[Q] AndRootFile or any other file manager that supports root access - G Tablet General

I am trying to do step3 through 5. I can't seem to find AndRootfile. I tried Astro file and I can't figure out how to copy and paste from the internal SD card to the folders.
Anyone have a copy of Androotfile or another program that will work? Seems the androotfile website is down.
I am starting or have in fact lost my mind!
1.Download the attached Zip file and extrat the contents to your desktop
2.Mount your G and upload the "G Tablet" folder to your G's internal SD card
3.Using AndRootFile or any other file manager that supports root access, mount as R/W, and copy the contents of G Tablet\permissions to System\etc\permissions.
4.Copy the contents of G Tablet\framework to System\Framework
5.Copy the contents of G Tablet\lib to System\lib
6.Copy all the APK's found inside G Tablet\APK into your system\app folder.
7.Install them in this order:

If your trying to install gapps (market, gmail etc) try this link. That is the old method.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842590

It looks like you can still get it from Google Code:
http://androotfile.googlecode.com/files/AndRootFile_2.0_signed.apk

Thanks
I couldn't have done it without your guidance. This is what happens, information on top of information and I never would have known which is new and which is old.
It would be great if there were a chronological order to fixes, roms etc.
I have just done the Marketplace Fix and I am so Haaaaapppppppyyyyyy!

[Q] Offline Wikipedia (Leo's Wikipedia Reader)

Where I should put converted files? The wikiconvert made one folder ''wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_idx'' with ''segments'' and 3 files ''wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_1.lwk'', ''wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_2.lwk'', ''wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_3.lwk'', when I put them on my sdcard the application give me terminate ,,No wikipedia detected. Please load a wikipedia offlina on sdcard. More info in [page adress]. Wikipedia english language is 8Gb''
My wikipedia dump is polish.
Thanks You!
I am still trying to get this to work as the screenshots suggests it should be a really nice reader.
Does anyone know more about this?
Here is a link btw. http://www.leobueno.net/PaginaProyectoSoft.php?id=WIKI_ANDROID
Sry, for double post but i just managed to get that thing to work!
Its easy, just copy all generated files including the idx folder and the "wiki.tag" file to the root of your sd card.
Works like a charm.
Thanks for figuring that out, I've been wondering where to put files for the Leo reader. Can I ask if you've found it's possible to put some or all of the lwk files somewhere other than on the sdcard? Alas I don't have 8GB free on my sdcard for the English files, but I could put most of them in /mnt/emmc on my nook color (CM7).

On my sd card I have:
1. pages-articles.xml
2. segments
3. wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_1.lwk
4. wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_2.lwk
5. wiki_prefix_like_enwiki_3.lwk
Still does not works...
How can I get the "wiki.tag" file?
I just put all files the converter generated on the sd card. Try converting the dump again and keep track of all the files and directories it generates. Those belong on the sd card.
I have found a better solution yesterday, though:
The Aard Dictionary Reader can be used to read the wikipedia as well. Formatting is a lot better than with the leobueno reader - in fact it looks exactly like the original wikipedia. It also includes tables, math formulas and a few images wich show rendered content like the periodic table - all in the exact way it looks on your desktop.
Its also possible to load multiple dictionarys (e.g. more than one wikipedia language, wikiquotre and wiktionary) and search through all of them at the same time.
Converting xml-dumps is only possible with linux at the moment, but you can download converted versions in many languages directly from thir site.
You can get the free and open source .apk here.

i have no idea where to type: "wikiconvert "your downloaded and extracted xml file" -owiki_prefix_like_enwiki -n" to generate .lwk files, im on WinXP, do i put it in run or in command prompt?
Download pages-articles.xml.bz2 from "url" and extract the xml file using a compressor tool like 7zip.
Wikiconvert tool
uncompress this file in the same folder as the xml and type:
wikiconvert "your downloaded and extracted xml file" -owiki_prefix_like_enwiki -n
In some minutes you get some wiki_prefix_like_enwiki*.* files. Copy to the sdcard of your phone and run the wikipedia reader.
There is no problem having several wikipedias in your sdcard.
Edit: I got it to work! i downloaded a different wikiconvert zip which didn't contain the .exe file no wonder i cant execute to generate the lwks, all is good now

