wow wow wow bepe .... great great work !!!!
but , i have a question for you ....
what exatly files and/or modules have you ported from the wizard ???
The new rom contains only the old Himalaya driver and XIP section, everything else is Wizard (and a few Universal files).
Is there a way to send you 81,4 MB might be interesting for you?
hum ... i've a gmail account that can receive 2 gb or i can provide you a ftp account to upload more than 500 Mb ... but i'm not shure that's really help me ...
can you just make a list of files and modules you have replaced with wizard/universal version ?? (without addons files like stk or codecs) , just the replaced files
There are two types of packages OEM and M$.
Remove all OEM packages from some rom (Dont use a VGA ROM like Universal!) and add the HIM driver package.
Done this is a working filesystem.
Todo:
-Change packages.sof (only replase the device dependent XIP dsm file)
-Reuse all removed packages or make a empty dsm file
-Add additional OEM software (this is not needed)
-Regenerate x.hv files using the rgu files with RGUCOMP (no -b option, not the renaming to boot.rgu methode!)
-Edit initflashfiles.dat
'MakeRom 2.bat' used to generate the FRA rom (new way to generate default.hv and user.hv!).
files.txt is the exact list of files from WIZ
coooooooooooooool bepe , you're the best
with your method , i'll try to port the atom (aku 2.2) to himalaya , with some g-smart modules/files
can you post your 2.02 rom on buzzdev.net for users ?
i've a little problem with answer machine that i can't solve ....
i think my rom will be 2.03 ... maybe 2.04
i'm trying this rom ....
really good work bepe
full working
I'm trying this rom. it works very well, good work.
BUT .... i have a problem and a question .
The question: when i connected the pda on the Usb craddle, in previous WM2K5 versions, there was a ip adress attributed to the PC and the PDA.
It is not the case with this ROM. How does it work ? (Note : this is a good thing for me, because now it is possible to sync the pda while connected with a VPN client) .
The problem : i connect for my job to an application using a wed browser.
In a part of this application, which use javascript, there is a problem when selectionning radio buttons to choice something , it seems not recognize the choice. (i'm not sure sompebody understand my explications, i hope..).
this works well using roms 2003 and 2003SE.
I tried Internet and Opera browser, it is the same problem. I suppose the problem is with java machine.
If somebody has an idea ...
Phil
Really amazing ROM !!!
Too easy to upgrade with that ROM !
Thanks a lot bepe ! I'll tell you if some bugs found...
Just one thing :
I installed Sprite Backup (with previous ROM) and it has create a backup file impossible to delete !?
In my previous ROM I was able to adjust "Storage Memory" and "Program Memory". Isn't it possible with WM5 ?
I jnow have a message to inform me of an insufficient storage memory space !?
Thanks for your help !
hum...does someone have problems with Synchronisation !?
It's impossible for me !? (USB avalaible for ActiveSync but that's all ! )
Some idea ? :?
Hi everyone,
My PDA support center distributes updated roms in "nb0" file format, I was wondering if anyone could help me throught openning this file and doing some modification. Since there are many unusefull applications inside it and I want to delete or subsitite them. I read some topics about cooking roms in forum but I cann't find any information about customizing "nb0" files.
Thanks!
Pedram
Fortunetly, I could dump content of ".nb0" file with tools provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249836 (Beta: WM5 ROM editing tool). I got pleanty of files in dump folder. It's har for me to diffrentiate which file is which!
Could any one help me to find my voice command application inside this dumped rom and repalce it with another voice commmand application such as MS voice command?
There are some files and directories with this name in my dumped rom:
VoiceBar.dll, VoiceCtl.dll, voicedll.dll, VBarCall.dll, VCOMCtl.dll
I am really confused! I do not know what files should I delete or where copy new files.
Thanks in advanced.
i want to change my windows mobile 6.1 os 64mb rom to 128mb but i cant find any editing tool. im using asus p535 and rom file GalaxyII_new.nb0 like that.
moved to Q&A
Hi folks,
i am new, i have an old ipaq 5450 and i want to know if its possible to cook a wm6.1 rom for this device. i've tried to understand all these strange methods to decrypt and decode and what else (based on my old ipaq wm2003 rom, that comes in a 48mb .nbf format) - no chance - for me Now my question is, can anybody help?
Unfortunately the requirements for WM6.1 would not fit your device with 48mb...
I found this, ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279222
Waht about WM5? is this possible? does anybody know how to decrypt and extract the content on an ipaq .nbf file? i've tried nearly everything but without success. any ideas? plz help! if you are interested i can upload the .nbf!
you can't just copy files to your device to flash a rom..
and i doubt that thread will help you
if you found a rom for your device, which is a WM5, you could flash it regularly..
Hello all ,
I ran into the problem of liking a rom that was protected..
no problem , only thing i want to add was remote tracker.
the rest i do with uc.
So with the help of da_g i striped a kitchen to unpack and repack protected roms.
to add a package , just unpack..put your cab in the dump dir and add it to config????.txt
and repack.
that way i get the use the protected rom with my own package build in.
thought i would post it.

