[Q] Any Current Sales? - G Tablet General

Are there any sales now or in the near future for the G Tablet? I know last weekend Sears had it for $379 I believe, anything like that happening again before Christmas that anyone knows about? I saw a thread for the $50 credit towards a website, but I don't think that'll work for me.

I've also been looking for one, but I don't believe there are any sales right now.
The best deal is to get one reconditioned from Sears Outlet....if you can. $279 usually. The stock is always 0 or really low (like 1 or 2 nationwide) and come 8pm at night they are usually all gone. Only available for store pickup too, so you need to be near the store to get one. This is what I;m hoping for right now.

Like gogorman said sears outlet is the best way to go. I just picked mine up today. I drove 1h 30min to pick it up. It was worth the drive. I got mine for $250. There is one scratch on the back and lot of finger print on the screen but for $250 it cant be beat and gas only costed me $20.

If you have a Discover card, you can get 10% cash back if you click on the Sears link at shopdiscover.com. To avoid shipping charges, remember to select store pickup.

Fyi. I was told by acouple of Sears cs, you can buy one from outlet and have them ship it to you.

Just checked Office Depot and it's priced at $369. They're available in-store here.

I can't find it on the outlet website ;\. I live in NYC

I haven't found any "great" sales. Sears weekly ad today is $399.xx with a free case.

The Turkey Day / Black Friday returns are starting

Seven of them in SEARS today - looks like Black Friday returns are starting to come in.
What is the link for refurbs?
60,000 units times perhaps 70% returns = about $4.2 million cost for refurb sale and handling costs (minimum).
Not seeing how this ends well.... Perhaps people will learn not to release a product not ready and then release a very half-hearted update, while a few people that are not even paid make it a near great product.
I wonder if Viewsonic has accrued for this hit to their P&L in 2011? Viewsonic is nuts if they think Kmart / Sears, Office Depot and Staples will eat these costs.
All they have to do is get rid of Tap, add the Nvidia drivers, Flash and do something about the disaster of an app market portal. That last one is the hardest, but the others can be done NOW- not 12/19, which will probably be another half-hearted effort.
The sales and operations planning meeting for February will be very interesting at Viewsonic

Try this: http://www.searsoutlet.com/d/invent...&mode=buyUsedOnly&to=cart&pn=1&ps=10&disp=sel
Thanks.
My guess is Viewsonic may see a bunch of returns by retailers before sold to customers, but I did not expect the device to be pushed during BF, either.
Logic sometimes has no meaning.

lol none in my area
I guess I'll be taking a ride to freehold and paramus! LOL!
WOW! The one from Paramus was gone when I clicked on the link. I just bought the one from Freehold.
Half of them are already gone.
Is there a way you can reserve these before driving to the store and purchasing it? I'd hate to purchase it, drive to the store, and it's gone..
Buy it online, the store confirms the unit is there, then they charge your card. You get an email that says it's available for pick-up. and you drive to get it. If its already gone, you don't get charged.

Seriously, at that price, you would be foolish not to buy a 3 day old device. I don't even care if it doesn't boot; I can fix that!

The online site doesn't give me an option to buy it, just print out a page w/ a tracking number and goto the store. I called the store and the manager and sales associate seemed kind of clueless about sears outlet, and said they didn't have any in stock..?
EDIT: I see now that you have to "Add to Cart" to reserve the item and order it online. Here's hoping I got it!
just tried to buy the one from marlborough, MA and I ordered it at 9:30 AM and the store does not open till 10 am. I still got an out of stock email T.T
I am willing to pay someone if they can get one for me. There are none in my area.
Well, I placed an order online and went to the store for pickup (fairfax, va), and on my way there I got a call that the product was defective and being sent back to viewsonic. Seeing as how I was almost there, I just went to the store. Spoke with the manager and got the same schpeel. "The customer returned it for an issue with wifi."
So, one has to wonder why it was up for sale if there was a problem with the wifi, and how they magically knew there was a problem after me calling and inquiring about it. It would appear that perhaps someone else wanted the tablet who works there, but who knows. Perhaps I should have just taken it and tested out the wifi on my own but I opted not to.. Moral of the story, don't call the store.

