[Q] [q] Remove voicemail from speeddail - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
Im getting a bit frustrated about this thing.
On my HTC Touch dual running the stock rom there is somekind of speeddail (when you hold 1 on the phone app it calls to the voicemail.
And thats the problem. When our cow milking robot calls. I answer, need to press 1 (to accept the message). But instead of sending the "1" to the milking robot it calls my voicemail and i cant answer the milking robot.
Anyway, is there a way to remove this? Delete is grayed out in the speeddail menu and i cant change the number of it.

Unfortunately this is set by default in almost every modern phone that you can find. I would suggest going into settings, there's an option to enter your own number. On my phone, if I leave this blank, the 1 speed dial won't work. I'm not too sure if this will also be the case on your phone but you can give it a try
on a Samsung Galaxy S.

HTC S710 not able to make a phone call

Hi everybody,
I have an HTC S710. Up to today, on top of the screen, next to the G (GPRS) a number 1 appeared. The phone worked perfectly.
Today, for no apparent reason, a number 2 appears, and suddenly, Im not being able to place any phone calls.
I can recieve phone calls and I can send and recieve sms properly. Just to be sure, I tried my SIM on a different phone and I was able to place calls.
Anybody has any idea on how to change this or how to set it back to the normal settings? Help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!
Dan
It seems you have changed your outgoing phone line.
This service is called 'ALS' (Alternate line service).
It depends on your SIM card, whether this service is available or not. As you've written yourself the number '2' appears in the display. I cannot tell you, how to switch back to line 1. But this is the error in your case.
Hope it will help anyway.
hi it is because yer opperator offers 2 lines
simply hold in the # key with the slide closed to switch between lines
so if it is on 2 now, hold # for about a second, and you will see line 1 apear again
Solved!!!
Pressing the # key solved it!
Thanks a lot for your help, it was great!!!

Increase length of ringing before voicemail picks up on Sprint TP2?

I have been looking the forums and the web for a way to increase the time my phone rings before my voicemail picks up. I have found things that work for other carriers, but I don't know it works with sprint. The method I have found is to dial **61*voicemailnumber**N# where N is the length in seconds (max 30) that the phone rings for before the voicemail picks up.
The two issue with this are A) I don't know how to find my voicemail number. I looked in HKEY Current Users -> Software -> Microsoft -> Vmail and then under phoneumber1 and 2, but the values were blank. And B) I tried the above method with my phone number as the voicemail number, and my phone made a couple wierd beeps, and then ended the call. Then I recieved a text message that the code I dialed is either inactive or not in service.
I called tech support and of course they were clueless lol So does anyone know anything?
I just called AT&T and I asked for my ring time to be longer. So they made it 30 seconds. As before it was only 20 seconds. I would love to know if I can make my ringt time even longer.
You know I have often thought about this as well. I also have Sprint and would like to have more than 10 seconds to answer.

Your own phone number is your voice mail number. Also, you can push and hold the 1 key and it will go to your voicemail and from there you can go to personal options...BUT, alas...no way to do it there...dangit! I called Sprint and was told that they cannot change the ring cycle. (as it is referred to as) They suggested that I change to a ringer that is longer. I know that there are ringers in the stock ROM that are longer but I don't recall there being one to suit my taste. Maybe there is for you though. What I am going do is to try to find an MP3 ringer that is longer and to my liking and then save it to the "My Ringtones" folder located in "My Documents". From there I can set it as my ringtone. Hopefully that will work.

Classic case of Stupid Customer Care Representative! Selecting a longer ringtone will not increase the length of the ring. What that is saying, is that I could put together a medley ringtone that lasts 30 minutes and that is how long my phone will ring for. WRONG. call back and get another rep.

ahhaha thats funny!
Whats up psycho!? Didn't expect to see you here.
Just a bump wondering if anyone found a workaround for this. Drives me nuts. I guess there's nothing to be done, it's 100% on sprint's end. I posted something in their customer forums about it. Other people have asked and the answer is always the same. On the iden network you can. On CDMA, you can't. Maybe if they get enough posts in the forum...