hi arnoldl,
i want to thank you and everyone have helped you to create and publish this. i was searching something like this since many time ago, finally i found your thread and i was able to add RT to the rom i use!
i think this will be useful to many other people
i have changed something and it works perfectly with my blackstone!
thank you thank you.
bye
What is the difference in extracting ngh file, adding cab file to dump folder, updataing config.txt and recooking compared to installing the cab file using UC?
Can we add visual kitchen packages to this dump folder? If we can add do we need to just copy all the files in all the folders of the package to dump folder?
eg: in the package there are some files in 0409 and some in files folder , _skip, app.reg, all these goes to dump folder?
Thanks
@DarkRenegade
No problem , happy that i helped...
@kk0813
If i would buy a phone of the street , i would do the folowing.
- check if there are funny things on it
- format the card
- hardreset the phone
and gone is your remote tracker protection..
If i cook rt in, with my personal settings for it.
after a hard-reset it's installed again , so i can still gps find my stolen phone after a complete format.
only next step i want to take is to re-hard spl , to prevent reflashing if posible.
but these days with new 6.5 images coming out so quick i flash so often i will wait with that one
but all other things i install by uc or later shashimi
Don't know if you can add kitchen files.
never tried it.....
btw attached a new version.
remade it to work with the new envirus kitchen the newer 6.5 roms are using..

You have a Trojan horse in first post!!!
All this to add a couple of cabs to a ROM ? Isn't it a whole of a lot easier to just... you know... install them after ? Or maybe even UC them to make it even lazier ?
Does this work with other roms from other devices? Or just Raphael roms?
I tried this but it extracts os.nb and os.nb.payload and also os.nb.extra but when it starts to create dump it fails
this is the log
ImgfsToDump 2.1rc2

Use the latest version of extractor, place the .nbh file in BaseROM, rename it to RUU_signed.nbh and run the extractor.
That worked for me.
A little late reading this, but I downloaded it to rip a rom from a little known site & guess what... Theres a trojan in that 1st post, virus software just riped it out of 2 kitchens recently downloaded as well as that 1st post file.
file namned Win32/Delfsnif.dx
I used your extractor but when i use old (1,2mb) i have problem with rom (sense 2.5 crash , windows menu crash), when i use new extractor (1,9mb) i don;t have a bootable rom (.nbh is very small 15mb-100mb) Is there any solution?
Sorry for my english I hope you can understand me.
I think there are more usefull tools that could help you.
Let's have a look here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411915
And I believe that this tool is used by most roms makers.
Sorry but this tool is traying to rebuild protected rom into kitchen (with folders - ext, rom, sys etc.) but this is impossible.
Worked Great ! !
It worked great for me!
Moving to general section
You should just move this to the cooking forum. People are always asking if you can modify cooked roms. Then others are always answering that you can't dump and modify a protected rom, which clearly isn't true. So this would work ok in the Cooking forum (can't even remember the name of the forum, even though I'm a mod there, lol).
If this works, than this is pretty kick ass! I was recently trying to simplify the process as you did but your work looks flawless to me! I'll post as soon as I can confirm it works putting the rom back on an HTC rose (htc s743).
After the rom is dumped, what says what files go in what directories? In the dump directory ALL files are in the dump directory and not in the folder structure they would be after the ROM is flashed to the phone. Where would I find what determines the folder structure?
Hi ppl, i'am from Portugal so sorry for my poor English, i'am a cooker for the Orange Boston (Aka Apanda A60, GigaByte Codefish, Wellcom etc etc), the issue it's this, i'am trying to change some thing's in the hidden partition, ok i have extracted the original hidden.img from the original ROM Apanda2.1Final.nb0 and with unyaffs in this point i have in that folder a custom.iso (this will be Virtual CD-ROM that will be mounted in windows) a settings.xml and boot animations, ok i change the boot png's and some settings in xml. now i repack the folder with mkyaffsimg in linux, ok now i flash with fastboot, now the problem is the Virtual CD-ROM its not mounted so the hidden it's not being linked to custom.iso the strange it's i had not changed anything in custom.iso.
Another issue with this terminal its (i think) i cant use mkyaffsimg in linux to creat a hidden.img so i run mkyaffsimg inside the phone by the adb shell with mkyaffs2image /hidden /sdcard/hidden.img ever with this method the result it's the same.
thanks in advance
+1 for an expert advice please.
And, if possible, anyone knows how do i sign the update.zip or where to find the keystore for the rom signing? How do you guys found the key for the other devices here @XDA?
Thank you in advance.
Regards from Portugal.
they find the key i think by reverse enginering or the HTC can be signed with a custom key or an developer Key, our phone it's stupid because with the google's developers key we can't sign
Anyone here @xda can please enlighten us about the questions above?
Ty in advance
Bump, anyone?
Regards from Portugal
Same problem here, i can't rebuild the hidden partition after modding the content. On pc or on phone, i can't get successfully to rebuild the hidden partition.
