.
Its crap. I use menu button unlock in my phone and when I do it pops up the settings screen. No way to disable it. I sent an email to the dev and got no response. going back to the old one.

He has not answered any of my two emails to him either.
Does anyone have the old ADW apk? I have a TitaniumBackup, but file in it is not the apk. ???
Attached is a screenshot to prove I have the EX version. If you only have non-EX, I will even use that--I hate this new version so much.
The ghost icons effect happens to me each time I change any ADW setting, for me it is no problem because I think it is due to the need of restarting app to make changes happen. I prefer the old scheme when you press the menu button, but I think it is just a matter of habit. Anyway, bugless for me as the previous one, and quite smooth, more than Go Launcher for example, at a friend's Galaxy 3 it makes the phone itself way faster than with Go Launcher.

I just don't see anything that is better than before, and several (important to me) things that are much worse...the "ghost" icons--I call them disappeared icons as they are gone for a LONG time on my phone, and the removal of the navigation dots for screen moves, which was my total navigation mode.
When I swipe to move screens, half the time I activate an app where my finger first touches the screen. Argghhh! I need the dots back. Author won't even answer.
OK, I think I have had a mind out of body situation here...
I deleted the new ADW EX and installed the old one (1.3.3.56). Am in the process of adding my shortcuts to the various 7 screens and setting the options and dock.
BUT...
the main reason I switched back was to get back my "navigation dots" left and right of the dock that I used to navigate from screen to screen. I cannot find how to turn the on in the options.
I have looked and looked. Can someone have mercy on me and tell me how those are commanded to be there, please?
(I KNOW they used to be available because I used them ALL THE TIME to move to different screens.)

[APP][3.x][4.x] full!screen - App to hide/replace Systembar

This little app acts as a replacement or companion to the default systembar on tablets. It can hide and restore systembar on most Android 3.x and 4.x devices.
Also like similar apps it requires root.
Unlike "GMD Hidebar" or "Hide Bar" which are recommended for simply using the device in "Kiosk mode" this app is meant to be more like an replacement for the systembar. It provides two configurable softbuttons which can be configured in position, size, color and transparency or can be completely disabled.
Several actions can be assigned to the buttons. Each button holds up to three actions, one for short, one for long click and one for swipe above the button. Possible actions:
Nothing: Um, yeah.. this does... nothing. Not sure why I implemented this.
Go back: Acts as the known "back" button to navigate back within apps.
Go to homescreen: Shortcut to directly go to homescreen... just like at the original systembar
Show recent apps: Will show a little panel to quickly switch between recently used apps. Unfortunately the well known "swipe to kill" function of the original can't be implemented because the necessary permission is only granted to apps with systems signature.
Restore systembar: An action to quickly restore systembar. With the latest version this can also be done by notification.
Show notifications: The second most important feature of the systembar. It shows a panel displaying the notifications. It is a complete reimplementation so some features are not available for now. The basic function works well on most devices.
Open apps menu: Older apps usually display their menu-button within the systembar. This action now can open the menu for those apps.
Pie Menu: Opens a configurable Pie Menu next to the touch area. This menu can be configured individually for each event.
This free version is fully functional and should be absolutely sufficient for most users. For lazy ones like me, who don't want to manually hide'n'restore systembar each time, there is a "plus"version available which automatically hides systembar for selected apps.
Oh, and yes, the free version shows a little advertisment for the plus version once in a while... if you want to get rid of it: just click this advert three times and it won't appear again. If you didn't buy the plus version after visiting it's store entry three times you probably won't ever.

Thanks for your feedback.
The recent apps panel should be closed when tapping on back button or anywhere alse outside the panel.
Well there is indeed a issue when "short click action" is set to something else than "Go back". Then tapping on button does not hide the panel. Did you mean this? I'll fix that.
I just got a message the wallpaper-workaround does not work at all on one device.
Since the wallpaper-issue was one of my main topics I am eager to solve this.
At least me and some testers never ran into this problem: if anyone else experiences this, please drop me a line. I need to collect some information to delimit that issue.
update:
the latest version now introduces the missing Notifications Panel.
At least for me the missing access to notifications was the only reason to ever restore the original systembar. So now it nearly always stays hidden.
A little drawback: new notifications so far are only being reported by sound. My own tablet doesn't have a LED and Vibro, so I personally am not missing this.
Hope you like it!
Great little app and I would be happy to shell a couple of bucks for it, one suggestion if I may though: it seems to be the case that all those who develop this kind of on-screen button apps forget to put a feedback for when the button is being pressed (momentary change of color preferably).
Since your app seems to be of the most complete offerings I think it would be great if you were to implement it in a given future. Android devices are often no strangers to lag so a feedback of any kind (that the button was actually pressed) I think it would improve the usability by quite a lot and hopefully it is easy to be implemented too...
Again thanks for this great app, here's looking forward for future updates

Seems that those developers hardly ever imagine to operate an Android device with somthing else than their big Wurstfinger-thumbs
When I use the app I don't see the buttons since they are completely covered by my fingers. But you are right, when using eg. one of those attach-to-TV-Android-sticks which are operated by mouse and keyboard, and having systems touch sounds disabled, there is no feedback at all.. It's pretty easy to implement such optical feedback, soon to be done.
thanks for your suggestion.