That is probably the unit I returned after I thought I bricked it....lol. Loving my pad and wish I could pick up another cheap one.
As of 1:30 pm Eastern, they are all gone except the lonely one in upstate NY that has been there for a couple of weeks. Its amazing to me how these units sold out so fast. I still need another so I check the website a couple of times a day.
Yes, they are all gone. I was able to buy one, but i had to drive 180 mile one way, so I choose not to do it.

Hey guys! Do what I did: Went to my local Sears in NC, talked to the store manager, purchased a gift card on the spot for $311 ($279 plus UPS shipping). He called the store manager in Michigan. Had the G tablet sent my house, it arrived 2 days before my birthday. The stores can accept your Sears can send ID on back of the card to the store in question and hopefully ship your device. Also sign up for the Sears loyalty card while your at it; picked up $10 bucks in Sears points on the spot!

Sears back at $379

I bought mine at Staples due to better return policy - taking it by tomorrow for the price guarantee since Sears just dropped the price to $379 again.
Where is it Advertised?
I have a day or two left on my 14 day Staples return... I was hoping to score a returned unit but nothing at my local Sears but I would at least like to get the price match. Where is it being advertised for $379? Paper or online?

Yeah I was trying to figure out what I need to take them in order to get the price match as well. They have no ad, and I know that stores won't price match web pricing...
Please let us know if you were successful and what you gave them to get the price match.
You can pull it up on Sears.com and choose "pick up at store" to find a local Sears with it in stock at that price...hopefully your local staples will understand that as in-store advertised price.
My local staples did the price match. I brought in a sears.com printout showing it was in stock at a local Sears for $379.

The g tablet a very good tablet, I figure its only going to get better
in time.

349.99 this Friday and Saturday at Sears

This Friday and Saturday!
hell yes lol, was picking mine up in the morn
Where exactly on this ad are you seeing that Sears is selling it for this price this Friday and Saturday? I just bought mine this past weekend so I'm still in my 30 day window where I can go in and demand $30 back since I bought it for $379.99.
yea looked up sears ad not seeing it
See that price is more reasonable. They should just keep it at that price.

Their price protection is for 14days. I just got off chat with a sears rep and they say go into store and you will be taken care of.
I even told them I could return it and buy it at staples with the sears price.
I think we should be taken care of, I will be going down Fri or Sat with receipt in hand!

Just got off the phone with Sears and they had no clue what the hell I was talking about. Someone please verify which site that coupon comes from.
No G Tablet in my Sears ad
Got my paper here in N California this morning with the Sears ad for Friday and Saturday and there is no G tablet on sale in it.
Bummer
pissed me off lol
I have until Saturday for my 14 day price match window at Staples. I already price matched it to $380.... $350 would be even better!
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
If it goes down to $350 I'm not only getting my price match but I'll buy another.
I searched everywhere on the Sears site and didn't find it for $350. I actually saw one for $399, and then it was listed again with a different picture and description for $379.
Weird...
Maybe it's all a cruel joke...
My Sears ad for Friday and Saturday only shows an Asus netbook. No gtab
please remove this thread lol
Got into a fight at a sears tonight with manager because they didn't have my refurb when i got confirmation. ended up getting a brand new one price matched to the "refurb" price. It rang as 349.99 original price on the receipt if that helps anyone. This was in PA.
crap... my 14d w/Staples were up Monday!
I knew that I should've returned it and bought one at Sears!
Okay, I'm really confused. Where did this ad come from?
My Fri/Sat ad for Cincinnati doesn't even show a GTab in it, and the weekly ad that ends tomorrow says its $379.99 still, and then, the website says $399.99. When I got my price match at staples for $379.99 on Monday, the website showed that price. Now it doesn't.
Is Sears as confused as we are?

