[Q] Safe way to root Samsung transform - General Questions and Answers

I am technology impaired, what is the safe way to root a samsung transform? Is there a current app? I am trying to remove Sprint ID. This is also my first android phone. Please and thank you.

I think this is a new phone so there is not much development on this phone, but it will be soon

cool, thank you.

it is almost Halloween 2011.........still, the Transform remains a spunky device worthy of tinkering..........if rooted w/ a nice custom ROM, be surprised to be running faster than any OTA stock update...........Samsung may have given up on Transform owners, but the device lives on thanks to developers that keep coming back w/ newer + more excellent work..........(see SDX-developers.com for some fun reading and cool development for the Transform)

[Q]Samsung Galaxy Precedent 2.3 Rom Request

Recently purchased the Galaxy precedent for straight talk and absolutely love it. especially with straight talks 45 dollar unlimited plan. BUT, im being driven insane only running froyo. I mean its great functional, but i find my self heavily modding it to get it to do things that gingerbread does natively and would love support for even more future applications! If anyone would help im sure I wouldnt be the only one to embrace it!
Here is a forum on Rooting the Precedent as well as some do's and don't's.

Hey I have the m828c precedent also and I have recently rooted my phone. I was wondering what mods are available for this phone? I had an iPod touch and loved experimenting with the jailbrake and now I have upgraded to the Droid phone and I want to experiment with Modding now. Can you help? Cyanogenmod doesn't have a mod for the m828c as far as I know.. please respond lol

Thanks a lot for the info. It is great that there is smart guys in the world. I purchased my precedent a while ago. Unfortunately i bricked it and fortunately i had warranty on it so got a new phone. I loved the areaRom that i was running. Made great space for many apps with the partion making thru CWM. I think that if i would have brincked it i would have stayed with it for a very long time. Thanks for the info.

Forgot... since im new (about 2 or 3 months) learing about how root works... what would be the first step into learning how to actually be able to root or create a mod or ROM for one?? any ideas and direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Regards, Pryma
I'm astonished these bricks are so old that dev communities weren't already used to meet here on xda.

[Q] Just bought GN 10.1 -- My first impressions and questions

I just bought a new Galaxy Note 10.1 and I'm very excited, but also a bit overwhelmed.
It feels like an very responsive. I've only just begun to explore it, but Google Now and voice dictation is just fantastic.
I'm a little disappointed at how reflective the screen is. Are there good screen protectors that will reduce that reflectivity?
What are some good resources for learning about all of the features and how best to get up to speed and be productive on it?
What thread would you recommend to help me decide if it's worth rooting the device?
What thread(s) would you recommend for learning about favorite applications?
Thanks for your help and for being such a great resource.

I certainly don't require it. My device is pretty cool as it is. But, I'm wondering if there are even cooler things I can do with a rooted device. And, I'm curious to know the risks, as well.

I got my note a couple of days ago and am loving it ( coming from galaxy tab 8.9 ). I rooted mine so that could use multi view to be able to watch catch up tv and be able to have messenger open at the same time.
I bought one 3 months ago and that's the best android tablet I can find in the market. The screen resolution it's not the of course, but it's not really bad. Battery life is so good to use a quad core processor. It could be better. We can expand the internal memory with any micro sd card. Performance is as good as android optimize is. I'm quite happy and we'll wait for android 5.0, a really good new for all of us.
Asany flash, rooting your device has the potential to brick your device. If you aren't sure about the definition of brick go to a building site and grab one of those rectangular things to see what it does...
The reason most people brick their devices is they don't read the instructions or rush through them. It's a simple matter but there are steps to follow. There's a sticky in the developement section explaining EVERYTHING you need to know and how to do it safely.
I like the fact I can now do things like backup my rom for those times bad things happen... Even if the device needs to go back to Samsung I can still get everything back as it was using my nandroid backup.

[Completed] [Q] need help picking a new phone

I currently use a Samsung Galaxy SIII on verizon. I did the whole rooting and bootloader thing (whatever you call it). Im in the market for a new phone and was wanting some insight on what new phones are out there that i can do the same thing. I love the ability to load custom roms and do away with all the bloatware that come with every phone. Can some one help out with letting me know what phone still has the capability to root like i did my SG3. I keep reading that the new galaxy phones are impossible to root anymore. I was leaning towards the note 4 but it looks like theres not root for it. Im looking for a phone that I know can be rooted (along with the bootloader) and where i can use custom roms. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
you won't get your question answered on XDA. I suggest you search for the best phone you should pick yourself. For the ability to root the phone you desire, I recommend you to have a look if there is a device forum on XDA and that the phone is rootable.
Good luck!

Easiest Samsung Phone to work with

I am a relative noob and currently have a Galaxy S4 i9500 which I have successfully flashed with the Halcyon Deodexed rom... however it's still an older phone and is slow so I am thinking about a replacement. However there are so many Samsung phones to choose from, so my question is, which Samsung phone from the active range is fast and easiest to get a reliable debloated, deodexed, rooted rom that can have xposed installed? (similar to Halcyon on i9500?)
I'm not concerned with warranty, for me the availability of workable recovery and reliable roms with good performance is the most important.
Please let me have constructive suggestions.
Thanks,
If you're interested on Touchwiz Custom ROMSs, S6 is a good device. Otherwise, I suggest you to buy another phone.

It's the "other phone" that's the burning question..... Samsung, HTC, Xiaomi, which is easiest?
Looking forward hopefully to some suggestions..

I think you should look which has the largest development community. You can easily check the number of threads and posts in various phone sections. But over the years Samsung phones have had lots of support even with exynos processor difficulties. SO I suggest to go for a S6. Personally I have a LG G4 but it runs so good that I don't think about root or custom roms.
Thanks

I guess my options are Samsung, HTC, Huawai, Xiaomi, but all have their issues I guess, maybe I'll just stick with the idea of upgrading to an S6

Nexus devices are easiest to flash roms! LG devices get great support as well! The S6 has great support, but due to lack of exynos code which will never be released, will never have a stable rom!
Huawei which use their own cpu have bad support. Basically snapdragon devices have stable custom roms! Sony and HTC have excellent support as well.
But fortunately I like the stock S6 which has great multitasking features and camera processing.

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy Stellar (SCH-I200) custom ROMS?

I am looking to upgrade the ROM on my phone since some of my apps are no longer being supported. I dont want to purchase a new phone since I really like the phone and the new phones all seem to be mini-computers. I like my small phone!
Is there anyone out there that can point me to a ROM that would work for the Stellar and get me to at least 4.5?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
Your device doesn't have a dedicated forum here and as it's fairly uncommon and several years old there doesn't seem to be much dev support for it. The only relevant thread I could find is this one but it isn't too helpful. That's all I have I'm afraid, unless you want to ask in the general Q&A and hope for the best.
