Ugh really? Does it use the control pad or is it motion?

Its the control pad, but is uses up for nitro and down for brake rather than the buttons. I've not had chance to see it you can change the control scheme yet

Like all ea games the download is free and you get a 60min trial. I think the game is 5gbp so thats like 7 or 8 dollars right?

Ouch ya, 8 bucks. Hmm I will have to do the trial and see if it is worth it.
Over the past week I got 3 gameloft games (normally $6 each) for $3 total haha so its tough to pay $8 for 1 game unless its REALLY worth it lol.

True but NFS Shift "HD" (the version that works with the XPlay controls) is $9.99 in the Android Market, so $8 doesn't sound ridiculous based on that.

difference between gameloft and ea is that ea make decent unbuggy games that are worth £5, gameloft games are worth £1 at most imo! I'm glad ea are supporting the x play! Gameloft really annoy me these days, lack of support and updates!
Been playing this on the Play and it is MUCH better than the iphone 4 version (I had it), graphics are much improved and look really good (one of the best looking games on the Play now?), it runs totally smooth and the steering is actually good thanks to the gamepad!
Only odd thing is the nitro/brake being on dpad/analog up and down, these should be on the buttons.
It also has both the cop and racer career unlike the early iphone version!
Superb game, best offering from EA Mobile yet!

+1 i bought it last night. If you get used to the braking/nitro is actually a really good racer. If it had better controls. I would turn auto accerate off and play it like a proper game lol

I got the game, the controls are pretty bad...
However the left and right buttons are on a low sensitivity by default, i maxed the it out and now it plays a bit better
Had a try of the demo and I do like this game, controls are certainly strange, not sure what EA were thinking when they did them but otherwise it`s a good game.
Might be tempted to buy it, would be more tempted if they fix the odd control setup.

Maybe if we all email EA asking for an update with an option for user defined controls. We might get lucky

EA Surprised me with their responsiveness.
I emailed them about my issue with NFS Shift (that there are 2 versions and the older one doesn't work with the XPlay control pad) and an issue I have with the Sims 3 and they replied back (albeit after 3 weeks) with 2 codes for me to download NFS Shift HD and any other EA game of my choice for free from www.eamobile.com
The problem? eamobile.com doesn't recognize the Xperia Play so it gives me an error "there are no games for your device" . Also wise to point out the Flexion store thats linked above is technically Europe only. NFS HP would cost me 5 GBP plus the exchange rate (a total of about $8) plus my bastard credit card company charges a $11.99 fee every month you use it for foreign exchange. Another thing that sucks about eamobile.com? Dead Space and NFS HP aren't even out yet.
As for the game I played the 1 hour demo last night and once I got used to the controls they weren't that bad. Its a little annoying to have to use the touch screen for the menus when you're used to games just using the controls. But the graphics are flawless and the overall presentation of the game is amazing. I enjoyed it but not enough to spend almost $20 to get it, I'll wait till its out here and hopefully I can use my free game code on it.

Bad ass! I was waiting for DARK to go free.
Not really into sims, but be damned if I won't take it for free
true? or a hoax? or maybe region dependent?
apart from the Free EA games given by Sony Ericsson, namely Dead Space, BC2, NFS Hot Pursuit, and NFS Shift as a promotion, DARK, and Worms doesn't seem to be FREE at all. (I excluded Tetris, FIFA10, and The Sims as they are preloaded).
Now that I've actually downloaded them, DARK and Sims 3 are definitely only giving the option of trial periods
Yea just realised. Some are trials

Trials? awww
rule of thumb: WHEN THERE'S NO "FREE" LABEL, THEN IT'S NOT FREE
good thing i never dared download any of those.. only the free ones..
I thought FIFA 12 is already on the list..
Edit: Confirmed. That DARK and worms are not free..

Apps on sale for .49 cents

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...WRfbXVsdGlfX18yX3Byb21vXzEzMzEwNTgxMjcxNTIiXQ..
Some pretty good apps in there
Just spent a couple bucks thanks to you lol
I think you mean .49 dollars, which equals 49 cents (whereas .49 cents is less than half a penny).
Got Dead Space and Soundhound each for 49 cents. What a steal! And Soundhound's incredible; I can't believe that an app like this can identify songs by humming or by singing. Humming isn't always reliable, but it usually does work!
I'm definitely getting two or ten more apps before this deal is over.
Great find!! 5$ well spent ^_^
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA
does anyone know how long is this 49 cents sale gonna last?
It seems like list list is changing every few days... (not the whole list is changing but some apps are added and some apps are removed from 49 cents)
Shadowgun
There's a game called ShadowGun which remind me of Gears of War. It's pretty good game for .49. It's a must try.
Nice games...
Just bought:
Cut the rope
Dead space
Shadowgun
Modern Combat 3
Soundhound
From all those, the worst is Shadowgun, because it is very easy to beat and doesn't has much content.
Cut the rope is AMAZING! Wish i bought it before lol
Dead space and Modern combat 3 are console like titles, with very strong graphics engines and amazing quality, they're a must have if you like Dead Space 1/2 in case of the former, and Modern Warfare or Battlefield in case of the latter.
Soundhound seems nifty... didn't recognize me butchering "La de da" from Ringo Starr... but i can let it slide because it is one pretty rare music that one.
Paper camera is a good buy for me ...love the sketch picture option
