Hey the resizing program for the 9 patch you posted, does it fry the 9 patch data?
also you guys should check out image magick, it will do bulk resizing along with pretty much every other image processing your can think off, all form the command line.
Resize image
convert my_image.png -resize "66%%" my_smaller_image.png (resizes image to 66%... this can be done in bulk using mogrify)
Convert image to grayscale
convert my_image.png -colorspace Gray my_image.png (mogrify will also do bulk for this command)

Thanks much appreciated!
no problem, if u need help making one just let me know
can you look at this please and see why it wont work..
Process is totally different to the g1 as the boot animation resides in a different place and is actually a collection ofpng images.
I haven't been able to get it working either i have tried rezipping the files after editing. Tried dropping the images into a zip without unzipping. Alwaysr results in a black screen. Maybe one of the guys who have got it going can help?
its not different for a g1 using a 2.1 rom.
problem is you have a folder called bootanimation within the zip, it should just be bootanimation.zip with part0, part1 and desc.txt
and the images are compressed within the zip, the zip should be set to store only

New themes will be added at the bottom of post 2.

And thanks to everyone that contributed in the past, present and future.
If I miss anything or if you would like yours added to the list let me know Im sure its incomplete.

The usual disclaimers and garbage go here. Use at your own risk. I think anything that is posted here should be within the copyleft idea. Google it if you're not sure what that is. If you upload something and want to be proprietary about it, make it very clear. Beyond that let the fun begin .
And thanks to everyone that in the present and in advance.
To anyone uploading themes: Depending on the file size you can upload it as an attachment in your post. Please use this method as places like 4shared and mediafire have limits, etc. Also I figure the easiest standardization of format would be fully rebuilt apks placed in a folder andthe folder zipped. My plan is to make an app that will automate the process of changing themes and I think this way would be the easiest for the end user and the easiest for me to build an app .
BTW if anyone wants to help build the app with me I would really appreciate it as I am still really new to programming.

great thread, to keep it's value keep it up to date, and dated
This thread is really nice ... i got one question though ...
Whats with custom themes and updates? especially when i skin something like Timescape/Mediascape ...
if i use one of the themes here (ok i am already using one ), dont i risk that i overwrite an "updated" file with an old one?
especially if i use some very new firmware like R2BA026
thx in advance for your help guys

All theme builders, plz help me out here. I am building my own custom theme by modifying framework and I need to get to the png' of the elements which i have highlighted in the attached image. I have tried some probable pngs but they turned out to be wrong ones and messed up the theme.

The top image is system/app/Conversations.apk/drawable-hdpi/conv_drop_down.9.png
Since it is a .9.png you will need to go through some extra steps to change it (decompile, etc.). Search how to work with .9.pngs here or on Google.
I think phillu97 may be right about the second element (day sent bg) being in the xml.

Hey anybody!
So i've pretty much looked all around, this stuff is scarce.. Could anybody outline the steps for adding active display to your custom rom? I'm already familiar with all the unpacking of apks and jar files, so you don't need to go that far back, just which exact files to edit and in what manner?
the "ChameleonOS" team gave much of the code needed here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450697" but not much word on how to integrate it in.. I think if someone made a tutorial on this, that'd be awesome.
Thanks

If your referring to V4A instead of a different addon by the Viper Rom community then just d/l either of the OGD Deodexed Roms we have and V4A works perfect and if you have a car with a system hold onto your windows, it sounds pretty sweet! Like wake the neighborhood with a factory Ford Shaker 1000 system have my phone hooked up with a aux cable running V4A with the Super Driver and Advanced Controls tuned. It will get you in trouble if you go by a cop and the town has noise ordinance.

Here you go, an empty zip ready for you to add your edited apk's. Just edit the updater-script to whatever you want it to say. Tested so far with apps, priv-apps and framework. Enjoy
Note: if you have already converted the apk's images to png's, please share as it will save all of us a lot of time.

Has been a few years. I quit making roms and themes about two years ago. Well roms first, then the themes. When Samsung came out with the QMG images, that was it. I had enough of jumping thru loops to make a theme for the Note 4. Love the phone, hated the OS for the phone.
So bud, are you do any theming for the Note 5. Maybe you can give me a hand. I am a little confused on what can and can not be done. The reason I was able to do a basic theme was the framework-res and systemui was already converted. I read the previous app used to convert the images to png's doesn't work for this phone. So let me know if you know how to convert the qmg's to png's, or anyone here that can help.

Yeah ... I haven't been too involved myself. Some a few tweaks on the S4. I have been planning to develop some custom boot images (my specialty ... haha). Really just looking at cleaning things up first. I know rlmiller and tdunham are both pretty involved with this device. They might be able to provide some insight.
Anyway ... good to see a familiar face.

No problem I tried yesterday on the settings apk and had no problem with any png's. So the conversion still works for the Note 5. That's what I get for reading one post and taking that as fact. I use VTS for decompiling and reconpiling and had no problems with the framework-res, systemui and the systems apk's. But when I try to recompile a couple of other's. Like the Samsung keyboard even without changes they give a Java error. I have updated both apktooland smali files to the latest. But that didn't help, still get the same error. I applied for Samsung Theme it twice and was declined both times. Something about I didn't provide enough information about the themes I have already done. Not sure what they are looking for. I provided linked images to some 20 themes and roms I have done.... Maybe that's it, they don't people who know how to hack their phone.

In the search field, type picconv. Should be the 1st link. Beware V2.1 converts the 9.qmg to regular .PNG images. If u want to edit .9. images u will need to add the black lines. Hopefully the developer will get this fixed soon.
As far as Samsung goes, I think if u provide proof of themes u have make. And the link is a post on XDA u are blacklisted. Samsung straight out told me in a phone conversation that they do not want us rooting our phones. Yeah, they want to control the themes available and make money doing it.
