Just rooted and rom manager won't work. - Captivate General

Well I am happy to say that I am really glad XDA exists. I would be lost without you guys. Every time I try to flash clockwork, it says, error downloading make sure you have a stable internet connection to load the servers. I have reinstalled and same crap.
Is it possible its the root?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

It's not the root. I think someone mentioned the server may be down. The update.zip has been posted in several threads. Go to the q&a section and there should be a thread similar to this and has it posted as an attachment.

Try "Fix Permissions." that's what fixed it for me.

Happened to me last night... shortly after that my phone got hosed

Don't know if it will help, but there is another update to ROM manager on the market this morning.

Looks like it was just the servers.thanks for the quick response guys

I just flashed the update.zip and things are working properly now. Thanks for the info.

In an effort to help you get your question answered I am going to ask you some questions that may help. Because, I am, if anything, an awesome, awesome guy. Are you rooted? Are you running a custom ROM? If so, which one? What have you tried to already to fix the issue?
Sometimes when I have faced the authentication error it has been fixed by a reboot and fix permissions. You could also use the LG updater, but some people, including myself have run into some probs(don't you worry, all fixed now).

I've had the same authorization error when I do the manual check for update in my about phone section in the menu. And my phone is all stock...and not rooted and only like a week old. And suggestions? Us it just because I have to wait for them to push the update to me?

Can someone please answer both of our questions, I really want the update but it hasn't been pushed to my two week old LG G2x. Please help.

You're far from being an awesome guy. I have already solved my problem and I'm running Gingerbread. Contrary to you, I will post the solution when I get home from work tonight.

I was getting this as well when I was checking for an OTA... I ended up just using the LG S/W Update Tool. No problems for me

Trying to apply the 2.3 update to TB.

I keep getting an error message saying failure trying to update newer version. Need help or a different like to the full Ruu. Thank you in advance

Means to say link to re download the update.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
More info please. What did you do?
What makes you believe that the update is for GB v2.3? Is this an OTA update from Verizon?
Sorry my question wasn't worded good. So here it goes LOL, I downloaded one of the leaks of Gb for the TB and I placed the file on my SD card and renamed it and shut the phone off held power and volume. Then I went through the steps and it started updating itself the when it finished it said error failure to update software to new. Once again thank you for responding to this I really appreciate all and any help.

Rooted or unrooted currently? I assume unrooted?
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
If you downloaded the RUU_Mecha_GINGERBREAD_S_VERIZON_WWE_2.10.605.1_Radio_0.01.78.0802w_3_NV_8K_1.41_9K_1.64_release_209273_signed.exe
Do not place on the SD card, is a Windows application to update your TB via Data cable.
Takes about 10-15 mins.
This is exactly as I did and worked without any problems.
On a further note...
A couple of days ago I rooted using the Revolutionary tool and flashed Clockwork recovery using ROM Manager then created a backup. Now I no longer have problems with constant ads, no verizon bloatware, and a full backup img of my rooted Gingerbread TB.
Unrooted can't don't know much about rooting with the method used. Actually I'm kinda scared, now I did root my Eris and my Incredible and LG Ally. But don't glum have to know adb.

There should be an unrooted zip file that you could flash via hboot floating around here some where or might look on Rootzwiki site as well.
I would also check the md5 of the files to make sure they match the numbers posted by the OP before I attempted to flash it

You guys were awesome thanks again. Nice to know when someone gets stuck there are people willing to help. And think I'm going to attempt rooting my TB. I know if I get stuck ill be ok.

I need help please

I have a problem with my sidekick 4g when I try to go into recovery mode it freezes on the boot logo after that I tried charging it to see if nomorepowah would show up but I have to take the battery out for like an hour I've been trying to find the stock recovery and I can't find it I didn't change the recovery either all I tried doing a long time ago is install cwm but now it freezes when I try to go into recovery anybody have an answer to why its doing this?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using xda premium
Might have to odin back. I think its partially the nomoarpower's fault. Its obviously affecting how your booting, and it is a coverup for boot. Try removing it, and if it dosent work, then odin back to stock, then flash whatever you had. This might not be the solution, just trying to help

Download Titanium Backup and try to delete it.
Then install ICS messaging from the market.
I would assume this would work but I haven't tried it so back it up just in case.

Just reflash.
Like lumin says reflash. Use the second link in his signature.
However what rom are/were you on?If it is not a stock based rom dont use the reset feature within the phone use the one in recovery.
Thanks lumin you continue to be a trusted advisor. I flashed
a stock gingerbread from lumin last week.

Perfect is a hard statement to make. Any of the ICS flavors are pretty stable there are bugs but even stock roms have bugs. I think barebones by antonx is a good one and VB by FB is too.
Is it add simple as installing stock GB was using heimdall? I've read good things about VB would you possibly post a link? Most I click on are dead/inoperable...

Had that problem before u just reflash the ROM. As long as u can still go to cwm recovery

It un rooted itself again! Wth. I dont have cwm. How do I get that?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Run Gremlin Remover and go from there. You will have root and CWM to flash the ROM you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22596598
I'm not sure that I understand the cwm. Click work mod? I put that on my CPU and tether it with the market app? Sorry this is still very new to me...

CM 10.1 “0" folder issue Please Help!

So I just flashed CM 10.1 on my I535 to get a taste of 4.2. Nice ROM overall, however it did something strange to my SD card.
After flashing it, I booted into recovery to restore my daily driver CR5.5.1 and noticed this strange “0" folder on my SD Card in TWRP.
I initially was unable to locate my backups but then found them in a folder.
My backup was unable to flash because it was no longer a .zip file. All the files were .win.
Two questions, how do I fix this and flash my backup?
How do you check to make sure TWRP is up to date?
Thank you very much for the help !

Here you go: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/37316-protip-42-and-recoveries/
In case you don't read the thread, it's only four pages right now, this isn't a 100% fix so you may have to repeat these steps if/when it happens again. It looks easy enough although I'm not on AOSP to know.

To this, I'll say read the note in the CM10.1 OP then follow post 2 and see if it works:

Damn,
I just started a new thread about this topic because it is different but related to CM 10.1..
Just read that I need to Odin back to stock and unroot.. then *2767*3855#' then re root and unlock?
I flashed back to stock ICS last night and did the above mentioned keypad trick.
Then flashed back to JB and am still getting the global mode issue..

Hmm, well how about the third post here? Please disregard their "enthusiastic" tone of voice.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054924
I've only seen two ideas as potential solutions, Odin/dialer code or flashing or maybe changing this obscure setting. Maybe I need to do more thorough reading on other methods.
Seeing all these issues with JB 4.2 is rather disconcerting.
