[Q] [Q:] How to Manually Deodex D2G? - Droid 2 Global General

From what I understand you can follow this guide also...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765270
I just want to know the "LONG way' of performing the task.
Thank you for letting me post.
Also, knowing that DX & D2 are almost Identical, I'm going to attempt to delete almost all bloatware and report back. (I need to deodex first, I think?)

Yes it did, "xUltimate v2.2" will deodex all files needed. With that being said, if you snoop around at the source of "xUltimate v2.2" It will inform you on how to do it manually.

Thanks for the info, I've read about 30 different threads about xultimate. I'm nervous to give it a go. Have never done this before. Which is easier? Using the xultimate method or the manual? I couldn't find how to do it manually either.

You're welcome bro, I hope that we can all learn more about our phone. xUltimate was easier, manually would involve a lot of time. But if you are like me, then learning isn't an issue. Plus we have the D2G SBF, to restore from.

thank goodness for the sbf....im sure Ill need it again...already used it once!
think Ill try the xultimate route first, seems pretty straight forward in that thread

AngDroid provided stock rom that is deodexed, why don't you simply use that one instead going thru all the hassle. I use it, has root and busybox integrated, it works fine.

Thanks,
is that the one you dl from the team defuse rom manager? is it 2.4.330 or .29? I tried to get that defuse rom manger but the lite link wouldnt work, guess Ill pay pay for the full version but am kinda itchin to take the next step and do it myself

True, you could always go that route. (Less hassle in that sense)

You can dl it for free via Team DeFuse Rom Manager. I also used their roms for a while on my old D2G. When I received my new D2G I wanted to do everything manually. Now I'm in the process "Cyanogenmod" and starting is half the battle.

Thanks for the input. Got that up and running. Awesome about cm. That was my goto on the droid. I thought that couldn't be ported due to the encrypted kernal. That was/is my ultimate goal to figure out how to do. But I'll start with deodexing

Yes that is a problem, but anything is possible. That's why my first step is understanding how to compile a kernel then how to apply it, it's a long process. In return it will all be worth it.

Team Defuse's Stock Deodexed is 2.4.29, I believe you should be able to get it with the free rom manager too (I have the paid version, cannot confirm).

I got the paid RM (I support the devs' ) dl'd the stock rom and to my surprise my system version shows 2.4.330 and no odex files in root explorer, so apparently they updated it to the newest release. Thanks for the info!
now I need to find out how to change the font colors on the notification bar so I can change that out to a black one....off to google and the interwebs!

So is using adb and modifying services. Jar the only way to change the color of the clock on the stock rom? or is there an easier way.? I am kinda liking some of these blur apps so I didn't really want to flash fission just to be able to change the status bar and notification drop down.... or can I push the blur apps to fission if I load that?

That's the only way afaik to change the clock color.
Blur won't work on fission because of the hooks and services that have to be present for it to work you'd be basically remaking the ROM just to have the blur you like.

[REQUEST] CityID.apk

Yes, this is the first time someone actually wants CityID. It's the only thing stopping me from applying the latest update.zip. I've been searching for quite a few hours to no success. Every search I've tried to find the stock CityID app has only led to how to remove it. These all would have been helpful to see before I deleted it through Titanium rather than renaming it. The couple of installs I found have been for other phones, none of which have allowed me to bypass the step in Recovery. Would anyone kindly upload the stock CityID, or even point me in the direction of it. I'm assuming I can just place it back in /system/app/ correct?
I'll add my request to this as well so this topic stays near the top!
I'm also stuck at this error trying to install the new update.zip! I've been doing searches as well and haven't been able to find CityID.apk anywhere!
I'm also assuming that you can just do an adb push of the apk back into the /system/app directory.... fingers crossed!
Try the HeyItsLouFroyo Rom thread in the dev section. He has a zip file of removed apps. Didn't look. But I think it's in there since he said he removed it.

I have the .340 system sbf you can get it also if you get the donate app from Team Black Hat in market or if you google it Im sure there's a link. I don't think you will get to many takers when you won't risk flashing your device with your own work.
i know i wont get many takers, thats why in my first post, i said i know probably no one will, I know about the system sbf but if you get stuck in bootloop what is difference between system and full

Dude seriously... STOP posting themes you created here and one the Droid X forums YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TEST YOURSELF.
Stop theming for a day or two and learn how to SBF and restore you phone just in case YOUR theme puts OUR phones in a bootloop.
Yes a system restore will fix your bootloop as it restores framework etc. As Isaid earlier that's one of the reasons p3droid and team black hat release these system sbf files. To help themers by giving them a safety net. Get your phone updated to the .340 system files. Get you the
.340 sbf and thoroughly test your theme before asking our community to assume the risk.