you get the wiki.tag file automatically after conversion using wikiconvert. Its better to run the batch file provided in the zip(only after editing the batch file so that the file names of the wikidump is consistent). I think u will get the wiki.tag file only if you use -n as given in the example:
wikiconvert "your downloaded and extracted xml file" -owiki_prefix_like_enwiki -n
Just tested this on the recent wikipedia dump. The wikiconvert executable crashes at 96.57% every time.
if you are using external sd card for storing the wikipedia then follow it here:
some Chinese Android phones have small internal storage, below than 2 gb mostly, if you want to store apps in External sd cards like this one. with English Wikipedia almost greater than 9GB you must store those files on external device & due to the android limitaion you can't install apps to external drives. you must install it to the internal phone memory or internal phone storage. to save it in external drive plz follow the steps.
1. install GL to SD app from the play store.
2. open it & click options then select move data to sd & select an app you want to move to sd.
3. now back, move the folder in which the converted wikipedia files are & copy it to your external sd card folder data/ & that apps folder which you have moved to sd via GL to SD app.
4 now open GL to SD click mount. & open the leo's wikipedia reader.
Make sure you have rooted phone & the wiki.tag file is copied to the root of external drive.
i have successfully done it with my Qmobile Noir A6 {Rooted}. {MediaTek Chipset} {Running Android 4.0 ICS}
i love fastwiki but that app mostly crashes all the time when you are searching articles. fast wiki has night mode & more options too. both are good try it & make a choice of your own. By the way its my 1st post in XDA forum. sorry for my bad English.

[ROOT] Move obb folder to external SD (mount -o bind folder)

Using on CM11, should work for any android build above 4.#.#
If you are having trouble mounting folders like I did like SuperMount, FolderMount didn't work for me
Even if they work, they require payment for most important features
Get BusyBox (Most custom ROMs already have it, like CM)
I used busybox mount because regular mount didn't work
Get the SManager app
Move the contents of obb folder to somewhere in external SD, (Or you can move the entire obb folder and create an empty obb folder in sdcard/Android)
Create new script from SManager (or any other text editor and save it with .sh extension) and type the mount command in it
Lets say I moved the folders inside obb to storage/sdcard1/obbfolders, then command is:
busybox mount -o bind /storage/sdcard1/obbfolders/ storage/sdcard0/Android/obb
Save the file (in SManager you press back after typing and it asks if you want to save)
Click on the file you created and check the Su and Boot boxes and Save
Script should be good to go, click Run
I use FX File Explorer to verify it (obbfolders should be shown on the main page)
Reason I created this thread, I searched this for a quite good amount of time and couldn't find anything
All "mount folder android", "mount bind android" searches either come up dead or show me an app that doesn't work for me

Trying to follow your guide....can't get it to work ?
1: Moved the entire OBB folder to my SD
2: Installed busybox, started it, software says it is installed, there's a button to install again....don't know what else it does ? If I click install, well, it installs again
3: Created the new script, saved it, ran it. It seems OK
4: When I open FX File explorer, I don't know what I'm looking for, I don't see anything going on, no operations running ?
...I didn't want to delete the original OBB directory since I don't have confirmation of this working ?
Thanks for your help
almost there...
Hi there
Had the same problem and found your thread after quite some surfing. Following your instructions, all seemed to work fine, just had to inject an "su" before the busybox mount command, then the whole external_sd (/storage/sdcard1/) was mounted to an existing (empty) folder on the internal sd (/storage/emulated/legacy/External_SD)... at least that's how it looks in SManager. When checking the target folder via file explorer, it still looks empty.
My setup:
- Samsung S4 mini on Cyanogenmod 10.2
- phone is not fully rooted, but root is granted to SManager and Busybox
- external sd card has permissions "d---rwxr-x" and is owned by "system" whereas the internal storage has permissions "drwxrwxr-x" and is owned by "root"
do I face a permission issue?
If yes, how to solve that (tried to change permissions of the External_SD folder recursively using chmod -R under root... but didn't suceed)
If not, any ideas...???
Thanks for any hint!
cheers
I'm using Lucky Patcher to bind oob folder, you should try.
@needo2: Is it required to mount the folder? This could cause problems on rejecting sd card. Maybe it does work replaceing the source directory with a simple link ("ln -s") to sd?