Not much else to suggest -I guess- sort from allowing more actions (through the press of the buttons) but that can be done later... oh and a way to have the buttons accessible regardless of being fullscreen or not (for those who'd love to have "hot corners" at all times)... oh and a minor bug report now that we're at it: upon reboot the app gets superuser permission but does not procede to enable the service (even though I have "enable at boot" selected).
Again thanks for this great app, loving it so far
This works really well on the Nexus 7. I was using GMD gesture control and i had remapped my volume buttons so they could be used as back and home but this is much handier. I can now have my buttons back.
Many thanks
I bought the paid version.
I have been looking an app like this for a while, tried others but this is perfect for what i want.
Top job!!
The latest version includes visual feedback for button-press. I chose a not to flashy color, hope you like it. I am thinking of implementing the before suggested user-colorable buttons but this may take some time...

... oh and a minor bug report now that we're at it: upon reboot the app gets superuser permission but does not procede to enable the service (even though I have "enable at boot" selected).

mhh, I could only confirm this behaviour when setting SuperSu to prompt for granting su-access to the app. Which su-Manager are you using?
Did you set your su-Manager to automatically grant access to full!screen? This is necessary because the timeout waiting for su-access is set to 10 seconds... Since full!screen uses that accessibility-service it gets loaded at very early stage... far before other apps get loaded. Depending on how long it takes to fully load the system the timeout might occur even before the su-Manager gets a chance to Display it's confirmation-dialog.

The latest version includes visual feedback for button-press. I chose a not to flashy color, hope you like it. I am thinking of implementing the before suggested user-colorable buttons but this may take some time...

I was usuing "superuser" so maybe that was why; once I've installed superSu the issue went away and now it boots with my system I've I asked it to
As for the visual feedback it works great but it goes away a bit too soon (Google's own feedback lasts quite a bit longer when one presses -say- the home button) and also it's less than visible when one uses low opacity. I like how the color is discrete though, great choice :good:
All in all I'll recommend this to friends what a great app
BugReport:
While using the app, SnapChat wont work. It FCs. When turning off fullscreen, it works.
Edit: To be to the point; One can take a picture with snapchat and put a comment on it, but when you press "send" it FCs.

installed this SnapChat on my tablet and could send and receive pictures without problems. I am just to blind to find a place to enter a comment to the picture!?
Anyway, I doubt I could do anything about another app complaining about missing systembar or something...
Is it a phone you installed the app to? ... there are some problems known with phone devices like not receiving calls anymore.. may be it's some related problem. :-/

You just click the screen for adding a comment.
Anyhow, yes. Its a phone. Its my Xperia V.
I got quite a few apps tho, so it might just aswell be any other app aswell.
But I found it to good to be a coincidence when I disabled fullscreen and then it worked.
The FC still happends when I dont comment btw.
But it might be SC complaining ofcourse. But its no problem, I just added an invisible button to get the systembar back before I take pictures with SC.
Your app is the only one working properly btw. the lower left and right buttons that you've added are perfect. I can make them small and invisible wich makes it perfect. GREAT job!
Keep up the good work.
I'd like the option to have the notification bar on, but the onscreen buttons off, with just the corner buttons etc., if that makes sense. I like having the notification bar on, I think it's useful. Apologies if there is a way to do this already, I couldn't seem to find it.
It would be good if it rearranged the app icons too to fill the extra space better.
Or alternatively, I would like notification on, original onscreen buttons on but transparent with screen visible behind them, that would be a good option too, I think.
Thanks for the app though.

Unfortunately that not possible at all... at least not without patching original systemUI. Buttons bar and notifications bar are created by the same process. Disabling this process obviously means disabling both bars. I might implement an internal UI similar to the original systemUI some day. But thats at the end of a long list of wishes and suggestions I got so far, because it would take much, much work.
Re: [App][3.x][4.x] full!screen - App to hide/replace Systembar
Hi, this program is almost perfect for me, but I have a question: given that it's oriented towards tablets, ¿do you foresee any problem using it in a phone?. I've installed the free version in my Xperia T and it seems to work alright, but I want to be sure.

