[GUIDE]Take Screenshots WITHOUT ROOT - EVO 4G Android Development

Well I'm sure you guys know how to take screenshots while rooted....simply by downloading PicMe from the market.
This tutorial uses PicMe, but has a few steps before it.
STEP 1
Go to this link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10417814/z4root.1.3.0.apk
Once you have this downloaded, you could either put it on your SD Card and navigate to it using the free ES File Explorer in the market
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Or get it on your phone another way.
Once you have z4root installed, continue to step 2.
STEP 2
Open up z4root, and there will be two options, Temporary Root and Permanent Root. I don't have a picture of this because I'm already rooted, but here's an idea of what the screen with look like.
Click the temporary root option, then let the process follow through until it says that it is completed. Then continue to step 3.
STEP 3
Go into the market and download PicMe
Once downloaded, open, allow root access, and follow the steps of the program.
This is a very simple method.
THIS IS NOT TESTED, AND PURELY THEORY, BUT IT SHOULD WORK. REPORT BACK IF IT DOESN'T
EDIT: Pictures aren't showing up for me, idk why? But the links are there for them.

Wow....a guide.

cuz i totally have a PC hanging out next to me at all times.

There are some unnecessarily harsh replies here and I just wanted to take a second to say that this is appreciated. I am also already rooted and so can't test it, but doesn't a program such as this,that can grant temporary root, have greater implications than screengrabbing? Maybe I misunderstand its abilities.
Nonetheless, some of the above comments were rude and unnecessary.

Problems Getting Clockwork To Run - Android System Recovery Overriding

Hi All,
I've been reading this forum for a good few days now as I am trying to get my Kyros functioning the way I need it to. However, I've run into a few problems and am not 100% sure as to what to do. Before I go on, I'm not very techy, so I would be very greatful if replies could be as straight forward as possible, without much jargon as that really loses me
First off, we've just managed to install the windows and ADB drives. I'm following all the instructions from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858952. That took some hacks our side, but is now working.
I'm pretty stuck on the clockwork reboot though. Again, followed the instructions from the link above. When it initially rebooted, it went straight into the Android System Recovery mode (the robot with the triangle opening screen.) I've tried it over and over, following the directions exactly as explained in the link, but all I'm getting is the generic Androis system recov.
The Recovery zip file is on my SD card. Do I need to unzip it to get the recovery.img to show? Is that something that I'm doing wrong? I also updated the OS (I guess) from the coby site before I started working on these other changes.
So basically, this is the issue right now. Trying to get the clockwork to run and all I'm getting is the android system...and that's when it doesn't just reboot back to the home screen directly.
Any advice would be great. Thanks
And out of the blue, after an hour of angry TV watching, it's now worked. I can't tell you what I did differently as I followed all the same steps as before. Must just have been lucky I guess.
I am having the same issue, and i tried to unzip the update.zip but i boot back to the recovery mode, can someone assist me with this, i have a galaxy s (Vibrant).
thanks
Try going to your sd folder and delete the clockwork recovery folder then uninstall rom manager and redownload it from the market after it installs open up rom manager and click on flash clockworkmod recovery and let it download the update.zip file and your done

Oh yeah after all those steps and you still get back into the stock recovery system click on reinstall package and it should boot into cwm I hope that helps

Heimdall One-Click Defuse. The easiest way to get CWM installed so you can flash ROMs

introduction
Hey guys, I was trying to figure out how to root my device so I could install CWM, so I could install jellybean or something... I totally forgot I made a one-click CWM installer.
Here is a one-click for the Defuse1.5 kernel by LinuxBozo with CWM installed. It's old, but it's a good launchpad for a stock device.
This works on Windows, Linux and Mac and Windows and Linux. Make sure you follow the in-app directions if you've never used Heimdall.
Instructions
1. reboot into Download Mode
2. click the flash button in this app
3. if any problems, repeat with flash bootloaders option checked
4. reboot into recovery
5. flash rom
6. advanced>reboot recovery you will now see a blue recovery instead of orange.
7. flash rom again

Usually i show it with the Green Connected icon at the bottom, but I decided to release this as an afterthought. Sorry.

Quick question, Adam.
In step three, you had wrote, "repeat with flash bootloaders option checked."
Does this package contain GB bootloaders, being a 2.2.1 kernel?
If someone came directly from 2.2.1 and had never had a previous GB bootloader, will they see the distorted rainbow recovery?
I was not sure if this package had bootloaders.
Thanks.
Thanks, but when click on the download link I just get a page that says welcome to nginx...

Root Symphony W60/Micromax A68

I am Gonna make this short as you guys are waiting for a Long time for this !
First of all, What is Rooting ?
Rooting your Android device involves adding in a small Linux application called “su”. It stands for SuperUser, and allows applications and commands to run with elevated permissions. Everything that runs code, whether it’s an application or the user, has a permission level set by the operating system.
Why Linux? Well the heart of the Android operating system is the Linux kernel. You'll hear a lot of nerdy geek-speak about the Linux kernel, but all you really need to know is that it's what is interfacing Android to your hardware, and ultimately has complete control. When you stray outside the "normal" way of using Android and start entering commands directly, the kernel is who you're talking to.

Now download and Install The Driver First,

[SOLVED] Soft-Brick BOOT.IMG Recovery with CM10 and All-In-One Toolkit [NOOB-FRIENDLY

Right, I'm sure there is similar here, but I had loads of difficulty finding it, so I thought I'd create my own version.
I'm a complete noob at this, so I'll make it easier on you, and put it as plainly as possible. EVERY step is listed as if you're in the same [or similar] situation.
I only recently tried to get CM10 onto my phone, and on first try, I soft-bricked it. I unlocked the Bootloader, Rooted, Installed TWRP and a version of CWM when it didn't work, and CM10 seemed to work fine, but upon booting for the first time, and leaving it for about 15 minutes, I realised something went wrong. Tried going back to the most recent RUU [the EU OTA version], and that didn't work [after relocking the bootloader, yes]. Started freaking out a small bit, as it stopped letting me mount the storage in Recovery, even though ADB could still see the phone.
Asked a friend to help, and we found this over on the One X sub-forum.
BEING AWARE THIS IS RELATIVE TO hasoon2000's All-In-One Toolkit
[nice work btw! Might wanna look into this btw - it may be a small bug with your software. No offense ]
Turned out it was the boot.img that installed incorrectly, so making sure the .zip MD5 is correct is first step.
If that's not the issue, the 2nd step is to just open the .zip and take the boot.img out of the root of the container, and pushing that to the phone using ADB [the one that come's with the AIO is perfect]. If you're not sure how to get into ADB, and get it to stay open, here's what you do:
1. Copy the directory of "adb.exe" within your AIO's "data" folder [for example, mine is D:\Administrator.Sheol\HTC\All-In-One\Data\]
Click to expand...

2. Open Command Prompt [in Vista onwards, type "cmd" into the Start menu Search Bar, in XP, open the "run" dialog in type cmd. Alternatively, find it in Start > Accessories, in all recent versions of Windows]
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
3. Type the following into Command Prompt:
cd D:\Administrator.Sheol\HTC\All-In-One\Data\

}
Remembering your directory WILL be different, so adjust accordingly!

4. It'll list all ADB's command's. Don't worry, it's meant to. If you want to, skim through them to familiarise yourself with it. At this point you may want to maximise the window, to fill the screen height [makes every thing much easier]

Doing exactly this, worked a charm, and now I have a flawless CM10 HTC One S! After the GApps install of course [which can be done in your Recovery after downloading it/pushing it to your phone, by using the "Install from .zip" option]
