How do you install an update.zip from a microSD card in Clockwork Recover? - G Tablet General

So I've erased my internal sdcard and would like to recover using a microSD. Problem is, CMR is unable to mount /sd-ext. Has anyone else been stick in this situation?

Okay so I'm using the USB mount option to copy a recovery image back over to the internal sdcard. Still curious about mounting an external sdcard in CMR though.

In the recovery file change to sdcard2 and it will run from their

I used touch recovery before and my sd card would mount just fine, but either way you shouldn't trust sd mounting in recovery, it's been known to corrupt files.

I can't install roms or any kernel if I can't mount the SD card.

do you have an adapter for your mini sd card? if not they should be cheap, that's the best way to go.
I can mount in touch recovery just fine, reboot the phone back into recovery and try again, agree with ^^^ about the adapter.

That's odd. I found that the Orange 4.0.1.4, as I recall, was very reliable and worked very well with backups and restores. I would suggest copying the contents of the SD card to your computer. Then I suggest running a chkdsk on your SD card. You would type the following into the command prompt (run as aministrator).
chkdsk F: /f /r /v /x
After it is done I would format the SD card as FAT32 with 32K sector size.
Then I would copy the contents that you copied off earlier back to your SD card.
I know this might not seem relevant, but at least it would take SD card corruption out of the equation. It doesn't take too long and its pretty easy to do this, you just need an SD card reader if you can't boot into your phone to mount the SD card.
If you still have the same trouble, I'm not really sure what do tell you. It seems that there is a problem with the SD card or reading the SD card. You could try to copy the contents of your SD card to another, different SD card and give it a go.

There's also a little blurb in the OP for CWM recovery that tells you a possible way around the sdcard mounting issues.

[Q] I need help with my g2x ive looked far and wide.. please give me a solution *-_-

So my g2x wasnt mounting my INTERNAL sd memory in CWM so then I reflashed it to the internal nandroid CWM with oneclick tool NOW I can acually mount it on USB and I formatted the internal to FAT32 on my computer there are NO files on it and no ROM is loaded on the phone. I still cannot mount the SD in CWM. Im using CWM 4.0.1 Internal SD nandroid support. PLEASE ive been looking all over.

Use oneclickflasher to flash clockwordmod touch. Install a rom, and format the internal sd. Try seeing if it recognized under cwm touch (remember, when you hit install zip in cwm touch click the option use internal memory)
I advise using clockwork 5.0.2.0. That's the most stable and actually for our phones and not a port.
There have been issues with certain kernels with other recoveries and it's better to be safe than sorry.

Ext sd card question

I was copying a ton of files from my sd card to my external sd card via root explorer when I noticed my system was hanging. I restarted and my permissions on the folder were out of whack and I couldn't access it. Changed the permissions and rebooted now it works fine while my system is running, however, when I try to mount the drive in clockwork mod it tells me I can't mount it. Used to work fine. Anyone have an idea on what I need to do to get it to mount again?

[Q] Update rom with out sd card

Good day XDA! My i9003 galaxy SL internal memory is damage or bricked and I managed to tweak vold.fstab and use my external sd card as internal my problem is how can I flash a custom rom on it? my external sd card is already detected as internal sd.. any idea how to flash a custom rom? Thanks in Advance!
by the way is it possible to partition the external sd card (micro sd card) and can be used as internal sd and external sd?
I think it's can,and cmw detect it not external but internal

i use cfroot come with bam kernel, verion 5.0.2.8
in option intall zip from sdcard, there are option to choose zip from sdcard and choose zip from internal sdcard.
in you condition, the mmcblk1 (ext sd) now is mmcblk0 (int sd) right?
and you have make 3 partitions in your ext sd to act as int sd for your data partition right?
so, in android, if you copy zip file to you sdcard which is mounted in windows, it will located at mmcblk0p1, that is emmc partition of the cwm.
and you can flash it in option choose zip from internal sdcard
Those are the theory i can think about, cause my phone still having the mmcblk0 and mmcblk1, hence i cant test to proof it.
so in the cwm fstab,
Code:
/dev/block/stl11 /cache auto rw
[COLOR="Red"]/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /data auto rw[/COLOR]
/dev/block/stl10 /datadata auto rw
[COLOR="red"]/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 /emmc auto rw[/COLOR]
/dev/block/stl9 /system auto rw
[COLOR="red"]/dev/block/mmcblk1p1 /sdcard auto rw[/COLOR]
Recovery fstab
Code:
# mount fstype device
#/boot bml /dev/block/bml7
/cache rfs /dev/block/stl11
[COLOR="red"]/data rfs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3[/COLOR]
/system rfs /dev/block/stl9
/datadata rfs /dev/block/stl10
#external
/sdcard vfat /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
#internal
[COLOR="Red"]/emmc vfat /dev/block/mmcblk0p1[/COLOR]
edit, in my understanding, (i still a noob), due to partition assignment for the android, external sd is set to be mmcblk1 and mmcblk1p1, so now the external sd is mmcblk0, it have no more hardware to call mmcblk1. hence, not possible to make a extra partition in mmcblk0 as external sd. except mod the kernel and android setting to change mmcblk1p1 to mmcblk0p4.

Are you able to reboot to recovery?
If so, just copy a custom rom to your sd card (cm9 I'd recommend) and browse it in cwm.
Flash the zip file and it should be done.
This should most probably work but still if you face any difficulty then,
Flash a stock rom via odin and then flash a custom rom via cwm.
Good luck. And let me know if it worked.