A few observations on the google pixel 4a

I've had the Pixel 4a since tuesday and I like it. I've a few observations I thought I'd put here in case anyone else agrees; there's a fix/workaround etc:
1) The speaker isn't too loud and it's only in the last 20% or so of the volume bar that you can hear the difference. They should change the linearity such that there's more control over the sound difference of the last 20% of the range, if that makes sense. Not a big deal.
2) It's annoying that I can't swipe back (ie swipe left from the right edge of the screen) to get rid of the keyboard. Instead a large percentage (10?) of the bottom of the screen is black except for the arrow which closes the keyboard. Waste of space.
3) On a similar note, there's a white line near the bottom of the screen. I guess it's to show that you can swipe up, but I'm not sure. Why would anyone who wasn't sure if they could swipe up see a white line and go "ah - I bet I could swipe up here"? But that's my best guess. And this is on most screens. It's the worst, and the most noticeable, on chrome. You have a full screen site, curving nicely at the top of the screen, and at the bottom the screen starts to curve but then there's the black rectangle, which exists purely to highlight the mystery-white-line-which-might-mean-you-can-swipe-up-here, cuts in, ending the curve and wasting around 5% of the height of the screen. This line doesn't appear in 3 button mode. But isn't the point of gestures that you don't need to waste space on buttons. So...don't waste the space showing me you can swipe up then. There's no swipe down hint, or swiping left/right hint. I don't get it at all. It knows I know you can swipe up, because I've swiped up.
4) Nova launcher problem. It just doesn't stick. Every once in a while it stops being the default launcher and you have to run it again. This has happened on other phones and eventually they fix it. I guess I have to try nova launcher again every month or so. The stock launcher isn't too bad, but:
5) Stock launcher is quite unconfigurable. The 5 icons at the bottom of the screen are sort of like the nova launcher dock (which i always turn off) and are there on every screen.
6) There's a notification history, which is a great idea. If you swiped away a message but then forgot if it was an email, or which whatsapp contact it was, you can see quickly what the most recent message was. You access it via a button under the notification shade which you can press to get at it. But...get this: That button only exists if you currently have unread notifications. If you swiped the last one away, the history button vanishes. You now have to go into settings to read it (why settings? my photos aren't in settings). Why? Who thought that was a good idea? That's when you're most likely to want the history! Doh!
7) Aggressive app killer. This will never change - no matter what google says about ai and machine learning, there's something too complicated about "ok, there's a music player running, playing music, and there are headphones attached, and the headphones are playing music...but...oh, the screen is turned off, which apps can I kill to save battery...well, there's this music player nobody's looking at, that'll do" to ever fix. Really? You're not checking if an app gets reloaded immediately after it gets killed every time it's killed and learning "hmm... it's as if.....he was listening to music and didn't want the app killed?" I guess it's true what they say - most machine learning is just a regex, and this isn't something which can be solved with a regex, so... I've disabled the battery optimisation for this app; time will tell whether that does the trick.
8) Can't disable the sound it makes when taking a screenshot.
9) Google photos can't keep up with quickly deleting a number of photos. To be fair, this happens on the website too. It's odd - you'd think it would be easy. You're not actually doing anything other than marking the fact that a photo is deleted. You're just moving it to the bin; it still exists locally. It's an offline-operation. Why doesn't it just defer until later, or do asynchronously - whatever it's doing. On both web and phone it's so laggy and disorienting that it's easy to end up deleting the wrong photo, the only workaround being to delete literally one picture every 5 seconds. Annoying if you're been taking pics of kids and took a bunch so as to ensure you have at least one without a blur or closed eyes etc.
Well, sounds quite ranty I guess. It's a great phone though - highly recommended. I really bought it for the camera and the fact it's quite a small phone. I recommend the spigen tough armor (sic) case; nice and grippy and feels like it's going to keep it pretty safe.
Maybe these things will be fixed in future updates. I reverted back to 10 and flashed Dirty Unicorns, just a better overall user experience compared to stock at the moment.
I would like to add something: do you also the "bubbles" always appear on the left of the screen even if you have moved them to the right before closing them?

Most observations in original post pertain to Android 11 (AOSP) and have little to do with the device itself. My experience on a couple items:
- Nova has yet to crash since updating to Android 11 (stable on A10 too). That said, you likely interact with the launcher in different ways not to mention app portfolio interactions. Should submit a bug report to developer via contact link in Nova settings.
- Not experiencing the same nonlinearity in volume adjustment. Max volume is fine for my tastes but probably would work well as the sole audio source at an Italian wedding

The device runs Android 11, so that's all I can talk about, not what might happen if it ran a different operating system.
I never said nova launcher crashed; just that it stopped being a default launcher by itself a few times.
The white line at the bottom of the screen is annoying! I liked having the option in Oxygen OS to hide it, hopefully that becomes an option on future updates.
Overall I'm really enjoying the phone after coming from the Nord.

Not what I said; no reference to an alternate OS

Almost always the result of excessive memory pressure (also has nothing to do with the device assuming memory is adequate...which it is on the 4a)
For your issue 4 I guess there's bug in Nova launcher. I had similar issue with Nova, but after switching to Lawnchair it sticks permanently.
Default gesture navigation is surely ****ty. I prefer using old 3-buttons navigation.