HTC M8 No TWRP folder

I am trying to unroot my m8 and I have found a tutorial with correct way to do it. I have to copy a file into the root of my internal storage called TWRP but it is not there. I used it to root my phone and I can load it. The folder just doesn't exist. I try and make one but it will make one but not name it.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

The TWRP folder can only be accessed through a folder explorer app like RootExplorer or ES File Explorer as the folder is not on the devices "SD card" storage. To move a file there you will need to copy it to your phones SD Card space using your computer and then move it across to the TWRP folder using a file manager like the ones mentioned above.
Hope I could help and feel free to ask if you need any more advice on moving the files across

[Completed] Storage permissions issues, Nexus 5X 6.0.0 and 6.0.1

I'm having an issue with my internal storage. Sometimes I cannot modify files or folders using either a file manager (e.g. ES File Explorer or free version of Root Explorer) or when connected via USB to my computer. For a bit more backstory, please refer to my previous thread, which has received no replies and so I am asking for help here.
Basically, I would like to be able to move files and directories freely across my internal storage. Not much to ask for, really. However, some files and folders can't be moved (cut and paste) or simply copied (copy successful, paste fails). This first started when I was on PureNexus (6.0.0, 12/01/2015) with ElementalX 0.07 and rooted with SuperSU 2.62 (not systemless root). I've since returned to complete stock 6.0.1 (flashed factory image using fastboot), and now on systemless root (2.61) for a couple apps that I use.
Symptoms are:
1. could "copy" any file, but could not paste into any directory. ES File Explorer throws an error "/sdcard/directory/file_name: open failed: EACCES (Permission Denied)". Root explorer (free version) would say "Copy failed, file_name to /sdcard/directory"
2. when connected to a computer over USB, can copy files from computer to any directory on phone's internal storage, but cannot delete anything. When I try to delete a file or folder, I get the Windows error message that the destination has been disconnected, etc., even though it's not.
3. if I've copied a file from computer to phone (say music), some files cannot be copied to another location in internal storage, some files can.
Previously when I was on PureNexus with normal root,
If I am on my device and using ES File Explorer and if I am in the path /storage/emulated/0/* then I am unable to copy/move files and directories, as I've described above.
If I am on my device and using ES File Explorer and if I am in the path /sdcard/* then I am unable to copy/move files and directories, as I've described above.
If I am on my device and using ES File Explorer and if I am in the path /data/media/0/* then I am able to do anything I damn well please.
Now that I've reverted to stock 6.0.1 from factory image and with systemless root,
If I am on my device and using ES File Explorer and if I am in the path /storage/emulated/0/* then I am unable to copy/move files and directories, as I've described above.
If I am on my device and using ES File Explorer and if I am in the path /sdcard/* then I am unable to copy/move files and directories, as I've described above.
I do not see anything under /data
Having said all of this, none of my apps have any problems accessing internal storage, be it for data, cache, or writing anything to /Android/data (or obb)/*
Is this a hardware issue? I didn't think it would be, because it doesn't seem like the internal storage is faulty, since everything else runs perfectly fine.
Mod Edit
Hi,
You seem to have found the correct forum in which to post.
This is not a Q&A forum. It is more to guide new users to the best place on the site for their problem .
Please read the OPENING THREAD and the Second one , too.

OK, an update to this.
After further investigation, I am finding that my issue perhaps has to do with permissions on files that have been cross copied. By "cross copied", I am referring to anything that I created by file manager or by computer, and attempted to modify using the other device. An example of cross copying would be if I created a folder called "Report PDFs" while connected to a computer via USB, and then tried to copy a bunch of PDFs into it using ES File Explorer. Inversely if I create a folder using ES File Explorer, I cannot modify it or files within it when connected to a computer via USB.
Using the File Manager in TWRP (2.8.7.2) I am able to modify all files at will, without any restrictions. It's only when I'm booted up into Android and accessing storage through a file manager app or via USB connection.
I can repeatedly reproduce this problem now. Any thoughts as to why I don't get access to files/folders due to cross copying?