I dont think it is possible on CDMA either. You can setup Missed call reminder to play a song

Question about Texting with Google Voice

OK, I have a question about texting with GV. I have a Samsung Galaxy tab (Verison) without a data plan. I want to be able to text with it so I installed GV, and set it up with the phone number on my Cell. Now when I text with it everything seems to work with a few minor issues. First my phone always get the message as well, and it usually takes a while for the message to land on my tab while I get it almost instantly on my phone. Am I missing something?
-Go on to a computer/browser on your tab.
-google.com, more, even more, voice
-upper right corner, setting, gv settings
-forwards to, uncheck your phone

[Q] Google Voice - Problems

Hello, This is my first post, I've done a lot of searching on here and google and am at my wits end with my google voice account and my new phone (Droid Charge).
It was working fine with my previous phone...and still does if i swap it to foward to it (Sprint - Blackberry Style).
I'm running PBJT kernel, and GummyCharged 1.7.5 - and did a wipe and cleared all of the options available to clear when flashing my rom.
Here is the problem: When I add my verizon droid charge's phone number into my google voice account it wants me to verify the phone. I hit call to verify but I never get the call. The only issue I could find on google voice help was people having problem entering the two digit code after the call comes through. That's not my problem. My call never comes through.
If I set it to another number, a different cell phone or land line...it rings and I can enter the 2 digit code, and it's working perfectly.
If I try to use the "add this phone" through google voice on my droid charge. It looks like it verifies because on the google.com/voice in the phones section it no longer says I need to verify. However, still having an issue because if you call the google voice number, it will not ring my verizon number (droid charge). It's worth noting that If I text it works. Just not the calls. Also if I leave a voicemail it will notify me on my phone as it should. The application works fine, etc. Just have never gotten it to ring my phone.
I'm about ready to have Verizon try and change my phone number, but wanted to ask here if anyone had any ideas to try. I honestly cannot remember if I tried to do it before rooting this phone, but my gut tells me I tried and it still didnt work. And yes, the checkbox to "forward calls to phone" is checked.
I've also tried from a friends google voice account seperate from mine. Tried to have them add my number, then when they need to do the verification step that calls the phone....of course...I never get the call.
Frustrating!
Thank you for any insight...
Is your GV number your primary number? If not you could also port your number over as an alternitave: google.com/support/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1065667
I know that there is an error saying my carrier is not supported when I try to setup my voicemail with the Charge, so I think it is either the phone or LTE. I had no problems setting it up when I used my Moto Droid, so I know Verizon works.
Since I'm already setup, I just ignore the error. That might not help you much, but like the suggestion porting your number will be your best bet. I hear switching back to a 3g phone temporarily will disable your sim card, and you'll have another headache on your hands.
Thanks for the replies. My sister actually has the same phone but stock etc etc. Going to have it forward to hers and see if that is a fix. I dont really want to have my google voice be my only number but I may do that porting if worse comes to worse.

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network
recently bought a used Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). It came with the lollipop OS. My service provider is H2O wireless (on the AT&T Network. From the outset, I had problems with phone calls, text messaging.
1. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to dial (Like to enter numbers for automated systems).
*I solved this one by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
2. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to click over to calls on call waiting. When I do try to click over, I still hear the original call for a few seconds and then both calls drop and I get an error message that says "no sim or invalid sim". If I don't answer the call, both calls drop and I get the same message. The same thing happens if a try to make a 3 way call.
3. If someone calls me and I try to call them back, the call redirects to turn it into an international call and the call doesn't go through.
*I solved this using an app called prefixer
4. If I try to text message someone who called me, I get an error message back saying the phone number is invalid.
I figured I would have to root my phone to be able to make some custom changes. I first had to downgrade to kitkat (android 4.4.2) and root it and then upgrade with root using some very helpful posts and resources found on this site (thanks). When I downgraded, problems 1 and 2 went away (for number 1, I had to change my network mode, but that solution didn't work when I went back to lollipop). After upgrading beack to lollipop, all of these problems were there, though I was able to resolve 2 of them, the other 2 are problematic.
I think theres a problem with the way the phone is handling the AT&T network signal since they have a different type of network from verizon but i don't know.
I'm will in try to install a custom ROM, change settings in service mode, etc. I just haven't come accross any info to point me towards the right instructions. Alternatively, I may trade or sell this phone ant get an AT&T based phone. What do you suggest?
