I know it's not a high priority issue, but would someone be kind enough to make a 3G toggle switch for CHT1.8.5/2? TIA!
This is not as easy as it seems..tried it by myself. You need access to your gsm module to send an AT-Command to switch your Band.
"It is locked by the devicedriver handling the RIL1"...theres an example here on xda for wm5 devices, but it doesn't work for wm6 devices.
This piece of code is the problem.
"0xAAAA5679L" is a control code which is send to the device. It should enable the modem, so that you are able to send data/AT-commands.
Code:
BYTE comdevcmd[2]= {0x84, 0x00};
if (!DeviceIoControl (m_hCom,0xAAAA5679L, comdevcmd, sizeof(comdevcmd),0,0,0,0))
{
...
{
If I'am right, there are only two apps who are able to toggle 3g:
WMLonglife
CommMgrPro
...was sitting a lot of days in front of it, without success.
thanks for trying j4n87! I thought it would be easy since there are already toggles for wifi, bluetooth, etc from the comm manager that bringing out the 3G toggle switch would just be as simple. I guess wrong
Semi Working
Ok I've been playing around and since it launches from the comm manager this resets the radio and uses the 3G function; however I do not know what to put for the machinestatus thus it never fully works.
Code:
Co0kieSwitchLink("[[IDS_3G_TOGGLE]]", "\\Windows\\CHT_switch_3G.png", [B]event_change_notifier[/B]
,function()
JMLComm("3G")
end
,function()
[B] get_current_state_function[/B]
end)
e.g.:
Code:
Co0kieSwitchLink("[[IDS_WIFI_TOGGLE]]", "\\Windows\\CHT_switch_wifi.png", [B]machineStatus.WifiOn.OnValueChanged[/B]
,function()
JMLComm("wifi")
end
,function()
[B]return machineStatus.WifiOn.Value[/B]
end)
So anyone from the manila Gurus out there lend us a hand my lua is atrocious.
interesting... i hope someone else with manila experience can chime in!

Was trying to enable the GPS aspect of my smartphone, and found it literally was not there - not hidden via registry as is normally the case... NOT THERE.
Is there a reasonable way to patch this? Could I in theory grab a small set of reg keys + small set of files and be off to the races? I'm actually pretty happy with the rom set as a whole, and don't favor the idea of replacing the whole thing for this small function.
For what it's worth, I came to this conclusion after desparately trying to make the GPS BT serial port work in any way--it simply won't, so I'm concluding I do infact NEED the smartphone GPS pieces..
There is a good reason why...
It is because there is NO gps on it! you can use BT to sync to an external gps
Hi.
After some changes It seems the new version of bandswitch is compatible with HTC Polaris. Bandswitch is used to swith from 2g and 3g quickly with only one click, enabling to save bettery keeping in 2g and using 3g when needed.
Dani
Thank you, provides very good this application
thank you guy , it seem it work very good on my cruise !
Nice
I couldnt test it on this device because I dont own one but It seems the system to change the band is the same than kaiser, instead of Hermes....So I ve modified it to behave like if It detects the device is kaiser...
Dani
i got a problem, when people try to reach me they automatically get my voice mail (in normal phone settings) i also have problems calling myself (stops a few times and then after trying again suddenly connects). same with messages long delays in receiving and sending...
after setting the band to GSM they can reach me but i have the idea that i cant use 3g????
is there a problem with the phones function t switch between 2g and 3g and do i need this app (bandswitch) for it or is there something with my phone or my opperator-settings?
Hi.
It is operator issues. I have same problem here in Spain with Vodafone. But this problem doesnt happen with Movistar. Being in 2g, if gprs is connected AND there is data flow in that moment then if someone call me it appears as phone turned off. Some friends of mine are telecomunication eng. in vodafone and says Its the sw version of the system, but not related with the pda or its configuration.
Greetings
Dani
ok, thnx
sw version of the system? (do u mean software..)
but is there something my operator can do so it works or must i keep on switching myself in my phone settings?
or do u suggest to use bandswitch?
yes,software.
HTC roms allows to change the band but the process is slows(many clicks). Because of this bandswitch was borned. In fact if you see the first post (in hermes forum) I was searching for a today plugin to switch quickly the band. I didnt find any and I developed this tool. Other operator rom doesnt provide a way to switch the band. Why? I suppose 3G generates more data traffic and more meney for telcos so they fix their devices to 2G. SO you have to use other tools (like bandswitch or commmgrpro) to change the band.
