ADW Launcher EX - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

The new ADW Launcher EX is money. Well worth the $3. Very fast and great customizations. Running beautiful on CM6.1 Stable.

Speed, Speed, and More speed. Its speed is amazing even with the special transitions enabled. I was honestly amazed at how well it performs.

Can I use custom icons with it? (never even used ADW)
Can I enable 7 screens like LPP?
Does it have scrollable widgets like LPP's facebook?
Can I change what the icons open?
I'm definitely considering buying this, I just need to know a few basic things before I do y'know? Sorry if these questions sound stupid.

Yes you can use custom icons. Long press and icon you want to change and off you go. Was never really keen on using ADW till now, easily trumps LP IMO and worth the $$$.

What about the more screens and scrollable widgets?
Edit: I got it. removed a lot of my icons and widgets from my homescreen so i just removed it. didn't feel like putting them back. the transitions were cool though. i may re-download another time when i am really bored.

even the free ADW is on a higher level of customization than launcher pro plus

I'm loving the Ex version thanks OP!

There's almost too much to customize! Lol

I couldn't get it to layer widgets (unless it's an undocumented feature of the paid version), so I'm sticking with LPP.

As an avid ADW user, what makes this worth it over the free version?

Yea really diggin this..smooth and fast.. and some really nice themes out there.. People should def check it out.. at least for 14 minutes anyway.lol

I used it for a whole day and it killed my battery. The customizing is cool, lots of options. Every couple hours my phone would get super laggy(just swiping from home page left or right would take like 5 seconds to load).

I just got it. Its neat but not for me. Free adw is fine. I use my home screen and one for picture frames while Pandora plays. There's cool desktop transitions but unless you have a lot of homescreens, its not really worth it.

I'm really digging this on CM6.1, save for one problem...
There's no system options button in the menu, unless I'm profoundly retarded.
Anyone know how to get that back? The best I can do is add shortcuts to settings on the homescreen.

You have to enter ADW Settings to get to your system settings. Very unintuitive.
I've bought both EX and LPP. The eye candy of EX is nice, but LPP is a touch more refined as of right now in terms of practicality.

youll need to switch launchers. The phone comes loaded with Touchwiz, which is where all the colorful icons come from. the launcher is the "mechanism" they controls which icons and widget sets the phone uses, and also how the app drawer looks and works. the most popular downloadabe launcher is called LauncherPro, and its available from the market for free. Aftermarket launchers can be much faster and highly customizable. Once you installed your launcher of choice, then youll have to start finding replacement clocks and things like that.
The clock im using is called Bob3d, if you google it, it will take you to the thread on Xda of the guy who created the clock, and the weather stream at the bottom of mine is called minimalist text, which is also free from the market.
try out battstatt and tajim also, they are nice clean looking battery percentage and time widgets. hope this gives you some direction!
That looks really slick. I just downloaded SPB Shell 3D last night. Very fluid and no lag on my SGS4G. So far I really like it even though it's a bit high on price. But it has so much customization options.

the launcher im using is adw launcher ex ,the program i used to change my battery icons and wifi along with signal was ninjamorph. i took a themed frame work from my g2,took the icons i used for the battery, signal and wifi and took them out and used ninjamorph to push them into my framework, if this sounds too confusing, its new to me too..im a newb at this..it was just something i was toying around with. The battery stats are not accurate, i used the theme blue rover that can be flashed using the tmobile theme app that does not come with our phone.
I also used root explorer to change the lcd density of my screen from 240 to 200. Gives a cleaner look..

SPB launcher on stock galaxy tab WOW!

Are tired of waiting for samsung to update us all to honeycomb haha! If so check out the spb 3d launcher it is great, very smooth screen transitions like honeycomb or touchwiz, it has an option that lets you turn all your panels into a spining circular tray with a true 3d look and feel. I would suggest you take a look at the many youtube videos that are out there. Also there is a experimental option included that creates true 3d on your device, require those 3d glasses to experience it. And yes it cost $15 but worth it!
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
It is certainly good for eye candy and feels very smooth. But after using it for a day or so, you get bored with all the glitter and it slows down the tab within a few hours of use. It does also reduce the battery life a bit.
I hear you, hey I have a launcher for all occasions its a good departure from the norm.

Agreed -- the birthday widget was quite cool, but not enough to part with my beloved Go Launcher
It's very cool and very fast. But there are a few things I would like to see changed:
- I can't change the size of the widgets. For instance, I can't put the Sense Analogue Clock in the middle of the screen
- I can't put a widget or quick link on more pages, just on one
- I can't put bookmarks directly on a screen, just through the bookmark widget.
- you can add only 3 different locations to the globe/world time widget
Or maybe I haven't found out yet how to do that?
I bought SPB for my Photon and recently installed it on my Sprint Tab and really like it on there!! I like it much better than ADW Launcher.
love it - thank 4 upload

How long until we see a stable CM7 ROM

Anyone know approximately how much longer until a stable CM7 is released for the G2X?
Don't get me wrong, I like the current nightly version and I appreaciate the work the guys are doing on this project, but it is a bit buggy, so I was just wondering if anyone knew when a stable CM7 would be released.