Just call and ask them. Price they would charge will show up when they enter the sku. Sears is pretty good with coordinating prices with their adds.

Site looks pretty screwed up ATM. It shows $379.99 but when you click on it for the specific page it then shows $399.99 ...
Yeah, I did a price match to $379.99 on Monday as well instead of returning it.
[EDIT]
Looked in the online weekly ad and didn't see it there either, but there was a BT Garmin GPS which is kind of tempting, but I want something smaller w/o display...

Gtab no longer listed at Staples.com?

I am planning on picking up a Gtab tomorrow at Staples, since the one near where I work has them in stock. I checked the website just out of curiousity and they're no longer listed. I know that Staples was very down on them...none on display and the first time I went in someone who works there told me that they were dissuading people from purchasing them.
Anyone know anything about their clearance policies?
I asked my local Staples about it, a few weeks back - they said that they did not have one.
If they are pulling the GTab, I should call them and see if they'd sell the floor model. I was nice enough to update the firmware for them a week back (they weren't at the latest).
In the store yesterday and in fact in this week's local sale paper for $399.

I was surprised too when I searched for it on Staples website.
Now at Office Depot
In this morning's paper at Office Depot for $399. I suspect that perhaps Staples temporarily pulled the unit because of price match concerns with Sears at $350 last weekend. I've noticed that in the past when OD had an item cheaper that suddenly the availabilty of an item at Staples went to zero. Could be that they just sold out coincident to the lower price but does make one wonder.
That said, I missed my price match by a few days but still glad I pulled the trigger and have a nice little tablet and a few days off to explore. Thanks to the efforts of folks here it works really well at this point.
i got mine from staples sunday... i'll be returning it saturday. i love the speed, but man the screen is so low quality. how can viewsonic even consider sending out such a bad screen.
so, columbia, sc location may have an open box one this weekend

Sears outlet shipping... ?

Will they ship to a different store? I have been religiously checking the site but have not found any units within a 2 hour drive for me. Also, will a regular sears have returns if I just show up or call? Has anyone been that lucky? How much are the returned/ open box units at a regular sears? Thanks.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Regular Sears stores that get returns are what shows up on the outlet website, there isn't a special set of stores that are considered 'outlets'. The outlets are just regular stores that happen to have returned items.
There are actual sears outlet stores in addition to the regular store. Im located in southern california and they have a physical outlet store 10 minutes from me but they never have the gtablet in stock. There are about 2 other regular sears stores in the area too. That would be awesome if they were all the same.

I purchased online from the Sears Outlet web site and called the store directly, asked for package pickup, and requested shipping. They shipped from Texas to Ann Arbor, Mi 3 day service for $11.
The only problem was the shipping had to be paid with a Sears charge card. I did not have one, had to borrow a friends.
Wow. That is awesome. Did you actually buy it online and then call the store? Why did they need a sears card for the shipping? Even with the shipping that is still a pretty sweet deal.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I managed to find a great dept manager that shipped to me for free! I recommend you go through with the order then call the store once you get your pickup confirmation. The first store I tried told me they couldn't do it, out of laziness I guess.
That's pretty sweet. What did you do when the first place wouldn't ship? Was it a hassel to get your money back?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
With the first store I called them up before I placed the order. So when they told me they wouldn't ship, I tried to just order and schedule a UPS pick up, but in the meantime someone else must have ordered it. Lucky for me though as I found the second store!
It's definitely a challenge and takes patience, but I'm glad I stuck with it. I think this is a good device for $280, but $399 is too much.
I absolutely agree. Thank you for the advice. I'll have to give it a shot. I am hoping that viewsonic will start selling all the units that were returned to them too. That would be awesome.

I have tried to buy one in the sears at oak terrance IL and had them shipped it to me. It was a painful process and i had spent at least 3 hours to call 3-4 numbers. No one really knew the process. Anyways, it was not much cheaper for me since 279 +taxes + shipping =325. I purchased mine for 349 with no tax for a new one locally. It was a very painful and you will need luck and a lot of patience. Good luck.