Greetings
Dani
Hello Daniel,
Should V2.5 work with a Cruise that uses the Murata radio?
I dont know that ROM. Today will be out V2.6 beta. In this version I ve changed the way to manage connections because some devices (htc touch, samsung i780) doesnt implement correctly some RAS functions so I hope management connections works for these devices too..
Testers for bandswitch v2.6
Its a beta.
Connection management didnt work correctly on this device because a known problem in some RAS API functions didnt implemented.
http://www.commmgrpro.com/CommMgrPro/files/BandSwitch.V2.6.cab
Changes:
1) Connections management(Stablish, close) has been replaced with IpHelper API so It should work with HTC Touch, Samsung i780 and others. Can you test it?. It would be nice if It was tested with currently working devices (tynt, hermes, ....) and not working devices (touch).
2) Keyboard appears automatically on license and text controls.
3) Unsintall process backed up registry settings to other registry place. It was causing in some devices error uninstalling. It has been solved. When you install old version It can cause error but continues with the installing process.
Greetings.
DAni
pd. Testers will have free license, of course
Testing? Yes!
Hey Dani!
I`ve just downloaded the cab and test it now.
How could I give my feedback?
Frank

another Buttonbug?
Hey Daniel!
I turned off the Speaker for 30 Minutes with the switcher. After that the speakerbutton shows "Speaker off".
And after a softreset the UMTS GSM Buttons show automatic, but i switched to GSM permanently.
So far

When bs is shown the auto button is always focused because Its the first one but it doesnt mean the device is in auto mode. Look at the tray icon. g means gprs. a means auto, etc. I will take a look again to the speaker
Thanks!!
Touch Cruise rom udK R1:
I can't install it, keeps asking me for a serial number.
Once any version of bandswitch you ve 15 days to use it. The countdown doesnt stop even if you install other version. I will do a separate system for betas that doesnt watch if there was any other version installed some time...
2.6.1 works fine
Hey Daniel!
I just installed your new version and it works fine, the button behavior is fixed and i found no errors whit switching 2G/3G, speaker WiFi or BT.
All fine so far, but the beta expires in three days...

I'm on SPRINT'S HTC TOUCH PRO RAPHAEL
Ive been looking for the classic WMODEM.exe for a long time now.
I tried the Titan version, doesnt work
I tried a bunch of different versions from someone in the XDA Developer's Raphael Software Forum (above this one)
- didnt work.
I dont like ICS because its not that compatible with say, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, requires hacking to get working with Linux, and is basically microsoft proprietary bulls**t. I want the real deal PPP Wmodem. If nobody can provide a working one, and its deemed 'impossible' by the experts here, is there a way to hex edit or hack it so it works? Perhaps there is a registry key that prevents it from loading properly?
Please help me finally get WMODEM.EXE to load on the HTC Touch Pro! ICS sucks!!!
whats the problem you're experiencing when you're trying to load wmodem, exactly?
you double tap or excute the file right? and it does nothing.. you can sit there tapping over and over or pressing the enter button or anything and it just wont run
It's like compiling this into a C program:
main() {
exit(0);
}
--
on a hunch im going to try turning off touchflo3d, and executing the four different versions of wmodem i have, maybe one of them will load.. but i doubt it. I tried doing it this way with the Titan wmodem.exe and it still wouldn't load
ok i tried it, it does not work.
can anyone explain why WMODEM does not work for the TOUCH PRO?
has anyone gotten it to work?
maybe theres something embedded in wmodem.exe that causes it to exit() when executed in this operating environment?
can any developers or someone with debugging tools isolate what the cause is ? I have a feeling you could probably hex edit
or hack the wmodem.exe into working properly. Where would i post to request this?
it's actually running on my device, but when i tap the start connection button, the radio crashes, and the program says it could not open the com port.
i think it might be using obsolete api's or something, and that's why it doesn't load properly.
i tried to use it with a reg logger, to see if it searches for any special settings we could tweak, but i didn't spot anything special.
sry dude.