Are you using the stock cm7 launcher? It's well worth the 3 bucks to get the ADW EX launcher! Also, go launcher is a great snappy launcher... Both will help with the lag...
And i always do a clean install when I change roms even nightly to nightly, just incase there is an issue...

In my experiences on other devices it has never been stable. Even when a so-called stable mod is released there are many problems. If you want a bug free rom then don't install CM or any other hacker community roms. Stick with stock. I'm not knocking them; just saying they are not for people that expect a smooth, seamless, bug free experience.

I took your advice and got ADWLauncher EX and I must say I'm glad I did. The menu is much faster and there is more customization.
I just have a question, do you know if you are able to make the background transparent while in the menu? Right now the background black.
Does CM7 use the default internal storage or does it skips over the extra 5 gigs all together and installs apps in the sd card?
It gives you a choice where to install.
As for the other question... remember, asking for CM ETAs causes baldness and impotence (or frigidity in case you are female).

THANK YOU for actually responding. To be completely honest I am using eaglesblood which is based off the cm7 builds. In the cyanogen Mod settings and applications, there are choices for internal and sd card, either of which still makes my apps and music go to the sd card.

I would have to disagree with this. How long did you use stock GB, one minute. The stock GB rom is as stable as any other Android device I have ever had, if not more. I have had zero problems with the stock rom. It is rock solid.

From home screen
Press menu
Select more
Select adw settings
Tap UI settings
Pick Drawer preferences
Scroll to background color
Have your phone in portrait because if it is in landscape you can't see the slider bar.
Move the slider the left, then hit the center circle.

[REQ]Transparent status bar...RebelROM

I'm running RebelROM w/GoLauncher and have it setup to where I can swipe up to hide the status bar. But when the lockscreen is on the status bar is visible, would be nice if it was transparent. I imagine that's a function of the OS, not the launcher, right? That being said, is it possible to modify it to be transparent?
Would the UOT Kitchen be helpful for this?

I tried that one, preferred Widget Locker instead. It's got a sick ICS lockscreen....might go back to it since I despise the one I have. RebelROM is so RAM friendly it shouldn't be an issue....I don't think I've broken the 300mb RAM in use point yet....everytime I check it's 2xx mb with 4xx-5xxmb free. Gotta love it!

I've been checking it cause when I was on 2.3.6 stock rooted it wasn't as efficient with controlling ram useage as advertised. I would notice it would lag at times, then would go in and check it and there's just 200mb or less of ram free....I'd free up as much as possible and it would be fine for a while. With this ROM, ram is a non-issue...it's extremely efficient!
Ended going back to WidgetLocker and now my lockscreen is sexy again.

Sent from my Atrix 2 using XDA Premium App. . Hit thanks if I surprisingly help you.
The status bar isn't actually transparent but more like "minimized". It should be an easy XML edit somewhere that I could attempt but it actually involves thinking .
however I'll give it a shot if you get bored with WidgetLocker (which IMO is amazing).

I know its not, thats the problem. I think I'll hold off until we can get a custom lockscreen cause I despise the stock one so in the mean time, Widget Locker it is. I appreciate the offer though

APEX launcher for ICS

Well now that we are all comfy with our new ICS phones, let's talk launchers.
While I kinda liked blur home from 2.3.6, I am not super pleased with ICS' home.
But fear not, Check out apex launcher! IMO it's a lot like LauncherPro but for ICS, You get the scrolling dock (I've always loved that), sweet window transitions, and scrollable widget support (a must for me). Also for root users (and which of us aren't rooted? lol), you can drag and drop widgets on and off of your homescreen. Not to mention have them overlap if necessary.
I'm loving it! Find it in the play store:HERE.
Find the Pro version unlock in play store: HERE.
How to use Moto stock widgets on other launchers?
Unfortunately certain widgets just won't come up on non-stock launchers. Such as quick contacts. They will only work on the stock home. I personally know no way of making them work.
thats what im using! also tried nova launcher as well but i like this one better. love the scrolling dock...keeps my screen uncluttered.

I actually have been using Apex myself and my quick contacts widget works. I thought it didnt at first either but what I was pressing was the green dialer on the widget and getting no results. But then I deleted and placed the widgets back and pressed the number itself above mobile and you press the message icon to direct message. Hope this worked for you man. Check it out I got some shots of it:

+1 for Picspeed DX2. I've been using that for a while. Love it!
launchers
Do any of you guys have problems with launchers affecting your battery? I have installed many launchers (GoLauncher, Launcher Pro), and while they look nice and are customizable, my battery always seems to suffer...went from like 16 hours medium usage to like 13, with no other changes besides adding the launchers.

Nope. Check your battery monitoring to find where the culprit is. Also, you can DL Badass battery monitor from the play store and try that.

Don't get me wrong, I like Nova as well. It just feels like Apex has more customize options. Both are very alike and great on ICS.

Crud, i know there was a reason i liked apex better but can't remember...
Dx I'm actually running the paid version of apex which is even better.
More transitions, and so forth. Its only a couple of bucks, you sold give it a whirl!

I've been running apex since sunday now and found that it was causing a significant battery drain, today in fact i was watching it closely and i was 6hrs on the battery with 1:45 of the display on using 78% of the power and I was down to 50% life left, I've already noticed a significant difference having removed apex.