The single battery works on some boots which is weird and i dont know why. other then that here it is.

any help on things like theming single apps would help alot thanks
Looks good so far. As far as theming your apps I recommend apk tool or apk manager and winrar. Winrar will let u open ur apk and drop your edited images in and one of the apk tools will optimize and sign your apk. As far as installing it u need to update your update sctript to include system/apps. Or if they're GApps just theme them sign them as a non system app and make a zip of them to be installed separately by the end user.

First of all, I did nothing wrong, i didnt know that i could of just used the system sbf. I didnt want to go to the leak on the full sbf. I KNOW HOW TO ALL I NEEDED WAS AN EXPLANATION, THAT IS WHAT THE POINT OF THIS SITE IS. Then besides coming here wasnt enough, you get me banned on droid x forums for just asking someone to test it. If they tested it, they knew they could have a chance of bootloop, thats why i just ASKED! And then if asking to test wasnt enough, after i get it tested, every time i post on droid x forums, i get banned. So plz stop posting on here when i ask questions.
I am amazed you don't see an issue with what you are doing or rather did.
YOUR ACTIONS GOT YOU BANNED not me. I never said "ban him"
If you would have tested your own themes in the first place all of this would have been avoided.

[ROM][02.07.12]DS_Mod_1.55.531.3 (Optional Debloat)

Hello Everyone!
This is kinda sorta really late, but here is the flashable, rooted version of the latest stock rom update!
Flashing this will get you to 1.55.531.3, without the trouble of having to gain root permission again. Keep in mind that this rom will maintain everything that a stock rom would have, including the bloats. I will upload a version w/o bloat soon.
Report back if there's any problems!
Download DS_Mod_1.55.531.3 Here
02.07.12: I took out most of the bloatware in the debloated version. Download the debloated version here!
P.S. If flashing this caused your dog to have cancer, I am in no way responsible!
Omg omg omg <3
Does this support the new radio?
Yea, it's based from a device that was at the most recent OTA, with everything that comes with it.
Thanks to Daniel for bringing us forward - It's great to see people releasing all kinds of goodies for us to play with
Can you make a deodexed version? I'm a huge themer.
Do you think it would be a good idea to try flashing this on my non rooted mt4gs? Like putting it on my sd card and getting into recovery?

do you have the new radio already? this ROM was made to run with the new radio, but it will not install the radio. i am curious to see how this runs when people flash it with the old radio... (could run just fine, we've just never had the chance to see it done )
also you could flash the new radio, but this could be a problem if you decide to flash back to an older custom ROM, as people have reported random reboots with the new radio on the older ROMs.

that would be a really cool new way to root! probably won't work, as it likely won't pass the signature check in stock recovery. shouldn't hurt to try, it would probably just not let it flash.
I'll wait for the Bloat-free version.
Or can you just use the Bloater app to remove them?
Just scored this phone for my little brother. The little amount of ROMs in the 4G Slide community surprised me.
I want him to have a full experience so I'm going to flash this ROM, I don't like how every other ROM has things here and there not working - specifically no 1080p video.

Well, this is a zip, not a pd.img, so booting into recovery or fastboot wouldn't work anyways. OP, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is only for people with s-off, root and clockwork mod installed.

[TOOL] Auto Deodex/Debloat AT&T One X

This tool will automatically deodex your AT&T One X if its rooted and has Busybox installed (one click root tool already does all of this for you). This should make it easier for folks to install modifications since we don't have a CWM .zip of deodexed files quite yet.
http://briefmobile.com/auto-deodex-tool-for-htc-one-x-att
Also, developers are encouraged to take a look at the batch commands. You guys can make custom ROM installers and such with very little effort. This will work until we have CWM.
Edit: Linux version thanks to JeepFreak! http://www.filefactory.com/file/58m4z62jgn51/n/linux-light-deodex_tar_gz

Restoring system app data I would avoid, but to restore user apps use titanium backup. Its free and great if properly used. Just set your filters to make sure you don't include any system apps on your batch backup. And when you restore the apps, I would batch restore the apps and then restore the app data only for apps where you actually need to restore app data.
And don't tell Scott I recommended backing up and restoring.
To the guy scared of borking, don't worry its a good file.

TB Doesnt like this root method. Clear TB data and SuperSU data. Make sure you update binaries in Super SU then set the default permissions to allows allow. Other than that I have no clue. I get root with every app no problem.

I know man... Some people are quick to downgrade something when they dont know how to use it. lol
Some peoples kids!
One possible nice addition would be 4in1 power buttons, even if it was hidden somewhere so the wife couldn't accidentally hit it.. The ability to jump to recovery would be nice since it's pissy to do it the hardware "button"/cold way. I know it's stock, and I greatly appreciate it. I have it loaded for my wife, but jumping to recovery from the device without issues, another app, or a tool kit would be nice. Just an idea. Thanks.
Going to check this out, just want something stock and speedy. CM10 was a bit too unstable for me at the moment. Thanks for the ROM!