Where are the real hackers of the phone community? Just wondering? Should I try getting ahold of Lennysh on this issue? i hear hes pretty skilled.
the thing is, ICS drains the hell out of your battery. if you dont have over80% battery life on your touch pro, and you attempt to tether using ICS it will drain like crazy and your computer wont charge it.
as well as it not being a true ppp dialup connection, that too also sucks. meaning you have to use special hacks or tweaks for it to work under linux. thats bs
I will bring this back as I am also looking for a working WModem for the Raph.
afaik, wmodem provides support for gsm, you want dmrouter for cdma (which should come on all cdma roms)
the 5.08 AT&T test rom contains wmodem.exe.. as does the official AT&T ROM.. and it functions fine under both
These Qs probably have been answered many times, but my searches did not return meaningful answers
I'm running stock ROM and do not want to change at the moment until Sprint ships WM 6.5. SO I have 3 issues that have been bugging me big time:
1) How do you force applications to use WiFi? The only way I can make it work is to disable the Phone in Communications tab. There must be a way to do it w/o flashing a new ROM, right?
2) I always thought having a sliding screen lock is a matter of finding the right setting. Well not really. I know and tried the free program called S2U2. However I did not like the interaction it had with the phone and my hands free. Things were slower and the additional layer did not add to better user experience. So is there a way to get the sliding screen lock on this phone w/o flashing non-stock ROM?
3) The call answer slider. Who came up with this? The split nature of that slider bar puts your chances of successfully answering a call at 50/50. I like my chances better with the old style on my original TP. Any way to get that back w/o flashing a new ROM?
Pardon these simple questions, folks, but the have been nagging me for weeks now
The slide to unlock feature is stock on WM 6.5, unless you use a third party app like S2U2 I don't know of a way to get the enhanced locking feature. Try pocketshield, it work better for me than s2u2. However it did glitch sometimes and sleep/lock when opening apps. Flashing is not as scary as all the warnings posted by Rom devs. Unless you have to remain with a stock rom, I suggest trying one. Slide to answer is another story. Hope I helped.
As far as wifi goes, if your wifi is on, your carrier data is off. Most apps should be able to use wifi for net purposes but some use triangulation of cell towers to determine your relative location (goog maps , etc). Without cell data active these apps wont work.
Yes, this helped. Thanks!
I was able to figure out and test my wi-fi connection and amazingly enough it works as you described i.e. transparently. I simply checked device's IP address via an extrernal site and it did change when I turned my wi-fi on/off.
I'm not as much scared as I'm still suffering from rippling effects of bricking my previous phone - Touch Pro. I lost all of my contacts (my own fault). So while I could have done hard reset and bring the unit back, Sprint gave me an option to upgrade to TP2 for free. I took it, of course. This is a much nicer phone! Just those little things ...
I received a new phone today that I got on eBay, a Cobalt SP300. The hardware itself is pretty decent, except for the camera, but I've run into some issues with Android. I think it might be my APN settings, even though I've tried many different variation, but I can't get outbound texting to work. It just says sending for a while and then fails. Inbound texting however works fine.
Another issue is that I am stuck on the Edge network. I took a game since the eBay description said Edge only, but I was hoping it might have been in error since this chipset inherently has 3G built into it. But I think for some reason this company disabled it. Also kind of odd since it says it allows HSDPA right on the box... Anyway,when I go into the info screen (*#*#4636#*#*) I see it says GSM only, but it won't let me change it. I remember seeing on a russian site some sort of debugging screen where you could see all bands the phone allows. Anyone know how to get to that?
Would anyone be able to help with this?
Would knowing the baseband or kernel version help?
Thanks
I have also tried getting into an engineering mode as well using *#*#3646633#*#* and *#*#197328640#*#* to view band modes but neither of those codes work, it just brings me back to the dialer screen.
As far as the no incoming texts go, I figured that out by putting the proper SMSC code for AT&T in the messaging app setting. Hopefully this bit might help anyone else with the same problem.
I don't know if anyone may be able to answer this now but with so many of these selling on eBay someone else is bound to searching for the same fix as I am for the 3G. I made the EDGE bearable by using Opera Mini however.
Also, I found the original Chinese version of this phone, the Morningside A206.
And it turns out I'm not alone in the search for 3G, I found something in Chinese with someone inquiring why their A206 won't connect to 3G.
I would post these links but I don't have enough posts.
3G is looking less likely to be activated.
I found an app called Mobileuncle MTK Tools that gets you into engineer mode. I go down to Band Modes (Screenshot attached) and the GSM modes are all selectable but all of the UMTS modes are grayed out. It just seems so weird I know this is a MT6575 chipset which supports it. Is there anything else that can be done?
I also happened to find out how to root the phone if anyone comes across this and needs to know.
Follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046161
I also had to find the drivers elsewhere, so just google this .rar file: usb_driver_MT65xx_Android_ZTE_v821.rar
The first google result from rghost . net worked fine
